Anna Roberts was a very normal office worker from our world, another person living day to day and dreaming of a different life. Her dream comes true in a spectacular fashion when she finds a forbidden fruit and takes a bite. The fruit grants her immortality and a new life among the gods who treat her sudden appearance with more than a little apprehension.
Lord Eastwei is the dragon god, known as much for his icy composure as his incredible magic. He’s millions of years old but his indifference toward most people means he has yet to take a wife, though more than one fair goddess has tried to woo him. Very little surprises him until he finds the confused Anna in the gardens of his palace, a picture of a perfect goddess that slowly begins to intrigue him.
Anna’s arrival upends not only Eastwei’s gardens but also the matrimonial plans of more than one goddess toward the handsome lord. Her unfamiliar mannerisms and even more unfamiliar cooking lead her to become admired and envied, a volatile mix that finds her facing jealousies and intrigues.
Now Anna must figure out how to manage all the challenges that come with being a goddess even as the handsome Eastwei's attentions toward her begin to grow.

I recently had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook version of "Becoming a Goddess" by Mac Flynn. The narration, performed by an AI, was overall enjoyable. There were a few instances of mispronounced words, but they didn’t significantly detract from the experience.
The story centers around Anna, a well-rounded and emotionally diverse protagonist. Mac Flynn does an excellent job of deepening Anna's character, which makes following her journey an intriguing experience. Anna's inner conflicts and growth are portrayed with admirable balance.
However, one minor drawback was Anna's tendency to react in ways that occasionally lacked realism, such as holding her breath in certain situations. This quirk sometimes disrupted the flow of otherwise relatable scenarios.
Overall, "Becoming a Goddess" is an enthralling listen with a mix of myth, transformation, and self-discovery that keeps you engaged. The captivating storyline and character development make it a recommended read for fans of fantasy and personal growth tales.
If you’ve ever watched asian historical fantasy dramas set in the heavenly palace and thought “it would be cool to get that as a book” this is going to scratch that itch.
That being said, book one is light and a reasonably strait up slow burn romance (very slow burn).classic fish out of water story setup that takes a while to get going. Sadly doesn't have a deep court politics element (which is a shame, as that would have been amazing in this setting). But the characters are interesting and likeable, and the plot is undemanding reading wise, but interesting and kept me reading til the end once i got into it. Made for perfect relaxing reading after a heavy novel.
As expected for book one in a series, it ends on a cliffhanger (i need book 2 now!)
I like our main character, Anna, very much. She's kind for the sake of being kind and doesn't have a big head about herself. I liked the scenes with kids. They feel realistic and warm. I like Lord Eastwai and some of the other gods and goddesses. And Adrian.
I think this book would benefit greatly from a proofreader. And I didn't like the abrupt ending. But overall this was a fun read.
This was a sweet story, period. The characters are unremarkable as is the storyline. MC is one dimensional and the other characters are bland. If there is to be a romantic relationship, it's happening glacially. I won't be continuing on to book 2.
I really liked this story and looking forward to reading the rest of the series. It's a light, relaxing, and engaging read with interesting characters.
Spannende Welt und angenehme Charaktere. Story entwickelt sich langsam, somit für entspanntes Lesen, manchmal jedoch etwas zu langsam. Die Weltbeschreibungen manchmal etwas kompliziert
