My Discovery of GOD, Islam and Judgement Day written by Hamza Ali Abbasi. An autobiography of Hamza Ali Abbasi, where he encompasses his life and presents a sketch of his teenager life of atheism towards discovering Islam as a religion to believe in.
This book consists of 7 chapters and 7th chapter having two parts. Starting this book, he explains his life of atheism and starts writing a response to the atheist’s questions. Hamza Ali Abbasi argues that he rediscovered his faith 70 percent by himself while searching the answers of his questions, and the rest of 30 percent he could not find, he argues that one day I asked the God a favor that, I know I have started believing in you, whoever you are, wherever you are, once realizes me your existence, and on that day, while searching about my 30 percent remaining answers, I discovered Javed Ahmed Ghamidi, who helped me to answer mine 30 percent and helped me both directly and indirectly through his books and online lectures.
Moreover, he presents the history and Arabian Culture, and justifies that the Prophet Muhammad came into Arab and preached Islam as a divine religion revealed upon him. He justifies it by giving references from he old and new testaments, Bible, Hindu books, and Abraham predictions as well.
He substantially explains the slanders upon Prophet and Prophet’s relentless preaching of Islam. He explains Islam as surrender to truth and God. He explains the sources of Islam includes Quran, Hadith, and Sunnah. He has portrayed a pragmatic explanation of Islam, which is very much conspicuous. His explanations are almost same as those of Mr. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi’s, which are very much adroit and reasonable, and very easy to understand the Islam and its message.
My analysis of book: First, I will criticize the author because of his limited approach and he has used only Quran as a book of reference to answer almost all the questions. Meanwhile atheists do not believe in revealer of Quran then how they can believe in Quran itself. It also lacks deep textual analysis. Secondly, Mr. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi’s lens is not universally accepted. Though, Mr. Ghamidi’s explanations are easy to understand the Islam but writing a book only referring to one person again and again makes it reluctant/feeble.
Thirdly, he has more justified the presence of Prophet instead of God, yes substantially he explained God existence but I felt while reading that he justified the Prophet’s prophethood more than God’s existence. I found this book ambivalent. Its true do not judge a book by its cover. Because there are complex debates such as free will, divine justice, or theodicy which are reduced to simplistic analogies. I will argue that the book seems like a high school essay trying to explain the universe.
Besides this I appreciate Abbasi’s work on searching and dwelling deep into Islam and answering many hard questions, which also helped me to come over some of mine arguments not over all but at some extent I got answers, questions such as, why God has permitted husband’s to take hands on wives, it does not count in domestic violence or Quran preaches for domestic violence?, why husband has given authority over wife when it comes to marriage, Is Islam oppose to democracy, and also why men are permitted to marry 4 wives but not women to marry another husband. Is Muhammad considered as superior to other Prophets, whose answer is given by Prophet himself, who ever use to say this, the Prophet himself used to stop that person of saying this.
