যশোধরা রায়চৌধুরীর জন্ম ১৯৬৫-তে, কলকাতায়। কল্পবিজ্ঞানলেখক দিলীপ রায়চৌধুরী ও শিল্পী অরুন্ধতীর কন্যা যশোধরা দর্শনের ছাত্রী। বর্তমানে কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারে কর্মরত। ১৯৯২ থেকে কবি হিসেবে আত্মপ্রকাশ। জ্বরপরবর্তী, অমল ধবলে গরল লেগেছে ছাড়াও রচনা করেছেন বহু কাব্যগ্রন্থ, গল্পগ্রন্থ ও নিবন্ধগ্রন্থ। ফরাসি ভাষাচর্চা করেন। মূল ফরাসি ভাষা থেকে, তাঁর অনূদিত বই লিওনার্দো দ্য ভিঞ্চি (আনন্দ)। পেয়েছেন কৃত্তিবাস পুরস্কার (১৯৯৮), বাংলা আকাদেমির অনিতা-সুনীলকুমার বসু পুরস্কার (২০০৬), বিনয় মজুমদার স্মৃতি সম্মান (২০১৬), সৃষ্টিসুখ সম্মান (২০১৯), ২০২৩ সালের দ্য টেলিগ্রাফ-এর ‘শি অ্যাওয়ার্ডস’। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ কবিতা আকাদেমির ‘সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় সম্মান’-এ সম্মানিত (২০২৪)।

This book is the first of its kind in Bengali. The protagonists of these stories are brave girls who want to take their own life in their hands and while doing so, change the world for good. It is rare to find a collection of fairy tales in Bengali, or perhaps in any language, where all the protagonists are girls. This book paves the way for other writers to come up with new role models for our girls and break the stereotypes. The production quality of the book is truly high. The illustrations are wonderful. This book is sure to be a prized possession for every reader.

এই বইটা একেবারে অন্য রকম। পড়ুন, জানতে পারবেন: যে সব প্রথা, বেড়াজাল, রীতিনীতি, নিয়ম কানুন শুধু মাত্র মেয়েদের জন্য। এটা আমাদের সমাজ তৈরি করে যাচ্ছে, সেই ছোট বেলা থেকে এক রাজার একাধিক রানী, গল্প আর মহাকাব্যে পড়ি। এখনো সেই প্রথা, নামে স্বাধীনতা বাস্তবে ঘর-সংসার নামক শেকল পড়িয়ে বন্দি করে রাখার চেষ্টা… তবে সব ভাঙা যায়, নিজের ইচ্ছায় মনের মতো করে নিজের সুন্দর জীবন টা প্রাণ ভোরে বাঁচা যায়।

আমার দিদির মেয়েকে গিফট দেওয়ার জন্য বইটা কিনেছিলাম। কিন্তু কেনার পরে নিজেরই চোখ আটকে গেল। যেমন ইলাস্ট্রেশন, তেমন গল্পগুলো। তিন সম্পাদকদের বলছি, এতদিন ছিলেন কোথায়!
