Bullied and often left to his own devices, Aaron is just searching for a place to belong.
The crooked tree by the river’s edge is the one place he feels fully himself. His sacred space.
One day, as Aaron lies lounging on his favorite branch, a torrential rain roars through, washing the ten-year-old through an underground passage and into a community of enormous dragons, brawny dwarves, minotaurs, fairies, and exactly ONEgiant. And into a world called The Table. A dynamic yet dangerous mythical world mirroring our own.
As if it were always meant to be, the giant and his dragonkin family take Aaron in as one of their own. But not everyone in The Table is so trusting of humans. Now the hunt is on for the rumored human intruder, and the fire-breathing Blackwings are closing in…
To protect his newfound sense of home and to make it back to the overworld safely, Aaron must dig deep and discover his real power within.
In "The Table" by Will Booher, parents and teachers alike will find a narrative that champions bravery, acceptance, and the importance of belonging. As a parent and educator, I was captivated by the journey of young Aaron, a boy seeking connection in a world that often leaves him isolated. The author weaves a fantastical tale that immerses readers in a world filled with dragons, dwarves, and other mythical beings. This enchanting story not only sparks children's imaginations, but also opens a dialogue about resilience and self-discovery, encouraging young readers to embrace their own uniqueness. "The Table" is a remarkable adventure that leaves a lasting impression, reminding us all that true strength comes from within and that every child deserves a place to call home. Highly recommended for children and educators looking for inspiring tales!
Parents and teachers alike, this would be a great addition to your library.
A grand adventure in a wonderfully fantastic world. This story follows Aaron, who often feels overlooked and unwanted. He finds himself drawn into a world full of magical beings and is thrown into a whirlwind of an adventure.
This would be a great story for younger kids, and pre teens especially.
This is an amazing book and I’m glad I read it. This is a book of adventure, acceptance of those different than you, and what a healthy family dynamic should look like. Will Booher also paints a picture of what healing in a safe space can look like. But more than that, when I asked him over TikTok if he could make it available for Kindle and then bought it, I didn’t know this would be a book that I needed myself. My own childhood didn’t look too dissimilar than Aaron’s and it was very healing to me to see him healing the same way I tried to when I was a child.
A message to the author: I would kindly request to read the rest of the tale too; the others’ challenges and whatnot. I want to read the rest of the series. Because this is a series starter. Please don’t leave me hanging. 🙂
The Table, a book by Will Booher, is a thought-provoking exploration of escapism through the life of a young man, Aaron, who has struggles many deal with. The story centers around a fascinating world, where we witness a reality that shows differences can make anyone family and we are not defined by our individual upbringing.
The narrative is gentle and poignant, highlighting the universal themes of love and the enduring power of the family we make for ourselves. While the story is simple, it carries a profound message about the interconnectedness of human (and fantasy) lives.
The Table is a perfect choice for reading aloud and sparking conversations about family history, empathy, and the importance of cherishing the present moment. It's a timeless tale that will resonate with readers of all ages.
I can't wait for more from Will Booher. This book tells a captivating story that is relatable to children and adults. A whimsical journey that focuses on many things such as empathy, helping others, and kindness. A child, adults and even a senior in my family really enjoy this book. Highly recommend, you won't regret your purchase!
