A Roman Army. A Dacian Tribe. Werewolves.

The Romans get slaughtered trying to colonize Dacian territory. This thrusts the elite Axius and famed hero Nestor into a painful reckoning that their fallen was not killed by humans. They embark on a journey to save their beloved commander, Titus, and the army, who undertake a mission to avenge their fallen.
Axius believes the Dacian queen Vasiliki holds the key to uncovering the truth about the killers, as a plot seeking to undermine Rome from within is discovered. As they confront their worst fears, they realize this bloody war is already spilling into the streets of Rome. But the beasts in Dacia want more than Rome, they want the world.

Dark, emotional, and unexpectedly beautiful.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into Bleeding Roses, but wow this book pulled me in from the very first page. April Savage has a way of writing that’s raw and poetic at the same time. You can feel the pain in every line, but also the strength that rises out of it.

The story is dark and intense, touching on themes like trauma, survival, and finding power in your own voice. But it’s also hopeful in a quiet, powerful way. There were moments I had to pause and just sit with a sentence because it hit so hard.

If you’re into books that explore emotional depths with honesty and grit this is one you won’t forget. It’s not just a story… it’s a journey.

Epic and eerie Ancient Rome meets werewolf myth.

Bleeding Roses blends gritty Roman warfare with dark supernatural horror in a way I didn’t expect. From the opening massacre to the creeping mystery surrounding the Dacians, I was hooked. Axius and Nestor are standout characters, and Queen Vasiliki brings depth and strength to the story.

The worldbuilding is intense and immersive, and the horror elements? Genuinely chilling. Not your average werewolf tale this one has teeth and brains. It drags slightly in places, but the payoff is huge.

Perfect for fans of historical fantasy with a dark twist. Think 300 with a cursed edge.
