It's interesting coming back and rereading this story (but physically) because knowing what's to come makes the beginning feel really slow, but I think that's just me being full of anticipation! LOL!
Maybe a weird way to start with a review, but I'm SOOOO excited for all the small moments and panels of Yamada really looking at Akane, which is something I didn't catch the first few times I read this digitally! While I felt there were quite a few moments, it was honestly that moment at the end that had me squealing! Though shoutout to Runa when she was with Akane because she was hilarious in trying to get Akane and Yamada closer! LOL!
But also speaking of her, I forgot how upset I was at her character in the beginning due to how she set up Akane. The fear I feel every time I've read that bathroom scene was just as strong reading it this time around even though I knew what was going to happen.
Very thankful she was okay, but Runa was so mean! But in light of Runa's actions, I was once again touched by how Akane still befriended her and was excited when they could genuinely get to know each other better.
Love all the side characters and am still enjoying reading this series again! What a joy to hold it physically!!
THIS WAS SO CUTE!I just remembered to finish the first volume now, my work was really piling up and I just ate the whole thing up in one bite without writing a review!!
This manga is giving me a Wotakoi nostalgia and I'm loving it!! I was kinda worried about the age gap at first. I thought Akane was already a working gal, and I was like, "No, this gal can't possibly begin to date a high school student!!" She appeared to be a college student though. Nevertheless, the story is cute and I adore Runa!! (I'm actually on Volume 3 now, Yamada seemingly starting to bloom feelings for Akane.)
Their dynamic is everything to me. I love the fact that it's a slow BURN. A good and proper slow burn. The ML is kinda stoic but he does have a soft spot for her
- chapter 11: Why now? - chapter 12: Wait here for ten minutes! - chapter 13: I don't have any plans - chapter 14: Mind telling me about it in more detail? - chapter 15: Did you get hurt? - chapter 16: I don't really get computers - chapter 17: Try to make it like a romantic comedy - chapter 18: I really messed up... - chapter 19: I'd better not get closer
3.75 This was a great follow up. It was nice to see the addition of new characters but some of the conflict seemed very childish. However, I like seeing the two main characters get closer so I'll continue to read on!
I am already obsessed. Girl starts playing an online game to spend time with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend meets another girl in the game and dumps her for it. She goes to a event for the game, all dolled up, trying to make him jealous where she accidentally runs into somebody name Yamada who is a pro gamer but quite dull, quiet, and aloof. In the moment, she convinces him to pretend to be her boyfriend to make her ex-boyfriend jealous. She goes out to eat with Yamada where she complains and drinks a lot, and ends up, waking up in Yamadas bed the next morning.
I always love the quiet, silent aloof character, who isn’t really into romance, who falls in love with the cute energetic girl. I love the gaming aspects and really connect with that as a gamer myself.
There are no words to describe how cute this story is, and I am so excited to watch this romance develop !
Japan already has 9 volumes out. It is CRIMINAL that only two volumes have been translated to English so far.
CRIES IN WANTING TO AVOID SCANLATION SITES.
Akane is so much more likable (to me) in this one! It's a little slow moving, but we're introduced to a bunch of characters so I didn't mind it. Slow relationship progression and some friendships are building too!
RECAP: Guild meet up at the cafe, Runa decides to run off Akane so she invites her out. Akane goes to the meeting with a strange, Yamada calls out Runa and enlists the rest of the guild members to help. They "rescue" Akane. Akane then saves Runa from a scolding and is just kind. Later playing games, computer dies, Runa has Eita/Yamada help fix it. Yamada comes over. Some meddling. Then hair pin removal before Akane's ex shows up at her apartment. AND THE VOLUME ENDS.
this volume is amazing!! the beloved characters join the chat (eita, kamota, runa) and there’s so much protective and caring yamada content. akane is such a lovely character and i enjoy seeing everyone become friends with her. ALSO, CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE CLIFFHANGER?! i don’t wanna spoil the next anime episode for myself but i have no choice but to start vol 3 now🫣
As a big fan of the anime, I'm thrilled to be able to read the manga. Though the chapters are short they have a bunch in each volume. There are about 3 blank pages between each chapter which I hate to see.
In this volume, we get to see the cast rounded off with more characters, largely from the in-game guild. It is nice to see gaming references continue to be worked into the plot. The romance also continues to gradually build, and we finally get some glimpses into the mystery of Yamada’s aloofness.
