Demon Wielder #2

Sapphire Noon

Rate this book
“Farran deserved to spend his life with someone who was easy to love and deserving of it; two things I clearly wasn’t.”

Obligated by blood oath and the threat of war, Reina Sangrey returns to the Armory to continue her trials. There she’s burdened both by her destiny to end the Theranian Queen, and the Crown of a dead kingdom she was born to wear.

More than just a soldier, Queen Claudia makes it clear Reina will belong to Thera’s Crown as their weapon and princess unless she can find a way out that isn’t death.

Reina is reckless and broken, brutal and unforgiving: She will never be worthy of a kingdom or a prince. She will do anything it takes to end her betrothal, survive the Armory, rise to the Queensguard, and kill the Queen. The gods gifted her the power of the dreosen—the demon wielder—and they should be afraid.

There is no other future she’ll consider—all traitors die alone.

Reina Sangrey was trained to be a weapon against the Theranian crown, now she’s destined to wear one for a dead kingdom. Will the weight of destiny, blood oaths, and secrets exposed be her undoing, or will it fuel her fight for more than a traitors fate?

I was so lucky to read an advanced copy of Sapphire Noon, the second book in the Demon Wielder series and OH MY GOD!

When I read The Emerald Dawn last year I was hooked instantly. The world that Trebacz has created is so rich and so well developed. It’s one of my favorite fantasy worlds. Of course, the second installment in this dark fantasy series only built upon that strong foundation.

Reina and Farran continue to be my favorite fictional characters. There was no shortage of tension in Sapphire Noon. The constant push and pull of their relationship was absolutely killing me.

And of course, the plot thickens with new characters, deeper lore of this world, and the development of Reina’s power (gifted by the gods, NBD).

I honestly cannot express how much I love this series and how much I look forward to what comes next.

I truly enjoyed Emerald Dawn, and Sapphire Noon is the perfect sequel! This ARC was incredible. It took me a long time to finish it for various reasons, but once I had the ability to sit down and read it consistently, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Reina Sangrey is an incredible character. All of her life she has been fashioned to be a weapon for others and never had a choice for herself. She is broken and tired, but continues to move forward amongst all odds. I find her journey to accepting herself and the love of those around her inspiring. She struggles every day, which makes her that much more human to me. Despite all of the mounting difficulties and impossible odds, she continues on to find her own voice and make her own choices. Reina Sangrey is one of my favorite characters I’ve read. She has not always done the right thing or been the best person, but keeps fighting and trying to do better. As for Farran and their relationship, I really enjoy the growth they have separately and together as a couple. Farran becomes more disillusioned with the world he grows up throughout the novel and begins to make more decisions for himself. He realizes what’s at stake and fights for what he believes in.

Further than that, the world building is incredible, and the various tensions, secrets, and storylines weave together so well. I could see everything that was so perfectly described, feel the emotions of the characters, think in line with their thought processes. Allison Trebacz really knows her characters and the world she built so well. That’s why I love this book - not only because of the romance or the fantasy elements, but because of how well-portrayed and well thought through each character, relationship, and portion of the world is. Everything has multiple sides to it, and I’ve loved being immersed in this world.
Thank you to Allison Trebacz for writing such beautiful stories and sending this ARC! I cannot WAIT for the next book!

“More is all I ever wanted when it came to him: more touch, more taste, and more time.”

@AllisonTrebacz I don’t know how you do this but you’ve created a monster, that’s me, who’s on the edge waiting for the next book!! Ma’am, you’re an artist and I’m super super happy that I have read your books😭🩷

The world building, storyline, secrets, relationships, theories, threats, past, present and future, everything is so well mixed and written that I can’t believe this is a fictional story. For the past 3 days I’ve been reading this book every second I’m free, whether I’m travelling to work or staying up at night till 4am before I realize I have to wake up early, the story is THAT addictive!! The descriptive writing makes it so much easier to imagine the world, the room, the trials and the thoughts of every character.

No offence to anyone but I LOVE LOVE LOVE how I am in complete awe and interested in the storyline rather than the romantic relationship; don’t get me wrong, I love romance and romantasy is even better but after a long time it is that I’m invested to know more about the story and how the plot will unravel. The author truly knows how to bring her point across; when she wants us to focus on the trails, or when she wants us to think about Farran as a prince, as a guy we want, or to imagine ourselves as Reina.

I can’t say much as it’ll reveal the storyline but I can 100000% guarantee that you’ll be hooked for good🙌🏼 and I’m sorry but I can’t express how freaking amazing this series is and how blessed I feel to have the opportunity to read this series😭

ALSO, Next book will come out in Spring of 2026!!! WHATTTTTT?!?!?!!

💎 ARC Review! 💎

"I've always known who you are, Reina Sangrey. My life, my future, and my sword - all for you, darling. I've always known I was yours."

Way back in September, I was privileged to ARC read Allison's debut in The Emerald Dawn. It was everything I love about fantasy romance.

🖤Deadly Trials
🖤Prophecies
🖤Political Intrigue & Betrayal
🖤A Roguish Prince Who Falls First
🖤Found Family
🖤Demons and Dragons
🖤A Complex, Imperfect FMC

Sapphire Moon is all of that and more, deepening the lore, the intrigue, and my love of Farran MacLaine.

Just shy of 700 pages, I still find myself wishing to remain in Thera just that little bit longer.
Reina is a beautifully complex FMC. She is simultaneously intelligent and reckless, vulnerable and steadfast, with the weight of two kingdoms' expectations to carry.

Allison also does an incredible job of conveying the tragedies and brutalities of war. The tenuousness of peace amidst unprecedented magic awakening in the realm, with conniving courtiers lusting for power.

Farran rivals our beloved Dorian Havilliard in the ranks of swoonworthy Princelings. His delicious combination of charm and sincerity would leave anyone breathless. It certainly did me.
He calls her DARLING. Like, please. 😩❤️‍🔥

Sapphire Noon is everything a sequel should be.

✨ARC Review✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Thank you Allison Trebacz for
this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Demon Wielder is a thrilling, high fantasy series plotted for four books, with the second book releasing tomorrow, April 1st.

Sapphire Noon is adventurous, emotional, and a little funny at times.
Because I had recently finished The Emerald Dawn, and Trebacz added a wonderful guide at the start of Sapphire Noon, I was able to quickly jump back into the world, knowing everything I needed to know to enjoy the adventure.
I liked the first book, but I LOVED Sapphire Noon.
With this being the second book, you start off knowing what’s at stake. I was on my toes the whole time, thinking about the trials, the relationships, and politics throughout the kingdoms.
I loved that this second book delves much deeper into the magic system, the trials are more deadly, and the spice is much spicier.
I also adore the friendship between Reina, and Leena. I have been seeing a lot more strong friendships in books lately, and I’m loving it. Girlhood can be difficult, so it’s heartwarming to see true friendships.💖
With the next book not being expected until next year, I appreciated that Sapphire
Noon did not end on with a huge cliffhanger.

What do you mean, the queen isn't dead yet? What do you MEAN, there's more in this series??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I have to wait until the next one????? I'm so angry right now, because that wedding was so damn beautiful, even though it's a trap, and I know you will make Farran and Reina suffer the consequences (more than just a tiny punch) for those vows they were forced to take. DAMN YOU!

This is a worthy sequel to The Emerald Dawn, they both hit hard and draw you in from the start. I don't go out of my way to read m/f romantasy, many are thin veneers of magic that prop up a formulaic boy meets girl plot. I prefer something queer, especially sapphic. HOWEVER, the worldbuilding in this series is so fucking well done that I fell in love anyway. There's so much more to this than romance, and I'm absolutely eager for more.

It's guaranteed that I'll stick with this series. I will not rest until Reina plunges her dagger in Queen Claudia's chest and sits upon her own rightful throne. ...which isn't going to happen until the final book, like some cheap cliffhanger that was introduced in the first chapter of the first book... No, that's not fair. It's a perpetual cliffhanger, but it's not cheap. It's earned in the narrative.

I'm absolutely hooked.

When I read Emerald Dawn, I was left burning for more and I have to say, Sapphire Noon did NOT disappoint. It was everything I wanted and so much more, and once again I need more right now!

Reina and Farran have captured my heart and I just want to give them absolutely everything, as they both deserve so much.

The twists and turns of this book had me hooked on every single page. I absolutely adore all of the characters and appreciated the character developments of some.

The overall plot has left me like "LET'S GO TO WAR!" and I absolutely love when a book leaves me feeling that passionate. I am so desperate to see what happens next, it's not even funny. So much happens, but it's written so well that it's never overwhelming. The characters are so fully fleshed out that you can't help but absolutely adoring some and hating others. I found myself second guessing who Reina could trust and feeling that immersed in the story was perfection.

This series gives me real Throne of Glass vibes, and if you're looking for a TOG shaped hole filler then The Demon Wielder Series is definitely one to check out.

Thank you Allison for the Arc 💙

I loooooved this. It had all of my favorite tropes : forced proximity, badass FMC, arranged marriage, ennemies-to-lovers.
I loved how we got to see Reina’s evolution in this sequel, I thought it was great to see her battling her demons (pun intended), being pulled in so many directions while trying to understand her feelings for Farran and her place in the world.
And I was so so glad to see Farran’s pov as well. I love that man, he must be protected at all costs!!
While the ending wasn’t as much of a shock as in the first book, some plot twists were unexpected. I didn’t love Blaise in the first book, but I kinda hope we get more of his side in the next book, I think it’ll be really interesting to follow him during what he’ll have to go through…

All in all, the writing was really good and the story was fast paced and pulled me in all the way through! I highly recommend this series!! 💙💙💙

I had the same issues with the writing and editing as book one (e.g. there was at least one portion of the text that was repeated - as if someone had done an accidental extra copy and paste - that should have been picked up in proofreading).

Also, this book was long, and I felt it. Maybe it was outside stressors making me impatient, maybe it was that the story dragged toward the end, maybe it was a little bit of both, but I found myself just wishing it was over by about the 75% mark.

As for the story itself, outside of the previously mentioned issues with length, I more or less enjoyed the story development, and I always love a good romantic reunion .

I'm not super pressed for book three but I do plan to read it eventually.

Heat index: 3+ open door sex scenes with explicit language.

I was lucky to be selected as an ARC reader for this book. Since it's the second in a series I had to read the first and honestly it was rough. I would have DNFd it if I wasn't an ARC reader for the second one. The second book is definitely better, so stick it out!

First: The writing has definitely improved. There are far less switches in verb tenses in a single sentence. I think I only noticed it once or twice. There are also less sentences that are unfinished.

Second: I'm so glad I stuck it out for the second book! I'm enjoying the story! Seeing Reina figure herself out and be confident in her power at the same time Leena is doing the same is incredible!

Farran is exactly who I needed. The emotional roller coaster I just got off of has me needing more. As someone who read Mists of Avalon and Fourth Wing, I can say The Emerald Dawn and Sapphire Noon are definitely a mix of these two books. I would love to fight the queen because she 100% needs someone to knock her down a few pegs. Reina is a bad ass but she has a soft side for everyone. It seems like the two can't be in the same person but here she is. We all also need a friend like Leena. She looks out for Reina and Farran in every way that she can.

I read this as an ARC.

Sapphire Noon is the much anticipated sequel to Emerald Dawn, and it did not disappoint! Reina and Farran have a lot of healing to do and rebuild their trust in one another while trying to navigate the power that Reina holds. I deteste the Queen, I love Reina's friends because they are definitely ride or die, and that being said, I can't wait to see how a particular character reacts in book three ! There is still more to explore in this world and more politics to untangle, but I'm all here for it!

I can’t be the only one who hopes the Queen gets throat punched🙃 finishing book 2 has me wondering if we haven’t even begun to understand the depth of Reina’s powers. There’s so much raw pain but Reina & Farran’s love is so pure. I’m hoping book 3 will let me know if we can truly trust Farran’s brothers because right now I don’t completely trust them. This series always leaves you on the edge of your seat wondering what Reina will discover next. Book 3 can’t come sooner

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When I read Emerald Dawn, I loved every bit of it - so of course I picked up Sapphire Noon as soon as I could. This book continues to be as amazing as the first as we continue Reina and Farran's story. I can't think of a single thing in either book that I do not love. The way it is written draws you right into the story, you can't just get enough. This is definitely an amazing series, and I can not recommend it enough!

This book series will always have my whole heart! I absolutely adored The Emerald Dawn, so Sapphire Noon had a lot to live up to.

We jump straight back into the story where we ended in Emerald Dawn, and the story just doesn't let up! So much happens, and you are constantly on the edge of your seat, waiting for the other shoe to drop!

If you've been here a while, you'll know I have a soft spot for the MMCs that are the villains! That isn't the case in this series, and Farran, is everything that, normally, I'm just not that in to, sweet, caring, loyal, kind and a good person, however, I don't know what Allison puts in her books, but I'm obsessed with him. Even though he is the good guy, he would still choose Reina over and over again, and I absolutely love him!

Speaking of Reina, she is the character I wish I could be, the villain without wanting to be, desperate to be good but knows that really she isn't! She is strong and resilient, kickass and an absolute warrior!

I loved the back and forth with Reina and Farran in this one. The angst and pining between them was both painful to read and amazing!

If you want a book series with a kickass female assassin, in an Academy type setting, with deadly trials, political intrigue, secret identities, prophecies, a forced betrothal and angst and pining, this series is definitely for you!

thank you so much Allison for another arc copy!
I love the direction Sapphire Noon took and is guiding us for the third installment!
Since this is a sequel I will say as little as I can.
Reina is still that b*tch. We get to see a side of life outside of the Armory as she tries to navigate the queen's games.
I still adore Farran, like I would destroy the world for him too. haha
One of my favorite moments is Reina's champion trial.
I am looking forward to book 3!

Writing was engaging, it kept you pulled into the story!

I've been hooked on this series since Emerald Dawn came out last year, and book 2 did not disappoint. From the very first page, you are completely immersed in this fantasy world. The book has you on the edge of your seat for almost 700 pages and still leaves you wanting more. I loved getting to know Reina more and seeing her come into her power and develop her relationships. While I did enjoy the romance element, the plot in this series is really what has a hold on me. I believe this series is going to be four books long, so we're halfway there already. Can't wait to read more!

I was so excited to return to Thera. This book was everything I had hoped Allison would bring to book 2. The character growth of Reina and Farran was so well written. It was interesting to see how their relationship also develops in this book as we only got a small taste in book 1. What was most interesting to me though was the further development of the politics and the view into the other kingdoms and a taste of how the story will develop further. Not going to lie thst ending left me hanging and I can't wait to read the next chapter and what it holds for Reina and Farran and their friends. I also want more of Leena and Avi. As secondary characters they have so much depth to be explored. All up thoroughly enjoyed this and can't wait for book 3.

Sapphire Noon by Allison Trebacz is a must-read for all fantasy romance enthusiasts, and it's sure to leave you spellbound! From the moment I started reading, I was completely engrossed. My Throne of Glass girls will LOVE this one.

This book and these characters had me in a CHOKEHOLD!!! I had the absolute pleasure of beta reading this book and it is EVERYTHING you want in a Fantasy Romance. The FMC Reina is a morally grey assassin and the MMC Farran is a brooding prince and the tension between these two is palpable. The found family aspect of the story is both heartwarming and heart-wrenching, adding a layer of depth to the narrative. Let me tell you, the spice was SPICING in this one! 🔥🥵🌶️

This book felt like an intense game of chess where our FMC has to make moves against powerful players across the board. The magic system in this one was intricate and I loved the fantastic world-building. I also really enjoyed the antagonist in this one. The Queen was awful and I enjoyed every moment of her on the page. The trials had me on the edge of my seat!! Allison has written a master piece with this one and I cannot recommend it enough!

If you love books with political intrigue, complex characters, a swoon-worthy Romance, or even just fantasy in general read this book. Sapphire Noon is perfect for fans of TOG, GOT, Fear the Flames, and Fourth Wing.

Reina has been forged her entire life to be a weapon, a blade used to topple a queen — never did she imagine that she would end up with a crown of her own. After returning to the Armory to prepare for the trials, Reina and Farran have to pretend like there isn't a wedge driven between them. As the stakes continue to rise and their nuptials draw closer, Reina grapples with her desire for the prince, her feelings of inadequacy, the increasing pressure from Queen Claudia, Regent Cassius and Lukas Avernought as they all try to use her for their own gain.

I will go to war for Reina and Farran! I enjoyed these characters so much and I think their development into book two was absolutely fantastic. I find Reina to be such a great and complex character. Despite her upbringing, she still desires to do right by others and leave a positive mark on the world, but she would also burn that world down for the people she wants to protect. She's not perfect nor is she trying to be, which is so refreshing.
