I dunno, maybe the writing style just isn’t for me. I DNF’d around 50%, which I thought was generous because the plot was all over the place, the side characters didn’t make any sense and didn’t seem to add anything to the story.

Ok so there’s this hot doctor who doesn’t date but he has a twin who likes to torture and humiliate him. Twin is getting married, doctor needs a date to the wedding to get his mom off his back? (But he tells everyone anyway that they’re not together and she’s just a friend so not sure what the point is then)
Sad volunteer is either a corporeal spirit who cant stray from her death location for more than 24 hrs OR has a significant TBI from her accident because she keeps going back to this hospital where her fiancée died 3 years before. Except she’s not a patient anymore she just sorta wanders room to room invading patient privacy.
Whatever, they meet and end up going to twins wedding which is being held at medieval times Orlando. They have pretty cute banter but it is the least flirtatious banter between characters that I presumed to be love interests.
I had to DNF because they hadn’t even kissed yet and it didn’t seem like they were going to. I think 3 different characters had been punched in the face (including the heroine) by that point. 4 people if you include me as a reader .

rom-com with emotions

The book starts with a handsome doctor on a horrible and creepy date. I already knew I would enjoy this book.
Quinn who lost her fiancé 2 years ago volunteers at the same hospital where he passed away and where the handsome Dr. Digby works but they haven't met yet.
Once they meet, they keep bumping into each other. Like many Hollywood movies, the guy needs a date for his family wedding and decides to ask Quinn if she can pretend to be his date. Quinn is dealing with grief and guilt from her fiancé’s death that’s making it difficult for her to move on.
Something I noticed in chapter seventeen is that Jake’s carelessness before the wedding night should have affected Quinn more because of her past. She lost her fiancé to an irresponsible car accident and she just got to know how intoxicated he was that night before coming to the wedding. Quinn wasn't affected at all by this childish act which in my opinion is not a good characterization.
That said, I still enjoyed this rom-com with emotions. It’s pretty funny and I was excited to read more every time I stopped to do something. There is a good twist in the book as well that I didn't catch.

HE'S GOT TO GO - I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I was not sure how it would go with a doctor as the main character, but he came off well. Gabby was my favorite. The humor throughout was sometimes a belly laugh but always giggles producing. The story lines ranged from predictable, a bit of non-communication, to did not expect that. Digby's family were great. My only complaint, I did not like the cursing, not frequently used but still not my vocabulary, otherwise clean and would be a fun story for preteens, too. Source: The author. 5*

SLIGHTLY STALKY - I always enjoy the funny, sometimes silly characters and story lines written by this author. Plenty of good characters and some laughs, even though some of the jokes were "pre-used". The stalky part wasn't by a deranged psycho but well done with how her stalking changed her life in many ways. He was a bit too weak but I understand how difficult it is to make a change and how easy it is to make excuses for some. Source: My Kindle library. 3*

A quick, fun read that I literally laughed out loud at. Even if it was a little predictable here and there, there was a small surprise on occasion and enough tension to hold the interest all the way through. I don’t like how it’s so dialogue-heavy (and dialogue was misspelled) and over-reliant on the speech and internal thoughts of characters for characterization, but I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, clean romance read who doesn’t mind clear pushes at the fourth wall. The plot may have some standard elements but has some flecks of artistic genius in there.

A small suggestion for the author: You mentioned on an opening page that there were editors or reviewers — if they were paid editors or reviewers, frankly, I wouldn’t pay them for this again. This would be an easy 5-star book with some changes — I could overlook these errors as an independent author, but when editors are mentioned, I expect to find less errors and grammatical or formatting annoyances that should have been corrected with the feedback and influence of these editors.

Such a fresh romcom between Quinn Adams and Digby Hyde. It's very funny, with some slapstick setups and plenty of shenanigans. At its heart, it's also about mental health and arrested grief. Digby and Quinn meet at the hospital where he works and she is volunteering. They are thrown together for various romance reasons and help each other out in various dating scenarios. Digby's brother's wedding is a riot with a hilarious weekend in a mock medieval country hotel. There's name jokes, practical jokes, paybacks, family meddling, even a fake funeral.

Author Amy balances the line between humour and pathos. It's closed door and a slow burn and Quinn's healing journey is as important as the budding romance with stitched-up Digby. Such a rewarding read 💕

This was my very first Rom-Com read & I chose very wisely! This was a smart, funny (I LOL several times!), romance with characters that are quirky, relatable & feel real! Quinn is a relatable, witty FMC who's dealing with heartbreak and healing after losing her fiancé in a car accident. Her inner struggle was written so well & it had me rooting for her the whole time! Digby was charmingly awkward trying to avoid another heartbreak. I loved how the story had a good balance between humor & heartbreak but stayed believable & not Hallmark-y. There were also a few twists I wasn’t expecting & I loved that part! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the first rom-com I had read and I didn't know what to expect going in. This book exceeded any expectations I had. The comedy was not overdone and corny. And there are some zingers in there! With all the comedy though the story was actually kind of deep. Quinn and Digby had both suffered tragedy and loss and they have let the burden of those tragedies hold them back from living full lives. This is a story about healing, love after loss, taking risks, and finding friendship in unexpected circumstances. Oh yeah, there is also a nice plot twist 😊

I don’t read a lot of romance but I do like Amy Vansant as a writer so, I gave this one a chance. It was adorable. I read it without seeing the synopsis so I was not clued into the death of the fiancé.
I found it intriguing, full of humor and strife on both parts of Quinn and Dr Hyde.

Looking for a pick me up and a HEA, this one delivers.

I’m not usually. Romance reader but this rom-com was an unexpected delight. Since I like the authors mystery books I gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how engaged I became in the story and how invested I was in the characters. Definitely process it is worth stepping outside of the genre you usually read to try something new.

They met at the hospital where he is a doctor and she is a volunteer (relationships are hard for both of them because they lost people) but over the course of the book they really didn’t spend much time together. Some cute side characters. The fake funeral at the end though? That was a little much

This series, which also includes Slightly Stalky and Slightly Sweaty is perfect for anyone who could use a little cheering up. The characters are sweet and relatable, and you know everything will work out well in the end.

I’m not much of a romcom person, but this book was so good! It was entertaining and cute, and as I was reading it I kept thinking what a great movie it’d be. It did a great job combining light with heavier themes and building characters. I loved it!

He’s Got to Go by Amy Vansant is a fun romantic comedy. I enjoyed the story between Dr. Digby Hyde and Quinn Adams. I liked the jokes between the two regarding their names and the wedding setting. While the book dealt with some heavy topics like grief, I felt the author handled those well. This was a fun quick closed-door romance that I really enjoyed.

This book is centered around death. The death of a fiancé to be exact. Much of the book takes place in a hospital. How on earth can it be funny? You are going to have to take my word for it or read it for yourself to find out! Why? Because it was an emotional roller coaster with such momentum that it would be impossible to explain! It was funny, riveting, sweet, frustrating, and incredibly wonderful! Marvelous characters, terrific plot, and sensational misdirection. Romance is alive and well!
