This was an entertaining story. It was set up really great. I was really enjoying it. The whole dynamic between Rafe and Charli, learning about their past together, and where they are now. The end though just left more questions. I would love to have more of their story because I feel like we’re missing something.
ARC review: 3.5 for me. I felt like we were just getting started when it ended. I'm hoping to get more of their story later. Brother best friend? Yes please.
another cute one but I’m reading to find out about the cult plotline and sadly nothing is being explained and it’s just getting more and more confusing 🫡🫡
THIS IS THE FOURTH BOOK IN THE ST. VALENTINES SERIES. THIS BOOK FOLLOWS CHARLI & RAFE HER BROTHERS BEST FRIEND, EVERYONE THINKS OF CHARLOTTE AS SOME SWEET, HARMLESS SPOILT COLLEGE GIRL. BUT IN REALITY SHE'S A SERIAL UNALIVER...😏 SHE'S BADA$$. THE ENDING IN THIS BOOK HAD ME HOPING WE HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST OF THEM.
A little confused at the ending, but still enjoyable. I wish there was more explanation at least a page or two on why Charlotte did what she did. I guess it did in a way with Rafe leaving her. What I really love, though, is this authors writing style. It was so smooth flipping between Rafe and Charlotte's povs. It worked well with the story. Definitely will be looking up more of this authors books.
💀 Secret Society 🖤 Occult 💀 Hockey Player MMC 🖤 Enemies to Lovers 💀 Brother’s Best Friend 🖤 Secret Apartment
I have not read many books with a completely unhinged FMC and let me say I was obsessed with it. I loved the beginning for these two (give me a brother’s best friend any day), their first spicy scene 🫠. I did not expect the turn this book took and I loved the ending!
Depraved Valentine is book 4 of the interconnected, multi author, St. Valentine Series. It follows Charli and Rafe. This was definitely the easier read of series so far, meaning minimal dark aspects. Besides Charli’s extra curricular activities (non descriptive) for me this fell under contemporary romance with some dark aspects.
I personally felt this book differed from the previous 3 in the series, as in had a different flow and vibe, understandably the series is written by multiple authors so each book with differ, but in my personal opinion besides the brief appearance of a couple of the previous MCs, I wouldn’t even know it was from the same world. Don’t get me wrong it was a good quick read, and I liked the characters and If you enjoy brother’s best friend and rekindling old flames this book is for you. Though I did feel in certain areas it felt like the story jumped and I missed something, which left me feeling confused.
Rafe & Charli: Very different from the books previous to this with VERY little to tie it to the linking series. Not at all what I expected. A slow and soft storyline. Barely brushed over plot lines with little to no explanation which in turn created a lot of unwanted questions. Very true to it's title: Depraved...
Adeline Storm’s "Depraved Valentine" is a gripping exploration of love, secrets, and the complexities of human emotions wrapped in an engaging narrative that masterfully utilizes the best friends’ brother trope. The story centers around Charli, a seemingly privileged college girl whose life is far more intricate than her outward appearance suggests. With a dark secret that sets her apart, Charli is a character that draws readers in, making them eager to peel back the layers of her enigmatic persona.
Rafe, the male lead, is a compelling counterpart to Charli. He uncovers Charli’s hidden truth, which sparks a tumultuous conflict between his feelings for Charli and the implications of her secret. The depth of their relationship evolves steadily, fraught with tension, misunderstanding, and a raw, palpable chemistry that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
Ultimately, "Depraved Valentine" is more than just a romance; it’s a poignant tale about acceptance, the weight of secrets, and the transformative power of love. Storm invites readers to question their perceptions of others and challenges them to look beyond the surface. This book is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance who relish a story with its engaging characters and emotional depth, "Depraved Valentine" cements Adeline Storm as a talented voice in the genre.
I think I just got a little too confused with this one. Not sure if it was the writing or me.
We start off in the prologue with Charlotte then by chapter one it change to Charli. Given that Charli is the serial killer in this one I did think that just maybe Charlotte was her none killer persona and that Charli was the killer one but that didn’t work for other chapters.
I also didn’t get why she was killing people and it wasn’t explained.
I did like Rafe but we didn’t get as much of him as we could have and the take away with him was he was a sweet guy that loved hockey and his dad was a bit of a dick.
If I’m being honest I also felt like the author had just forgotten to add in the ending. Now they would be one of those authors that like giving you the epilogues as bonuses and I will keep an eye out just in case.
I am by no means saying this was a bad story I’m just saying that I felt that there was holes.
"they all think they know me. They think I'm some sweet, harmless, spoiled college girl. And that's exactly how I want them to see me as perfect, pure - because if they know what I really am, they'd run screaming"
Charlotte Masterson has been in love with Rafe Thornson since they were teenagers. However, things changed and they haven't seen each other in a long time. When they run into each other at the gym they find the attraction and want us still there.
3.5 stars - This one is unfortunately less cohesive than the first three books. This one felt like it wasn't as complete and the end left me confused instead of drooling for more.
DEPRAVED VALENTINE St Valentine Series Book 4 🌟🌟🌟 ***This is a DARK academia, so tread carefully. Heavy warnings. This was a little choppy for me, especially the ending. I still enjoyed it!
🖤 Secret Society ❤️ Brothers Best Friend 🖤 FMC Ser!al K!ller ❤️ MMC hockey player ❤️ Second chance 🌶️ 📖 62 pages
*** this is an interconnected, multi-author series. Please start with book 1, Bloody Valentine by Elijah Grey
In Depraved Valentine, Charli has always liked her brother's best friend, Rafe. When they were teens, they started a secret relationship but ended when Rafe left for school. Charli runs into him in college but she now has a dark secret to hide. Rafe and her start to get close again. He finds out about her secret life, can she trust him?
This was such a good book it is my least fave of the series but thats not saying much as they are 5⭐️ and this isn't far behind. I liked the past and connection between our mcs just this couple wasn't my fave
This is the fourth book in the St. Valentine series, and as my stars attest, I struggled. The story itself is good, but it's like one giant plot hole. Not only was I left confused as to how it was connected to the other 3, which flow seamlessly, but the story itself raised more questions than it answered. Charli is a serial killer(?) But we don't know why, and they never get answered. The couple themselves are in a second chance situation, and he find out what she's doing but is happy to discover it? With no explanation as to why this made him happy, I'm left to assume he also has a dark, twisted background. I know it's a novella, but it definitely presented more questions than answers, while only loosely connecting back to the series due to mentioning character within that timeline. It was definitely a good story, but it needed more explanation or expansion, I was left feeling like a missed something.
this is for you if you love a brothers best friend story.. although a short novella in the series, this one is heavy on the plot,minimal.. to no smut in this one but it followed on perfectly from book 3 which was super smutty! so it interconnected perfectly!
we follow rafe, one of hayes teammates on the hockey team at st valentines & charlotte, also known as charli & boy did she take me by suprise!! she is crazyyy! i loved the cross over and mention of our other characters & it made me super happy to see sydney's name again!!
as i say,no spoilers and im not going to say anymore but for a sub 100 page novella,to be so heavy in plot,im impressed & the characters,i loved the switch up between the black cat vibe & golden retriever energy & it was so refreshing to see that our main fmc is the badass... that being said... i'm almost sure that rafe is a dark horse & im super intrigued by him! he is very very intriguing that is for sure!!
the writing style in all of these books is what i love the most to be honest, they're all in styles i like, easy to follow, dual pov & heavy on the plot & world building, everything i look for in a novella, super smutty has its place but one thing i do love is a good world building plot!
wanna know my ratings?✨
characters?? 4.5/5⭐️ i absolutely loveddddd rafe and he is a dark horse,i love that we get a bit more from him,he's a good boy that's for sure but he is a dark horse i can feel the darkness, charli is another murdeous little bitch and i love her for that, the bitch is crazy!!
plot?? 5⭐️ such a good plot & i feel like a crucial part in this whole series,it is vital that we know each character and i love that they all get their own stories spoken for us!!
spice?? 🌶️🌶️ this isn't a one you read for spice honestly, their is a couple scenes but that is it and it's nothing crazy like the others, this is an intermission story into the wider st valentines world for sure!!
overall?? 4⭐️ such a great intermission read, super easy and digestible to get through & a good breif way to jump back in you've spent the whole day yesterday reading then had to sleep lol👹 (that was defintely me lol)
so that's book 4 done,be back soon for more reviews,now let's go to a commercial break x
Depraved Valentine is an MF story that takes place in St. Valentine's University, a shared world. This story is only intended for readers 18+. Please read the trigger and content warnings prior to reading as there are triggering events that can trigger some readers.
Please note that Depraved Valentine is Bk. 4 in the St. Valentine's University Series.
Depraved Valentine dives in and explores how intricately entwined love, secrets, are emotions wrapped up in each other. This novella has an engaging narrative that perfectly uses the best friends brothers' trope.
Depraved Valentine is focused on Charli, a fortunate university girl. Her life is more intricate than you would think just by looking at her. Charli has dark secrets that keep her apart. She is a character that makes a reader want to know her, makes you want to get to know her better, and figure out just what she is hiding.
Rafe is our MMC, and he is the perfect counter to Charli. Once he uncovers Charli's dark secret, it sparks a conflict between his personal feelings for Charli and uncovers the implications of her deeper darker secret that she's kept hidden.
As their relationship evolves, its ever fraught with tension, more misunderstandings, the raw, palpable undeniable chemistry that will keep you breathless and on the edge of your seat.
I can honestly say that after reading Depraved Valentine this is more than just your typical romance; this is a tale about accepting yourself, accepting others, accepting your secrets, it shows how heavy secrets can weigh on a person, and how transformative love can be.
Adeline Storm brings her readers in and asks them to question their perceptions of others, and more than that, they actually challenge them to look well beyond the surface.
Anyone who loves contemporary romance relishes a story with engaging characters and more emotional depth.
I wanted more of this book like I have with the other books in this series so far, I wanted more of this book and I wished if was a full length book rather then a novella, but I loved it none-the-less.
I highly recommend this series. If you haven't already read this series, then you need to start it like yesterday.
Depraved Valentine was a short, easy read packed full of descriptions, an interesting plot, and also a small bit of spice! I loved getting to read both characters inner thoughts about each other and the past relationship they had, as well as each one’s inner struggles and conflicts 🖤
Charli is such a confident and bold fmc with a secret 🔪🩸 side to her that I was totally there for. She keeps her darker side a secret, and she especially wants to keep it hidden from Rafe. In the past, she wanted more than just stolen kisses and being a secret girlfriend with Rafe, but he instead wanted to focus on his future. This left Charli broken and hurting. The way she chose to fix herself was to find a coping method that worked for her, and it just so happened to be hurting, or more so unaliving, men 🩸
Rafe is an opposite counterpart to Charli, and I really liked his character. I thought he was really strong for being able to stand up for what he wanted and to follow his dreams. He didn’t give up on what he wanted to do in life even when his father scolded him and didn’t believe in him. He persisted and worked really hard to get where he is now with his hockey career, even though not giving that up also meant losing Charli 💔 But even after he did let her go, he never once stopped loving her or thinking about & caring about her!
This was a quick & easy read, and I enjoyed reading about them reconnecting and trying to figure out where things are with them now. Rafe regrets leaving Charli and wants another chance, while Charli has been waiting for something. Maybe him, maybe something else. But one thing is forsure, she is not the same girl he used to know! I hope that we get to find out more about their story, especially with how things left off!! ❤️
Adeline Storm’s Depraved Valentine offers an intriguing take on dark romance, set within the mysterious walls of St. Valentines University. This novella presents an engaging premise with a unique twist—the female main character (FMC) as the killer—something I found refreshing and captivating. However, despite its strengths, I felt the story could have benefitted from being a bit longer.
One of the highlights of this book was the undeniable chemistry between the two main characters. The tension and connection were there, setting the stage for what could have been an even more compelling romance. Unfortunately, due to the novella format, there wasn’t enough time to fully develop their relationship. I found myself wishing for more moments between them—more depth, more build-up, and a greater emotional connection. The potential was evident, but the short length didn’t allow for the exploration I craved.
Similarly, I would have loved the opportunity to get to know the characters better. While the plot was engaging, the limited word count meant that character backstories and motivations weren’t as fleshed out as they could have been. Given more time, I believe their arcs could have been even stronger, making the twists and emotional stakes hit harder.
That being said, Depraved Valentine still delivers a solid, fast-paced dark romance with an interesting premise. It’s perfect for those who enjoy quick, intense reads with a mix of suspense and passion. If this story had been expanded, it could have been truly exceptional. Regardless, I appreciate the unique take on the genre and look forward to seeing more from Adeline Storm in the future.
interesting!! if i didnt know who rafe (book 2) & charli were (books 1-3), i wouldnt recognize it as part of the series. which is not a bad thing at all coz its a good quick 🏒romance read by itself with dark elements, 2nd chance with bro's bestie vibe. they still share the st. valentines world, but this is truly more about THEIR story. tho i hope this is not the last i hear of them coz the heat is barely starting, & wanna know more of charli's origin story. oh!! & ofc need more of rafe pls & thankU♥️

"If there's one thing I learned, it's that life doesn't wait."
This book is classified as Dark Romance, and is book four of a shared world series. It does not have a trigger warning list.
The book is written in first person. This book has multiple point of views: Charlotte and Rafe. Charlotte is rich and isn't who she appears to be. She wears an emotional mask to hide who she is on the inside. She is in love with Rafe, who is a hockey player. Rafe is Charlotte's brother's close friend.
I gave this book three stars. The reason behind that is due to numerous reasons. Each chapter had a name to show who's point of view you're following, but Charlotte changed to Charli. This book should not be a part of the series, considering it didn't really have anything to do with the college, let alone the cult. The book also kept saying "Charlotte's brother" like he is a big member, but we never hear his name. If I could, I'd give this book two and a half stars, but I can't so three it is.
I wanna start this by saying I have never read this author before. So it was my first time reading her writing style and work. This was probably a 2.5 stars for me. I typically don't rate books this low but this one was a huge struggle for me.
It felt like this book wasn't even connected to the others. I know it's a shared world but other than mentioning some names, the school. And hockey it didn't flow with the other 3 books.
The story had great potential but if felt lacking in area. There's no real character details given besides a few phrases repeated. I left this book still having no clue what the characters look like due to lack of details. There's not back story or history given as to why our FMC is a serial unaliver. Plus the MMC is just okay with it when he finds out which seems odd.
It's also possible this writer and their style of writing just isn't for me.
Depraved Valentine is the fourth novella in the St Valentine's multi-author, shared world, series. Though this particular installment could be read as a standalone without any confusion, I highly recommend reading all the novellas in the series in order. This will help with understanding things that happen throughout the series as a whole. Depraved Valentine is a very quick read with a high amount of triggers, decent amount of violence and small amount of spice. This story is nothing but a tease, and honestly I am not sure how I feel about that. I definitely want more of Charlie and Rafe, I need more of their back story, more of their chemistry and definitely more answers. The small amount we got of these two is fabulous, potentially deliciously dark. And then the novella just ends, leaving me stimulated and unsatisfied. I still love this series, and can not wait to see what happens next
Depraved Valentine is book 4 of the St. Valentines Series. This is a dark romance, so as always CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS!! Definitely a cliffhanger!
This is Charlotte (Charli) and Rafe's story. Charli is a sorority girl who has always had a thing for her brother's best friend. Rafe is a quiet hockey player who hides his feelings because he doesn't want to ruin his friendship with JD. Both are attendees of St. Valentine. Charli has a deep, hidden dark side that no one knows about...not even Rafe. When her secret comes to light, I feel as though Rafe may have a dark side himself. But Charli feels he can't accept her for who she is, so she runs, leaving Rafe behind. This book is much calmer than the first three and is more about plot and not spice. It's a good palette cleaner following the crazy of books 1-3! I hope to hear more about Charli and Rafe, because I don't feel like their story is over yet!! Great read Adeline!! 🖤
This is book 4 of the valentine series this book includes Charli a sorority girl but she's no ordinary sorority girl, she's a girl that lives the high life but behind that facade is a girl who has power to control and manipulate people to think what she wants them too. Then there's rafe he's charli brothers best friend the quite guy but he always kws what going on he also skates. Charli has a very different vibe to what she portrays she love Bl❤️❤️d and games and to get rid of men. I loved this but I feel there was something missing this isn't the final copy though it will be changed upon release. There just something missing maybe charli could explain why she does what she does to rafe. And would like to see and kw more about rafe the quiet one whys he so quiet and what could he be hiding
This is the fourth book in the St. Valentine series this is for you if you love a brothers best friend story.. although a short novella in the series, this one is heavy on the plot,minimal.. to no smut in this one but it followed on perfectly from book 3 which was super smutty! so it interconnected perfectly!
The writing style in all of these books is what I love the most to be honest, they're all in styles I like, easy to follow, dual pov & heavy on the plot & world building, everything I look for in a novella.
Charli is part of the sorority and has a dark secret that she doesnt want anyone to know. Rafe is her brothers best friend who is also on the hockey team.
I feel like there is more to charli then we think there is in this story and that we will find out later how it all is connected.
This is the 4th book of the Valentine series, and it's with a heavy hurt that I give it such a low rating. However, I did not care for the FMC at all, I felt like almost every page was her talking about how beautiful and rich she was, but how no one really knew her or her dark side. Also, there are so many holes in the story. We never get any "justification" to her motivation to kill, and that ending ? The MMC just finds her dark side and is happy, and that's the end. They live happy ever after ? Again, there is no justification for his reaction. I did care for the MMC a little more than the FMC, but not by much. He felt dull, insecure, and a couple times a crybaby, in my opinion. I understand it's a novella, but I definitely feel like this story could have been good if it had given a few more answers instead of so many questions.
Check trigger warnings, this is book 4 of the St. Valentine's Series the FMC is Charli who is a university student at the same university from the other books she is part of the girls sorority and the MMC is Rafe who is part of the university's hockey team as well as Charli's older brothers best friend. Charli is unhinged as they come for an fmc and she keeps her outside life hidden from those around her. Rafe is being talked into joining the initiation that is coming up soon for him but he would rather play hockey than do what his dad and his dad's friends do. This book is short with little spice and the plot is there but could be more I do understand that this is a novella, but it is a novella that includes the fmc's older brothers best friend and we all know that we do enjoy that. The ending did leave me wanting to know what happens next and did leave me a little confused.
