This book was so much fun to listen to. Michael has a lovely way of talking as if he is just talking naturally to you! It really lifted me up and at times struggled to put it down! Particularly inspired by the garden meditation at the end and it definitely had the ‘wow’ factor. Yes some has been said but not delivered in this way! It has given me a lot of positivity.

One could argue that it may be a little unfair to award the author with five stars for this book because I had already read a lot around this subject and perhaps it was all the background that I already had that allowed me to gain the insights I obtained whilst listening to this book.

So with that caveat, I'm going to go ahead and give this book five stars because some combination of the author's voice, my running whilst listening, the background I already had and perhaps my states of mind each time I listened to it, just caused more insights to happen than at any other time recently.

And having an insight is such a wonderful experience! The mental and emotional cogs that were stuck had finally clicked together and I understood things at a deeper level. Things that I had known for a long time now made greater sense. It wasn't necessarily what the author said explicitly. In fact, some of the examples used are commonplace and might even be urban myths (such as the fear of public speaking being greater than the fear of death).

Nevertheless, maybe the simplicity of the stories told and the examples given allowed my mind to relax enough to make the connections it needed to make. So in gratitude to Michael Neill, I figured top marks for the book is the least I could do.

Isn't it weird how some things turn out? I was chatting with a friend who mentioned this book called Effortless Success. He was actually talking about a completely different book by Jack Cranfield, but I downloaded this one in error, although I have absolutely no regrets.

I actually had a few of those lightbulb moments when reading this book. Michael is not only a fantastic master NLP practitioner, but the way he looks at life is completely unique and not something I have ever read or seen before. Michael is also an actor / comedian, so his stories are really engaging or funny. I found myself laughing out loud on a few occasions.

I am going to embrace the secret garden idea at the end of the book, and I have already started with the mindset exercises.

I believe I was meant to read this book!

The author delivers content that can be found in other books. The plus value is a very friendly, casual but firm tone. The author is explicit about just offering a bunch of suggestions, and the readers should use whatever works for them. This is in contrast to many self-help books which provide a regimen of steps, often to be performed in order, with the circular implication that if you fail, it's because you didn't follow the crazy prescription. The main substance of the book, about effortless activity, comes back to Flow, which is about as solid as the self-help science gets.

Fantastic Book with few unusual ways of explaining the topics such as:
1. Where there is a way, there is a will.
2. Talking about if you dont have time, If I pay million dollar, then would you be having time ?
3. Comparing Procrastination with Newtons third law of motion hence explaining moment of intertia for our procrastination.
4. Getting free Pizza if you are willing to get abusing language.

There is a big list beyond this about his explanation, not to be missed book.

Interesting ideas. At times it feels a bit like a hippy feel good self help program. Actually, the author makes practical comments on how to succeed without making it more difficult than it needs to me. Many time we are responsible for making things difficult in our lives. Definitely not about laziness or productivity as the title might suggest. If you can keep an open mind, there are some gems of thought here.

Listened to the audio version. It's a little difficult to get used to the author's style - conversational to the point of almost too casual. But once past that, what he discusses is actually incredibly insightful. This is not fluff. Alot of these "self-help" type of books are crap, but this is not. Worthwhile.

** best self-help book EVER** ( and I have read a few ) but only comes in audio, really want in book form too. There are a lot of exercises and you need to take notes, this is especially difficult since I listen at work and in the car.

This audio book is changing my life. Becoming more taoist. Summary: hold a vision and keep working toward it but don't "force the river. "
