Lunar Crest University by Cassidy Hudspeth - ARC Review
5⭐️ | 4🌶️

Lunar Crest University by Cassidy Hudspeth tells the captivating story of Finley Dunaway, a woman who thrives on routine until her life is turned upside down by a mysterious stranger—Luca Serrano, her new British Lit professor. Luca, a man with a dark past and debts to dangerous individuals, takes the teaching position at Lunar Crest University to start anew. As their worlds collide, boundaries are pushed, and the undeniable chemistry between them intensifies. With their lives entwined, they must navigate the dangers and temptations that come with crossing moral lines, all while protecting the fragile lives they've built.

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The story is immediately engaging, and the writing is exceptional. The descriptive details are vivid, allowing the setting and characters to come to life in a way that makes it easy to become fully immersed in the story. I found myself lost in this book, completely absorbed by the world Hudspeth created. The introduction to the main characters was refreshing and unique, and their instant interaction was charged with chemistry—not in a clichéd, insta-lust way, but in a well-crafted, authentic manner.

I adored both Luca and Finley. They are such distinct, complex characters. Finley’s sassy nature was a standout, but what truly made her character shine was the balance of her softness, kindness, and relatable insecurities. Cassidy did a fantastic job writing Finley in a way that made her both special and real. Luca, on the other hand, exudes dominance and power—he’s the kind of character that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Serious, strong, and undeniably attractive, Luca is also kind, supportive, loving, and surprisingly vulnerable beneath his tough exterior. He’s the epitome of a morally grey character: someone who does questionable things for the right reasons, without being a bad person.

And, let’s be honest, any male main character with an accent or who speaks a different language gets extra points. Luca’s charm is unparalleled.

Without going into spoiler territory, I have to mention how much I appreciated the way a particular truth was revealed in the story. It was handled so realistically—there was no rush to forgive and forget. The development felt genuine, and I admired how Cassidy allowed time for the characters to process it without dragging the book out unnecessarily. The plot was engaging and the pacing was just right. It progressed smoothly and kept me invested throughout. I was thoroughly satisfied with the ending, and the epilogue tied everything up perfectly.

Now, let’s talk about the spice. Wow. It was so good. Luca’s words and actions had me in a frenzy—his intensity was palpable, and the chemistry between the characters was sizzling. The spice in this book was perfectly balanced—not overdone, but just enough to leave a lasting impact. Some of the best-written spice I’ve read in a long time.

Overall, I wouldn’t change a single thing about this book. It delivered everything I wanted and more. The only thing I’d wish for is more chapters because I’m not ready to let go of these characters just yet. I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to read this before the release, and I’m beyond pleased with the experience. Thank you so much for the chance to enjoy this amazing story!

This was my first read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed. Luca and Finely were everything to me. THE MOUTH ON LUCA😌. But he was also so sweet and attentive. The love he has for his family was beautiful. And I love everything about Finely so much how she can be soft but also strong at the same time and was not willing to take anybody shit. Anyways I will be tuning into the next book for sure!

missed the mark!

I am a sucker usually for a good forbidden romance but this book was painful to read. These two were so hot and so cold and all over the place. It made it hard to enjoy whatever the plot was supposed to be. This book had a lot of plot holes and there was a lack of character development. Not to mention how annoying Finley is.

#Review: *Lunar Crest University* - Cassidy Hudspeth - ARC [21+]
4.7/5✨
3.5/5🌶️

I think I found this book on @threads and I thought it was pretty interesting. So, I applied for an early copy, for which I need to thank Cassidy🫶🏼.

Finley didn't have the luckiest day when she bumped into two men who were fighting. That scene she saw will forever change her life. Why? Because one of them will chase her to end her life, while the other one will win her heart.

Luca was trying to cut ties from his former life and this was when a young lady appeared and interrupted an argument he was having with one of his boss's men. Javier was known for being pretty dangerous and doing some shady things, which Luca wants to get away from. But Finley presence will make this task really hard to accomplish.

After Finley took care of Luca's wounds that night, they thought they will never see each other again. But they are both surprised when they are again in the same space and that's at the school where Finley goes to. Luca was her teacher but she cannot deny her attraction to him.

This dark romance has kept me glued to the book! I was always wondering what's next. It had a couple of breath-taking parts, which were filled with violence and were a bit gross, but it didn't bother me that much. I liked the forbidden romance between Finley and Luca. It was built so good, with many steamy scenes, some were fragile and emotional, while one in particular made me have conflicting thoughts about Luca, but he already has shown how much he cared about Finley and how far he is determined to go to protect her.

I can say to you one thing about this book: you will definitely not get bored while reading it! This story was so exciting to follow, having many critical moments, full of adrenaline. I'm recommending it to all dark romance lovers and to the ones who want to try it for the first time. I think you will be pretty pleased with this one.

✨ARC Review✨

This book had me so captivated and I couldn't put it down. For her first dark romance, Cassidy wrote a solid book. I absolutely loved the forbidden element. The characters were written well and the overall plot was really good.

While walking home from work, Finley stumbles upon some trouble in the alleyway. Helping the man on the receiving end, she cleans him up and thinks she'll never see him again. Until she goes to her first day of class and in walks the mystery man aka her new professor.

Truly, I loved this concept. Luca is a retired hitman turn college professor. Finley is a student, ready to graduate, and can't keep her eyes off her professor. They both acknowledge they won't talk about what happened that night but the pull to each other is so strong. I was eating it up.

Finley's growth is very prevalent in this book. She's smart and knows how to handle herself. And the more se wants Luca, the more she has to decide between what is right and what the heart wants. BUT, she was a little too bratty for my liking. I never really felt like she was 24. She always acted younger, in my opinion. I liked her but didn't love her.

Luca the professor - I LOVED. Luca the hitman I felt indifferent towards. I think because I really love a forbidden romance, the professor role felt more ominous and heated. I was drooling for Professor Serrano more. Does that make sense? Anyways, I did enjoy his character very much.

I loved the suspense elements, the dark academic tones, and the overall vibes this book had. We get a lot of Gilmore Girls references and so bonus points right there.

Again, for a first time dark romance this was entertaining and definitely landed on the dark scales. The spice was SPICY and I really did enjoy the flow of this book. There were a few hiccups here and there for me but not enough for me to discredit this book!

If you want some spicy forbidden love between a college professor and student AND said professor has a dark side to him...then you'll love this.

Thank you so much to Cassidy Hudspeth for the arc copy!!

I read this so fast I actually had to stall myself on purpose. One of the best dark romance I have read for awhile! For her first Dark Romance she is doing a d**m good job of it!

I love the background story for Luca and Finley. I like both the characters individually and how their paths merge together.

I very much love Finley and how she can take care of herself. But when she meets Luca she needs to choose between her wits and her heart.

I loved the two sides to Luca and how he handled the situations that came his way. He is defined one book man to remember.

The spice level was great! It wasn’t a complete spice book, but when the spice came it was SPICY, and that was one of my favorite.

I loved the dark academic style and the forbidden love trope that was going on, and I am ready for more in the next book.

Thank you Cassidy for letting me read this ARC copy and I hope you will choose me for the future 🥰🙏🏼

So grateful to the author for an ARC of her latest release!

Lunar Crest University is the first in an exciting new dark romance series following an unlikely pairing in a small Mid-West town. We follow Finley and Luca as they navigate their not-so-meet-cute and their growing relationship, and the trouble that Luca's past brings with it.

The story is an interesting set of tropes; there's professor/student romance, grumpy/sunshine, age-gap, mafia/gang elements, some light BDSM, a little Dom/Sub and switch play, and more. It's an eclectic mix that Hudspeth has written really well together into a great story that sucks you in.

Our main characters are an odd couple, but it works. The FMC, Finley, is a poor innocent college student with a need for control, while the MMC, Luca, is Finley's new college professor with a dark past that does its best to send Finley's precious control out of the window. The two bounce off each other so well, with Luca helping Finley find her strength while Finley helps Luca feel human. Their love is fast, intense, and hot enough to burn the whole world down.

This being an adult romance, there is of course spice, and it is very well done. There's delicious variety, with some interesting use of facial hair, and a Dom/Sub relationship that loves to switch sides just when you need it. Personally I love Finley as the Dom, it's good to see her be assertive and put Luca in his place.

I feel like this would be a great intro to dark romance; the dark elements are there, sure, but they're mild, user friendly, and add to the story, rather than being the story.

This was a fantastic read, one I thoroughly enjoyed, and I can't wait to see what else Hudspeth comes up with for the rest of the series; I hope we see Levi have his own HEA.

First off I want to say that this is the first ARC I've ever requested, and I am so unbelievably happy that I did! Cassidy Hudspeth is added to my automatic add to cart authors after this book, and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series! Not only is this book so well written, but it kept my on the edge of my seat the entire time with the plot and dynamic between the two main characters! When I tell you that you'll be hooked from the very first page I'm not exaggerating.

If you're a fan of forbidden romance with intense chemistry, emotional depth, and a story that will keep you hooked from start to finish, then Lunar Crest University is an absolute must-read. This book combines all of the angst, tension, and passion of a sexy, forbidden love story with an age gap and background that adds layers of complexity and intensity to the relationship.

What I absolutely adore about this book is the way the characters are developed. I immediately fell in love with the characters, Luca and Finley and their relationship. Both characters are just so realistic and their banter had me laughing so much!

Overall, I strongly recommend if you're into age-gap, dark romance, professor and student books you should add this to your TBR! I strongly believe you won't regret it!

Someone get me some water, because I am thirsty for Luca.

Lunar Crest University follows our FMC, Finley. As she’s walking home from work one night, she stumbles it a little illegal tiff one would say, that she should not bear witness too. Little did she know, one of these men is also her new British Lit Professor.

Luca, our MMC is just a man… just a fine, suave, educated, red flag of a man that resorted to being a hitman in order to make ends meet for his family. He is trying to free himself from that life by being a professor at Lunar Crest and paying back his debts.

But once Finley witnessed something she should have never seen, Luca finds himself dragged back into the life to protect what’s his.

I am a HOE for a professor/student relationship, and I just devoured this story. The tension between the two is palpable and I love me a mans who not only coquetea en español but unalives anyone who threatens his girl 🥵

✨️ ARC REVIEW ✨️

➖️ The last book I gave 5 stars to was in September, and I've been reading some great books lately, but this one deserves all 5 stars I'm giving it! I was captivated from the start! The writing was excellent, and the chemistry between Luca and Finley was compelling! It felt incredibly real and raw! The author provided great detail, making the story vivid. The spice in this book was SO good! The MMC Luca 🥵 I loved him! From his words to his actions! He cares for and protects the FMC Finley, showing his caring side, even if some actions raise red flags. Finley is strong and sexy! I loved her growth and increasing confidence throughout the story! This story had just the right amount of spice and plot.

➖️ Thank you, Cassidy, for letting me be an ARC reader! I absolutely loved it! 🖤🖤 I now need me a physical copy for my shelf! Because this is one book, I definitely see myself reading it again!

this was sooooo good! I find myself reaching for my current read and feeling disappointed when I realize I finished LCU and am reading something else From the characters, to the pacing, to the Spanish (DAMELO!) this was such a great read. It had just the right amount of everything and I am so sad it's over. Luca was so sweet and tormented; and let me tell you, his relationship with his mom warmed my cold dead heart e as for the romance, I loved Finley and Luca soooo much. Their chemistry was electric 4 and their story flowed so naturally. Please tell me we'll get to see some of them in book 2! I'm not ready to let go!

"You want me to apologize for killing them," he states simply before shrugging. "But I won't. I'd do it again. I'll kill every person on this planet if it means you'll be safe. You're the only thing I care about, so if I have to light a fucking match and watch the world burn at our feet to protect you— then so be it."

Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC!✨

4.5⭐️

As soon as I saw this was a professor x student, i was SAT. And boy did it not disappoint. From the very first chapter the author captivates you and you’re immediately lost into the storyline. I loved Luca. He was so caring and truly loves all of his family and will do anything for them. But don’t fuck with him because he has another side to him 🤫 FINLEY✨✨✨ The woman she was. She was such a relatable FMC and i loved seeing her transform into herself while she was with Luca.

I love a good forbidden love trope. This was angsty and all the spice scenes HIT🤌 But the best part was the storyline in this book. It keeps you GLUED all the way to the end. Highly recommend this and it seriously cured my reading slump. READ IT NOW ‼️‼️‼️

DNF.
A former hitman worked for a bad guy for years and decides to quit but he owes his boss a lot of money for reasons that are unclear. He has to repay it so he gets a job as a college professor, because that is easy to do with no apparent qualifications in this fantasy world. Then he assigns papers almost every class, which no professor does ever because who has time to mark that, especially when you are spending your time stalking one of your students? And then there is an optional trip to England which only 6 students go on in the middle of the term, with their professor. Who teaches the class while they are gone? None of it makes sense. And the writing and romance is not exciting enough to make me not care about the believability.

Definitely the change of pace from rom-coms that I needed!

“Do you want me to run away?”

“Not unless you want me to chase you, amor.”

The chemistry between our main characters, Finley and Luca, was UNMATCHED. I loved that from the very first page I was captivated by the writing so much that I needed to keep reading to find out every single thing! I think Finley was very relatable in this story and really enjoyed her character. Luca is PRO👏🏼TECT👏🏼IVE👏🏼
To his family (omg his mama is precious) but especially to Finley! Despite knowing he needs to stay away from her he can’t help but be drawn to help her and keep her safe! He is DELICIOUS. 🤤 Overall, amazing story with secrets, spice, and everything nice! Definitely need more dark romance from this author 😏

ARC Review!

An autumnal university setting with a man that speaks Spanish and will do anything to keep her safe! 100000 times

Finley is extremely set on routine and schedules, works in a small bookshop/cafe and is studying English literature in university. Luca is a ex hitman who has signed up to being an English literature professor at Lunar Crest University to pay off his debt and earn his freedom. DO YOU SEE WHERE THIS IS HEADING????

Okay, this was such a fun read! I loved that from the start this book had me hooked and needing to know what was going to happen. I loved how Cassidy set these characters up to meet and how well it was presented to us so that throughout the book bits and pieces made sense and it all flowed so seamlessly.

Luca is by far my favourite character. The things this man is willing to do for Finley has me swooning and the fact that he was so persistent on trying to keep her at arms length but of course failed miserably. Their relationship even though it develops quite quickly in a sense it still seemed very natural. The spice in this book was amazing and didn’t over shadow the plot or any character development.

Not gonna lie I could listen to this man speak Spanish to me all day long. He could be calling me the worse names possible and I would sit there smiling not understanding a word.

I really enjoyed how the plot was wrapped up and it was filled with lots of suspense and anticipation especially towards the end.

I can’t wait to read the rest in this series and am so grateful for getting a chance to read this.

If your a live elf age gap romance and forbidden romances then this is definitely for you!

Happy reading xx

ARC REVIEW📚❤️‍🔥

mother is mothering

This man was absolute perfection. It's everyone's fantasy to get with the hot professor. But make that professor Spanish and you have my fantasy. Him saying princesa had me feral. Honestly there is nothing better than a man calling you a cute pet name in his native tongue. I thought Dante saying Mia Cara had me but boy, Luca and his amor and princesa absolutely had me. Now imagine my surprise when the man is morally grey. Absolutely LOVED it.

The touch her and you die vibes are strong in this one 🔥
I absolutely love an age gap romance and this was honestly perfection. It had everything I loved. I didn't expect him to be morally grey but boy, am I happy.

The way this man is so down bad for her and he doesn't even know it. Honestly this was such a good read. The tension was there from the get go and don't even get me started on the smut. 10/10 for that alone.

Also add in that he is a British lit professor and is quoting Mr Darcy 👀 The man read Persuasion to her 😭 he is literally the perfect man. If my university experience was like this I definitely would've made more of an effort 👀🤣

I loved this book! It was such a fast paced, easy to read, and spicy story! I ate it up. let’s start with our mmc - Luca is a MAN. (He can call me princesa anytime 🤭) He showed Finley so much care, respect, and put her wants/needs first. I also loved seeing him care for his family. He definitely will do anything for the people he loves. And now our fmc Finley - I loved seeing her grow and gain confidence! I also loved that she stuck beside Luca regardless of everything she seen and learned. Finley and Luca vibed so well together and were definitely made for each other. You could just feel their chemistry and I loved the forbidden aspect of it all. Definitely check this out when it releases!

I received this book as an arc and here is my review:

This book as a dark romance has a lot of promise. I thought the forbidden romance element (student and professor at a university) was really interesting! I think they had a lot of sweet moments and I’m a sucker for when the MMC speaks a different language! This reminded me of a mafia esque romance vibe and that’s a new thing for me! There was genuinely a lot of moments where I was like that was a good scene damn!

I do think there was a lot going on in the story to where it got a bit lost. The story has a lot of potential if some elements were actually taken away for a clearer picture. I thought Finley as a character fundamentally made sense. I think Luca was a bit all over the place but I did like him. I wish they had been in the school setting a bit more, I think it would have been interesting to have more scenes of them navigating this. I also felt like there was a lot of filler scenes.

Okay so I have spent the weekend reading my first ever ARC!!!

This is Lunar Crest University by Cassidy Hudspeth ❤️

Girl, I ate this up.

Finley is our 24 year old FMC, a student who craves organisation and structure. That is until she meets our delicious MMC, Professor Serrano.

Luca, our delicious Spanish speaking MMC is drawn to Finn, even though he knows it’s wrong. But can he stay away? OF COURSE NOT…

Luca is haunted by his shady past which ends up causing issues for his new secret relationship. Would this past scare away any normal woman? Probably? Does it scare away our FMC, nah… it turns her on 🤭🤭🤭

The spice was spicing! 🌶️ 🥵

“You’re the only person I care about. So if I have to light a fucking match and watch the world burn at our feet to protect you, then so be it.” 🔥

Congrats Cassidy you killed it girl ❤️ 🥳

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! The way the author made a ex-hitman turned professor into a real and believable person was amazing. There was great tension and build up throughout the novel. The spice hit in a great way, not over the top but was very realistic. No miscommunication trope and characters worked through issues like adults (so refreshing!). There are forbidden aspects to the story and some TW’s that you may want to be mindful of, but if you love darker themes with spice and a sprinkle of violence you need t9 move this up on your TBR!

3/5 🌶️

This book sucked me in from the first chapter and didn’t let me go until I turned that last page. Cassidy Hudspeth wrote this book so well. We get to know our characters, Finley and Luca, so well with the way Cassidy had laid out all the details in this book. The chemistry between these two? Off the charts. They work so well together, even when they shouldn’t. Forbidden love anyone?

Plot who? Not asking that with Lunar Crest University. Things are happening in this book. It’s not all about love and lust and I appreciate that so much. Luca and Finley have a lot to overcome and everything is laid out so perfectly.

Luca 🥵 has such a dominance to him. And, bless her, Finley is a lucky woman. He could make me crawl to him and I would do it willingly. Spice level of this book was perfect and the scenes were hot hot hot.

Thank you to the author for an ARC copy of Lunar Crest University!

This book sucked me in right from the beginning. The student / teacher trope is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint! Finley and Luca were perfect for each other. I felt so many emotions while reading this. Sometimes I felt the hurt that Finley did and yet I also felt her happiness. I know there will be other books in this world from this author and I can’t wait to read more! 10/10 read and definitely recommend others read it!

„I don’t know what horrifies me more: the fact that I just watched him stab a guy to death in a ghastly display of overkill, or the fact that I can feel the slick between my thighs from it.“

They're both so damn stupid, no wonder they stayed together, they're perfect for each other.

While he's still not as annoying as her, let's be honest, they're both not great characters.

enjoyed !

First chapter in and I’m laughing 😆 I love the way the author writes. It’s so easy to follow and quick chapters too.

I agree with Finley. I don’t want to party either. I would rather be at home watching Gilmore girls too lol and reading

I did enjoy the story. The speed was good. I enjoyed the writing as well. Finley and Luca. 🥵 the perfect pair. Started out rocky and ended beautifully!! A must read if you like forbidden romance!

First book read by this author & I was blown away! I saw her post a reel on Instagram with a little blurb from the book along with the words “Professor x Student Dark Romance” and I jumped for it because that’s one of my fav tropes evaaaa!

This book did not disappoint. The plot was enticing! The growth between our MMC & FMC (separately and together) was so wonderful and all around exciting. The dynamic between them was HOT and the spice in this book was a big ole plus 🌶️🔥

Needless to say, I’m freaking reaaaady for book 2 & anxious to see what’s in store for us!!!!

Cassidy is giving Emily McIntyre, and I love it.

Lunar Crest University is a spicy, swoony romance for those of us who love romance and British literature!

I really enjoyed Luca and Finley’s story. Their chemistry and love for one another is unmatched, and I can’t wait to see what Cassidy has in store for us next!

Thank you to the author for an advanced copy!

I absolutely devoured this book! Dark Academia vibes with professor/student taboo romance. Professor has a secret life & his involvement with his student brings all the skeletons out of his closet. This book was delicious and fun and I love Cassidy’s writing. I have been waiting and waiting for this book & it did not disappoint!
