PRONTI A RICOMPATTARSI E A TORNARE IN AZIONE.
Terrible time to learn this series isn't even close to completing yet after I read everything.😭 I feel like it's getting close but then so far away with alllll the crazy shit that is going on. Very unfortunate, anyway Mikayuu canon otp.
Absolute crazy shit is happening, really cool lots going on which makes it even more painful I cannot continue.
It feels like I’ve lost a battle of attrition catching up to this again,,, it’s been four years, but only two hours of elapsed reading time. Crazy how that works. Feels like revisiting a childhood home or something like that.
OK, time to check in and see how my precious sons are doing!
There was a big reveal last volume about Yu and Mika’s origins, and why they seem fated to be drawn to each other…not that they actually care about that, because what matters to them is the last 16 years of life they can remember, together and (painfully) apart.
But, interestingly, it does catalyze two decisions that seem pretty healthy: 1) Mika getting some motivation back, because 2) Mika having a chat with Yu about the latter’s own overly-self-sacrificing tendencies, and Yu pointing out he has the same problem! Look at my boys using their words and brains! (Sniff!) They grow up so fast…
Getting a bit more slice-of-life-like Yu and Mika time is still delightful. The pair hunting multiple boar and bears to feed Yu’s newly Luffy-like appetite (because he’s actually eating for the both of them) is very funny to me! Especially since Mika seems to have started the fire by Yu: “Even as far back as the orphanage, it was always someone else’s plan. Now it’s our turn to have plans and trick people. Isn’t that fun?” Absolutely! And seeing Mika give big toothy grins and laugh out loud for the first time since he was human feels really good too.
Having a long conversation between Shinoa and Mitsu is refreshing as well. And what a conversation!
NGL, I do kinda ship these two in a toxic yuri kinda way! So it’s a shame they both still seem to have a strong crush on (the entirely oblivious) Yu.
Regardless, Shinoa – just like Mika – now has a new burst of motivation and some new related abilities, and is forming her own plans with the squad. So that’s fun (and slightly alarming).
Plus, we get Ferid backstory! Not too surprised he’s always been a psycho. Though, knowing what we now know, his obsession with reincarnation as a 16 year old human seems very prescient. Though the thing with Crowley!
The author confirms in an end note that we are indeed entering the climax/final battle…so now I’m REALLY annoyed at how hard I’m finding it to read the next set of chapters (at least on something bigger than my smartphone, which the Shonen Jump app would allow)!
Nothing happens in this volume. Empty, meaningless conversations. Protags who spell everything out to the reader. A ridiculous love triangle that makes zero sense and is with the wrong characters. Plot that has derailed into meaningless meandering. If my library wasn’t getting these still I would’ve dropped this series by now.
It was all going so well in the previous volumes, when we found out about the First's plan. I really really enjoyed reading that part. But now...so many random things are happening. It just makes no sense anymore.
ive felt like this series is nearing it's end but then it does something that completely changes my thoughts on that, but not making the series bad or less enjoyable, crazy
2.5 rounded down. I am so glad it starts with essentially a quick rundown of everyone's goals (vampires taking the side of resurrecting Angels I think, Sika Madu resurrecting original Mikaela, and humans resurrecting humans) and where Yu and Mika now stand (resurrecting everyone without God punishing anyone like they've done in the past). It's interesting to see them try to join the vampires (at least partially) and trick them by playing on their beliefs that Yu and Mika have their past lives’ souls in them and not swapped. That said with the recent art change the book-long fight when they came in did not hit like it should have. Then the plot complicates further. I guess Sika Madu might die soon or get overtaken by Shinoa? It seems like it and Shinoa's group now seems to want to be its own faction. We also get a sudden Ferid backstory as we see his wicked uncaring pre-vampire life and how he wants to end reincarnation / still living and just end it all. Whether for himself or everyone is unclear. So then he fucking vores Crowley. Now I know what you're thinking. And yes it is spiritual vore because why not? Turns out Ferid has been spiritually voring a bunch of vampires because vore is what Seraph of the End needs 30 books in. So I guess he's doing his own thing slowly killing / absorbing vampires to end everything? Who knows. Honestly this book ends without really solving anything. Shinoa starts killing or going after Sika Madu but that isn't over. She was made to control demons so she uses Kiseki and Gekkouin which is cool but seems a bit out of left field. I thought she was only meant to hold Sika Madu. I guess she was meant to also control him and others. Could he I just forgot which with Seraph of the End's lore and how its doled out can you blame me? Yu and Mika facing the vampires as he tries to get close to Sika Madu isn't over. He gets close and it's implied Sika Madu might carry on his mission to them but again still not covered. And Ferid appears before Krul meaning she might get vored. Who knows. This volume certainly doesn't.
