Shavonne is in a toxic relationship with a serial killer…and I’m addicted! What his friend turned out to be manipulating him treating him like some patient and paying people to be in a relationship with Shavonne so he could monitor him?! Now I’m super suspicious of this editor that’s came about! Need the next book now!

I was feeling unsure about getting into this series as I found the first volume to be boring and at times annoying. I am so glad that I gave myself another volume because volume 2 was fantastic. This is clearly not a healthy love story and that is ok. It’s obvious that Lewellyn is not mentally well right off the bat but in this volume it really got into his mentally unwell Shavonne is too. Does he even actually like Lewellyn or is it just extreme loneliness that has him thinking he does? It is also so sad that Fawkes is not really Shavonnes friend but actually just hanging around him to keep track of his mental health. I am very excited to find out more of the mysteries in this series and to see if these two men actually have something real or if it’s just a toxic storm waiting to rain down. Also on a totally unrelated note to the review I am curious to why this book is more than other manwha by Ize press. I thought I was going crazy when I saw the price.

Wow, this absolutely destroyed me. The plot was meaty but the character arc for Shavonne and Lewellyn blew me away. At the end of S1, we found out what happened 8 years ago in Lute Penitentiary between Shavonne and Lewellyn from Lewellyn’s perspective. That itself was heartbreaking enough, but in S2 we got it from Shavonne‘s perspective and my god, it was an emotional ride, and when they made a reference to the novel “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” and drew parallels to them being the soldier with one leg and the ballerina, it made me want to weep. I really appreciate the author retelling their shared past from each character’s perspective because it really did explain so much and made the puzzle pieces fall into place. Either of them could be the soldier or the ballerina, they both were different from the crowd and so they could understand each other. And from this understanding, they found comfort in each other.
I really liked the development of their relationship over the course of the story. At first there was this awkwardness and suspense because we all thought that Lewellyn was this weirdo who had untoward intentions towards Shavonne. But as they spent more time together, they began to understand each other and became more reliant on each other. For Lewellyn, Shavonne was the one and only person who had shown him what it meant to be a person, and for Shavonne, Lewellyn was the one and only person who had loved him, and they became each other’s saviour, reason to live on and entire world. It explained so much about Lewellyn’s initial actions and I loved how the art changed as the plot progressed, showing Lewellyn as this anxious person who had finally found the guy he loved, instead of his initial impression of being a suave and confident guy.
The author did a really good job with navigating the nuances of their relationship. It’s definitely not your typical love story and for both characters, being in love with each other was a novel experience that scared them, but we as readers were able to understand their motives, fears and inner thoughts. The plot was also concluded nicely, with all loose ends tied up, and I was so happy that Shavonne and Lewellyn were able to live out the rest of their lives together happily. After everything they had gone through, they deserved this peace, the chance to be a normal couple.

Alright, I’m definitely seated now. I swear each chapter feels better than the last. And the suspense in all of them? It’s killing me (hopefully not literally ;-;).
Well… riding this out also because I know , and I don’t think I would like my heart to take it if it wasn’t the case. But yeah, I just hope/wish . That, and we find out soon .
I am not sure where this story is going but it is just my kind of crazy right now. Wondering if he should break his legs so he can't leave him? Chef's Kiss.
But I am so interested, our serial killer doesn't hid who he is but he is eager to be loved by our writer. But also crazy. Both are crazy, he knows he is a killer and is like as long as you don't do it again, lets be together?? I am here and not going anywhere.
Another great volume! Shavonne and Lewellyn are so sad and lovely. I still wish this had an ebook version, and I hope one day the novel source material gets an English translation.
