Mountains are indifferent to lovers or their perils. Chance Montgomery and I were best friends in childhood, but we grew up in different cultures. Our parents' disapproval has created a divide between us. As an ex-military firefighter, Chance swore to save others before himself. He never dreamed he would face so many dangerous challenges. Neither did I. I’m terrified he could get killed; I know I can’t cope if he did. The fear is overwhelming. Then there are our parents -- and the cultural and age differences. Love may not matter to the mountain, but it keeps us fighting to survive another day.
This is a well written book with strong characters in Chance and Asia. The author does a great job developing the story and paints her scenes perfectly. She brings a story of faith, support, romance and love, moves it fluidly delivering an enjoyable read.

Great book recommend it to anyone who who likes a very strong H and a h who is willing to face a great challenge when she determines that she needs to it. The H and h have known each other since they were children. They did things together. The H leaves and serves in the military and when he returns he becomes a firefighter. They decide that they love each other and will get married, but first they need to meet each other’s families and tell them that they are getting married. Then the h tells the H that she is afraid to marry him because he is a firefighter and rides a motorcycle both could result in his death. The H in great frustration takes off on his motorcycle to think through what the h has said because he views what he does as part of who he is. Before he gets home he is attacked by three men who then take him far from home and dump his body off thinking he is dead or will dye soon. When the H recovers consciousness he realizes he must start moving and get himself home. He doesn’t know where he is but he heads down the mountain in spite of all his injuries knowing that his survival depends on it. He travels for days and along the way finds some food and water. He is also attracted by a pack of wolves and he successfully fights them off. They leave but he knows they will follow him and attack him again. When he finally gets back to the part of the mountain where he recognizes where he is he faces a forest fire. Using his knowledge regarding forest fires he maneuvered through the fire seeking to get out of it. In doing so he hears the h calling his name and he responds to it. Responding to her voice they find each other. He then leads them out of the fire. They still aren’t safe the wolf pack finally decides to attack. They are saved due to unexpected help. In the end the H and h get their HEA. This is an exciting read and will keep you reading late into the night. ENJOY!

Roman hooked me from the start with the joining of two different cultures and showing the struggles to mesh them together. Asia and Chase have been best friends since they were young even with the cultural differences. Asia’s traditional Japanese upbringing and Chase’s lifestyle caused friction in their families. This amazing story pulls at your heartstrings and is filled with a plethora of emotions. Roman takes you on a rollercoaster ride with some unexpected trials along the way in hopes of reaching their HEA! I loved it so much that I couldn’t put it down. I will definitely read more from this talented author! 5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WINNER 🥇🏆
Chance Montgomery and Asia Sugano had been friends since they were both kids. Despite their differences, she had a positive influence on him growing up. And being around him soothed her own anxiety. Their friendship was the kind that would never fade. She was his anchor. Although their parents disapprove of the cultural differences, they have always been there for each other. Facing challenges can be difficult; but being with each other, physically or mentally, enables them to get through the most difficult of circumstances. With each other they are stronger and can make it through life’s fearful moments. And nothing else is more important for both of them. Love is the ultimate goal. Have they reached it? Haven’t they always?
Chase and Asia are so close but their different ethnic backgrounds are causing problems for them. She was brought up with Japanese beliefs and values while Chase was raised by a strong American family. He returned from firefighting military service and they reconnected. Fantastic characters, strong backstories and strength that won't be stopped. The storyline is fast paced, vivid with beauty and terror. Forest fires, wolves, families not willing to bend and an ending that that inspires you. This writer captures the deep emotions, feelings and situations elegantly.

Loving an Ex Military Firefighter is a stand-alone read with a hea.
Chance and Asia grew up friends despite their cultural and differences. However, their families disapproved which eventually caused a rift between them.
Love does find a way if it is meant to be. This is a good read and I highly recommend it.
This is an intense book, and I really loved it. It is a study in whether two totally different people, different cultures, impetuous/careful, different philosophies, but a deep love and respect for each other can make it against the odds. An important part of the story is their fight, against the odds, nature, family, and danger. I look forward to reading more by this author.
What a journey of determination and suspense. Two people from very different cultures united by their friendship and love. The obstacles they encountered threatened everything. But following the evolution of their story was inspirational. I really loved this book, and you will, too.
For being the first book I have read by this author Roman it was pretty good. The cover and title is what caught my attention right away. I enjoyed the storyline but can say that if it had some spice added to the romance between Chase and Asia this book would be really awesome.
This is the story of Chance and Asia, who were best friends as children. Growing up the disapproval of their parents put a wedge between them. Now years later, Chance is an ex military Firefighter. Will they get together? their families still disapprove and the cultural and age difference play a role. But Chance is a strong man, ready to protect her, which is how things should be. I loved that there are very old fashioned views. A must read story!!.
