Ivan and Annalise McClain never imagined they'd find a home like Thibodaux Estate. Nestled in the heart of New Orleans, the two‑century‑old mansion was everything they'd ever dreamed of — grand, elegant, and seemingly untouched by time. Every inspection came back flawless. Every expert assured them the house was sound. It was the perfect place to build the large family they'd always wanted.
But some houses don't reveal their truths until you're already inside.
When Annalise's longtime friend and interior designer, Tarah Simpson, begins her renovation work, she uncovers a strange partition wall that shouldn't exist. Removing it awakens something buried deep within the estate—something patient, listening, and eager to be remembered.
Tarah has always believed that houses have destinies and that only those whose lives align with a home are meant to live there. The mysterious rideshare driver, who refuses to even step onto the property, claims that Thibodaux Estate was never meant for anyone. He won't speak its name. He won't touch its door. Because, as he warns her, "when you call something by its name, either on this side of reality or another, it tends to listen."
And Thibodaux Estate is listening.
As secrets long sealed behind walls begin to surface, the McClains discover that the past is not finished with them—and the house they thought would shelter their future has been waiting generations for someone to open the door.
This is a haunting, atmospheric Southern gothic tale of destiny, memory, and the things a house refuses to let die.

A Beautifully weaved story about a centuries old mansion called Thibodaux Estate. Its majestic and awed by everyone. It's history is renowned by many scholars. So why has it remained abandoned for so long? What secrets does it hold? . It is unique and original. It will make you tread lightly within its walls never knowing what mysteries it will reveal or feelings it will inspire within you, while at the same time warm your heart. That is if it likes you. Do you dare enter? That is if Thibodaux Estate will let you.

Though I truely loved the story itself, I just do not care for explicit sexual description and there is quite a bit in this book. The story itself deals with a grand house in New Orleans that is for sale. The couple who view it fall in love with it and buy it. The wife's best friend is a well known interior decorator and they hire her to made the home a show place. Many paranormal activities happen as the story progresses. Narration was very well done and made the story even more interesting.

The main story was gripping, developed well as it progressed and I did enjoy it, however, the graphic sex scenes aren't my cup of tea, and didnt add to the story in my opinion. As I listened to this in Audible it was just a case of skipping forward through them.

Another great Riano McFarland book. Not what I expected at all, but still a great listen. Seems that Mr. McFarland has ventured into the highly erotic field.
