Erin Clifford brings genuine expertise to the advice she gives in Wellness Reimagined: A Holistic Approach to Health, Happiness, and Harmony. She’s a licensed mental health counselor, a National Board‑Certified Health & Wellness Coach, holds a JD from DePaul and a master’s in mental health counseling from Northwestern University, and serves as a Corporate Wellness Consultant. When it comes to wellness, Crawford isn't messing around.
The book covers key dimensions of wellbeing—nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, mindfulness, and intentional self‑care. It integrates these seamlessly into daily living, offering practical strategies that feel doable rather than daunting, while at the same time framing wellness as a personalized, evolving journey. She encourages readers to build routines that reflect their own values and life contexts, prioritizing harmony over rigid balance.
Wellness Reimagined is an excellent foundation for those venturing into holistic self-care or seeking to reframe wellness on their own terms. It blends professional insights with a flexible mindset—making it especially valuable for busy professionals, parents, and wellness seekers who need encouragement more than innovation. It is:
Ideal for novices: The simplicity, clarity, and tone make it especially effective for those needing direction and motivation.
Less ground-breaking for seasoned readers: If you’re deeply versed in wellness literature, you may find the advice familiar and prefer more specificity or novel research.
Still, a wonderful guide to revisit: Its accessible tools and compassionate voice make it a good reference book to return to, whenever life feels out of sync.
Wellness Reimagined isn’t trying to be revolutionary—it’s aiming to be sustainable. It’s an invitation to begin wellness on your own terms
Wellness Reimagined presents itself as a flexible and personal approach to your wellness journey. It covers a wide range of key areas such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management and mindfulness. Erin also gives practical tools and resources for personal goal setting. While the book promotes an accessible and holistic view of wellness, I found it too broad and non specific at times. It is honest and well intended but lacks some depth. Each topic is touched upon, but I didn't feel that they were explored in enough detail to offer fresh insights or truly actionable strategies beyond what is already widely known. This book reads more like a general wellness guide rather than a reimagining of the concept, and I wished for more substance and nuance, particularly for readers who already have a foundational understanding of health and self care.
That said, Wellness Reimagined may work well for those just beginning their wellness journey and looking for a gentle, encouraging introduction to holistic health. The emphasis on flexibility and personalised approaches is a strong point, and together with SMART goal setting at the start making it a helpful resource for anyone overwhelmed and unsure on where to start. However, if you’re looking for deeper insights or a truly new take on wellness, this may not be the most impactful read.
Thanks to NetGalley & Forefront Books for the opportunity to read and review this ahead of time!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a digital ARC so that I could provide my opinion.
I requested this book from NetGalley because I’m always interested in health and fitness, even though I tend to side-eye the title “wellness coach” when it's not backed by real science credentials. That said, Erin Clifford brings more to the table than most—she holds a master’s in mental health counseling, which gives her work a stronger foundation than the average influencer peddling green juice.
I appreciated her inclusion of SMART goals (always a helpful framework), and the “wheel of harmony reflection” was a nice touch—I’ve used similar visuals before and found them effective for self-awareness and goal setting. The book does have a lot of blank pages meant for journaling or tracking, which felt a bit like filler to me; a notebook could easily serve the same purpose. Still, the content that is there is thoughtful and encouraging.
Clifford’s personal and professional background is compelling, and it adds depth to her approach. This book is a solid primer for someone new to wellness or someone like me who's fallen off the routine and needs a nudge to get back on track. Even those already deep into fitness might find it useful, especially if they tend toward perfectionism and need help reframing their mindset.
When I requested this ARC, I thought from the title that the focus was on health. It’s basically a self help book by a wellness coach about things like work-life balance, determining your values, and making time for self care. I don’t really get anything out of this kind of thing and they all seem to say the same things. If you have never read a self help book by a wellness coach and you want to ponder your life and future, you may enjoy this one.
The cover of Wellness Reimagined is beautiful and I like the focus on "harmony" as opposed to "balance". The wheel of harmony was a new concept for me and helps give you a different perspective on wellness and really personalizing it based on what is most important to you. Other than that, it was standard health information that I've heard before. While on a high level it is a book about heath, it gave me more of personal development vibes. Thank you NetGalley and Forefront Books for and advanced copy of this book. #WellnessReimagined #NetGalley
