With Esyn and Ari sworn in as Alpha and Luna of the River pack and peace in the packlands, Avelin and Jamie have finally found their happily-ever-after. Or have they?
On a diplomatic mission in another shifter town, Avelin meets someone who could completely upend the happy life that she's built for herself in Riverton. What should she do when the Goddess herself steps in and throws all of their lives into utter chaos?
Without spoilers, this book is a good continuation of Suddenly Fated. I loved watching the found family grow. Avelin grew a lot in this book, and it was a relief to see her not repeat the same mistakes she made in the first book. The love story was really well done--despite my apprehension because Jamie is such a great character and why-chose are not always my favorite stories. Haven introduced Kellan well and made their relationship work seamlessly. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys why-chose romance, Fated Mates, paranormal romance, political suspense. If you don't like open door romance, this one is NOT for you. There were a few things I wish would have happened, but I'm not spoiling anything,
This is the story of Ari and Esyn, who find out that they are fated mates. The only problem is that Ari is already married to Avelin. Not to mention, fated mates haven't happened in a very long time.
Esyn was hired to take photographs of the annual Holiday Gala. As she's taking photos around the ballroom, her eyes meet Ari's as he stands on the stage to welcome everyone. Esyn tries to run because Ari is married - this can't be happening.
Ari would be Alpha as soon as his father stepped down. He and Avelin were not fated mates, but they were married to form an alliance between the packs. Both packs were the largest packs, and the alliance brought peace between them.
That night, everything changed for everyone. Ari and Avelin instantly agree to an annulment. Avelin admitted that she had a thing for Jamie, Ari's Beta, and Ari gave his blessing. Ari and Esyn agree to give it a chance (more Esyn than Ari).
However, someone is working against them. Ari's mother is vocal about her disdain for Esyn. But Esyn ends up poisoned, involved in a vehicle accident, kidnapped, and fighting for her life on more than 1 occasion.
Despite everything, she becomes close with Avelin, Jaime, and Ari. She takes lessons to learn how to be a Luna and is overall great with everyone.
By the end of Book 1 - Ari and Esyn have a daughter named Kiera, and they are very much the HEA they dreamed of.

I absolutely loved this sequel. We follow Avelin this time and it did not disappoint. 🌶 begins almost immediately to give you insight on what happened from the first book and then picks up some time after the first book. The plot had me hooked and the 🌶 kept it 🔥. I read through it so quickly because I was hooked from the beginning. I think Haven Gwynn is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
I liked this one better than the first one. The drama was on point, the spice was hot, and who doesn't like a why choose? Quick easy read that sucks you in. You don't necessarily need to read the first one to understand the story line in this one, but it helps and gives you a background on the characters. Will read again.
I didn't think I could like a sequel more than book one, but dang this was good! And hot! I wasn't sure how things were going to work out at first but I'm a sucker for a why choose and I love how the author brought them all together in a respectful way. If you like sexy wolves, this one should be on your TBR!
