Rate this book
Morgan Van Daal was an omega gymnastics legend until a devastating accident shattered her dreams, leaving her with chronic health challenges and a ruined sense of smell. Now, ten years later, she’s a sports medicine fellow who’s mastered the art of balancing ambition with avoidance—excelling at work while keeping alphas, and her own designation, at arm’s length.

But when five very different men enter her carefully constructed life, Morgan’s walls begin to

-Cal, the steadfast pheromone specialist whose partnership feels dangerously perfect.
-Wyatt, her former flame whose volatile pheromones threaten more than his coaching career.
-Alijah, the sweet beta photographer whose insecurities mirror her own.
-Joaquin, his magnetic mate who sees through her defenses.
-Owen, the enigmatic pack leader whose very presence unsettles her.

As workplace pressures mount and undeniable romantic connections deepen, Morgan must decide—can she protect her heart while proving that designations don’t determine destiny?

This was a fresh somewhat more sophisticated take on the Omegaverse genre with a former Olympian turned sports doctor and while I appreciated that, I personally had a hard time finding many of the characters appealing or connecting with the plot much.

I appreciated the disability /chronic illness inclusion (FMC has sustained a TBI and suffers migraine disease, seizures, amsonia, and more) but I felt bad for the FMC’s sister who was her primary caregiver doing all the the cooking and constantly checking in on her, organizing her life to the point of exhaustion so that she could pursue her dreams of being a doctor despite being independently wealthy (self described multi millionaire). She seemed fun and warm I’d probably enjoy a book about her.

The FMC Morgan came off to me as cold and flat in affect, interrupting the MMCs or turning them down constantly. She also took really poor care of herself leaving everyone around her to be rescue rangers.

At times the spicy scenes had a clinical quality to them. There was lots of handjobs and fingering mentioned. TBH I don’t really know many ppl in their 30’s getting up to that kind of activity.

It felt more like reading a fiction book for me, not a romance bc I just wasn’t super engaged with the characters. Despite that the writing flowed well and I’d recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for something different in the OV genre. I think the characters will continue to be fleshed out more in future books and the spice will be upped as the relationships develop.

DNF 45% (No rating cause it's not the book's fault)

This is simply a case of “this book is not for me”.
I wanted to test my boundaries, but I suppose the Ironside Academy series was very light and unconventional on the Omegaverse, and the real thing is not something I can read without being severely irked.

I’m posting this anyway to say this DNF is ON ME, not on the author, who really put together a splendid and solid debut book where I could only comment on it being a bit heavy on the descriptions/other POVs, but overall quite polished.

What’s not the author’s fault is that I chose to read the book when I should have known that words like rut, heat, pheromones, scent, nest, pack, knot are big nos for me.

I'm not sure if this specific vibe is for me, but a friend really loved this so I promised her I'd try!

ARC review! Honest comments!

I simply cannot believe this is a debut novel???
Also, please note this IS MY VERY FIRST OV so if my comments are unhinged/dummy sounding it's solely because of that..... Allegedly.
Anyways, first things first the author does a bang up job of *really* hitting what an chronic illness (got I hate that I align with that phrase because I don't like to think of myself as disabled but I am, ew.) feels like in a day to day. The struggle of trying your hardest to live a "normal" life but also suffering pretty much all the time.
The first few chapters were confusing for me as the full scope of info didn't really come until about chapter 4. BUT I must applaud the technical skill of the wiring and the flow which was FANTASTIC. Amazing pacing. I'm REALLY looking forward to the next installment and I can't WAIT to see the progression of the boys, Morgan and the EXCELLENTLY FLESHED OUT SIDE CHARACTERS (IM SORRY I CANT STOP YELLING). *Seriously* what a skilled and great brain the author has.
And now, without further ado as I do in ARC reads, my unhinged notes:

SPOILERS BELOW 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 SPOILERSSSSSSSS

Laughter, pure, unguarded laughter, the likes of which I hadn’t experienced in ages, poured out of me, earning the most endearing smile from Cal as he studied my face, undeniable yearning in his hazel eyes.
For a few precious seconds, I felt attractive—not broken.

Rating: 5/5
Spice: 1/5
POV: Multiple 1st

I jumped into this book not knowing what to expect. And oh boy, for an omegaverse, it was so different from what I have ever read so far— in the best way possible.

Can you imagine being an omega deprived of your sense of smell? Unable to produce pheromones? After an accident ended her dreams 10 years ago, Morgan is now just trying to finish her fellowship in sports medicine. It is already hard enough trying to navigate through everyday life with the health issues that plague her, the last thing she wants, or needs, is to catch the attention of Cal Carling and Pack Redmond… plus Wyatt.

This was definitely not a short read, but the pace was just perfect. Shorter than this, and it would have been a crime because this kind of story needed space to breathe. There was depth to the characters, the story, and everything felt so raw. My heart ached so badly for Morgan; illness didn’t always bring family closer, sometimes it made irreparable damage.

Wyatt might have been the one who got away, but I was so glad that it was Cal who managed to break through Morgan’s defenses first. He was exactly what and who she needed in the present time: a patient and reliable force. And when he purred for her? Her first ever Alpha purr? Yeah, your gorl here got emotional. I am on team Cal right now, but Owen is too intense to ignore. Can’t forget Joaquin the little devil and sweet, sweet Alijah.

I loved reading about the research aspect of mating and pheromones, and the small subplot involving the football team in Morgan’s care did not feel out of place.

Citius is book 1 of a trilogy so be warned that it ends on a cliffhanger. Not an evil one (thankfully), but it left me anxious so I need book 2, please!

This was honestly one of the best Omegaverse books I have ever read. Its unique storyline and characters made this a definite 5 star read.

This wasn’t exactly a cozy, sweet story. Not was it a dark story with morally gray characters. Rather, it was a story about people with significant trauma. The FMC, Morgan, is an omega and was badly injured ten years prior to the the events of this book. She has struggled with physical issues since her brain injury and despite her best efforts, she simply can’t just put it aside. She is clearly suffering and just trying to exist on some days.

Morgan’s story is heartbreaking. In a world of alphas and omegas, where scent is everything, Morgan has no sense of smell after her accident. This has long lasting and traumatic effects on both her and her omega. But she tries so hard to not let it stop her. She really is an amazing character.

Cal is amazing. Supportive, loving and always patient with Morgan. I’m not quite sure how I feel about the other men in this book quite yet. As this is a planned trilogy, it seems that Cal and Morgan’s relationship was the focus in book one. I love them together, and honestly, I am not 100% sure that I think she needs more than Cal.

This book was seriously excellent. It ends on a cliffhanger, so be prepared. I am now not so patiently waiting for the next book!

honestly feral over this book and when I have time I really want to deep dive because the world building is a SIREN'S CALL to the sociologist in me.

my TLDR is if you truly love omegaverse and you ever wonder what our world would TRULY look like if that were our reality... this is 1000% the book for you. I'm so unbelievably excited that this is a series. I hope once the series is over she continues to write in this universe and quite frankly, I hope more of the nuances/smaller details in this story crosses over into new OV authors writing

I could go on about this forever tbh

Citius hooked me from the first page to the last. The characters are real, raw, and relatable, and the push-pull of their relationships was enthralling.

My heart hurts for Morgan and Wyatt, for everything they have endured, and I'm desperate to see it all made right. Not just for them, either, but for the pack as a whole. Waiting for Altius is going to be so hard!

A different take on omega verse for sure, the writing is good and the pace nice.

The main issue I had with the book was the main character that I found exceptionally egoistical and cold as hell, I felt bad for everyone around her all the time tbh 😭

Unfortunately, most characters lacked depth and I didn't not really manage to connect with most of them.

I must have read a different book because I wasn't captivated by the story or the characters at all. Most of the characters felt 2 dimensional, and I have no idea why anyone wants the FMCs attention so badly. She's dull, hardened, and doesnt even display a slight glimpse of a winning personality.

Successful business man? Of course his personality is cold and steely.

Artsy submissive dude? Crippling anxiety to match his unsteady upbringing.

Flirty colleague? Let's make him a not so secret billionaire.

Not a series for me, another one I would have DNF'ed if I was a quitter

Kinda disappointed in this one…. I read the whole book because I thought for sure something was finally going to happen and it did… in the last few pages. I felt like a good chunk of this book could have been taken out and you could have just combined the next book with this one and it would have been way better.

If this is the author's first book, it's a great start. I think it'll just get better! Rating this a 3.75/5.

This contemporary human omega-verse centers on Morgan, a celebrated Olympic gymnast champion. She has an unfortunate accident leading her to retire from the sport. She becomes a doctor and starts a fellowship at a university where events lead to her meeting her harem. However because of the accident, she has lost her sense of smell and other health issues. In terms of world-building, the author does a good job of setting up the environment and it's a believable world. We understand her painful past and trying to build a life after.

Right off the bat in the first few chapters, you're thrown a ton of names. The main male characters, Morgan's family, some of the mmc's family, friends, colleagues, random one-offs, and even names of her cats. Oh and let's not forget names of places either. Honestly, it was very very distracting. And the character naming didn't stop after chapter 11. Nope. Of note, Morgan has four parents & six siblings, and there are eleven (!) supporting characters of varying importance. The last time I had to reference an author's website so I could keep track of the characters was Jane Washington's Plier series. And even that series, had only 11 characters that mattered. Nevertheless, I soldiered on and a bit annoyed whenever a new name came up.

Character profiles can be found on the author's site but the main male characters are:
Alijah - Beta that works at the university, who is bonded to
Joaquin - Alpha that works at Ballet company where Morgan's sister dances
Owen Pack lead, Is VP to the BioTech company that produces a health monitoring product.
Not part of the pack (yet):
Cal - Alpha, former football player, works at the university
Finally you have :
Wyatt an Alpha she knew before her accident. Now working at the university

I found I enjoyed the push and pull with Morgan & Cal and between her & Wyatt. I didn't form an emotional attachment to the remaining males as much. Alijah is super sweet, Joaquin is a bit odd, and (I'm convinced) Owen is just a robot. In spite of my own opinions, their individual relationship and connection with Morgan feels realistic with each developing at its own pace. Even the forming of the pack is progressing naturally slow with the remaining two males. There's something going on between Owen and Cal that I hope will be explored further in the second book.

This book isn't overlong, clocking in less than 450 pages but at times it felt lengthy. There are a lot conversations and situations that didn't lend much to the overall plot. If these scenes were condensed or edited it would have made for a snappier story. (Do we care about her having lunch with a friend who doesn't reappear in the book? What about all those names and are they really necessary?) Despite some of these imperfections, I found this story engaging and easy to read.

Tropes you'll find:
- MM F M M M (Two mmcs are together)
- Slow burn, slow build (you get pining & longing)
- 2 of 5 spice🌶️🌶️
- Human omega-verse - scent matching, heats, ABOs
- Friends to lovers
- Sports
- Second chance
- Workplace romance

Thank you to Greer Hudson for offering this as an e-arc.

I just finished Citius: The Scent of Victory and I am hooked. This omegaverse romance kicks off what promises to be a really amazing trilogy, and I’m already fully invested in Morgan’s story.

Morgan is such a powerhouse of a character—an Olympic gold medalist turned sports medicine fellow after a devastating vault accident that left her with lasting injuries. Her journey from gymnast to healer is emotional, realistic, and empowering. I really appreciated how Greer Hudson portrayed her strength without glossing over her physical challenges. Her disabilities are part of her, but they don’t define her—and that balance felt so authentic.

The sports medicine setting was super engaging and the introduction of Morgan’s growing connections was a slow-burn. Cal, the alpha pheromone specialist, is a literal dream match for her, and the chemistry there? Chef’s kiss. Then there's Owen, the driven CEO and pack leader, Alijah the artsy beta/social media whiz, and Joaquin, a lighting engineer and Alijah’s mate. And of course, Wyatt—Morgan’s old flame/frenemy from her gymnast days—is back, bringing all the unresolved tension with him.

There’s a lot of emotional groundwork laid in this book, and I can tell we’re heading toward something special with this found family/pack dynamic. The emotional tension, the slow development of the pack bonds, and the layers of backstory make it feel really grounded despite the omegaverse setup.

If you like strong female leads with real vulnerability, complex relationship dynamics, and a story that honors both ambition and healing, this one’s worth picking up. Can’t wait to see where the next book takes this group.

Slow-burn lovers, this one is for you! While I usually devour those fast-ish burns, I also live for a slow burn when the characters are that compelling and the story has me hooked, desperate for more. And Citius? It delivered.

Morgan Van Daal had me in my feelings from page one. Being an omega with no sense of smell? Absolutely torturous. Not only did she have her dreams ripped away, but the loss she suffered? Unfair doesn’t even begin to cover it. My heart ached for her, but I also adored her strength. She’s determined, smart af, and not about to let her designation define her—even if these men start making it impossible to keep her walls up.

And let’s talk about those men. Whew...babyyyyy...these men had me gasping. Cal is just so swoon-worthy - he knows what a treasure Morgan is and babyyy he eats her up and treats her right. Wyatt? My sweet, stinky Wyatt... I am rooting for Wyatt. I can't wait to see how their relationship evolves.. Alijah my sweet baby angel, the most adorable beta who I want to wrap in a hug, and Joaquin who sees right through Morgan’s defenses in a way that had me turning into a pile of goo. And Owen? That man is serving BDE and he is the perfect pack leader. I felt like every relationship felt rich, layered, and so well done.

Then. That. Cliffhanger. I wanted to scream. (Okay, maybe I did.) But I’m a somewhat patient girl, so I’ll just be over here counting the days until book two. If you love slow burns, complex characters, and a romance that makes you feel—Citius, is an absolute must-read.

Loved this book! Can't wait for the 2nd one.

I am a fan of Omegaverse, except for heats - I hate it when characters lose their free will/minds due to biological urges.

Anyway, this book neatly sidesteps that issue by giving the FMC a disability, anosmia (caused by a traumatic brain injury), that isn't debilitating in the real world, but kinda is in OV due to their society's heavy reliance on scents for finding partners, emotional states, etc. It, along with her other TBI-related issues, made a great reason for her to be somewhat socially awkward and isolated, despite her character being extremely driven and successful professionally. No sense of smell = no pheromones making her lose her mind over guys. Although she's also on suppressants for most of the book.

The characters were really well done in this, too, with each one seeming like a distinct person with their own backstories and issues. There is a bit of miscommunication, but it feels natural to the story since it's caused by FMC's TBI/memory loss. Thr relationships also feel like they're developing naturally, nothing feels rushed.

Anyway, I'd highly recommend this if you like omegaverse books. The 2nd one is supposed to be out in a few months.

Second Chance

Morgan struggles with the left over symptoms of a career ending injury. Things that are simple for people are hard for her.

All her men were coming from each and every direction in the beginning.

Cal is my favorite, with Alijah right next to him. Joaquin’s banter was lighthearted and exactly something Morgan needs.

Wyatt and Owen are still enigmas to me. Though by the end I’m happy to see both of them stepping up more.

I can’t wait to see more of the men in the next books, I feel like we just got a glimpse into all of them.

Throughout the book we see the challenges Morgan faces just to get through the days. She’s devoted completely to her work even at the detriment of herself.

I also hope we get to meet Jacobi in the next book!! I loved how he basically integrated himself into Morgan’s family and how they all talk about him like he’s a bonus sibling.

This book reminded me why I don’t read unfinished series!! The ending KILLED me. I’m also kind of rooting for a Kelsey book because after Morgan gets her HEA Kelsey deserves a massive one.

What a MARVELOUS debut!! I was immediately drawn to Morgan’s character and her incredible persistence. The chronic illness and medical rep in this book was so thoughtfully explored and it was so fun to have such a large supporting cast with unique personalities alongside the main characters. Cal and Wyatt just stole my heart here, and I so want to give Kelsey the biggest hug for what she is sacrificing to help her sister. I hope we get a spinoff about her finding her own pack one day!

***ARC Review***

Morgan is an omega, a doctor, and someone dealing with the results of a traumatic brain injury. This story follows her during her fellowship as a sports medicine doctor at a local university as several alphas (and a beta) gain interest in her, despite her best efforts to reject them.

It’s multi-POV, past tense, and contemporary.

While this world pulls from Omegaverse themes, it does stray a bit from the genre. There’s only a few spicy scenes after 70% into the book. The focus is more on world building, character development, and Morgan’s day to day life in her research project while experiencing symptoms of her condition.

I believe it’ll end up being a reverse harem, but this book focused on an MF relationship.

It is a little unclear for the first part who the main characters are, so I suggest spoiling it for yourself a little before getting started.

That being said, it was a good first novel and I’m excited to read the other two in the series and see where the story continues. I really liked some of the characters and get invested in their journey.

Not your typical omegaverse

From a winning athlete to suffering from a traumatic brain energy in the span of a few moments. One careless mistake ruined her life plans.

Morgan now suffers from chronic pain and migraines mixing with the fact she can no longer smell those she comes into contact with. As an omega not being able to scent the pheromones of the people around her causes a lot of issues for her.

So now she is a fellow in sports medicine for a college. She never expected to cause a man to take notice of her let alone several men. Then of course there is an awkward blast from the past who was her scent match but they parted ways and she doesn't remember what happened between them.

I absolutely love the way the Pheropass is being used and studied in this series. It is fascinating and add in the whole purr therapy. I can't wait to see what is next with that.

Of course this book ends on a huge cliff hanger with so many unanswered questions. What is next for these characters and how will this event shape their future?

5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Citius is a very well written book that I finished in one sitting and left me wanting more immediately.

I love a good omegaverse book but Citius is definitely one of the best I have ever read. I liked everything about it from the plot to the characters and it really hooked me.

The characters are all well developed and different from each other. There's nothing worse than the men being carbon copies but that definitely did not happen here. There's a very good mix of personalities that makes the characters feel more realistic and likeable.

The plot is really good as well. I liked that it had an actual storyline and was not just focused on the relationship/romance of Morgan and her potential pack.

I would definitely reccomend this book to anyone and I cannot wait for book 2.

A thought provoking, slow burn omegaverse that deals with the aftermath of a traumatic brain injury and makes Morgan unlike the rest of her omega counterparts. There are so many great characters in this and so many threads moving through it. It was absolutely incredible both in writing and the breadth of the story. As someone who has a non visible disability I really felt for Morgan, trying to push through while working for her fellowship, dealing with misogynistic omega-phobes and working on a data heavy bioscience project, I struggle getting through a day without any of that!
And within this, we have Joaquin and Alijah, brothers Owen and Wyatt and Pheromone Stud, Cal, all of whom add complications and an occasional orgasm to Morgan’s already busy life.
This is an emotionally complex book, with fascinating characters and storylines and is so easy to read.

Greer Hudson's "Citius" is one of those rare books that hooks you from page one and doesn't let go. Following Morgan, an omega navigating life's challenges after a career-changing accident, this story is raw, real, and absolutely captivating.
The characters are the real stars here. Each one feels so different and genuine - no cookie-cutter personalities in sight. Morgan's journey is both heartbreaking and inspiring, showing incredible strength in the face of tough obstacles.
If you love stories with depth, complex characters, and relationships that feel totally authentic, "Citius" is your next must-read. Hudson proves that debut novels can be absolute magic!

Amazing! Love the story building and showing the how Morgan's life has been impacted from a traumatic injury and how she's been healing and showing how long if ever it take to heal an injury. Plus having to change her life path from what she had planned and had worked on for so many years to something else because of those injuries.

The slowly growing relationship between Morgan, Cal, Wyatt, Joaquin, Alijah, and Owen is amazing. Even though Morgan doesn't want them to know right away what happened to her from that injury they are slowly understanding the depths of how traumatic it was.

I'll be patiently waiting for books 2 & 3!

Loved this book ! Morgan was a great FMC she’s an omega who has been through so much and she deserves to find love. She’s headstrong & I love a strong main character who isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. The MMC’s are very different too with all their own personalities and quirks I didn’t have any trouble remembering who anyone was. I really enjoyed how the main characters jobs were a big part of this story. I’m excited to see how the relationships develop in this series & the plot! I know at the end of this book we see the characters profile’s, but i hope for the next book we get more of the side characters names because there’s a lot❤️

Holy Hannah!

I had no idea I was at the end of the book! The rate-this-book page actually startled me, I was so engrossed in this story. In a nutshell, this book is utterly brilliant. The characters are wonderful and flawed, beautiful yet hilariously ridiculous, but mostly they feel so real. I love Morgan, and her pure independent stubbornness is almost like looking in a mirror. I appreciate how everyone is damaged in their own ways, but it is just a facet of their personality, not a useful plot point. I am absolutely hooked on this story and its characters, and I will wait with baited anticipatory breath for Book 2!

absolute perfection

There is absolutely no way this book will be mistaken for any other in my mind. Yes there are omegas, betas and alphas but that’s where the comparisons ends with other omegaverse books. There is pain, hope, love, devastation, family drama it’s just all there. The writing is superb and the characters amazing. This is a must read and I can only hope books 2 & 3 come along fast!

I really loved this read.
It was refreshing to read in depth trauma and the realities that are faced afterwards, especially with accurate anxieties and responses in interactions and everyday life after her accident.
I’m really excited to find out more about Morgan’s story and her learning to love herself and let others into her new reality aswell.
Book two couldn’t come soon enough ❤️

Is her first book? Because OMFG is amazing. Is so well written, the story is engaging and the relationships are building (nothing is rushed and I love it!!). I’m curious to know what happened with her sister (aka what she did to her) and why her family don’t question that hate. Can’t wait for the second oneeeeeeeeeeee. Kisses from Brazil 😘

Citius was definitely a great start to Morgan's story. It flowed well, and the world building was great. I enjoyed getting to see the medical side and understanding of this omegaverse. I'm definitely waiting on my toes for the next book!
