I have never ridden in a real submarine. Only the one in San Marcos, TX which does not really count. I only know one man who was a submariner. I think he was extremely brave!! To me, an old Texas girl who is just as at home guttin' and skinning a deer as wiping a baby's bottom, i find WWII extremely horrible and praise God and Jesus that my father was pulled out to care for his sick wife and baby (me). He missed the Battle of the Bulge. Oh, DARN!!! Which is why he lived to his 80th year. I am totally facinated by anything military and/or war related.
Third book is creative story wise but a bit predictable. The tanker - cruiser collision was a bit of a reach. Captain of the sub releasing the saboteur, considering the nature of his characteristics through the whole series is unexplainable. The German sub captain figuring out the American move and strategy every time was unrealistic.
Capture of the Honduras base was expected. The end was a given early in the book.
This was book 10 of this series. The fact that he used the same characters in this book made it easy to follow the story line. I still believe that the author (Scott Cook) must have bee a submariner himself because of all the detail that he puts into his books about how submarines work. Incidentally, whoever the artist is that creates the cover pictures does a terrific job too.
As always - a phenomenal book by a great storyteller!
Scott Cook does it again! Jarvis and the squids, spies, ground-pounders from both sides kept me so wrapped up in this thrilling page-turner that I finished this one in a day! Helps that I'm waiting to start a new job. Keep it up, Scott - maybe a new Jarvis as well, sometime, pretty please? 😉🤪🤘☠️
The way this ends was very unexpected. And really good work! I kind of started and stopped the first few chapters and then got wrapped up in the story and loved the climax.
The author has written a very intriguing, suspenseful and action packed story of the Naval submarine action in south Atlantic Ocean. A great story that will provide you with some very exciting and enjoyable reading.
Good story enjoyed how he intermingled the two subs in the story. First book I have read that had a lot of info about the war in the Caribbean area. Anyone who likes military stories will enjoy this author and series of books.
The first word that comes to mind is corny, James Bond on German sub. Could not push through to the second chapter to many good books to read, no time for this. No more Scott Cook please.
As a navy destroyer Vet (Korea) I await any of this author’s Navy books as he does them so wonderfully well. Now we need a new series about destroyers keep them coming.
