Among You by Rylie Dark is a fast, gripping FBI thriller. It’s one of those books you can tear through in a couple of sittings because the chapters are short and the pacing just keeps you turning pages. The mystery unfolds bit by bit, so you’re always trying to figure out what’s going on, and the scenes are written in a way that’s easy to picture in your head. It’s more about the case than deep character drama, and if you read a lot of crime thrillers you might see some of the twists coming. It also follows a familiar formula if you’ve read other books by Rylie Dark. It’s not trying to be deep literary fiction — it’s just a tense, entertaining read, perfect if you want something quick, suspenseful, and a little cinematic.
I am still keen for a female perp. This book was not well explained at all, it seems the main characters sister has totally disappeared from the story without explanation. There continues to be many grammatical mistakes and clunky/repeated paragraphs. The perp was also underexplored in this one. I am really only reading them because they are quick, easy and I have gotten this far. 3 🌟 Read in 3.5 hours
This kept the story of the Rock sisters going, with the mystery of the murders adding to the drama. The book was a very fast read, seemed to be over soon after I started it. It tied up the loose strings with the crime but left some of the family relationships issues open.
