I read Beyond You by Rylie Dark and I have to say, it hooked me right from the start. The whole premise — teachers being murdered in abandoned schoolhouses — gave it such a chilling atmosphere. What I liked most was how every victim had some buried secret, so as Hailey dug deeper, you’re piecing together this bigger puzzle right along with her. Hailey Rock carried the story for me. She’s sharp and steady, not flashy or over-the-top, which made her feel believable. The pacing is classic thriller style- it starts out strong, then just keeps tightening the tension until you hit that final stretch where you can’t put it down. I enjoyed how Dark keeps the writing clean and suspenseful — no wasted words, just a steady build-up that makes you want to keep flipping the pages. The ending left me satisfied but also curious to see where Hailey goes next in the series. I’d call it a solid, old-school page-turner. It’s the kind of book you can sit down with and before you know it, hours have gone by.
This is a very good series, the interactions between the characters is excellent and adds to the plot. The plot is gripping and has many different paths. The book ends with a cliffhanger so you need to read on to find out what happens. This is a series that definitely needs read in order.
