Across Oceans Through Time: A Story of Enduring Love

Rate this book
Italy’s past and America’s promise collide in a love story that defies the distance.

After her mother’s death, Serafina Cicconi spends her young life caring for her family in the Marche region of Italy, navigating her father’s strictness and her brothers’ playful chaos. As she shoulders the burdens of family life, Serafina dreams of escape, freedom, and perhaps even love—a hope that seems distant and impossible in a land where tradition often holds women in place.

Albasio Volpini has returned from the battlefields of World War I to a country scarred by loss and struggling to rebuild. Determined to start anew, he sails to America with dreams of prosperity and the chance to make a better life for himself. Yet, as he navigates the gritty streets and prejudice of his new home, Albasio ‘s life is turned upside down by a photo of a young woman. She becomes both his anchor and his dream and a reminder of his homeland.

Separated by continents but bound by a love as enduring as the hills of Italy, Serafina and Albasio navigate a world marked by change, loss, and uncertainty. Through letters and fleeting connections, they forge a bond that defies time and distance. Will Serafina's strength and Albasio’s determination be enough to bridge the gap between them? Or will hardships and political unrest pull them apart?

A sweeping tale of resilience and romance, Across Oceans, Through Time captures the courage of two hearts determined to find each other across oceans and years.

It Ended Too Soon

Words almost fail me. Serafina and Albasio's story leading toward the second world war was heartbreaking. Serafina at 17 stood firm against all obstacles to live her chosen life with the man of her choice. Her strength of mind carried her through family and government difficulties until she accomplished her goal. I don't recall reading a book that affected me more than this one. I highly recommend this fiction based on the author's known facts of her grandmother's life.
