An evocative, emotional novel that illustrates life in all its messy beauty from New York Times bestselling author Wendy Lindstrom
One ordinary day, Kate Weston woke up, drank her coffee, then abandoned her life.
Her search for an unapologetically honest existence drives her back to her hometown—a place she vowed never to return to. With her marriage in shambles, her family ties broken, and her friendships lost, she finds herself destitute and alone in the wilds of the Adirondacks.
Amid the grim reality of her situation and domineering husband’s sabotage, she fights for independence and holds her world together with duct tape and shoelaces. As she struggles to rescue a stray cat and heal relationships with her quirky friends and angry sister, she embarks on a wrenching and often humorous journey of self-discovery that will change her life in ways she never could have predicted.

I received an advanced copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was hooked on this book from the beginning! You're immediately plunged into the scene of a woman deciding to give herself a fresh start.
The way in which this book was written, I felt as though I was watching someone's real life play out on a reality TV show. You sit here and root for the main character as she discovers herself and her own strength, as she faces some incredible highs and painful lows. She finds help in relying on the strong power of friendship, all while navigating and confronting mistakes of her past. I would personally categorize this as a slow book - but in the best way possible!
This was the first book I've read by this author, and I'm now excited to read more!
Life is messy and difficult! Kate found the courage to walk away from a situation that was no longer serving her and in doing so, was forced to confront her past. I loved how raw Kate's character was and how the story really seemed like a true life event, rather than a happy situation for a book. I wish I had Chloe and Maggie as friends because they were so invaluable to Kate and helping her rebuild her life. This book will make you laugh out loud one second and tear up the next. It's beautiful!
Done with her old life, Kate makes the extraordinary difficult decision to walk away and not look back. Picking herself up and facing her past is hard and emotional and Kate must face some hard truths along her way. Gripping, enthralling and highly captivating as we embark on this journey with our fmc to right wrongs and mend friendships, it’s an incredible read that has you laughing one minute and crying the next as Kate changes her life for the better.
Wendy Lindstrom delivers a masterful, emotionally resonant novel that captures the raw, unfiltered beauty of starting over. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Adirondacks, Done With is a powerful ode to resilience, honesty, and the beauty of imperfection. It’s ideal for book clubs and a must-read for anyone who craves emotionally rich, character-driven women’s fiction.
