When a bad breakup leaves Khendra reeling, she and her best friend Cherelle rent a 1920s bungalow in the heart of South Central LA. They're determined to make the place a home despite a handful of strange occurrences and the best efforts of their creepy landlord, an off-putting man with a penchant for gardening and unannounced visits. But when the unexplainable incidents continue to escalate, they're forced to consider that their new home might be haunted. Their faith and friendship are tested as they work together through hoodoo tradition to find--and destroy--the root of their disruption.

I’m shook. I’m sad. I’m satisfied. I went from comforted, to stomach churning horror, to grief, to acceptance all in one novel.

It pays to do your research. Sarah knows very little about hoodoo or living in California.
Within the first few pages you realize Sarah's from New York.
Has she been to the south? Has she been to California?
Before Sarah writes another book she needs to do the hard research so it doesn't sound like a high schooler wrote a book.
