I was so excited for this book thinking it would be like Darkly, Madly Duet by Trisha Wolfe. God! I was so wrong. This book tried to so hard to be that duet, that it became dumb as hard rocks.
We are in 2025 already fgs, can we please stop “body betraying syndrome” BS. Some glimpse for you all, at a point i was physically recoiling yuck.
22% I hated the way I reacted, how my body betrayed me, 23% the touch so deliberate, so cruel, that my body betrayed me with a shudder. 25% But my body betrayed me, frozen in place 37% I hated myself—for the way my body betrayed me, 37% My body betrayed me, hips bucking against his hand, 40% Her body betrayed her, stiffening, but not before I caught it— 51% Her eyes were wide, desperate, screaming in silence as her body betrayed her, 54% his breath warm against my skin, soaking in the way my body betrayed me. 55% I hated the way my body betrayed me, leaning into his control. 56% I tried to move, to sit up, to push myself to act in some way—anything—but my body betrayed me. 68% It was wrong. My body betrayed me, heat pooling low in my stomach even as fear clawed at my throat. 80% Her body betrayed her, shivering as if some part of her already knew. 82% She trembled, and I relished it, the way her body betrayed her, the way her lips quivered like she was choking on every scream she wanted to let loose. 91% My body betrayed me, a low whimper spilling from my lips 92% My body betrayed me, every ounce of strength drained as I lay crumpled on the cold, unforgiving floor.
Like i can skip 200 pages and her body was still betraying her?
The plot? Half-way and still non-existent. The character development? Hein? What is that, brother. The editors? Vacationing in Antarctica it seems. Cuz the monologues were all the same in every chapters just different fonts.
The fmc was supposed to be a psychologist but the way she was acting all oblivious and was taking eons to figure something out a 10y old can in a minute was so embarrassing.

This book reasoned that Intriguing tropes ≠ Good book. Sigh
he’s a hit man & she’s a physicist. he comes to her for help, but he’s obsessed with her. this book sucked me in and it had me hooked; there were times where i questioned if our fmc was dreaming or was living certain scenarios in reality.
our mmc is so unhinged and dark & possessive which is what we all dark romance readers look for in a male. his way with words just had me on the edge of my seat every. single. time. the ending was mind blowing… it took me a few days to piece it all together and i absolutely recommend this book 100%
i loved the way the author put so much detail into this book it was hard not to feel like you were living in the moments along with the characters. amelia’s trauma is something you learn about the deeper you get into the book and it just keeps the story so much more interesting, after learning damian’s past, i felt such a soft spot for him. 🖤 forever grateful to have been able to be chosen to arc read this!!
A therapist. A hitman. Nightmares blur into reality. From the start this book sucks you in and captivates you.
Amelia is a therapist, she has her own traumas from her past. Damien, who is a new patient of Amelia's, is a hitman. These two have an unexpected connection. They are drawn to each other and there is no stopping it. Damien’s obsession with Amelia has no end and Amelia, who shouldn’t be drawn to Damien, can't help herself. The back and forth between these two and the mind games of this story are addictive and it will be hard to put this one down.
Go into this book blind, but buckle up and enjoy the ride that it will take you on through the twisted world of Damien and Amelia.

"This wasn't cure. It was an addiction "
Amelia was a psychologist with a mindset that she can help everyone and cure them 🤭
"I’ll let her ruin me. I’ll f**king thank her for it."
I was so so so immersed in the book. That I need sometime to understand the difference between reality and illusion. 🫣🫣
I enjoyed it so much. This book will slowly seep into your brain, and you will feel it taking over your thought process. You'll be so amazed once you align with the story.
Millie and Damien were so impressively written and the were complementing each other. And I really enjoyed the chemistry and the tension and the steam between them.
Damien was dark and he is intense and really intense and Millie was a good girl and the way her emotions were all over the place as you move deeper into the book.
The plot and the twists were like a boommmm. You'll be like i never saw it coming. It was so dirty and delicious at some aspects and hot af.. 🫠🫠
The aura was so dark and hats off to the author with such brilliant name of the chapters and how they were aligning with the context and you'll be like damnnnn..
I'm really impressed with the writing style of author and the way she made me question everything around me. It was magnificent. I need more of your work please..

Damien is a hitman, and Amelia (Millie) is a psychologist. She becomes his primary concern when he becomes fixated with her. He wants to shatter and love her at the same time, and she wants to help him. Before Damien entered her life, Amelia believed she had overcome her prior trauma. All she wanted to do was help others and I think this was a means for her to cope with her own pain. Damien feels that he is and always will be a monster because of his prior tragedy. He has accepted himself as he is. When Amelia tries to help herself and him, she fails in her attempts and ends up betraying him.
“This isn’t about wanting you, Millie. It’s so much worse. It’s hunger. A goddamn need. Like an addiction, I have no intention of kicking. Possessing you isn’t a goal—it’s a necessity. Every fear, every secret, every filthy little thought you bury in the dark corners of your mind—I need it. I need you.”
There are so many twists and turns in this novel that I don't want to give too much away. Dark Therapy is not a book for the weak of heart. Check your TW before reading, please. I wanted to yell and hurl my kindle across the room at times, yet I also adored this book. I really cared about the characters. I certainly enjoy an unhinged man, and Damien was the ideal fit for that. He had my heart in this book. You cannot help but fall in love with him. This is a must-read dark romance.
This book is something else entirely. A psychological, emotional rollercoaster that digs deep into the rawest parts of human nature.
Blackwood created something so unique with this story. As someone who loves psychology and exploring the depths of the human psyche, this book was perfect. It’s a masterclass in control, fear, and the complexities of human emotion. The way it strips down its characters, exposing every ugly, vulnerable, and consequential choice, made it feel so real.
This isn’t your typical happily ever after—and that’s exactly why I loved it. It’s unapologetically human—filled with trauma, emotions, and decisions that don’t always have clean resolutions. It doesn’t sugarcoat anything, and that’s what makes it hit so hard.
And that plot twist at the end? Did. Not. See. That. Coming. It hit me like a brick, completely blindsiding me in the best way. The slow burn—delicious. The emotions—intoxicating. Every moment built up to something so intense that when it finally unraveled, it was worth every second.
If I had to give one critique, it would be that some of the dialogue felt a little repetitive at times. But honestly? It didn’t take away from the experience. This book was raw, haunting, and beautifully real—and in so many ways, deeply relatable.
This story isn’t just a book—it’s an experience. One that stays with you long after the final page. If you want something that makes you feel—something that’s dark, thought-provoking, and deeply psychological—this is it. Highly recommend, and I already know I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time.
DNF at 40% My very first DNF Feels freeing lol I really tired to get through this but its boring as hell, the writing sucks, its all just repetition of the same things, the characters are insufferable, like how tf am i supposed to believe theyre 30 when they act like middle schoolers smh 🤦♀️ also no plot Do not recommnd and i wont be taking book recs from random pinterest accounts anymore ☺️

"Keep fighting," he whispered, his voice low and dripping with twisted satisfaction. "It's beautiful. The way you struggle. The way you light up when you think you still have a chance."
This book was a wild ride. I'm not sure I really knew what was going to happen in the end at any point until it actually happened. My opinion on the characters and the story changed constantly, and tbh, I really didn't know where I was going to land with it until I reached the end. But in the end, I loved it. Nora has a captivating way with words that pulls you in and gives you enough to keep you interested, but never quite gives anything away. Damien was like that as well. Infuriatingly cryptic yet laying it all out there in the open. I think the frustration I felt reading it was probably akin to some of the frustration Amelia would have had dealing with this man. At times, it felt more like a horror novel than a dark romance, but I actually liked those parts the best. Damien is, without a doubt, completely psychotic, and even though you search for redeeming qualities, you somehow know you'll find none. He's spectacularly complex and beautifully simple all at the same time, and Amelia is drawn to him like a moth to a flame. The ending had me screaming, and I'm looking forward to the absolutely unhinged insanity that I know is coming in the next book. (There is a next book, right Nora??? You can’t leave me hanging like that! 😂)
Thank you to Nora Blackwood for the advanced reader's copy of this book!
Reading one chapter per day in the days before the story's debut and finishing it on Christmas was the author's brilliant concept. Pure genius because for Christmas she gave her readers an ending that will knock the stockings off the chimney (that almost worked)
The whole therapist-patient dynamic is the first piece of this novel that grabs because of the distinct barrier and witnessing it falter flawlessly.
Let’s not dismiss the whole “… hi I’m Damien I’m a hired hitman ..” that also CLEARLY grabs your attention..
What you don't expect is to delve into the interior of a disordered, preoccupied mind. It was a bone-chilling experience to learn so much about Damien's relationship with Amelia, and it was hands down one of the most intense forms of sickness.
Without Amelia's complicated personality, the story would be far less intense. I did my damnedest to yell through the pages, warning Amelia of her fate.(am I the only one that does that?).
Taking the story day by day I’ll admit it made the slow burn aspect of this book… damn near torching but I love the idea and glad to have been a part of it.
January 1st,my birthday, myself and all of my tainted dark readers should grab this book.
“I want to protect her. But goddamn it, I want to ruin her just as much. I want her to need me. I want her to break and beg for me. It’s all I think about. Every time she looks at me, it’s like I lose a little more of myself.”
I had to process this book before writing a review And has it been a ride.
Damien and Amelia are currently living rent free in my mind. The hitman and the psychologist who occupies his mind. Honestly, I thought I was going crazy with Amelia because I too, couldn't tell the difference between reality and illusion.
I felt every emotion Amelia went through, it was raw and dark and twisted in the best way possible. Her pull towards Damien was so addictive and left me craving for more.
Damien is the psycho that every girl should turn away from but ends up running towards him anyways. The way he taunted Amelia left me frustrated. Those whiskey eyes filled with every intention to claim every ounce of control Amelia thought she had.
As a girl who loves written word, the letters always have my heart. I live for "love" letters that Damien wrote to Amelia.
@norablackwoodauthor made sure I was hooked on this book like a h00ker with c○ke add!ction. I can't wait to see more from her.
I absolutely loved the premise of this book and the author had me hooked on the storyline until the very end. Damien was the ultimate unhinged MMC and I just wanted more!
This book was unhinged and intense in all the best possible ways!
Dark Therapy follows Damien Blackwell, a notorious hitman with a chilling past and Amelia Harper a thriving psychologist who believes she can help just about anyone. In walks Damien as her new patient and Amelia's world is turned upside down and triggers flashbacks from her traumatic past. As their twisted worlds collide, will Amelia be able to help Damien or will he cause her world to crumble and fall apart???
This book was a cat and mouse dark psychological romance. Damien is obsessive, deranged and completely unhinged, but he makes it look good! While I saw the writing on the wall for the final twist at the end, I really enjoyed this ride. I started this book on December 1st and read one chapter a day (the author's idea for her ARC team) and I really enjoyed the slow burn of reading the book this way. The ending definitely has me wanting more especially, maybe a prequel book about Amelia and Damien's past selves.
This book comes out January 1st and if you are a dark romance reader, I definitely recommend picking this book up! There is beautiful character art throughout the book and that just adds to the experience.

My thoughts
Nora Blackwood is fantastic at setting the scene and describing the setting. You get a real sense of where the characters are, what emotions they are feeling and you feel fully emersed in the story.
Nora keeps you hooked and plays with your mind. She has you constantly questioning whether things occurring are a dream or reality. It's captivating throughout.
It's an unconventional, controlling and torturous relationship, but you can't help but become invested in the relationship.
Nora shows character changes throughout the book with Damien turning Amelia from hpw she appeared as a strong, intelligent woman into his weak, fragile play thing, with his psychotic games. Damien will always be Damien but Amelia does also affect in him in ways he is not used to and brings out a slightly softer side of him at times.
Nora keeps you enthralled through the suspense she creates with the twisted, obsessive games and past traumas. The ending was just perfectly fitting to the story.

First of all!!!! YES! I really enjoyed this story from start to finish and it got all my attention immediately! I found myself thinking about the book when I would have to do boring stuff like “adult “ during the day! 🤣😭
🖤 This dark and twisted story follows Amelia Harper the psychologist! And Damien Blackwell the hottest hitman to ever walk into Amelia’s office and turn her world upside down!
🖤 trauma has a funny way of crawling back into our minds and consuming us. What happens when you think you have those moments in time compressed into a tiny part in your mind! You think it’s so far gone! You believe that your life is changed and you have grown from your past! But then one single person can walk into your life and make you face all the trauma and flashbacks again, as if they never left. Fun right ? 😈
🖤 Amelia meets Damien and all he does is turn into the fictional psychopath we all love the most! 🖤 obsession and the need Damien feels consumes him and he never ignores his needs 😏
✨ “Don’t you want to dig into those shadows? Explore the twisted corners of your mind?”
✨ “Careful, Millie Curiosity can lead you down a dangerous path.”
The twist and turns had my vision blurry 🤣 and this story will always live in my mind! Will I reread it ? HELL YES! I just need more ! Nora, please! 😭

Dark, twisted, and completely captivating—Dark Therapy is not for the faint of heart. From the very first chapter, Nora Blackwood throws you into a storm of emotions, and trust me, you’ll feel every single one of them. This book had me teetering on the edge of sanity, screaming at the characters, and yet, I couldn’t put it down.
The plot is full of twists and turns, so I won’t spoil anything, but be prepared for a ride that will leave your heart racing. Please, do yourself a favor and check the trigger warnings first because this book dives into some truly heavy territory.
Now, let’s talk about Damien. If you love a character who is unhinged in the best (and most infuriating) way, you’re going to fall for him—hard. He’s flawed, magnetic, and utterly unforgettable. Blackwood has created a character you’ll hate to love, yet somehow you will. By the end, I was rooting for him as much as I was yelling at him.
This isn’t your average dark romance. It’s raw, emotional, and unapologetically bold. If you’re ready for a story that will shatter you and make you question your sanity, Dark Therapy is the book for you.

I think Damien is my newest favourite ,unhinged book boyfriend. I’m talking like his red flags are waving red flags. ( I say that with adoration)
Amelia was interesting to me, I liked that she wasn’t as innocent as she seemed. I wanted to know more about her story and back ground. I am really really hoping for a second book in this series. Pretty, pretty please 🙏 🙏

4.25/5 Ahhhhhh, that ending! I suspected with some little foreshadowing, but OH MY GOSH, I love a good plot twist!! I'm hoping this story will continue because I NEED ANSWERS, NORA! So many damn questions!
Also-THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY FOR AN ARC!!
Damien, an enigmatic stalker is obsessed with Amelia, his newly established psychologist, and will stop at nothing to break her until she's just as consumed with him as he is with her. Amelia, recovering from childhood trauma, finally has control over her emotions and is hopeful to help others work through their trauma as a psychologist. What she doesn't understand is where Damien's obsession came to fruition.
Dark, thrilling, and honestly, spicier than I was expecting. Damien forces his way into Millie's physche Dual POV from both MCs. There are times, particularly during character's inner monologues, that have several repetitive elements that seem redundant. However, that could be purposeful to showcase their delicate mental states and the power of the obsession.
Overall, really enjoyed the storyline and back and forth between these 2 characters. Both in need of healing through their traumas in different ways. I wanted Amelia to be a little less docile, but hopefully that's something she can grow into as she heals.
Dark Therapy is psychological. It's dark. It's messy. It's beautiful. ✨ I went into this knowing it's dark romance and expected morally grey with a side of psycho. And that is exactly what I got, in the best way!
Amelia is a psychologist with her own past trauma. She's been resilient her whole life it seems, and she really loves what she does. But what happens when she gets a new patient that makes her question reality from illusion? Where does she draw the line from patient to more?
In walks Damien, confident, closed off, and a hitman to boot. His obsession knows no bounds. His possessive behavior is only just beginning to show. His character is one of the rare gems I've had the pleasure of reading that imo, is pitch black psychologically.
I just love the tension and slips between past and present and what is actually real. These characters left me gasping for breath and I NEED more! Definitely check the TW for this book before reading, but the less you know, the more impact the story has. That ending had my jaw dropped!
Thank you Nora for writing such a gripping story! I can't WAIT to read more from you! 💛
This book was really well written, and Damien was very much the man he was made out to be from the start!
I was intrigued from the get go, and loved the therapy sessions between Damien and Amelia. It was interesting to see their different perspectives and the dynamic between them.
This book had a lot of twists and turns, and what ultimately made me give it three stars was the lack of romance. It had some great spicy scenes, but I felt like Amelia didn’t want any of it, any time. Maybe the last 5-10% of the book. I also missed some more insight into their past. What shaped Damien to who he is today, and what trauma Amelia had suffered through. We got to know some of it the last 10% of the book. But I think I would have connected more to the characters if it came earlier on.
This is my insight to the book, and how I read it. I think it was a really good and interesting psychological thriller, but would not label it as dark romance, which I thought it was before I started reading. I will definitely read more from this author though, and it’s a really well written psychological thriller 🖤
Amelia Harper is a psychologist who loves helping others heal their past trauma. She is just living her ordinary life until one day a man by the name of Damien Blackwell walks into her office seeking therapy. He is nothing like Amelia’s other patients and little does she know, he’s about to flip her whole world upside down. As soon as their session began, I knew he was going to be a problem for Amelia. Instead of Amelia unraveling his dark past, he begins to unravel hers and it leaves her questioning everything. Although Damien is completely unhinged, he had me intrigued. The entire time he had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what he was going to do. Amelia didn’t know what was reality and what was a dream. She got caught up in Damien’s web and he was going to make sure she stayed there. Once the plot started to happen, my jaw was literally on the floor. Amelia is definitely a sneaky one and Damien was going to make sure she didn’t get away with what she did. The ending of this book was what shocked me the most and I definitely need to know more because I can’t stop thinking about it! This book is definitely not for the faint of heart, so please read your trigger warnings‼️
Oof!!! I really had to take some time to process this one. Nora is such a beautiful weaver of words. She had me battling my own morals along with the main characters.
I think we can all relate to Amelia a little bit. We go through life doing whatever we think is best but sometimes it’s like going through the motions. We need something to give us a wake up call. Damien definitely did that!
This dark romance told from dual POVs kinda broke my brain. Both characters were battling their own thoughts and feelings, they were always conflicting. I wasn’t sure how the story would end but I knew there was a slim chance for a HEA lol the twist Nora threw into the last page was really unexpected. Now that I think about it, the signs were there!
Thank you for having me as an advanced reader! I’m excited to see what you do next, I’ll be telling all my dark romance lovers to pick this up!
Dark Therapy by Nora Blackwood is a gripping psychological thriller that delves deep into the complexities of trauma and obsession.
The story follows Amelia Harper, a psychologist, as she navigates her own haunting past while treating Damien Blackwell, a hitman seeking therapy for his obsessive tendencies.
The intense and emotional journey blurs the lines between reality and nightmare, making it a compelling and thought-provoking read.
Blackwood's writing is both evocative and unsettling, drawing readers into a world where love and danger intertwine. This book is perfect for those who enjoy dark, character-driven narratives that explore the depths of the human psyche.
Pacing was slow at times, especially in the middle.
What. A. Ride. Damien is a hit man. Amelia (Millie) is a psychologist. When Damien chooses to walk into Amelia's office with the guise of wanting therapy, it changes both their lives in ways they can not even imagine. Damien becomes obsessed and possessive of Amelia, and if he can't have her, no one can. Amelia doesn't want to be drawn to Damien, but there is just something about his dark ways that call to a part of her she thought she pushed down and buried. Nothing good can come of this toxic situation of theirs, but they both just can't help themselves. This book ends on such a high climatic note, and the final words will have you wanting more!
There are some VERY dark themes in this book. Make sure to check the content and trigger warnings before heading into this one!
Oh, Millie. Amelia never stood a chance against Damien. From the moment he walked into her office, she sensed his darkness. Thinking he sought psychological help, she quickly realized his true intention—she was his obsession, and he was determined to drag her into his shadowed world.
“And that was how it began. A stranger in the rain, a patient I should have turned away, and the first step into a darkness that would strip away every layer of who I thought I was.”
The first half of the book had a slow build with a dark and dreary DC vibe that I really loved. It kept me questioning what was real and what was illusion—was Damien manipulating Amelia, or was she unraveling? Were their dark pasts connected? The intensity skyrocketed in a chapter aptly titled 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒐𝒔, and from that moment on, I couldn’t put it down.
When the MMC shifts from intriguing and mysterious to downright unhinged, it’s both terrifying and captivating. Damien’s intensity, obsession, and madness reached staggering heights. His childhood trauma didn’t break him—it shaped him. He wasn’t just consumed by darkness; he was born from it.
Damien both terrifies and thrills me. He’s dangerously unhinged, like a live wire, and watching his complete unraveling was incredibly intense. He’s not your typical morally grey MMC we playfully call unhinged while swooning—no, he’s genuinely dangerous, obsessive, and missing more than a few screws. One scene felt eerily reminiscent of the iconic “Here’s Johnny” moment from The Shining. I’m equal parts in love with him and utterly frightened by him.
“There’s no escape from this shit. No redemption. You just survive. You become what they made you, or you fucking die.”
WHEN you read this book, here’s a tip: don’t touch the epilogue unless you have plenty of time afterward to stare at a fucking wall. My thoughts after the last line were something like: “WHAT?! No. How? WHAT?! There’s going to be another book… right?! RIGHT?!”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶🌶 This book was so amazing! This dark and twisted world Nora created was written so beautifully, and i'm glad to have gotten the chance to read it early🖤, also that plot twist😱? It was hook, line, and sinker from the get-go for Amelia as soon as he walked into her office. Can we really blame her, though? Just the mysteries between his whiskey eyes and the mind games that seem to follow her even when she's sleeping won't let you put the book down...
What a book! Deliciously dark and a total mindf*ck, lol. On one hand you have, Amelia, a therapist / psychologist; on the other, you have, Damien, a hit man — what’s not to like? Amelia and Damien have such a strong, palpable connection and it was an absolute pleasure to observe them together.
The book was so immersive, that at times, I was struggling to distinguish between reality and illusion! Lots of twists and turns in this one — a total page turner that had me at the edge of my seat! If you’re looking for a stalker romance featuring an unhinged, obsessive Hero, then look no further! I think you’ll really enjoy this one! Buckle up and enjoy the ride! 4⭐️
Thanks so much, Nora, for the eARC in exchange for my honest review! 💕
"You're trying to make sense of this, aren't you? Trying to rationalize it. But here's the kicker, doctor-there is no sense to this. It's just me, and it's you, and it's this fucked-up story that was always going to end here. You don’t run from fate, Millie. You fucking kneel for it.” 🥵
Dark Therapy was thrilling, dark, steamy, instantly drawing you in. From start to finish I was hooked, the writing was well done. Damien has me questioning my morals. A hit man & a therapist drawn together by a connection that will leave them both wanting more from one another. An addiction that will keep you captivated throughout the entire book.

Dark Therapy by Nora Blackwood is everything I didn’t know I needed—a dark, seductive, and psychologically rich tale that hooked me from the very first page. This is not your typical dark romance thriller; it’s raw, unapologetic, and dripping with suspense.
The story plunges deep into the mind of the protagonist, who’s navigating a mysterious and unconventional form of therapy. As the layers of the plot unravel, the reader is taken on a journey filled with twists that are as haunting as they are mesmerizing. Blackwood has a way of creating characters that feel disturbingly real, and the way she explores their vulnerabilities left me reeling.
What truly set Dark Therapy apart for me was its atmosphere—it’s dark, yes, but it’s also lush and strangely alluring. Every scene is crafted with such vivid detail that it feels like you’re stepping into a world where nothing is as it seems. Blackwood doesn’t just tell a story; she pulls you into it, making you question everything you think you know.
This book is not for the faint of heart (check trigger warnings) , but if you’re a fan of dark romance psychological thrillers with a sharp edge and aren’t afraid to embrace the darkness, this is the read for you. I devoured it in one sitting and have been thinking about it ever since. Nora Blackwood has cemented herself as a must-read author for me.
