In New York Times bestselling author Rachel Gibson's newest novella, Vince Haven and Sadie Hollowell are headed to the altar, and all their friends are headed to Lovett, Texas, to join them for the party of the year. But Becca Ramsey doesn't have time for all that. Fresh out of beauty school, Becca's all business . . . and the last thing she needs is bad boy Nate Parrish anywhere in her life.In the past, Nate was trouble. He's been trying to repair his reputation—heck, he's even got just one girlfriend. The problem is, she isn't Becca. Now Nate's in a whole lot of hot water. He needs to get Becca from "I won't" to "I do" . . . but how can he do that when she won't even say "I might"?
It was great seeing these familiar characters from the previous Rachel Gibson's books again. It actually took me a while to recognize some of them, but I loved it! This reunion reminded me of my good times with those books.
I felt like I knew the hero and heroine since they were kids. I've still had Nate's picture in my mind, a skinny boy with spiky hair. Who would have thought he would grow up to be a super hot guy! Wow!!! And Becca, I remembered her as a talkative girl who treated Vince (a hero from 'Rescue Me') like her 'girlfriend'! So funny! I had never once thought she would become a heroine.
I absolutely enjoyed this novella though it was too short. Somehow I just wish there was a little bit more of Nate story!
This story is lots of fun!! It's short - 150 pages - but a great romance and a chance to revisit past couples and see where their love has taken them!

My thoughts...
I adore Rachel Gibson's storytelling, and even though I haven't (yet) read all the books in this series, I love what I have read. This story is filled with lot's of witty dialog and steamy sexual chemistry. Becca and Nate are a perfect match and I was thrilled to see them get their happily ever after.
One issue for me (and may be for other readers), and the only 'sour' note here is that at the beginning of the story
But all-in-all, this is a fun read and a great installment to the series!
ARC provided by Avon Books. To show my appreciation I'm giving them an honest review!
I have been a fan of Rachel Gibson for a long time and have read quite of a few of her works. When I saw that I had the opportunity to get my hands on an advanced copy of this novella, I jumped at the chance. I ended up enjoying this nice little story which should appeal to other fans of Rachel Gibson.
There was a lot going on in this novella, maybe a little too much to be honest. Many of the characters from Gibson's previous books make and appearance in this short little story. One couple is busy having a wedding and another is busy having a baby. The new romance in this story is Nate and Becca. Becca is a local hairdresser who is doing the bride's hair for the wedding. Nate is Daisy and Jack's son from an earlier book, Daisy's Back in Town.
I think the relationship between Nate and Becca seemed to move a bit quickly but I really enjoyed them on the page together. I thought they had a lot of chemistry and worked well as a couple . Any doubts that I had about Nate were erased by the end of the story. Gibson won me over with this ending but I would have loved to see their story expanded on a little more.
It was really nice to see some of the characters from previous books in the Lovett, Texas series. I have read some of the books in the series but not all of them. I had no trouble following this story even though I missed some of the earlier books.
I would recommend this book to fans of the Lovett, Texas series who are wanting to visit some of their favorite characters. This is a smartly written, nice little story that can easily be read in a single evening. I hope to get a chance to more from Rachel Gibson soon.
I received a copy of this book from Avon Impulse via Edelweiss for the purpose of providing an honest review.
This novella may have been Gibson's way of tying up some loose ends, but I really enjoyed it. It covered a lot of characters from previous books and yet has a new romance too.
Vince Haven and Sadie Hollowell are getting married, and Becca Ramsey is just out of beauty school and is doing Sadie's hair. Becca has grand plans that don't include getting involved with bad boy Nate Parrish. She even has a five-date rule for getting involved and Nate doesn't seem the type to wait that long.
Nate has quite the reputation to live down and is doing his best to do that. His steady girlfriend has been gone all summer and absence has not made his heart grow fonder. In fact, he is just waiting for her to come home so he can break up with her in person.
From the minute Nate spots the red sandals from under the car he is working on, Nate knows he is a goner. But getting Becca to give him a chance is going to take some work.
Disappointing is the word that comes to mind after reading this. I Do! is a short novella that gives us Sadie and Vince's wedding with a side order of NA romance. I enjoyed the follow ups to previous characters in the series. Their dialogue was crisp and the storyline flowed like water with plenty of humor. The problem was the romance between Becca and Nate. The artifice screamed at you as Gibson tries to force them together. All Nate thinks about is sex. Literally. Every thought that came out of his head was about how he waned to have sex with Becca or he alluded to having sex with previous women. He never even thinks of Becca as a person, just a set of perfect boobs, the perfect butt, the perfect legs, ect...All Becca thinks about is hair and making it big in the hair styling business. The dialogue between them was stiff and clunky and I couldn't help but feel Gibson just wasn't comfortable making this couple sexual.
I'm not a short-story fan, but I'll read ANYTHING Rachel Gibson writes. I've dis'd her shorts before, but this one was pretty good. Saying this, I hate, HATE that Nathan and Becca had their story told in 100 pages or less. I really, seriously liked these characters and hated when the book was over. We met them both in other, previous books in the series.
In December, I read several of Ms. Gibson's books again. They are as good the second time [some were the third read] as they were the first time. I just love her style. She makes me feel things and at the end of a mini-rollar coaster ride, I can feel really good. This little story fit that theme and I enjoyed it.
Happy Reading!

First sentence: At the age of twenty-three, Rebecca Ramsey had found her passion.
Review: Let me start by saying that Rachel Gibson is one of my favourite authors and I eagerly wait each new release, even if it is just a novella. And on principle, a novella which revisits some of the couples we've already grown to love from her previous novels is something I could get behind (note this Jill Shalvis, in case you should ever want to use the same format to delve back into the Lucky Harbor world) but this just really didn't work for me.
I don't know what it was but I ended up finding characters I had previously liked really irritating and wanted to send them on a one-way ticket back to the wonderful original novels they had come from.
As to the two new characters Becca and Nate? It is the author's unenviable task in a novella to make characters a) likeable and b) more than two-dimensional in a very short space of time. Rachel Gibson failed on both accounts this time around. Am I meant to find the fact that Nate cheats on his first serious girlfriend with Becca because he finds her just so irresistible endearing? That aside, I just didn't understand the 'instant love' attraction on either side.
This story was super sweet & steamy with an actual backstory and plot. It’s not often that you get to know the characters very much in a fast romance, so I was grateful for that.
Hairstylist, Becca Ramsey is helping her friend Sadie prepare for her upcoming wedding. While Becca loves doing cuts and coloring, up-dos for special occasions are by far her favorite.
When Daisy, the salon owner’s sister takes professional photos of Becca’s recent work for her to use as a portfolio she promises to leave them in her mailbox before she leaves for a trip. However, when Becca gets there- the mailbox is empty. What is she going to do now, when her appointment is less than an hour away with the bride?
While Becca starts traipsing around the yard trying to find a solution to her problem, she comes across loud music and two legs popping out from under a car. Could it be that none other than Nate Parrish is back in town for good? Who knew that when she pulled the plug on his ipod that lust would immediately ensue.
Equally flustered to see one another words become hard, and the photos still can’t be found even when he tries to help. The truth is that the both of them can flirt all they want —but Becca isn’t falling for his tricks and besides Nate has a girlfriend!
That is until he kisses her.
There are all kinds of emotions packed in this short novella!
5 ⭐️
I will be reading more about these characters and of Rachel Gibson. This can be read as a stand-alone and I had no trouble in doing so.
What in the heck has happened to Rachel Gibson? She was once my favorite author. I would devour anything she wrote and then read it again. Some of my favorites are still Rachel Gibson but I havent loved a book she has written since Vince and Sadie. Everything since then has been MEH.. and her shorts... have never been the best.
Why oh why did she take Nathan who I think a lot of RG fans would agree was one of their favorite characters from Daisy's Back in Town and give him a mediocre novella where he was barely even in the book at all! If you stack all of his parts together he probably only had about 10 pages of book time. I am quite saddened by this. Thinking back, I dont think I laughed a single time in this book, which is one of the reason I have always liked Rachel Gibson; she made me laugh.
Other then that it was a quick read and good to catch up with some of the other characters but not at the expense of the main characters.
I wanted to like this one better than I did. I liked Becca, Nate...ehh not so much. It annoyed me how he thought about Holly Sue, yet lusted after Becca. I might have thought better about him had he taken the 10 seconds to contact her and tell her it was off. Instead we had a messy morning after with 3 people. I sort of admired the girls ability to keep calm and talk about things. I was surprised that Becca was able to forgive Nate in the end. Not sure how you can build a future on a past like that.
The fourth book in the series Lovett, Texas by Rachel Gibson. Becca Ramsey meets Nate Parrish when she stopped to collect photos for her appointment with Sadie Hallowell. She moved back to Lovett, Texas to work in a local Salon until she can open her own. Anyway, Nate is attracted but he stilll has a girlfriend. A girlfriend he hasn't seen in months.
So, it was short and sweet. A novella so not a lot going on. But it was cute and fun.
I'm so disappointed... She is one of my all-time favorite authors, so when this was released, of course it, went straight to the top of my TBR. For the first time ever, I rated one of her books at 2 stars. It was such a let down. I know you won't be able to love every book an author releases but honestly, this was a waste of time. Instead of creating a new storyline, for one of my most anticipated heroes in her universe (in my book), we got follow ups on every other couple she had written about in Lovett Texas, when all I wanted was Nathan's story and some romance....
I fell in love with Nathan Parrish in When Daisy's Back in Town. He was a moody teenager not happy with moving to a new place then and now he's all grown up. I can't tell you how excited I was when I found out he was getting his own story. I would've loved to have read a full length novel about him, but I'm happy with this novella as opposed to just wondering about him.
I liked Becca. She's fresh, determined to succeed, and a good friend. I loved her attitude towards life. She's also got a bubbly personality. I will admit to swooning, just like her, when she saw Nathan for the first time. I liked Nathan. He was easy going and someone who had a good head on his shoulders for the most part.
Becca and Nathan had great chemistry. You could feel it and I loved it. It was attraction at first sight. Of course that's something known to strike Parrish men. My only issue with the story was that I didn't agree with some of Nathan's decisions even if I understood his rationale in handling things differently. He did end up causing problems for himself and others around him. I didn't like seeing and feeling the fall out of what happened.
While I enjoyed reading the story, what Nathan did throw me.I would've never thought in a million years Nathan would hurt someone like he did. Especially since I know how and who he was raised by. I've read and absolutely loved the other books in this series. I'm glad to see everyone still going strong. Rachel Gibson has written a fine story with some surprises I don't think any of her readers saw coming. I do hope to read more about Becca and Nathan in the future.
Short, Sweet and...a chance to catch up with old friends! That's what you will get with I DO!, the new novella from Rachel Gibson in the Lovett Texas series. The novella was a recap of the past couple from the Lovett, Texas series (Vince, Blake, Beau, the Parrish's) and a super short romance between Becca, who we have met in RESCUE ME, and Nathan Parrish, yep...teenage Nathan is all grown up and just as sexy as his daddy!
I loved that I got to catch up with the past couples, which could have been the whole novella, but there was the short romance which was a bit too short for me. I really was excited about Nathan having a story, and just wanted more!!
Definitely worth the read it you are a true, die-hard Gibson fan, as I am! Newbies, might want to start at the beginning.
Insta-lust/love has a new poster child. This is most definitely a story that would have benefitted from being full-length. Our h/h first meet, fall in lust, then out, then into love it's ridiculous. And to have our heroine forgive the hero so swiftly (she HATES cheaters. We know because it's told to us repeatedly. repeatedly. But then she finds out he has a girlfriend when they slept together and forgives him for pages later because he bats his eyes?) ... Forgive me if I don't feel like this story is going to have an HEA.
Not only it's too rushed, the hero is a cheater and a douchebag. It's hard to believe he's that adorable kid from the previous book. I do not need this.
1.5 stars. Rounded up to 2 just because it's Rachel Gibson's.
I Do! was unfortunately not the book for me as I didn't enjoy the writing or some elements of the romance.
Vince Haven and Sadie Hollowell are getting married and Becca Ramsey is thrilled to part of their big day. But when Becca goes to pick up some photos to show Sadie what hairstyles she can do, she runs into Nate Parrish who makes Becca want to throw caution to the wind and take a chance on the town's bad boy.
The writing in this book was not great in my opinion and as this was the first book I read in the series, I didn't have any connection to the characters to make me want to look past that. Plus the book is full of stereotypes about Texans which I really didn't like.
As to the relationship, unfortunately when I picked up this book I missed the part of the blurb that mentioned Nate already has a girlfriend when he meets Becca. I am super against cheating in the romances I read and I never would have picked this up if I had known that would be part of the story. And once Becca and Nate's relationship progressed and Nate hadn't broken up with his girlfriend, there was no moving past that for me. In addition to the cheating, the entire story takes place in just over a week and the characters are claiming love by the end of the book despite only meeting for the first time at the start of the book.
Overall I Do! was not the book for me but if you're a fan of the series I imagine it would act as a nice epilogue to some of the characters' relationships.
It's not good, it's not terrible. I can't really expect much as it is a short story. The characters are pretty much cookie cutter with no real development and the events happen like they are on a schedule.
The story revolves around Nate and Becca. They were instantly attracted to each other and acted on it. Becca doesn't like cheaters and Nate didn't disclose he wasn't single. His relationship was strained as his girlfriend had been out of town for months. He wanted to break things off but wanted to do it in person. Unfortunately for him, when he finally acted on his attraction, his girlfriend came back. Becca was hurt that he cheated on his girlfriend with her. He broke things off with his girlfriend, got some advise from his father, and straightened things out with Becca. They got together.

This is my first book by Rachel Gibson, so I didn’t really know what to expect. This novella is part of a series, but I didn’t have any problems getting pulled into the story even though I haven’t read the previous books. Each book is about a couple, so even though there were references to other couples from previous books, I didn’t have trouble understanding who was who. It actually made me curious about the other characters and made me add the previous books to my TBR list. Being a novella, it is a very quick read that you can start and finish within a few hours. I liked the characters and the small town setting. Even though this is supposed to be Nathan and Becca’s story, the spotlight falls also on the bride and groom to-be, therefore some scenes are in their POV. I was a little surprised with the first POV shift, as I hadn’t realized the author was telling someone else’s part of the story, but once I understood what was going on, I was prepared for the POV shifts that followed. It wasn’t hard to get into the characters’ minds and understand who was talking/thinking at that point in the story. This is usually a tricky technique but the author was a master at storytelling. Kudos for that. The characters are well-rounded, and even without having read the previous books, enough details were given throughout the book to help the “series newbie” figure it all out. I liked all the characters, main characters and side characters, but the book was too short to allow me to really connect with them on a higher level. When I reached the end, I was longing for more. I felt it just ended too soon, and I wished for something more. If you want to spend a few hours enjoying a nice story, with some fun moments and one particularly steamy scene, I think you should pick up a copy of this book.
***I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review***
Can't believe I'm going to say this, but I DNF'd a Rachel Gibson story. It was too full of revisiting old characters and not focused enough on the current couple. I just don't think there was enough story to carry the story. And this was only a novella. So sad.
It's finished before its started :( I loved the peeks of all the characters I love, this had a amazing story so why couldn't she write a full fledged book. Grrrrrrr I loved Nate wen he was 15 I wanted to know more about him. This is half baked I wish there were smileys to show my proper feelings.
Rebecca Ramsey is twenty-three and passion since graduating from the Milan (Texas, not Italy) Institute of Cosmetology a few years ago, she’d worked diligently perfecting her passion, her love, her art. Becca was good at cuts and blowouts, fabulous with highlights, ombres, peekaboos, and dip-dyes, but when it came to the updo, she was a true master. She excelled at creating everything from simple French knots to complicated runway hair, complete with twigs and birds and working fountains. Of course, there wasn’t a lot of demand for runway hair in Amarillo, Texas, where she lived and worked, and absolutely none at all sixty miles north in the small town of Lovett where she’d been born and raised. But this was Texas, where special occasion hair was in high demand. “The bigger the hair the closer to God” was not just a saying in the northern panhandle, it was like the eleventh commandment: Thou shalt have big hair. Proms, graduations, and Becca’s favorite, bridal hair, kept her elbow-deep in complicated chignons and styling product. She loved big occasions that called for big hair and had big plans to open her own salon in the future.
Nathan’s girlfriend Holly is absent, so he decides to take Becca for a spin until the girlfriend turns up unannounced and makes Becca feel cheap.
