Sex Rx: Hormones, Health, and Your Best Sex Ever

Rate this book
For millions of women in America, sex isn’t always pleasurable or even possible. Instead, sex has become a low priority as they navigate marriage, motherhood, and work . . . not to mention cope with chronic stress and lack of sleep. Throw in the natural fluctuations in hormone levels that all women experience throughout their lives and it’s not surprising that sex can become, well, a little less sexy. Additionally, common gynecological problems can make sex uncomfortable, and medical issues can cause it to be downright painful. Dr. Lauren Streicher, a leading women’s sexual health expert, offers women the courage, vocabulary, and knowledge to identify and solve problems in the bedroom, for a wide range of issues—from flagging libido, vaginal dryness, and sex after menopause, to hormone supplements and the effects of medication, Sex Rx offers a wealth of knowledge, along with a good dose of humor and plenty of encouragement, so that every woman, no matter what personal challenges she has, can make having great sex a part of their lives forever. Sex Rx was originally published in hardcover as Love Sex Again.

Never Think You Know it All About Your Own Body !

One of the most amazingly informative books written by a doctor that was not to technical, actually easy to read and sometimes humorous. Because we are all humans this book is one for all women, young and old, and share it with your men , and yasssss this author includes issues for the LBGT community. You have a question or a problem , she has an answer or a place to send you to find one. After all, life is much happier with a bit of sexiness in your step and if you listen to this Doc you can be happy until you die ! Don’t believe me, read the book. She also says you live longer with sex in your life ! I Throughly enjoyed this book and learned so much. It is not the end of the world at menopause , after cancer, or hip surgery, or even the dreaded dry season of old age or times when both men and women have low libido. If you want to feel that happy glow again, we now have sexual physical therapists too! I cannot speak highly enough about the professional aspects of the books subject matter and also the regard for sincere regard in the author’s writing. Do not fear knowing more about your own body. You only get one and you should live life to its fullest !

This is a great and easy read. If you're a woman and have any issues, this is the book to read. If you just want to know more about how the body works, this is the book to read. It is full of frank and positive advice about what can be a continued and positive experience. Admittedly, I'm only halfway thru, but I can't say enough about the book.

Menopause sucks!

I saw you on Megyn Kelly and wanted to learn more about how to deal with the effects of menopause on sexuality. So informative. Wish I'd read it when I was premenopausal!

I feel all women should read this book. I learned a lot. Sometimes we were never told that it’s ok to enjoy life, sex or be happy. Read and learn it’s all ok.

I would have given this a much higher rating (5 stars) than what I did, if I hadn't already known most of what was in the book (with that being said, this type of study/research is a big part of my life).

If you don't know much about your own body, about sex or sexual disorders, or about female hormones, and need some help/guidance, this book is for you. It's a phenomenal resource for women (and even men to understand better about women's sexual health). The writing is clear and doesn't use a lot of scientific jargon that you can't understand. She gives plenty of resources and products throughout the book and in the index).

The one thing I question is that she is on Dr. Oz. Even though Dr. Oz is a medical doctor, he relies on the latest fads-not real research. Another thing I didn't like very much is she pushes a specific brand in the book. This could be seen as negative, but with some research I found that it's not that bad. She pushes this brand (as far as I know, she's not compensated for it), but it seems to be because their products have shown promise in third-party independent studies (studies not done by the company who makes the product). This is super important because it shows that there isn't a bias due to monetary gain.

Overall, great book. Not so much if this is something you study in school or on your own pretty thoroughly.

I listened to the audiobook. It was helpful to hear of the many different things that could be going on from a gynecologist standpoint.
