Sexy Flirty Dirty #3

Fake Dating on Thin Ice

Rate this book
From the USA Today Bestselling author of Magnificent Bastard comes a sexy, flirty, dirty standalone…on ice.

They say Jake “The Dragon” Falcone earned his nickname by setting fire to the ice his first season in the NHL. But just between us ladies, I’m pretty sure he earned it for the dragon in his pants.

Lord have f*cking mercy, but the man’s been given a gift. (And I’ve heard he knows exactly how to use it.) From my first hug as his fake girlfriend, it’s clear he’s packing below the belt. After a few fake dates I realize he’s packing…everywhere.

Heart, brains, sex-vibe, and the ability to make me laugh so hard I almost pee my pants—Jake is everything I’ve ever wanted in a man.

He’s also my client and OFF LIMITS. Oh, and he has an ex who’s completely crazy and out for my blood.

I should steer clear, and I would, if my dragon weren’t so completely incredible…

***

The name sounded like a joke. Who in his right mind wants a “Miraculous Mess” running damage control on his f*cked up love life?

Well…me, it turns out.

By the time I leave her apartment on day one, I’m halfway gone on Shane “Miraculous Mess” Willoughby. By the end of our first date, I know my life won’t be complete until I’ve had this beautiful, sexy, perfectly wild woman in every filthy way I’ve imagined since our first kiss.

I want her, all of her, from the smart mouth that makes me smile to the wounded heart I know I can heal. If she’ll let me.

Can a Madison Avenue princess and a dragon from the wrong side of the tracks live happily ever after?

If I have my way, the world is about to find out.

Warning: Incredible You is a sexy, standalone romantic comedy told from BOTH the hero and the heroine's point of view. No cliffhanger. Lots of hot steamy sexy times, laugh out loud textual healing, and an aw-out-loud happily ever after.

5 Stars!

Lili Valente is BACK and HOTTER than ever with her newest contemporary romances with promises of sexy times and belly laughing banter.

Incredible You was a brilliant, laugh out loud, fun, and sexy romance that will have tears leaking from your eyes and leave you totally satisfied, with a big ol' smile on your face. Lili became a fast favorite of mine when she released her first book and since then, the diversity in her stories is just intriguing.

Shane and Jake... oh yeah! They are going to light up that e-readers and practically have it steaming from all sides. The chemistry... the banter... everything about them was sizzling and so perfect. I laughed, swooned, smiled, laughed some more, and fell head over heels in love with them and their incredible story.

I highly recommend this book.

Ohhhh I love Shane and Jake!! Talk about a whirlwind romance...this has it all. It has the drama, romance, and humor that one needs to make a good courtship. Shane is a hot to trot Hockey player who has had a bit of bad luck as of late. Shane is just the gal to help him out, however neither of them counting on the earth shattering chemistry that they would have.
What started out as a business arrangement quickly turned into something much much more.
I FLOVED this series and everyone should read it...NOW!!!!!

Lili has done it again! She made me feel all of the feels. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Incredible You is a standalone novel but does have a connection with Magnificent Bastard and Spectacular Rascal. It's now time for a badass female to get into the game and her name is Shane "Miraculous Mess" Willoughby. She wasn't sure if she was the woman for the job as a fake girlfriend to a hockey player with a scandal but the minute she saw him...she wanted to be.

Jake Falcone likes to keep his private life out of the headlines so when a crazy ex-girlfriend is going to the press with accusations that could ruin him, he is in dire need of an intervention. He would rather hire someone to act as his girlfriend than to go to the police and have his life even more scandalized. He just wanted his ex-girlfriend out of his life and to do that she needs to finally get the hint that they are over. What he didn't expect was Shane. From the moment he saw her, he thought she was beautiful but then after one "date" he knew she was more. She was incredible...inside and out. And after one kiss he wished this didn't have to be pretend. But did she feel the same way? He felt the electricity between them but maybe she was just that good of an actress.

Shane isn't sure if it's because she hasn't had sex in a year or if Jake was just that amazing at kissing but she wanted more. A lot more. She wanted to climb him like a tree and never let go. But he was a client. Which meant he was off-limits. She doesn't know how long she could hold out with this whole pretend thing when it feels so real. He feels so real. She wasn't a hockey fan. Not even a sports fan but she has heard the stories about the players...well, being players. Jake seemed different. After getting to know his backstory, she knew he wasn't a bad guy. He was quite the opposite. He was a mama's boy with a big heart. And when they get even closer she finds he is big everywhere and is one amazing dirty-talker that can back it up. He could be everything except it was suppose to be pretend and it's going a little too fast. Can you really know a person in just a few weeks?

Now...back to the crazy ex! How are they going to get rid of her? Can they figure it out before she wrecked havoc on their relationship? She is definitely certifiable but is she dangerous?

I loved that this sexy, flirty, dirty standalone was mostly from Shane's POV. She was the one in charge of the consulting while he was in charge in the bedroom which she wanted and loved by the way. And speaking of bedrooms...Jake and Shane are fucking hot when they get down and dirty. And when they are not tangled in the sheets they are fun, flirty, and get to know each other. I very much enjoy texting and emails in books. The texts they exchange are so much fun! It's a great way to fast forward conversations. And it can take away your nerves too. Too open up and that is what they both need.

Overall...I loved every minute of it! Shane is kickass. She might be an heiress to a fortune but she is no princess. Unless it's one with a sword. Jake is a sexy badass with a big heart. Together they are magic. They made me laugh, swoon, cry, and get hot and bothered.

P.S Seeing what the previous couples were up to was awesome!

Quotes:

Thank you, Shane. You’re changing my life one text at a time.

“Bad dragon,” I murmur as the elevator chimes. “Very bad.”
He winks. “I haven’t even gotten started yet, princess.”

“Nice place you’ve got here. Rent controlled?”

WOOWZA!!!

The Chemistry between Jake and Shane is OFF THE CHARTS.......

While I've loved this series (even though each book can be read alone) due to the books being told from the male point of view, I will have to say it was refreshing to go back to the story being told from the woman's point of view. Lili totally nailed this one on the head. I think that this story would have lost something if it was told from Jake's point of view.

So you would think that a rich socialite and a man with childhood baggage would be "been there, done that", but you would be sooo WRONG!!!

While Jack might be a bit closed off, and Shane might have "diarrhea of the mouth" these two are PERFECT for each other. The way they play off of each other and their interactions, seriously had me wondering if Lili was spying on my husband and myself.

While I abso-freaking-lutely loved the story, I think my FAVORITE part has to be epilogue two written by Cersei. Now I'm not going to tell you who she is, you will just have to read Incredible You and find out :D

➦This is another spin off of Magnificent Bastard The heroine of this book is a mutual friend of those two guys running Magnificent Bastard Consulting, a very helpful establishment specializing in making life of the ladies easier. Just pay them, they'll make anyone you want jealous or intimidate your annoying ex. Well, you remember them.

➦But what about helping that other, you know, male part of the population? Surely there must be money in that! Yes, indeed! So, when a celebrity hockey player needs help getting rid of his coo-coo ex-girlfriend, the Magnificent bastard duo calls their friend Shane to help.

➦Shane doesn't need money, she's a vet and she's super nice. So she'll help out. Once, of course, she sees the sex-on-a-stick hockey player, she is immediately infatuated with him. Listen, she's only human. If he walks around bare-chested and with a hockey stick like on the cover of this book... which he doesn't, by the way. But you get the point.

➦So we have a case of insta-lust from both but they try very hard to remain in a pretend relationship. Jake's ex needs to see them happily together so she can finally bugger off. So how long will they be able to pretend it's a fake relationship?

➦Unlike Magnificent Bastard and Spectacular Rascal this book is dual POV. It contains same over the top humor and has enough action in the steam department. The epilogue is written from the dog's POV and is seriously ott but hilarious. Well, you get it. :)

➦Recommended to those who like romcoms & fake relationship tropes. Now, even though the hero is a hockey player I wouldn't go as far as saying that this book can be considered a sports romance. I didn't find enough hockey in it to put it into a sports category on my blog. So if you're not a fan of sports romances there's no need to stay away from this one!

It's a jungle out there, and not even the biggest and the baddest among us are immune to the danger.
That's why I took this job for Magnificent Bastard Consulting--get revenge on your ex or your money back. Jake "the Dragon" Falcone may be a professional hockey player with a body built for tossing boulders up mountains, and legs thick enough to snap defensive guards in two with one flex of his manly thighs, but sometimes even a dragon needs a princess to help him get out of trouble.

Sometimes being a member of the fairer sex comes in handy. When Shane Willoughby is pressed into service as a temporary employee of MBC, it's because, underneath the girly girl facade, she's New York tough, more than able to hold her own, and has the skills to get the job done. Shane shouldn't notice that Jake sets her senses alight like no one has in, well, forever, because that just wouldn't be professional. But like the Magnificent Bastard and the Spectacular Rascal that have gone before her, Shane's about to find out that business can sometimes be a real pleasure.

I have been waiting for this book since Shane showed up and stole the show in SPECTACULAR RASCAL. She is savvy, sassy, and totally someone that I would want to hang out with. There are layers to Shane that are revealed over time, showing her to be much more than she appears on the surface. And Jake, he's more than a pretty face and a beast on the ice. Refusing to be a product of his past, he's determined to bring the best of who he is and shine that light into the world.

The chemistry between Shane and Jake is, as to be expected, off the charts. It's fast, it's hot, and I loved every minute of it. I don't even care that sparks flew as quickly as they did, because, dang, just, phew!

I have to say that Lili Valente has found her calling with these romantic comedies. The story lines, the characters, and, oh, my gosh, the TEXTING, they are wonderful. As an aside, I will say that the texts that are such a big part of all three of the stories in this series are some of the best parts of the books. They capture perfectly the spirits of the characters and how they interact with each other, and had me laughing out loud every single time.

INCREDIBLE YOU is a great addition to Lili's catalog of work, and one that I enjoyed absolutely. Shane and Jake, their kids, their friends, I can't think of a more enjoyable group of characters to spend time with. 5 classy, sassy, sexy stars for another fun read. These books are guaranteed to entertain and delight, so grab them and read them. You can thank me later.

Incredible You is a standalone romantic comedy, with minor references to the characters in previous books, Magnificent Bastard and Spectacular Rascal. If you haven't read them already... why the hell not?! They are quite funny and steamy as well!

Jake and Shane have taken top spot as my favourite Lili Valente couple. I am loving these two... HARD!

We met Shane in Spectacular Rascal as Cat's trusted friend. She has temporarily joined the team at MBC. She was hired to help Jake "The Dragon" Falcons restore his image and chase off his crazy ex-girlfriend. Jake plays in the NHL, he has always tried to stay out of the limelight, especially in a negative way. His crazy ex-girlfriend has brought some unwanted attention his way and he needs to clear that up and get her out of his life. This is where Shane enters the picture, she's been hired to be his pretend girlfriend, but once they meet, the sparks are flying and they both have a hard time keeping it professional.

This is obviously just a quick rundown of all the fun, cuz I don't want to spoil anything for anybody!

Jake and Shane are incredible together, from their interesting first meeting, all the way to the very end. They have great chemistry and intensity; and I absolutely love the witty banter between these two. They had me smiling the whole time! They are my absolute favourite couple from MBC crew!

It was a very easy read. The story had a nice flow, the characters dialog was natural and the story was fun. There are no heavy conflicts that needed to be overcome. A sweet read without undue angst. It took me a little bit to warm up to both Jake and Shane. Their relationship wasn't at all realistic but I enjoyed them together once they got past their early moments. I also missed a little more interaction with secondary characters. But all in all it was an enjoyable story with loveable main characters.

I LIKED IT!!

Incredible you by Lili Valente was a little slice of awesome.
This is the first book I've ever read by Valente, but I found myself yearning for more-so Amazon, here I come!

I didn't know what to expect going into this little gem. But what I found was a solid story, filled with rich characters, witty dialogue and a relationship between two people, albeit fast paced, but no less genuine. Jake and Shane are quite lovely together. Even though they got off on the wrong foot, they found their way to each other rather quickly, but it felt like a natural flow and it worked really well.

Jake is a hot shot hockey player, playing for one of the NHL's best teams, the New York Rangers. He's worked hard for his spot in the line up and couldn't love the sport more. Now, he's had his fair share of women, some one nighters, some celebrities-and he's also drawn in less desirable women, like his EX, who is pretty much certifiable. Having been placed in a horrible predicament, Jake is desperate to find someone able to help him through his precarious situation.

Enter Shane. Yes, lovely female Shane. Strong, stoic, funny Shane. From the get-go I was drawn to her courage, her rough around the edges attitude, even though she is part of the wealthier boroughs of New York and may or may not come with debutant status, she is down to earth, loyal and so genuine I felt it coming off the page. She's had a rough go of it as well, so finding a kindred spirit in Jake made falling for him a little bit easier. It obviously helped that's he's hot, a professional hockey player and carries the nickname of, "The Dragon!" And it is not because of his fire breath-if you catch my drift!

I really enjoyed the read. The flow worked so well for me. I loved the two epilogues and the text dialogue in between. It helped in weaning out the dialogue you need but don't always want to wade through. I found it quite perfect!

Onto the next Valente for me!

Really enjoyed Shane and Jake. I like how they didn't really fight falling in love and the angst came from a crazy outside factor and not internally. As always, I enjoy the texts and email chapters.

Shane Willoughby is asked by Bash to help with a case at MBC. Ice Hockey's royalty, Jake Falcone's ex girlfriend is accusing him of assault. They need to perceive to the public, and more importantly the ex Keri, that Jake is crazy about Shane and this will give her closure. They hit it off from a rocky opening, and it isn't long before things go from fake to real.

Shane is one sassy, smart and funny character. She has had some very tough hurdles to jump but it has matured her into a beautiful woman because she lives her life to the fullest. Jake is every girls swoon worthy sporting hero. He would take a bullet to protect the one he loves. He has not had the best choices in girlfriends previously but luck was on his side the day he walked into Shane's garden. Even though coming from different walks of life, they have a lot in common and their relationship develops at a fast pace. Together they need to remedy his image problem and other obstacles before they can reach their HEA.

This is the first book I have read of Lili Valente's and it has made me want to go and hunt down more - especially the first two books in this series - which are all standalones. I enjoyed the humor between these two - Lili is very clever in not going over board and hitting the mark spot on. There is also some suspense and sadness to give this book a rounded appeal. It has made me question getting another dog, as I want to use one of Shane's suggested names! And like Shane and Jake, I won't look at another piece of underwear the same. Also, I love a good epilogue, I need to know all the details for a perfect ending, and this was good for me.

If you are starting with this book for the series, you won't be lost at all, as there is enough background to understand the other characters from the first books. But I bet you are going to seek them out like me. Plus I get the feeling there is another being set up with Nate and Addie.

This review was originally posted on Cocktails and Books

This was my first foray into a Lili Valente book. The hockey aspect intrigued me, but it was quirky Shane and lovable Jake that kept me turning pages until the very end.

Shane and Jake had both been burned in previous relationships, Jake especially so since he hires Shane to be his fake girlfriend. But they soon discover their fake relationship is very real as they can't seem to stay on script. Despite both saying they didn't want a relationship, that's exactly what they find themselves in.

I really enjoyed how these two interacted with one another. They could laugh one minute and be serious the next. You could tell they were quickly becoming the others best friend. I enjoy those kinds of romances, where you can just sit back and watch the hero and heroine find their other half.

I could have done without the part of the storyline that led to Jake hiring Shane to play his pretend girlfriend. In my opinion, this was the weakest part of the book and took away from my Shane and Jake time.

I'll definitely be going back to the beginning of this series. I'm interested in seeing how the other couples came to their HEA.

When Jake “The Dragon” Falcone needs helping dealing with a crazy ex-girlfriend who's determined to ruin his career, there's only one place he can turn for help...Magnificent Bastard Consulting.

Shane Willoughby signs onto MBC as a favor to her friends Bash and Penny but she never expects the job of playing the part of a girlfriend to end up so dramatically. Sure Jake is everything any woman would want in a man... insanely gorgeous, sexy and with a sweet, softer side. But the drama and danger of his ex is more than Shane is prepared to deal with. And when her feelings for Jake become much more personal than business will she be able to draw the line?

What I love about this book, besides for the ridiculously hot sex, is the humor between Jake and Shane. Lili Valente has such a talent for incorporating funny situations, comments and conversations into her books. There are actual laugh-out-loud scenes that flow seamlessly into the action and passion of this romance novel. I would highly recommend this book and although it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading Magnificent Bastard and Spectacular Rascal first, just so you have a better feel for some of the characters.

I love sports romances and this was great! It was a twist from the first 2 books, this time the woman, Shane, was hired to help Jake scare off his crazy ex girlfriend. And she was super crazy. Shane has a rough past where it comes to love, but Jake was there for her and showed her he's different. Their banter was cute and the sexual tension was strong. This was fun to listen to and went by quickly.

There h and H interaction were usually fun to read. Maybe 4 stars. I liked that they were thoughtful, mostly mature, maybe even wise in insight into life, but also ridiculous! The whole premise of the story is stupid. The ex is crazy so I guess it fits that her behavior is ridiculous and her motivations unbelievable. The sex was boring. The chemistry fine but no feels. It just didn't work for me.

Incredible You by Lili Valente

I don't like to play favorites but when I realized Valente was going to serve up my perfect combination of book tropes (RomCom and Sports), I had a feeling this would be my favorite Bastard book yet. And guess what? It totally is. This book had me riveted from the word go and I couldn't put it down till the end.

We have the delectable Jake, NY Rangers hockey player who needs a miracle to help him out of his current predicament involving one psychotic ex-girlfriend. He approaches Magnificent Bastard Consulting (MBC) to help him with a fake girlfriend and is paired with Shane, the Miraculous Mess. Shane, a vet at heart, runs her late aunts charity and is nursing deep wounds of her own.

You could practically feel the sparks scorching the pages from Jake and Shane's initial meeting and they. did. not. stop. There was plenty of heat and humor in this book -with a bit of suspense thrown in -to keep me heavily invested, but what I loved most was that although everything happened so quickly between Jake and Shane, you could still feel the love between them and it was very romantic and sweet. I love that Valente gave us two epilogues because I'm greedy like that, but also because I LOVED that extra glimpse of the future!

After meeting Addie, I was fully prepared to write the author an email begging for her story, but I'm hoping that won't be necessary because frankly, I cannot wait for it! All of the books in this series are complete standalones and I recommend every one of them.

I don't know why I always wait so long in between reading sports romance books. Because I always love them! And this was no different. The book also had the same vibe as the first two! Which I loved even though Shane was the worker from Magnificent Bastard Consulting. It was so good.

Bast has hired Shane, a friend of his, to work for his company, Magnificent Bastard Consulting. MBC is a company where people can hire someone from MBC to act as their fake boyfriend for awhile to get rid of a sleazy ex. Well, the one who needs it is Jake. A pro hockey star. That's where Shane comes in. She is to act as his girlfriend for a few weeks to get rid of Jake's crazy ex girlfriend.

Well, along the way Shane and Jake end up really starting to get the feels for one another. Shane also learns just how crazy Jake's ex actually is. And she's a serious freakin' whacko. Like needs to be committed type of crazy.

The relationship between Jake and Shane was off the charts from the very beginning. And the smut was absolutely A+ as well. :D

Jake "The Dragon" Falcone is a beast in the hockey rink but his personal life is swirling in disaster. The girl he was dating has turned into a crazy ex and now he needs help. He reaches out and is setup with Shane Willoughby who has a knack for helping people in a mess. The plan is simple, pretend she is Jake's girlfriend and help salvage his image. What neither expected is to perfectly fit and that even though there is trouble brewing they have found something that is unbreakable.

This was delightful. I really liked Jake a lot, thought he was a bit of a mystery and although Shane was a little pretentious in the beginning she grows on you. Liked the idea of this, very fun.

DNF at 50%. I don’t know why this book bothers me so much. The audiobook narrators are great, I love fake relationships, and both characters are somewhat interesting.

But…

They are both private people AND had instant crushes on the other. They are acting on the lust without having good convos. It sort of drives me crazy when both people are interested but they won’t share their inner lives with each other before they share physical intimacy. There are hints that there’s some deep, dark secrets for both but they haven’t been willing to share with each other. But they will contemplate semi-public sex cause they are so hot for each other!? Ugh.

Plus, this woman signed an NDA and won’t talk to her best friend about stuff. But, somehow when his ex stalks her, she is okay with telling the ex all sorts of private information. I just want to yell, “don’t assume the ex knows all this!”

It just doesn’t feel right.

I really do like these characters but can’t stand the “I’ve got to have sex with you in public” thing they’re about to do. Especially since there’s so much unresolved with them and this puts their entire plan into jeopardy.

On a smaller petty note, she doesn’t like the nickname “Kitten” (even tho it’s based on him saying her sweater was so soft, it must be made of kitten fur)… but DOES like “Princess”. Puke. I hate that as a nickname and can’t imagine giving up a more personal nickname for that crap.

***ARC Provided by the Author and Social Butterfly PR***

I think I liked the idea of this book more than the execution. There was a lot to the plot; the image makeover, the consultant hired to oversee it, the stalker ex, the machinations to get rid of the ex. And, all of this together, for me, diluted the central romance of the story.

There were a lot of extra characters and a lot going on in this story, so I never really connected with the central story and at times felt like I was reading a lot of different stories.

I did enjoy the relationship with Jake and Shane, and I was hoping for a little more of it. The story ARC was a little predictable and I did not really feel that there was anywhere else that it was able to go.

So, why 3 stars? LOL There was a lot I did enjoy. The writing, the characters and the dialog were good. These were people I wanted to get to know better. And, despite the issues I had with the way the story and the characters were developed, I just wish they had been more so. This book had a lot of potential to be really great.

I do recommend this book, with some reservation.

This was a great, fun read. Jake Falcone's reputation is taking a knock when an ex-girlfriend accuses him of something he didn't do. Desperate to get rid of her, he hires MBC, Magnificent Bastard Consulting, to help him create the illusion of him being in a new relationship. Shane Willoughby is considered New York's royalty. She helps out her friend by agreeing to take on Jake's case. From their first meeting, sparks fly and even though they tell themselves it's only pretend, it's so much more.

The chemistry between them was hot and their banter was witty and fun. They really hit it off well, and got each other within a few days of knowing each other. Despite the crazy ex-girlfriend, and past issues, the two of them worked through things together.

All in all, this was an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

While I own several of Lili Valente's books, this is the first one I actually got to read and it was... Well, incredible!

The beginning was a little unrealistic, but I honestly couldn't care less, because the chemistry between Jake and Shane was off the charts. The story fleow perfectly, the flirting was cute and had a witty, entertaining edge to it and I loved the added suspense at the end.
Great story and amazing characters. I feel like I need to read the rest of the MBC bunch's stories ASAP.

Jake and Shane’s fake dating scheme unites a gorgeous Viking NHL superstar with a publicity problem and a wealthy no filter, no BS, sexy blonde bombshell who agrees to be his partner in crime to outwit his crazy stalker. Jake is intense both on and off the ice with a mercurial, private personality and a disdain for the local police. What starts out as a plan to pretend he’s in love quickly becomes the real thing when he’s met with Shane’s vulnerability, their steamy, hot chemistry, and the continued threats from his ex who won’t go quietly. I loved Jake’s attraction to Shane’s heart of gold, the charity work they have in common, and the chemistry between them that flares out of control. I loved Shane’s stubborn determination, her vulnerable heart that has been battered beyond repair, and the protection she finds in Jake’s arms. It’s an emotionally driven, sexy romance between loners searching for a soft place to fall with steamy chemistry and a threat of danger featuring wonderfully complex characters and appealing narration performances by Tyler Donne and Summer Roberts that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Another enjoyable Magnificent Bastards story. This time, we get it mostly from Shane's POV, which is different, since the other two were from a male POV. But we also get a little bit from Jake's POV, too. Shane has been recruited by Bash to help Jake, a professional hockey player, repair his image. Jake's crazy ex has accused him of assault yet won't leave him alone. The idea is that if Shane and Jake can sell a relationship, his ex will back off. Mmmmm... not so much. And how handy is it that Shane and Jake have chemistry that's off the charts? I just throws fuel on the fire of Jake's ex. But watching Shane and Jake get closer was super cute. Yeah, maybe it happened kinda fast, but it was still super cute. A bit of tension near the end, but it all worked out. Gotta read the next one!

This one was a little more sad and dangerous. I do have to say that when authors write characters who don't see the writing on the wall, makes me a little upset. I mean, Shane told him so many times that his ex was dangerous and he just poo poo'd it away.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to listening to Nate and Addie's story. I hope it's lighter.
