Four couples are on a winter break to an isolated log cabin. When the group get snowed in and their friend disappears, paranoia sets in. They’ll need to work out which one of them is a killer, before they pick them off one by one.
I live in Spain with my partner of over 30 years and we have two grown-up children. I have worked in social care and the NHS since 1991 and use my experiences in that field to create complex and realistic characters and backgrounds.
I hope my readers enjoy the stories I write but I would also like them to address social inequality and raise people's awareness.
2.5 stars. This was a decent mystery that reminded me a bit of Freida McFadden's One by One. But the overuse of commas to link phrases that should have been two separate sentences was a distraction.
4.5 I just finished One of Us is A Killer by Molly Garcia who is a new to me author :) . This book was a WILD ride. I loved how the writer brings to life each character and just when you think you have the killer all figured out...you don't!
Four couples go on a getaway to a remote winter cabin.. you have all the snowy vibes!! One of their single friends is supposed to go as well but she never shows and one by one members of the friend group start to show up missing. Which one of them is the murderer? What about the neighbor in the nearby cabin?
This story kept me guessing & on the edge of my seat. If you are a fan of mystery/thrillers with lots of twists then you don't want to miss this one!
“One of Us Is A Killer” by Molly Garcia, is quite a ride! The story follows four couples who head off for a vacation in a remote cabin, only to get snowed in—then, one by one, people start dying. The suspense was absolutely gripping from start to finish, with each twist leaving me more on edge. The tension between the characters was palpable, and I couldn’t help but question everyone’s motives. The real highlight, though, was the unexpected ending. It completely caught me off guard! Garcia does a fantastic job of keeping you guessing until the very end. If you're a fan of thrillers with plenty of twists and turns, this one is a must-read!
Twisty. Full of suspense. Isolated location. I tried so hard to figure out who the killer was throughout the book and just could not. I was pleasantly surprised with the ending. Read this very quickly. Absolutely loved this story!
One Of Us Is A Killer by Molly Garcia 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This is a super fun and suspenseful murder mystery/thriller story! A friend group of 4 couples go to a remote cabin to enjoy a relaxing and fun winter vacation together. But one by one, some of the friends begin to disappear and everyone is afraid there’s a killer on the loose! This story is full of exciting twists and turns! I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book! It’s a short and very entertaining read! Molly is fantastic at telling a story!
Thank you to Molly Garcia for an arc of this excellent winter thriller book! *This book comes out December 20th! ❄️ You will want to grab this awesome book to read by the warm fire!*
Nadija Mujagic Hope you don’t mind I copied this to put on my review. I sincerely thank you for reading this book! If you enjoyed it, a positive review would mean the world to me. Like other small-press and indie authors, I rely heavily on word-of-mouth recommendations to reach new readers. Please consider leaving a review, even if it’s only a sentence.
The characters in this book infuriated me and made me tense as the characters were tense and suspicious in the book. You won’t guess the ending.
I just finished my ARC of “One of Us is A Killer” by Molly Garcia Author and I’m speechless! 🫢
If you’re looking for a short novella that you CAN NOT put down…THIS IS IT!
Molly has really done it this time, she had me hooked on the first page and brought the intensity with each chapter. The character development brings to life so many suspects that you think you know, but you really don’t. And just when you think you know, you still don’t…🤷🏻♀️
I really don’t know what to say except for…YOU HAVE GOT TO GET YOUR HANDS ON THIS ONE! 😳
Thank you so much Molly for entrusting me to be an ARC reader for such an amazing book! 🤩
This is a gripping thriller that cleverly creates suspense and intrigue from start to finish, with unexpected twists, making it difficult to put down. There is an atmosphere of tension and paranoia amongst four couples, who are isolated and stranded in a winter cabin. Each character is developed with enough depth to keep readers guessing about whodunit and their true motives, which adds to the mystery.
This is the second time I've read Molly Garcia's work. She's a great storyteller and has a way of quickly developing relatable characters, so that you feel truly invested in the story.
This was a great whodunnit. Four couples, some long-time friends and others newer to the group, are on a winter break in an isolated log cabin.
When people start to go missing and the snow cuts them off from the outside world, paranoia sets in, tensions mount, and fingers are pointed. Will they get picked off one by one, or will help arrive in time?
This short read is a real page-turner that will keep you guessing with some great twists. A thoroughly enjoyable five-star read!
This was my 4th novella this year, and it was the first worthy of a 5 star review. It was a great little thrill ride. Author Molly Garcia, does an amazing job of keeping you guessing. This is a trust no one, suspect everyone kind of story. I loved the chapters that gave a glimpse into the killer’s thoughts without giving away their identity. This was my first Molly Garcia read, but it certainly won’t be my last. If she packs this much intensity, doubt, suspicion, and drama into a novella, I can’t wait to see what her full length novels have in store.
This book is so well written that you feel like you are in the cabin amongst all the suspects. Every chapter ends with a cliff hanger and keeps you guessing throughout the book. The ending is perfect!
I enjoyed this quick, twisty read. I did have it figured out partially, but was definitely still shocked by a twist I didn’t see coming. Molly Garcia is a new author to me, but I will definitely be reading more of her books!
Honestly, enjoyed this book much more than I expected too. I love a locked door thriller/mystery, which is exactly what this novella is. I got this book for free as part of Stuff Your Kindle Day, and I’m so glad I did!
This book has suspense, multiple perspectives (main character and the unknown killer), and an unexpected twist at the end. I had it narrowed down to two characters at the end, and I enjoyed the reasoning behind it all. Would definitely recommend this as a quick suspenseful read.
An excellent winter thriller novella. A group of friends go on vacation, and slowly, people start to disappear. There are plenty of twists and turns. I enjoyed the characters and writing.
Good story, well written, was definitely hooked! I really liked getting the killers pov as well! The thing that took the star away was one of the characters, super annoying and no one had a backbone to stand up for themselves or their wives.
One of Us is a Killer by Molly Garcia is an excellent murder mystery that keeps you guessing. Four couples go to a log cabin for a holiday together but get snowed in. As they begin to disappear and are found dead, the remainder try to figure out who the killer is. Each character is a suspect and I had my own suspects as more and more came out about them. The ending was a surprise but it made perfect sense. Recommended.
This was a good short read of a psychological thriller. At only about 130 pages, it still managed to cover a lot of ground and kept you guessing who the murderer was.
One of Us is A Killer by Molly Garcia an exciting yet tense murder mystery/thriller. I’m a fan of Garcia’s Ethan Quinn series and when I saw the description of this new release, reading it was a no brainer. The story follows a friend group of four couples who get snowed in at a cabin on winter vacation. Little do they (or most of them at least) know that a ninth friend was murdered before the trip even started and the killer is amongst them, struggling to control their urge to kill again.
One of Garcia’s strengths is her ability to create great characters and relationships which really helps draw you in to the story. The friend group quickly started to question everything they knew about each other, the fear and tension of these characters was palpable, I felt like i was right there in the cabin with them.
A quick suspenseful read that grips you from the start, you won’t want to put this down!
Received as an audio copy to review from the narrator, this is an honest review. Narrator Grant Love gives this brilliant twisted story the harrowing edge that turns a thriller set during the glistening winter into all out nightmare that no one can easily escape from. When a group of friendship and couples decided to spend some time isolated from the city at some cabins were going to be a good time; when a vicious snow storm shuts them to where they are, the fun was over a their worry ran deeper than they're dwindling food supply. The isolation becomes the perfect hunting grounds for a devilish killer that in a gracious dark brilliance claims those that just happen to be in wrong place for a murderer to strike. As a haunted paranoia straggles everyone's sanity... wondering if anyone will come before they're all dead; reality is shattered when the killer is finally revealed and a whole new tragedy the group is forced to endure.
This is one really exciting thriller from Molly. Four couples who are good friends go for a winter cabin holiday in the snowy woods. A 7th friend who supposed to join them mysteriously never turns up. Members of the group start going missing, is one of them a murderer and killing them one by one? This one truly gripped me and had me guessing all through, and I never knew knew who the real suspect was until the reveal at the end, it could have been anyone of them even the occupants of the next door cabin. One Of Us Is A Killer certainly keeps you on edge, with a great suspenseful and thrilling storyline, fantastic characters, and stunning settings. Once again, another excellently well written must-read book from Molly Garcia. This one for me exceeds a 5⭐️ rating
Four couples take a “holiday” in a mountain cabin and get snowed in. Then they start dying. Can you figure out who the murderer is?
I did, early on, and I kept reading to find out if I was right. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have finished the book.
The writing is decent, and the story begins with a popular mystery/thriller trope. Those are the positives.
But the contrivances to get the plot to work, the implausible actions of the characters, the unlikeable characters, and the feminist outrage threaded throughout the story held it back.
Four couples take a winter vacation to a secluded cabin. As the snow falls, so do the bodies. With each passing second, the killer is stalking their prey. The group must battle for survival, but against who?
I really like books where the action is cut off from the rest of the world (like being snowed in). The author manages to weave an intriguing story that had me wondering about every person at the cabin.
If you are like me and enjoy the tension in books, then this is the one for you!
What a stunner. Four couples cut off in a cabin are slowly picked off. A classic horror trope and one that is superbly done. Great characters, great setting, suspenseful and tense as their trust and friendship unravel. I Loved the chapters from the killers perspective. I was completely shocked by the end, did not see that coming. Narration is excellent but perhaps a little over dramatic at times. Loved this book and would highly recommend it.
Brilliant narration from Grant Love, who brings the suspense, thrill and mystery to your ears.
What can go wrong when four couples go to a cabin. Getting cut off is one, and slowly each one of them gets killed. Who is the killer and why are people getting murdered. Great characters, suspenseful, who can be trusted. Great twist in seeing/listening to the killers thoughts, perspective, and trying to stop…..
This book was a crazy ride from the start! When you thought you knew who the killer was…nope! You started your suspicions all over again. I was guessing the entire book and still didn’t know who it was! The ending was the biggest twist! I really enjoyed reading this and definitely recommend! First book by her and it sure won’t be the last!!!!
I just finished One of Us is A Killer and my goodness! This was SO GOOD!! I'm thankful for the opportunity in reading this as an ARC! Super grateful!
It gives me vibes that it could be a second one..... possibly?!? I'm here for it! December 20th can't get here soon enough! Yall make sure to add this thriller to your collection!
Molly Garcia's One of Us Is a Killer is a tense, heart-pounding thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Set in a remote log cabin, a winter break meant for relaxation quickly turns into a deadly game of survival as one of the group vanishes, and paranoia sets in.
Garcia excels at creating a claustrophobic atmosphere, where every character is a potential suspect and no one can be trusted. As the group is snowed in, the isolation and mounting fear heighten the sense of danger, making you feel as if you're trapped with them in the cabin. The pacing is fast and tight, with each chapter revealing new layers of doubt, suspicion, and fear among the friends.
With only 139 pages, the story packs in plenty of twists, and the suspense never lets up. The mystery of who the killer is will keep you guessing, and Garcia masterfully plays with your expectations, keeping you uncertain of who you can trust. The stakes grow higher as the group realizes that the killer is among them—and if they don’t figure it out quickly, they could be the next victim.
A perfect read for fans of psychological thrillers and locked-room mysteries, One of Us Is a Killer delivers suspense, drama, and a shocking conclusion. Highly recommend!
