Violet Sinclair is obsessed with all things historical; ballrooms, fancy gowns, and Regency England. When she's not traveling with her boys, you can find her writing sexy stories and dreaming of her next journey poolside beneath the Florida palm trees.
This was a sweet story, a tale as old as time and I truly adore a Beauty & the Beast re-telling – just open me up and pour it directly in! Rose Sheffield and Henry, Earl of Ashbourne are both outsiders who struggle to find their place in society. For romance reasons, Rose agrees to become a companion to his invalid mother and off they head to his country estate where Rose and the beast become friends.
The whole interlude where Rose helped Henry through various social situations was so great – I was very into how protective she became of him, so things took a bit of a turn when Rose convinced herself of Henry’s rakish ways – in spite of ALL evidence to the contrary. So, for me, that was an unnecessary deviation. Also, I struggled with Henry’s mother’s machinations and the effect they had on him – that was all kinda swept under the rug and since this story already had me feeling protective of Henry..
If you’re curious, the steam was a level 1 – and I prefer my steam to be.. steamier. The tension between Rose and Henry throughout was SO GOOD, the slow burn was very well done! Imagine my surprise when I was all buckled up and ready to go.. and the pot had essentially been turned down to low. I really wanted it to be on high.. I wanted the pot to boil over. Personal preference though, as I said.
The writing was good, the characters were lovely and I enjoyed my time with them!

This is my first time reading a novel by Violet Sinclair, and I was thoroughly charmed by this book! The main characters, for me, are highly crucial in keeping me glued to the book, and those in this book did an excellent job in keeping me riveted to their story. Henry Ashbourne and Rose Sheffield were immensely engaging - Henry being an enormous, forbidding hunk of a man with high levels of social anxiety, and Rose with her sharp tongue, quick with, and brazen honesty. Their interactions keep you entertained right from the start, and their banter just keep you thoroughly amused. Of course, the budding attraction between them was intoxicating in that you couldn't wait to get to the part when they finally admit to each other how much they want one another. It truly was an entertaining read for me, and with this taste of Ms. Sinclair's writing, I definitely plan to return for more.

I enjoyed this book, and have awarded it four stars, although actually I think 3.5 would be more accurate. I think this is supposed to be a beauty and the beast retelling, but I never really understood why Henry Grayson was considered a beast. True, he was physically large, but it seems to me he was more clumsy than anything else, and I didn’t really understand why he had the reputation he did, or why he caused young women to faint by simply approaching them.
The scene where Henry and Rose Sheffield meet is hilarious, and their developing relationship is charming. I found Henry‘s mother a bit over the top in her deviousness and outright dishonesty, but she added to the humor of the book.
This book is very low steam, not like other books I’ve read by this author, and I found that disappointing.

Well written, full of drama, love, society, betrayal, intrigue, family and twists. Rose is a young lady whose father passes away a year ago. They has another fight and he disinherits her again but dies before he can change his will back to protect her. Henry is an Earl who acts like a beast and is the same size as one. After hitting him over the head, Rose is offered to be his mother's companion/guest. She accepts and learns what another woman to him. Henry bumps his heads with Rose but starts to notice her as a woman. As time passes, they both discover feelings for the other and need to get to their happily ever after. Would recommend this book to everyone.

Rose and Henry meet under strange circumstances which lead to Rose becoming his mother's companion. This close proximity means Rose and Henry eventually have a more meaningful relationship and the grumpy, 'ox' of a man, mellows.
His mother, Lady Beatrice, wants nothing more than for her son to marry, but when his ex bully girlfriend Carla arrives on the scene his relationship with both Rose and Beatrice becomes strained and Rose considers leaving.
Slow burn, low spice, well crafted, great historical read full of detail. If you like to lose yourself in worlds full of ball gowns and chivalry then this is for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed Violet Sinclair’s rendition of the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast. Rose is a misunderstood, intelligent, and very independent young belle. Henry is a gruff, burly, and seclusive man who appears beastly at times. The scene where they meet is actually quite funny. The author uses a scheming mama, a few ladies maids, and the guests at a house party to further develop the story. Just like in the classic tale, this couple captures your heart and leaves you smiling…

Such a sweet regency take on a tale as old as time. I really loved both characters and enjoyed their development and growth. My only criticism is that there were SEVERAL typos and inconsistent sentences in the first 10 chapters and there were not scene breaks! It was so confusing to suddenly be in another place or time and it’s just the next paragraph… very confusing and dividers are very much needed. That would have easily made this a five star book. Thank you for the opportunity to read this advance review copy. I was happy to leave a review.
What should an outspoken witty young lady do? Learn to be proper to survive and how long is that suppose last? Well, she can try.
He has to bring a companion to his mother. The first one ran off so might as well try to find a replacement.
I read this book very quickly and moved on. I enjoyed it while I read it. But it's not one I would reread.

A wonderful story of unexpected love. It’s well written and very entertaining, especially Rose’s quick mind and sharp tongue. The characters of Henry and Rose are well developed with some great dialogues. This is a story worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksirens and are voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a very delightful and well written love story. A very warmer is the beginning of an engaging romance that includes a bluestocking, an Earl, and his crippled mother, and is stocked full with humor and wit. I enjoyed the dynamics of the likable and interesting characters. How their relationship progressed was very entertaining. I highly recommend reading!
I love humor in what I read and the banter between Henry and Rose is superb. A well written story that entertains, amuses and keeps the reader fully engaged is one not to miss out on. Rose is feisty and a bit brazen. Henry has social issues. The two were destined to be together in order to find peace, happiness and healing. Well Done!
A witty and entertaining read with charming characters in the reclusive, beastly Henry and the outspoken Rose. I loved the banter between them. Slow burn with very little spice but a very enjoyable read.
