Killer on the Homestead by Nicole Helm is a great contemporary romance with a bit of murder and mystery involved. A young man returns home after his career in baseball ends. He injured his shoulder which may never go back to the way it was before the injury. He's resting at home and finds out cows are disappearing from his parents' farm. His mother asks him to ask the woman next door who does investigative services. He grew up alongside the woman but now, she is even more beautiful. There is attraction between them but they put the mystery of the cows missing first. It turns from a mystery of theft to something more sinister as they delve deeper into the case. Family is a forefront theme in this read.

BY THE TEETH OF MY SKIN I FINISHED THIS ON 09/30 AT 11:57!!! I almost didn't finish, but I did & it's my third book for September!! I'm proud of myself!! Three books in one month!!
As for the book, I give it four stars, it was a beautiful book I absolutely recommend!! I just wished it focused more on the suspense than the slice of life, if I want that I'll pick up a different country book. But it was still cute!!!
I loved the storyline, and all the excitement that went with the story. The characters were interesting and kept me wanting to read. It had me guessing who the bad person was in the story, was surprise who it was.
Enjoyed the mystery and the romance! Lately a number of Intrigues have been more action than mystery so I enjoyed that this one truly was a mystery. The romance was sweet. Duncan was an easy character to like. This can be read stand alone.
