When Syx, a stranger in need of help, ends up on Aari’s doorstep, their worlds collide in the most unexpected way. He’s guarded and rough around the edges; she’s cautious yet compassionate. Despite their differences, one unforgettable holiday shows them that every meeting, no matter how brief, can shape your life in ways we never imagined.
Would you allow a strange man evading police custody into your home after he showed up on your doorstep!? 🗣️AARI DID! *in my DJ Khaled voice. As a forensic social worker she is used to bridging the gap between inner city youth and law enforcement. So while OUR alarms would be firing off all cylinders, she saw something in Sxy and despite all of the red flags that were waived in her face in a matter of minutes, she welcomes him into her cocoon of safety.
Syx knew his clock was ticking. He knew that he wasn’t completely innocent of his crimes and had a wrap sheet longer than a CVS receipt but in this instance, that last nail in the coffin is what’s going to potentially put him behind bars for a really long time even if he isn’t 100% guilty. So what does he do?! He makes the most of his last moment of freedom with Aari and they must’ve been channeling their inner Keith Sweat because the 🎶 Make it last forever. Don't let our love end…Let me hear you tell me you love me. Let me hear you say you'll never leave me. Ooh, girl, that would make me feel so right. Let me hear you tell me you want me. Let me hear you say you'll never leave me, baby. Until the morning light 🎶The memories and moment created where definitely ones for the books 😏
These two really made the most of their short time together and if Aari don’t want Sxy when he gets his affairs in order 🎶shawty swing my wayyyy 🎶. Sxy showed Aari a different type on love and care and I’m happy she experience Sxy because I can guarantee that regardless of what the future holds, she won’t settle for a bum!
🦃 If ya family ain’t cutting up and carrying on like the Kinlaw’s in the group chat remove me! 🍽️ If ya family ain’t cutting up and carrying on like the Kinlaw’s at the dinner table don’t invite me. These folks were my kind of toxic until then end of the book 😒 🍁 It was the Christmas gifts for me 🥹🌎💐 🤎 It was the target shenanigans for me! 🧡 It’s on sight for every mf body except Jamaal for me 🤬🤬🤬 Auntie Sylvia you can catch these hands too 🥄🥄
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the beginning of this story did feel eerily familiar to another book but I will also say that after that initial eye brow raise the story did talk on a life of its own. The last 30% is what really did it for me and I loved the turn things took. I’m really hoping this isn’t the end of them and that we get a follow up/ continuation to their story!
Hums in Rashawnda Flat…🎶No one but you, baby, can make me feel. The way you make me, make me, make me feel🎶
Syx was sooo dreamy and perfect! Regardless of how they came together, Arii and Syx’s chemistry was oozing from the pages. The sisters had my nerves so bad - like is jealousy in the room with us?! omg, they deserved what Arii gave them, and then some. Smh!
Book cover alone deserves all the stars. So pretty!! 😍😍😍
4.75⭐️ The way this book ended 🙃 Are we even getting a book 2?!?!?! Cuz nopeeeee! We need them loose ends tied up lol There was no HEA 😩
Had a man just showed up on my doorstep asking can he come inside to hide from the police, I would’ve immediately been like hell no. Buttttttt Aari let Syx in and that’s where their story begins. They got to know each other within a short amount of time and it was cute to see. Parts of the story were very funny.
Aari sisters were some HATERS!!!!! Straight up dust bunnies lol ughhhhh the mom is too lowkey.
This book was so good I didn’t want it to end 😩 Aari & Syx were so cute & their chemistry from the very beginning was unmatched! They went from the meeting in the most unexpected way after he barged into her life.. to falling for each other in just a few short days! The way he meshed into her life effortless you would think they’d known each other for a lifetime!! Syx saw Aari in a way nobody had & gave her the reassurance she was used to giving everybody else but desperately needed for herself! The ending left me wanting more!!!! I need to know what happens next between these two!!! I can’t wait to get into book 2!
This book was the epitome of right place, wrong time. Aari was very brave for letting Syx, a stranger on the run from the police, into her home and some may say a little crazy. However, due to her job she saw something in him and knew there was more to his story that met the eye. The longer they spent time together it was clear that he was what she needed at this point in her life and he was what she needed. Sad it was for a short period of time but it taught us that sometimes we have to live for the moment and not worry about the tomorrows that will come. Kayla needs to get more than what she got because she did not need to do what she did even if she called herself being "concerned." We didn't het a HEA in this one but I hope there will be another book with these two where we may be able to.
I had to give it 5 stars lol even though it didn’t end how I wanted it ended how it was supposed to. I do want follow up though like even if she don’t end up with Syxtopher, I need her family situation worked through. Lmao through fist or other means but her mama owe her an apology and her sisters need to be dragged forreal no interruptions. Overall this book will really have you in your feelings and deep in gratitude and reflection. This was a good holiday novel forreal it wasn’t corny and it covered a lot of aspects of the holidays that people don’t talk about a lot because it ruins the “magic” of it all.
Wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What????????????? Where's the Rest?????????????????????????????????
At the beginning of this adventure, I thought Aari was out of her mind. A gang banger, running from from the police, is pounding on her door looking for a place to hide, and she takes him in. Say what???????
By the "end" of the story, I understood how Aari felt, about not passing judgment until the person's actual circumstances are revealed. Nevertheless, this is not the "ending" these two deserve!!!!!
☆☆☆☆.5 ——- ⇰ I absolutely loved Syx and Aari. It’s typical I like one MC over the other but both of them were my loves. ⇰ I typically am critical of insta-lust stories but I feel this author portrayed their journey well and wrote it for what it was. I fell in love with the way Syx cared for my girl and helped her realize some things in her life. He was a street dude but for Aari he was gentle. The life he was dealt had me so sad for my book bae. ⇰ Aari’s family was something else! I didn’t dislike anyone more than Dana and Kayla trifling selves. Jealousy is a UGLY TRAIT!!! ⇰ I am going to be diving into book two immediately because the ending was not satisfying for me lol. ——- ♡ Tropes ♡ ⇰ Insta Lust ⇰ MMC on the run ⇰ Family Drama ⇰ Dual POV
This book had me smiling and pissed by the end. I wanted to choke her sister up. I live a good fall in love at first sight. Come on Syx!! I hope that he gets out and goes to get his girl because sheeeeesh. This deserves some more words.

Kaylyn Octavia Melinda Lakeisha September how did you just end it like so like that!!!!##$$%??????? Very Good quick read. I know you need to add to this story very soon. It can't just end like that. Come on, Syx and Ms. A deserve it. Plus that Kayla needs her tail taken down through there again . Got them singing Alexander ONeal song 🎶🎶If you were with me now🎶🎶🎶
This book was pretty good. Fast paced, easy to read and an interesting plot. The FMC and MMC had great chemistry and connection. However, The ending was anticlimactic. It turned a 4 star to a 3 star for me. I won’t add spoilers but ehhh could have been better. Or even a bonus epilogue after some time had passed.
3.5⭐️🌶️🌶️ Syx & Aari had great chemistry, but some of the naïve things that Miss Girl did at the beginning of this book had me screaming like I had never seen in a lifetime movie. Then, poor Syx, he was trying to better himself, and he let his friends rope him into losing his freedom and then didn’t even care. The villains of the story are Dawn, Dana, and Kayla. I kind of want to read book 2 just to see how the story ends.
Whew this was a great read. I felt like I was IN the story. I ha e a thing for Syx and I hope Celeste can work her magic! So glad I found this book after part 2 is already out!
Listen I ate this up and I’m so glad to know there’s more. Aari and Syx came together under very complicated conditions but you cannot deny their chemistry. Kayla and Dana though 👎🏾👎🏾
4/5 - I loved everything about Aari and Syx! I did not want their story to end. The chemistry and banter between the two was everything — I almost forget they had just met. - Her sisters, Dana and Kayla are straight haters!
I know she didn’t just do that. Their chemistry was everything. The way this woman tells a story. The character development. Every thing was sensational
Aari and Syx met in the most unconventional way, but for a few days, they both became what each other needed and poured into each other to be better for the future - wherever that led them. They were carefree and reckless but still authentic to their true selves. It was interesting and heart healing to see it all unfold and had me rooting for loopholes and happily ever afters for them. It is fiction though, so it is with that understanding that I liked these characters and wanted them to have that HEA- in real life though, none of this could have ever been good. Overall, the storyline, the family dynamic- even those triflin sisters, and the budding romance between the main characters kept me fully engaged and in the end, also had my heart hurting for them too. On to book 2 to see what becomes of Aari and Syx.
