Ash has settled into his new life as the boss of District 114, but discord lies ahead. A new wave of rifts occupies the council, and powerful foes seek revenge on his ally.
When Ash finds himself intervening between a powerful clan and the daughter of the man he killed, the lines between friend and foe blur. Worse, his own magic has started to revolt against him.
An avid reader with a fondness for Fantasy, Sci-fi, and HaremLit Books. I strive to write interesting worlds and characters like those that drew me to these genres. My debut book, Exile: De'Vas Chronicles Book 1, is my aim to achieve that goal. I hope you enjoy the book and the others to come in the future.
I've read two books in this harem monster girl urban fantasy series and enjoyed them both. The characters are engaging, the world is interesting, and the writing is well done. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Noted that there are some errors, but as I believe this book is most likely self-edited, some mistakes are bound to happen. If the author used a decent grammar checker (Pro Writing Aid, Grammarly, Hemingway, etc.), some more of the mistakes might get caught before publication.
I like the amount of humor in the books so far. The author does a good job balancing action, romance, sex, and conflict with moments of humor.
My only complaint is that the ice salamander woman whom the PC gifted a mighty weapon to in the previous book, did not get a chance to use said mighty weapon. While the salamander finally completely joined the harem (shower oral sex is always fun) I wanted to see her take that magical sword and kick some ass.
I expected the harem members to kick ass. The dryad was awesome, but I expected more from the banshee and the salamander. Perhaps in the next book we will see the other harem members flex their might.
The sex is graphic, but not quite Penthouse Letters. The sex is protected by magic rather than a contraceptive device, so the MC is raw dogging his harem. The sex is very vanilla, so if you are looking for kinky shite, this is not the book you are looking for. YMMV

A pretty good addition to the series. Nothing groundbreaking but it is still right up my alley. Everything just continues on where it left off. Ash is in charge of the district and he is actually doing things to help it and get people to get along which is more than what other people are doing. Most only care about power and their own group. Some problems come up when Ash has to step up to protect one of the councils allies, the one that hates him because he killed her father. Overall, I like the series and will continue it.
I was very much looking forward to this book. The first one was very well written and engaging, sadly this one fell short.
Some light spoilers ahead:
The complete 180 of Selena’s character was a travesty. She personally discovered and was repulsed by learning that her father was a murderous monster who was dealing in slavery and worse, yet somehow she goes full stupid wanting to kill Ash, Cleo, and everyone else! This is a complete departure from her character that was established and even then done in such an awful way that I honestly came close to quitting the series a few times.
There were SO MANY spelling and grammatical errors in this book that it was jarring. I remember the first one didn’t have very many and I appreciated that, this one however was rife with them.
There was just so much about this sequel that I really didn’t like. I was going to give it 2 stars but I do ultimately like the world and have serious hope the author will pull it back in.
Oh that hit the spot. I tend to review every book regardless of whether I liked it or not. The last two books I reviewed we're very hard to get through. Had me thinking of what exactly what I consider a top-notch book. The answer is any book that is hard to put down and if you are successful in doing so you can't wait to get back to it. That is this entry into this new series for me. I am very much enjoyed the story and I'm very much looking forward to a sequel. I haven't yet double back to pick up the audio books. As of right now only the first book has received the audio treatment. I have a preference for them because I can enjoy the story as I handle chores or other mundane aspects of life. In this entry our main character is dealing with some of the consequences of his scar. There seems to be hints of additional ladies that may be joining his relationship. We have a gin who goes out of his mind making bad choice after bad choice. Lastly we have a bit of a tease at the end that hints at us perhaps seeing more of vas. With that said I will simply say a round of applause for everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Amazon readers.
This second book in the De'Vas Chronicles series was really strong, and I enjoyed reading it.
The MC is confronted with the "sins" of his protecting District 114, the one he is in charge of. The man who tried to kill him has a daughter that has inherited her father's district, and wants revenge against the people responsible for her dad's death. Along the way, she learns more about these people, and her viewpoints are challenged.
Meanwhile, the harem goes from 1 to 2, and several other women are showing signs of interest. It shall be interesting to see how the MC juggles the various women flirting with him.
The only issue was the author has trouble with homonyms, and there were some really silly mistakes based on them in the book. Their editor needs to do better work.
Actually pretty good continuation of book one. The story and setting was interesting and the characters are actually developing nicely. The only problem? It makes you want more. I like the idea how the main character ...isn't really part of the big picture to all that is happening in the world of De'Vas. His main focus is own people, his growing power and district. While, Whatever action he takes, does reflect on what's going on...it's the side characters who are more involved with it whole picture. There are deep politics, internal racial strife and otherworldly events/situations that is happening that actually makes you want more. The writing is still clipped and to the point, the story has less fat and more substance. However, it is edited in a way that makes the story read better and enjoyable. I cannot wait for book three.
The characters have reasonable growth in their relationships and the foreshadowing of future things. Something I have heard is common in h-lit books is that they never have other men except the main character and bad guys, but this world is a rich world with a broad cast of supporting characters that have their own growth and agency, treating the sexy harem as just another aspect of the story. Definitely good and will definitely continue reading this series.
I love the characters its a good read but just like in book 1 the spice is almost non existent and faylyn is still cock blocking 🚫 and we still doing fade to black or glossed over you can't really call it a harem with 1 woman and i have a feeling he will only end up with 3 a wolf a lizard and a dryad because of faylyn and he would of been happy with just her so the author could of just made this a regular fantasy book
Just gonna be straight up everything you liked about book one is here and more. The world building is great and the characters continue to be fantastic. The romance is sweet we tie up some story stuff from book one while new foundations are being placed for future plots.
An incredible amount of fun. I enjoyed the first one so much that I just jumped into this one. Cutting off the - to be read list - but that didn't matter much because, like before, this is such a smooth read, It was done in mere hours. Now the problem is waiting for the next one.
I like the series and the MC. The world is slowly being fleshed out as the series continues. Don't know if there is an over-arching plot yet, but the small book plots are good for now. I feel that they will build into something bigger. I'm looking forward to it.
This series is really a fun read, lots of intriguing characters existing in a very twisted world!!! The MC is definitely not OP but has a wonderfully crazy family and friends to save him from himself!!! Dark humor, fantasy activities and crazy adventures make this a must read!!!
After the first book I expected to the series to take a dip as most sequels do, but I am happy to report that this series just keeps getting better! Another conflict of course but closely tied to the first story and we are slowly seeing a zoom-out taking a look at larger issues inthis world!!
Not even a couple hours out and I already finished the book, I'm telling you man. This is some utter bull, but that's how good the boom is, I couldn't stop and now I have to agonizingly wait till next year to read Book 3
The first book was amazing, and this book is even better! I love how Chass can have a serious story but also have Lilly and Luna antics. It makes the whole story come together and feel very real. I'm super excited for the next book.
I really like the world that the author had created, the action is great and I’ve laughted out loud a few times, the characters are diverse and have depth, can’t wait for book 3
Just as good as the first book, and it expands the scope of the District system. Ash manages to get a better handle on his life in exile, and the ending definitely sets things up to continue and expand.
In many ways this book is better than the first. It does suffer from the problem of power creep, which is inevitable when you have a protagonist who has magical powers. Still, the characters are solid and the action is fun. Looking forward to the next one.
Not as much happened as the last book, or at least the plot didn't really move forward. We didn't get much more lore either. But we did get a new LI, Naomi, although we already knew that was going to happen so I can't say this book had much, just more of the same.
I throughly enjoyed this book. It expands the world we were introduced to in the first book and has an action-filled plot, great dialogue, and sexy romantic times. There is so much to like. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book.
I love this series and this author. I didn’t think this series could get better than the first book but this one surpassed that. Great characters, great writing, great romance. What’s not to love.
I enjoyed it as much as the first if not a tad more. The pacing was a tad better but noticeably so. The plots keep thickening around our Protag and his growing family and friends. Definitely looking forward to Book 3.
Enjoyed the story, spoiled for me by poor editing. Example: jewelry includes pendant and brooch, not, as here, pendent and broach, both of which are verbs, not nouns. I have long seen editing as one of the publisher’s responsibilities.
Awesome series, great story and really wholesome cute moments mixed in. Absolutely anyone who's a fan of the genre pick it up. One of the best executions I've seen.
Book two deals with the aftermath of the first book's reagent farming. Our "villains" this time are mostly motivated by grief, so I felt somewhat conflicted. I liked it overall.
