When a secret enemies-with-benefits situation turns into the world’s most public fake marriage…
The world knows me as Landry Davis, supermodel. A beautiful face and killer abs that have spawned a hundred fantasies.
To my friends, I’m simply Landry, the snarkiest (read: most fun) member of our billionaire brotherhood.
But to Kenji Toma, the gorgeous and oh-so-capable personal assistant I’ve been in love with for years, I’m “effing Landry,” the charming slacker who disappears for weeks only to resurface in trouble. His favorite enemy-with benefits. A man he refuses to fall in love with (though I’ve tried) and also can’t resist managing (a fact I’m not too proud to take advantage of).
What none of them know is that I have another title–in fact, a whole other life. One I was born into. One that comes with sprawling estates, a coronet, and a metric ton of familial and political expectations. A life I’ve kept secret for way too long… and hope to keep secret for just a little while longer.
At least until I learn Kenji is in danger.
When all my money and fame can’t save the man I love, I don’t hesitate to use long-hidden political power to whisk him to safety, even though it means outing myself as Viscount Hawling, the elusive heir to the Davencourt earldom…
And pretending the man who loves to hate me is actually my doting husband.

Not as bad as I expected based on the blurb, but it's still far from the story I'd wish for Kenji and Landry.

On the positive note, I love them as characters and as a couple. I really enjoyed the beginning of the story that takes place in New York. I liked the pining, the longing, and the flashbacks and mentions of what happened between them before. Though I'd have loved it more had I experienced it all on page.

On the not so positive note, the story is OTT and ridiculous most of the time, and you really need to suspend disbelief here. I very rarely enjoy reading about politicians, nobility and celebrities followed by paparazzi, and this book hasn't changed that. I expected that much, so these didn't affect my reading experience significantly.

I'm more bothered by the fact that I didn't find this entertaining or romantically satisfying. The whole storyline that takes place in London bored me to no end. There was no real plot and the relationship development didn't feel natural to me. The lack of communication went on for too long and the intimate scenes often felt random or oddly placed. Yes, there were sweet moments between them, but they got lost in the mess of the storyline.

******
Initial thoughts before reading:
I've been eagerly waiting for this story ever since I read book 1, and to say I have high expectations is an understatement. But after reading the blurb, I think that I will only be disappointed, because nothing about it appeals to me. 😕

Finding Lord Landry is the fifth and final book in The Billionaire Brotherhood series by Lucy Lennox. I’ve loved this series from the start. I also love the cover of this book. I think it fits Landry perfectly. But, this review is hard to write for reasons I’ll explain.

Landry Davis is part of the Billionaire Brotherhood, a band of brothers by choice, best friends, who made their fortune early in life but have also gone on to separate careers of their own. Landry is a world famous supermodel. He considers himself the snarkiest and most fun member of their brotherhood. Landry has traveled the world many times over for his job and has managed to get himself into quite a few situations that he has needed help with. That’s where Kenji always comes in.

Kenji Toma is sort of the personal assistant to all the members of the brotherhood. But really, he runs their lives. He handles everything for them. And he’s paid handsomely for it. For the last three years, though, he and Landry have had a separate relationship from the others, Sort of an enemies with benefits relationship. Kenji has a preconceived opinion on what kind of man Landry is. A somewhat wild, carefree, careless man-child that will never grow up. But he is also beautiful, sexy and for whatever reason, wants Kenji. So, Kenji has buttoned down his heart and taken what he can from their times together.

The truth is, that Kenji couldn’t be more wrong about Landry. Landry has an entire other life he has kept hidden from both Kenji and the brotherhood. When they think he is traipsing around the world with no responsibility, he is actually in London, working for his family. Because he has another title no one knows about, Viscount Hawling, the elusive heir to the Davencourt earldom. And now with his father’s health deteriorating, the pressure to accept his place as the head of the family is growing. What Kenji also doesn’t know is that Landry has been secretly, madly in love with him for three long years.

Now down to the nitty gritty. The first half of the book was pretty good. Parts of it were intense even and made my heart beat harder. I didn’t expect that at all! But then I started to struggle. For many reasons. The whole of it is that lack of communication is one of my least favorite issues. These two did not talk. They were masters at avoidance. At times I was angry with Kenji. I thought his treatment of Landry bordered on cruel at times. Even though I knew he was just trying to protect himself. But he never even gave Landry a chance or tried to understand. All those years. It was so obvious how much it hurt Landry even though he tried to cover it up. But also with Landry towards the end, avoiding any attempt to finally talk things out, even though, again, I knew why. For me, knowing from my armchair position how much this behavior was hurting the both of them, I almost couldn’t take it and had to take breaks from reading. I kept telling myself that this is a romance and it was going to have a happy ending. But it was hard to power through. This is the only book of the series I gave a four star rating to.

The ending was very sweet I admit. And there was some exciting news about a new work in progress which I’m really looking forward to.

I’m sure there will be a lot of people out there being annoyed about how this all went between Landry and Kenji but I just ATE IT UP.

Their longing for each other, even when in each other’s arms, was so damn delicious.

Still, there was one big disappointment for me here—hence the rating. It’s even about something Lucy Lennox is usually so damn good at. A beautiful and intense scene of lovemaking. With all the feels. And the one in the cloakroom was NOT it. And after that it was glossed over. Twice! Call me shallow, I don’t mind, but with the back and forth between them, the hurt feelings and yes, again, the longing, I wanted to see that so badly. Needed to see that. And I’m sorry to say that not even the Bonus scene Crossing the Line had given me what I wanted. There were a few other things that bugged me further down the story but I don’t want to get into it any deeper.

Anyhow.
I don’t know if Lucy always planned for Landry practically living a double life and also having a secret affair with Kenji for years but even tho I guess none of us has seen that coming I think it worked out quite well. LL found explanations for all of Landry’s fuckups we’ve witnessed in the past and how it came that Kenji had, in the end, been so wrong about him. It fit and I loved it.

“I may have been the last to know I’d been in a serious relationship for the last three years, but I see it so clearly now. Midnight snacks in my office. Lunch-break runs in the park. Bickering over takeout menus. Deep conversations about everything. Friday night sex that lasted until dawn on Saturday, and Saturday sex that turned into watching Sunday football on the sofa.”

And while this book mainly took place in London, looking back on the whole series I wished it didn’t drift so much to the small-town setting as is the author’s usual because I very much enjoyed and preferred the New York-big city-vibe of book one.

Overall, I loved seeing Landry and Kenji getting their HEA even though their story not quite hit the right note for me. Except for the cover. That one def even hit a high note! *swoon

“When it’s someone you love, taking on their troubles isn’t a burden. It’s a blessing.”

So, I rarely use real-life gifs to convey my thoughts, but considering how this very scene was continuously on-loop in my head while reading, I figured the occasion called for it.
unnamedr

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ You're so right, it definitely could have been a lot worse. 'Cuz honestly, I think I have myself to thank for how I deliberately set myself up for disregarding the political mumbo-jumbo that neither I can validate or verify, and essentially, in the long run, it is going to matter very much moot, because we all know when it comes to affairs of the heart, love triumphs over duty. 🙂‍↕️

Especially one as fabricated as this one. 🤷🏻‍♀️

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Although, nothing can be more unrealistic than the fact that Landry and Kenji had shared countless hookups as friends with benefits for the past three years, three years, mind you, and never ONCE shared a kiss - even if because kissing him even just once would have devastating consequences. 🤨

Babes, I could never. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Even if I've never even been in a relationship. 😔

“I was still waters, and Landry was the damned tempest.”

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ It is also a shame that much of Landry and Kenji's initial relationship was done off-screen; which, I know is not their fault that they were relegated to be the last couple featured in this series. For regrettably it was during much of the other couples' dynamics, their relationship was progressing behind the stage, so that by the time they were the main event, we got the cliffnotes version of what made them, them. Telling me in bullet form of their memorable and special moments that made them click and endear to one another was a downright travesty. 🙂‍↔️

Still, they were annoyingly cute. 🥺

There I said it. 🫣

“A heart at peace is the truest sign you have chosen well. Trust in your path, walk it with confidence, and let the universe meet you with open arms.”

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Not to use a Chaska Inira(I honestly thought this was a real person! 😅) quote to highlight their romance, but they were cute as in I kinda did get behind how the whole Finding Lord Landry was not only related to Landry’s journey of self-acceptance of which path he wished to follow (but, seriously, like there was any doubt 🙄), it was also Kenji's self-discovery of the perks and the price that comes with loving Lord Landry, as the person he really was rather than the facade he had led him to believe.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Disregarding the premise that initially led up to their fake romance, there was a nice subtle warmth to their pitter-patter banter that was endearing. 🥰 Despite how vexed and obstinate Kenji was of said-betrayal that was amped up by his frustrated reluctance of owning up to his own reciprocated affections -' …you don’t know who you are or what you want. Why would I want to be with someone like that?' - I liked that Landry did not take it so much to heart that he sulked in a corner, but proved to Kenji to take him seriously and see his worth and the love he was willing more than ever to give to him. 🫶🏻🫶🏻

“Until his taste was imprinted on my tongue and my wildfire need for him dulled to a steady burn, one spark away from an inferno.”

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ It was disappointing that for all that Kenji praised Landry Davis as the world's most generous lover, I felt like we were robbed of truly getting a feel of it, when said romantic overtures failed to set aflame the fire in me. 😢 Definitely one of the least passionate and smexy of the five, which is a crushing shame, since getting some real action in the bedroom would have earned this a little more appreciative points if we had some more in-depth closure to their sizzles rather than the harried and hurried sneaky quickies we were treated to. Maybe.... 🙃

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Also, not to read between the lines though, but was there some hidden story behind the ancestral rings they exchanged? The casual inclusion of said wife’s brother seemed to be a loaded bullet which never fired, but set my gears turning. Now if Lucy L considered writing a historical romance, I might get into that. 🧐

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ It is a crime that I never got a scene with Kenji tying his hair; long hair is no joke, my friend, and for all that I was "told", rather than "shown" how much Landry loved holding it, it felt like a wasted opportunity never getting to see Kenji having hair trouble with how troubled he was by his newfound acceptance of his feelings for him. 😞 And I really don't mind found family love and all - even if said billionaire's involvement felt more crushing and forced rather than believable - but yeah, if you're familiar enough with my thoughts by now, you know how I feel about cheese and all, and that ending nor epilogue was doing any wonders for me. 😐

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ And just before I go, can authors please go back to writing stand-alones? The drive to turn everything into a series is so tiresome that every introduction of a secondary character is laced with the sole purpose of spiraling into their own story! 🙎🏻‍♀️ Lucy L seems to be taking a page out of Lily M's book, by reviving one of her own oldie series, Made Marian and tying it with the billionaire boys, this time around being Majestic's very own sheriff Foster, who alas, upon his first introduction did nothing to stir my heart, rather aggravate it. 🙅🏻‍♀️ So with that I bid Lucy L adieu, with no real regrets or lingering thoughts, except it was good - with a hopeful and promising start... until it wasn't. Much like John Hammond's dream for a Jurassic Park.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. 😌

You wouldn't think it would be easy to feel sorry for a guy who's not only a secret billionaire, but also a world-famous supermodel, when you find out he's also the heir to an English Earldom.

But you'd be mistaken, because for The Right Honourable Everett Landry Davencourt, Viscount Hawling, it's pretty easy once you find out just what's actually been going on in his life the previous decade or so.

Poor Landry's been having to deal with the increasing knowledge that his father, the 15th Earl, is going to have to step down from his role in the House of Lords because his Alzheimer's is becoming too advanced, and that he will be expected to step up and into a life he's never wanted.

I'm not going to go too much into the narrative here except to say that the way Lucy unfolds all the secrets Landry's been juggling, along with the background of his own upbringing, made me get teary and I love that she took the path she did in telling this story.

It's not a Royalty story, Landry's family are Peers of the Realm not Royals, with centuries of responsibilities and ties to doing the right thing not only for their estate, but also for the good of everyone. It shows the insane pressures that come with a noble title, something a lot of people I think overlook in considering the privileges they can also bestow, but it's important to acknowledge it.

It never becomes preachy though, or a heavy subplot, but the weight of it adds its own importance to Landry's story and how his responsibility to the title has been a rock around his neck for a long time.

Kenji though, while I completely understood his anger, I also found it much harder at times to feel quite as much sympathy for him, especially once he found out the full story.

From the start of their enemies with benefits relationship, Kenji's made things transactional as a defense mechanism, because he'd assumed Landry was a wastrel, a playboy, and he'd had plenty of what he thought was evidence to support that viewpoint.

It made perfect sense to me that he felt hurt, that he was annoyed Landry hadn't confided in him, but I also then very much appreciated - because he'd been protecting himself, again, completely understandable - when he realised he'd never really given him the chance to either.

Seeing them navigating their way through the insane situation they end up in is an exercise in how to write two men coming to terms with massive changes and making it feel not only believable, but also inevitable.

Kenji's been protecting his heart from a man he knew could have permanently broken it, while Landry's been in love with the Brotherhood's personal assistant from the start but living a fake life with lies of omission that he knows will be a devastating breach of trust for all his friends.

This narrative is a rollercoaster of emotions, the sexual chemistry between them has been obvious throughout the series and it's off the charts hot here too.

There's also loads of wonderful new characters to root for and fall in love with, Landry's dad Ed and his cousin Cora, and especially Nan, the woman who's been their family's rock for decades.

There's hurt and comfort, plenty of action and a lot of acceptance, plus a joyous happy ever after.

Oh and the pining, soooo much delicious pining which I love to read, especially when you can see inside the heads of both people involved.

I might also have let out a wee squeal at the end when we find out what's happening with Sheriff Foster Blake!

My brain is not operating at the capacity it should be to write a proper review for this, so I'm not even going to bother 😅 All I will say is that I had been looking forward to this, and I was letdown. It was just okay. There was so much potential, but the execution was off. Honestly, I was bored. I don't think I'll be picking up books 2-4 after this since I don't even have interest in those. I have a feeling that Prince of Lies was the star of the series, and I'm only going to be further disappointed if I try to read the rest considering Kenji and Landry couldn't even do it for me 🥱

Sometimes, it’s good to keep your expectations low. I HATED the previous book. This one, I LOVED 🥰

I finished the review of the previous book on a very disappointed note, saying that I’m not sure if I’ll pick the next one up. Well, I’m happy to report that I DID pick it up, and I had a blast.

It’s the long awaited book about Landry the supermodel and Kenji the super smart, super effective assistant. They’ve been secretly hooking up for years, but while Landry wanted to make it official for quite a while now, Kenji isn’t a fan of that. He’s bent upon keeping his heart safe and Landry at arms length, and decides to set off on a 4 week long mindfulness retreat. Said retreat is cut short when all the hotel guests are taken hostage by a rebel group, and Landry decides to get Kenji out, no matter the cost.

Turns out, one of the “costs” is pretending that he and Kenjj are engaged/married.

And because Landry is an English Lord, as you might guess from the title and the blurb, things quickly turn into something akin to the Princess Bride. While plotlines like these usually annoy me (they’re usually written for American readers, so everything European/English is stuffy and backwards), I was pleasantly surprised here. Yes, there’s a bit of British stereotyping going on, but in a quirky way. I still don’t see everyone in the Earls household happily sipping coffee from Starbucks (coffee?????? And Starbucks of all places???), but hey, nobody said the book’s perfect.

It’s a fun last installment to the Billionaires series, and well narrated by Michael Dean, even though I switched to reading after a while.

4 well earned stars - mainly because it made me smile a lot.

I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would, which is really surprising considering how much I dislike nobility, royalty and politicians in romance books! I usually find those characters instantly unlikeable and unrelatable, but Landry and his family were actually pretty fun.

I do wish we'd seen more of the start of Kenji and Landry's romance though. It felt a little like having missed out on seeing them begin their story. I did enjoy the drama and the chemistry between them though. I also struggled to feel emotionally connected to either character because we don't see them falling in love, we're told it's already happened, but that's my favourite part of a romance!

This was a nice way to end the series though, and I'm extremely curious for Foster's book - especially because I cannot remember who Tommy Marian is and I've read all of Lucy Lennox's books 😂😂 I'm assuming it's the next generation of Marian men?

You guys! I really liked this 🥹 Honestly when I read the blurb I was sure I was going to hate it, but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

I don’t want to get spoilery, so I’ll just make some general comments 😌

- As the blurb says, Kenji and Landry are “enemies-with-benefits.” I really don’t like stories where the MCs are already sleeping together from the start of the book, but honestly this worked really well for their story, which takes me to my next point…

- THE PINING AND LONGING WAS SO GOOD. No shade to Lucy, but her books are very formulaic romcom with no real angst and 100% insta-love. I loved that while there was love, there was no instalove here. The unrequited feelings, the desire, the fact that it took a good long minute to get there was very satisfying to read. It also made sense in the story that it would not be a sudden turn to happy and in love. Like yes make them earn it!

- Landry was an amazing MC and my favorite of the brotherhood. He was so warm and kind, and wore his heart on his sleeve. Did I mention the pining?

- Kenji was great too! I liked that he was a little mean and had barricades upon barricades around him 😂 It made things interesting, deepened the pining, and never was so over the line it lessened their ultimate connection.

- I love a good fake relationship/fake marriage trope, but thought it would be too OTT for their story. Luckily it’s done well and no one important in their lives was being lied to which helped minimize it.

- Landry’s secret identity and Kenji’s dangerous situation fit well enough into the story. Sure it was silly, but it was fun too.

- THANK GOD there was no “I’m a billionaire” secret looming until the end in this book 🙌🏼 in fact, it was a relief no secret loomed until the end because that was getting old lol

- The supporting characters were all A++

- I swooned a lot 🫶🏼

Overall this was a lot of fun and worth the wait 🥹

Will I recover from this series ending? No, no, I will not. But life will go on, and I will continue to shamelessly recommend The Billionaire Brotherhood books to all and sundry.

I FUCKING LOVED THIS BOOK.
😭😭😭😭😭😭 so much.

FINDING LORD LANDRY was such a good story. The plot was plotting. There were storylines and secrets and a few spicy scenes, too. But Landry Effing Davencourt can GET IT. For real.

I loved Kenji. I loved what kick-started this entire book. I loved how down bad Landry was from the get-go. I loved everything that happened in England. I loved seeing the brotherhood. I loved Ed and Nan and Cora and Baa Baa. I loved how scared Kenji was of opening up his heart. I loved how Landry loved.

I LOVED EVERYTHING.
ALL OF IT.
NINE HUNDRED AND EIGHTYFOUR DAYS.

I literally wanna run in a field and tell everyone how much I loved this story. The hills are alive with how much I loved Kenji and Landry.

And the secret at the end!

But now the series is over, and I'm devastated. I'll just have to reread them all the time.

I can't recommend this series enough. Books one through four are available now to read and book five, FINDING LORD LANDRY is out Tuesday.

Your honor, and Lucy Lennox, I loved these books. How else can I express that? I loved them.

What the hell was this book? Who were these characters? Because they weren’t the same Kenji and Landry I’ve been reading about from the first 4 books. Kenji was an insecure bitch for the most part and Landry was just ridiculous. Seriously this actually pisses me off because I was anticipating this one, couldn’t wait to read their story and it turned out to be new characters with the same names. I’m not going to even comment on the plot because it was fucking stupid.

I've been looking forward to Landry & Kenji finally getting their story and it was good. Not awesomesauce, but good. I don't necessarily buy that a viscount that is from such an influential family being able to hide his identity from the world for so long, but I was willing to suspend my disbelief there. And all in all I enjoyed the story and the series. I normally drive right on by books with billionaire MCs but I like this author and her stories are generally entertaining.

That said, I would not cry one single tear if the 'billionaire MC' went the way of the dodo. They've been way overdone and, honestly, billionaires are a lot of what's wrong with our world (and definitely my country) and I really wish we wouldn't idolize them in books like we do. Even the 'nice-guy' billionaires in this series use their wealth to do end run-arounds everyone else to get what they want and are private-jetting everywhere, environment be dammed. Yes, I know it's fiction, but considering real-life billionaires do the same... Ok, mini-rant over. For now, anyway. I'll save it for the protests.

I guess I didn’t appreciate this hook as much as everyone else seemed to.
I’d been really looking forward to Kenji & Landry’s story. But this book starts with them having already basically been together the past three years. I would rather the book have started three years earlier and we get that story. Instead of this three year time jump and the big plot about politics I didn’t really enjoy. Especially because I still have no clue what a earl or viscount or house of lords even is.
Also, call me crazy, but maybe people should just talk to each other and be honest with their feelings from the start.

Very difficult to read a book about billionaires in the current climate, especially when they use their wealth for special treatment for their nearest and dearest. Lucy Lennox manages to engage me in her books, but this one wasn’t as funny as the others in the series and dragged a little with much of the conflict coming from decisions not to communicate.

Ridiculous and OTT for the plotline. I just couldn't suspend my disbelief that much. I still like this author's writing style though, and it would've been 3 stars if not for the infuriating lack of communication. THE conversation that took place at the end of the book should've happened on page 1, and we spend the entire book just waiting for it.

I hate Kenji. The miscommunication of it all. And i hated how Kenji feels like a snob and how he acts like he is better than anybody. I dont understand how could Landry fall for him. I cant believe I gave this book a chance..It is true. This one is one-sided. Landry deserves better!!! SAVE LANDRY. Also, the sex scenes are so bland. Might as well remove that from this. All throughout I hated this book so much.

2 stars

I usually enjoy Lucy Lennox books because they are fluffy and low angst, so they're usually pleasant reads. I think this is the lowest that I have rated one of her books. But this one did not sit right with me on a whole bunch of levels. I had been looking forward to this couple, but it didn't deliver. I didn't enjoy it.

Kenji and Landry have known each other for 10 years, Kenji has worked as the assistant to the brotherhood which includes Landry since then. Landry has crushed on him for a long time but didn't make a move because Kenji was very disapproving of him. He acted out to get Kenji's attention and rile him up over the years. 3 years ago their tension resulted in a hookup, and that started a 3-year-long enemies with benefits relationship. Landry wanted to turn it into a real relationship, he kept asking Kenji out, trying to turn it into more, but Kenji would shoot him down and say he would never consider being in a relationship with someone like Landry. We don't see that history actually happening on page. The book starts with the present.

In the present, Landry is struggling because his father has Alzheimer's and it's expected that he comes home to London England and takes over from him as an Earl and MP, continuing the family Legacy. Landry has been keeping it a secret that he is a Viscount. Landry is fine with giving up his modeling, he was getting tired of it anyway. But he doesn't really want to be an Earl. So Landry has a secret life as a billionaire from the company he started with the brotherhood, he's living as a model, and he's also secretly rubbing elbows with Royals and the prime minister. Landry also is starting to give up hope that Kenji will ever be willing to be his boyfriend, so he's mentally preparing for this to end. Kenji goes off on vacation on a meditation retreat in a small country, which has an uprising while he's there. Kenji needs to be rescued from the uprising. In order to get help to complete the rescue of Kenji, Landry lies and tells the Prime Minister and others that Kenji is his fiance. And once he successfully rescues Kenji, in a fit of possessiveness, Kenji declares that he's already married to Landry. It's all ridiculously far-fetched.

I had been looking forward to this couple, because I love the dynamic of a secret relationship and enemies with benefits. But this book didn't let me enjoy that. It just ended up being the worst version of itself that it could be in so many ways.

It started off on a bad note by starting with Landry and Kenji being 3 years in to their sex only relationship. The author should have shown the characters getting together for the first time. There's a vulnerability then when they make their first moves and there's an explosion of chemistry then that is one of the biggest payoff moments in a relationship. I think it's a mistake to skip showing the characters getting together for the first time. It zaps away some of the tension between the characters when it's zoomed over. Even if you have to flash forward from their first time together to the present that's a preferable choice. It's like the author didn't show us any of their chemistry. They were just convenient sex outlets to each other, but with Landry pining.

The biggest sin was making Kenji unlikeable. The entire 3 years, Landry was vulnerable, faithful to Kenji, willing to jump through whatever hoops he made him, and repeatedly made moves to try to start a real relationship with Kenji. And Kenji shot him down each time, made comments about the kind of person Landry is, how far away from his ideal boyfriend he is, and how he could never be in a relationship with someone like Landry and it was just sex. Kenji treated Landry like a feelingless slab of meat who was only good for sex, kicking him out after he got off, even when Landry was tired and run ragged from his multiple obligations. I know when you see Kenji's POV, you see that he was afraid that Landry couldn't be what he needed in a relationship, and that Landry was keeping things from Kenji that would have changed his opinion. But to me, you can't undo the person that you were for 3 years and you treated your love interest like s*** for 3 years. I don't understand why Landry loves him. Sometimes a prickly character like Kenji can be endearing, but the author didn't achieve that with how she told the story. I feel like any of the moments that could have been good, where we could have seen a positive dynamic just weren't on page.

I wasn't a huge fan of the conflict of whether Landry would become an MP and Earl or not. At times it felt like he was completely ready for the job, would be good at it, and kind of wanted to do it in part, but at the same time he thought the job was boring and it just wasn't what he wanted. But then he didn't really talk about what he wanted to do instead. He's ended his career as a model, he doesn't seem to have to do much for the brotherhood day in and day out.

I didn't like that the characters kept miscommunicating, and then making over dramatic grand gestures. It was a lot of hyperbole. I couldn't really picture them living out their daily lives together in a normal relationship that works long-term. Overall, there just wasn't anything really positive for me to latch onto and like.

Some notable moments:

"The new housekeeper appeared around the corner from the main part of the house, wringing her hands. “Pardon me, my lord, but there’s a Mr. Jim Winthrop here to see you.” I glared at her. “Mrs. Ashcombe, we’ve talked about this. Will you please call me Landry?” Her eyes widened in a combination of shock and offense. “I apologize. I will certainly try to remember that… my lord.” Cora murmured under her breath. “Might as well ask her to pole dance for cash, Landry. Christ.”"

"I might have appreciated that Kenji was respecting my need for distance by sleeping on the sofa, but all it did was give me the opportunity to prove to both of us over and over how fucking weak I was by moving him to the bed. During the day, my self-control had reached masterful levels. But at night, I wasn’t able to sleep unless I was completely wrapped around him."

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

This was a hard one to rate because I loved both Kenji and Landry individually, and some parts of the book. I had also really been looking forward to their story and yet there was so much going on that it ended up feeling pretty disjointed at times and a bit of a hot mess.

Let me start off with the good stuff, which I really enjoyed. I love Kenji’s prickly, neurotic, type A, and yet “marshmallowy center” personality. And Landry is a charming, gorgeous model with an outward bad boy persona, but is really a sensitive, loyal friend and lover underneath it all. He is burdened by the weight of hiding a double life as a viscount with crushing responsibilities and duties. Kenji’s and Landry’s “enemies-with-benefits” chemistry is off the charts with steamy sex scenes. I loved their mutual pining while they acted as if they were in a mere situationship. The interactions between Kenji and Landry’s family, especially Landry’s father were also some of my favorites. All the moments with the Brotherhood and their partners were also heartwarming.

But let’s get on to my dislikes. The plot is clunky. A few mild spoilers: it begins with a mining conflict which leads to political unrest on a resort island where Kenji is attending a luxury retreat. The unrest quickly turns into martial law thus trapping him there. This necessitates Kenji’s rescue, which is when Landry outs himself as a viscount to leverage his influence and expedite Kenji’s rescue. This part of the plot with the mining conflict and resort takeover is abrupt, descriptive and comes across as awkward. Then it’s followed by a jarring transition to Kenji’s dramatic rescue where he is whisked off to Landry’s tradition-bound and glitzy life as an English peer. A fake engagement quickly escalates into a fake marriage. It’s enough action to induce whiplash. The miscommunication between Landry and Kenji who clearly love each other is aggravating. The way Kenji keeps turning away Landry who has been in love with him for years is frustrating as hell. Finally, this is not a dislike per se, but rather something I noticed that took me out of the story a couple of times. The juxtaposition of HR-like trappings and a contemporary setting felt somewhat odd. I think it was especially so because I read a lot of HR, as well as mm HR so it was strange to read a mishmash of all three genres. It was jarring to have Kenji jokingly refer to himself as both a viscountess and future countess because of obvious reasons, including the prohibition of same sex relationships in past eras.

However, I still enjoyed it and I’m glad I got to read Landry’s and Kenji’s happy-ever-after.

I liked this way more than I expected and actually stayed up late and finished it all in one go.

I loved Kenji and Landry’s characters so much. The angst and pining was fantastic and they had so much chemistry. I actually enjoyed the twist on the traditional romance relationship building here, which was surprising. I really felt like they were madly in love with each other and thoroughly enjoyed all their scenes together in the book.

Some downsides - there was a large portion in the second half of the book where the plot largely overtakes the romance and I honestly got antsy and bored. There was soooooooooo much going on here that a lot of plot threads just kinda blew away in the wind and that bothered me too. This was during a long, drawn out “miscommunication” that had me skimming to get through it eventually, so I could get back to the romance stuff.

I didn’t feel like the coat closet sex scene really fit their relationship and that kind of dragged me out of the story. The name dropping of previous and future characters was also diabolical. Exhausting.

However, Kenji (in my opinion) really lit up the page and I did adore him and Landry together immensely. When I think back on earlier scenes between them (I didn’t read book 3 and DNF’d book 4) and even the beginning of this book, I feel so happy they made their way to each other, even though I wish we’d seen more of it.

Lately, I am hoping to never read a book about billionaires again PLEASE authors. There’s no such thing as an ethical billionaire and putting away my utter disdain is difficult. Eat the rich!

This book has every bit of tension, anger, and conflict that Kenji & Landry’s story has been building toward since the beginning. Not to mention red hot chemistry and ALL the fireworks! In many ways, it’s the perfect ending to the Billionaire Brotherhood series, wrapping up loose ends and sending this amazing found family off with the HEA it deserves.

That being said, none of this went down as I’d expected. From Landry’s secrets to Kenji’s icy facade to the seemingly endless hate sex, I wasn’t even sure I recognized these guys at times. Based on previous books, I expected conflict. I even expected a little bit of denial. But I didn’t expect so much emotional whiplash or that I’d spend a solid 70% of the book wishing I could slap some sense into Kenji. Until now, I thought he was smart to guard his heart against falling for a fickle playboy, only to find his actions delivering cruel blow after blow to their budding relationship. These two were frustrating and terrible at communicating, and the hate to love vibe devolved to a point where I wasn’t sure whether they were punishing themselves or each other. If I didn’t already know they were so into each other, it might have been a dealbreaker.

That’s not to say it’s unenjoyable - there’s tons of introspection and personal growth. By the end, they’ve left no stone unturned in their journey to discover what they want from life. I feel as though I know Landry a lot better now, and it really sheds light on just how little we’ve gotten to see or know him to this point in the series. Overall, I just wish they had gotten out of their own way and started communicating a little sooner. Instead, readers are left to piece together gestures - some grander than others - in which actions speak louder than words and tell us everything we need to know about their feelings for one another. I love a grand gesture, but even I grew weary reading between the lines.

The end of this book teases a spinoff for everyone’s favorite small town sheriff, Foster. His love interest looks like he’ll bring things full circle in Lucy Lennox’s larger universe, and I’m excited to see where it goes.

Don’t have much to say about this one …Was it entertaining? Kinda. Did I read the whole book? Absolutely.
But did it give me the flutter in my chest or make me squirm? Nope.
Will I remember this pair for days? Will I crave a reread? Nah.

The romance was just … Weird. These guys were hooking up for three years. Landry was putting in the effort, showing he wanted more, and Kenji kept cutting it short after every hookup—literally kicking him out of bed even when he was exhausted. And then Kenji had the nerve to turn around and say, “How come you never told me about your past?” Hello? You kept it strictly physical. Why would he bare his soul when you never gave him a chance?

Honestly, if we had been shown those three years on-page, I would have hated Kenji. From the glimpses I saw, I already disliked how cold he was. Three years this man stayed monogamous, wanting more every single time, and you kicked him out after sex. Then your heart breaks because he hid his identity from you? No. You never earned that position of big trust.

Landry, on the other hand—supermodel, billionaire, sexy, hot, ( A viscount) and genuinely wanting something deeper. And what does Kenji do? Wait until after three years to suddenly decide, Hmm, maybe I feel something now. Sorry, too little too late.

Landry goes through hell to save him from a hostage situation, and in the process his secret comes out and what Kenji does? He shuts him down because of it? Come on the guy wants to explain how about just listen to him?!?

Ugh. Talking about it now, I’m dropping the rating. I started at 4 stars, but nope. 3.5 stars because it was entertaining but romance-wise? Didn’t work for me. Kenji killed it.

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)
Sexy Scene Frequency: 🍑🍑
Sexy Scene Heat Level: 🌶️🌶️
Landry: 💙💙💙💙 (my lord, you can do better)
Kenji: 💙💙 (earned nothing from me)
Angst Level: 💔

I didn’t hate the book, but I didn’t feel the love. Engaging read, but romance was three years too late for me.

Finding Lord Landry is the fifth book in Lucy Lennox’s Billionaire Brotherhood series and I think this one is my favorite. Landry and Kenji’s relationship has been teased throughout the series, and as readers, it has been pretty clear something was going on with them that the other guys weren’t aware of. In this story, we finally get to see what has been happening with them behind the scenes. As with the rest of the series, the individual relationship stands alone, but the men appear in each other’s books and you will miss some backstory on the other characters and their relationship dynamics if you start here. That said, I think new readers can make this one work if desired.

I really loved the “enemies who are really totally in love” vibe between Landry and Kenji. Well, Landry is clear that he is into Kenji, but Kenji is afraid to trust Landry with his heart and so he is trying to keep emotional distance.

So, here's the thing. I don't really like Kenji. He's the snob. Pride and Prejudice all over again. Landry had some very serious secrets and for very serious reasons.
He went and saved Kenji and yet he's treating him like sh*t and won't even let him state his case. A lot of pent up baggage that boy has.
The story progressed with low key angst and a few jelly moments that escalated into fake marriage. I'm glad Kenji figured out all his mistakes because Landry was a freaking angel.
The story was a little messy with many ideas randomly thrown in but it was a good time reading.
The actual resolution was a let down for me. I needed it to be sharper, here it felt anticlimactic. There was no true moment of "I'm sorry" and revelations, they were more spaced out in the book and lost the impact they should have had. Landry had made a few really deep gestures (the ring, the December (dating) proposal, saving Kenji, constantly putting Kenji first) and yet everything sort of got lost in Kenji 'realizing' things but they never really get talked about.

I liked the previous books very much and was looking forward to the last installment - what a disappointment. There was no elaborate plotline, some random ideas were thrown together and there were seveveral inconsistencies which irked me throughout the story. There was no banter, nothing funny just a lot of inner monologue about being unsure, untruthful and a lot of sex.
- a yoga retreat in a high-end-resort in a third-world-country inhabited not only by the yoga-participants but also by tourists - really??? you either practise yoga or you are on vacation;
- Landon's father resigning from his earldom, not possible; as long as he is alive he is the earl, he can only tranfer the management of the estate to his son;
- Landon cannot become a MP = member of parliament, those are elected in national election by the British people; it was wrong wording from the author, as an earl he can be elected by his peers into the House of Lords in case a seat is vacant and then he is refered to as a peer and not as a MP;
-his cousin Cora is female and therefore can never become the successor, even Landon would need an male heir born in wedlock (didn't you read the latest gossip of the duke of Grosvenor? If his pregnant wife delivers a boy his succession is secured otherwise a distant 60 year old cousin now residing in Australia is the heir apparent).
Landon's and Kenji's characters were quite different from the first books, Kenji was insecure and Landon as well. The frequent hate fucking was boring.
The subplot with the hostage situation was lackluster as was the rescue (introducing Jamie for a new series?) and all the incidents with the press. There was no elaborate plotline like in the other books, but new characters were introduced for a spin-off series.

Landry and Kenji’s story was everything I wanted and more! This was my favorite book in the series. I loved seeing them finally drop the miscommunication, talk about what they truly wanted, and come together. Their dynamic was frustating as well as satisfying to watch unfold. Lucy Lennox delivered a charming, heartfelt, and entertaining read once again!

I absolutely smashed this book in one day. I've been looking forward to Landry and Kenji's story for a while; so intrigued by the hints that were dropped in previous books. I expected to love Kenji, but I was so surprised when Landry was the character that really drew me in! Being inside his head and getting to learn more about him was much more emotional than I expected and I found myself feeling so connected and empathetic towards him. I wanted to fight anyone who made him feel bad (Zane and Ryan - I'm looking at you 👀). Of course, I still loved Kenji's character and I felt like they were such a good match. They deserve a happy ending 💕

Thank you to Lucy Lennox and Give Me Books for the gifted digital ARC of this book. This is my honest review.

Characters: Kenji and Landry

I have loved both characters through the entire series and couldn't wait for their story. Honestly, this was even better than I expected. I knew there was much more to Landry than what we were getting previously. I absolutely adore him! And Kenji has been the glue that held the entire team together from the first book, so I was so happy to finally see him get his HEA.

Glad that I liked this one way much better than the previous story about Zane. A little bit dragging in the middle, but I enjoyed Landry and Kenji.
Can't wait for Foster's story!
