Aspen Jordan’s career is at a crossroads after the hit teen drama series she’s spent the past seven years starring in has ended. Luckily, Aspen lands the lead role in a prestigious romance film. Unluckily, her co-star is Grey Aldridge. He’s a two-time Sexiest Man Alive winner, eight years her senior, and ridiculously easy on the eyes. But his extreme cockiness and devil-may-care attitude rub Aspen the wrong way.
From day one, Aspen and Grey can’t stand each other—and it’s only a matter of time before one of their tense, fiery arguments makes headlines. The studio steps in with a fake a romance, convince the public they’re in love, and save the film from disaster.
What starts as a begrudging PR stunt slowly transforms into something neither of them expects. As Aspen starts to see the man behind the tabloid persona, and Grey discovers the vulnerability behind Aspen’s polished exterior, their fake relationship begins to feel unnervingly real.
The line between acting and true emotion begins to blur, and soon, not even Aspen and Grey can tell where their performance ends and their true feelings begin. But with everything at stake, is what they have just another scene in the script—or the start of something far more authentic?
Lilah Morris is a fresh voice in the contemporary romance arena, bringing a vibrant and original perspective to the genre. She specializes in new adult, celebrity romances with low angst and lots of banter. She's a recent college graduate and is now back home in the American south, pursuing her dreams of becoming a full-time romance author. Strike a Pose is her first novel!
After reading the first book last year, I’ve been eager to dive into Aspen's story! This book is just as sweet and cozy as the first one, and I loved it. The chemistry between Grey and Aspen is off the charts right from the start. Their playful bickering is so much fun, and the fake dates added to the excitement!
Grey and Aspen are set to film a romantic comedy together. When Aspen tries to be nice and invites him for coffee, he shuts her down rudely, leading to her disliking him. Things get even more interesting when a video of their argument goes viral, and everyone thinks they can’t stand each other. To turn things around and keep the movie on track, they decide to fake a date to show everyone that they’re a good match. As they spend time together, what starts as fake begins to feel all too real!
Aspen is such a sweetheart—she’s kind and has a big heart, but she also battles some insecurities about her career. Grey, on the other hand, is this two-time winner of the Sexiest Man title; he’s confident, a bit grumpy, and not too keen on opening up, especially with his female co-stars. They have such different personalities, but somehow they balance each other out perfectly! I enjoyed how their romantic relationship developed slowly throughout the story. Watching them spend time together and fall for each other was heartwarming. One of my favorite moments was when Grey confessed his love to Aspen—it was both hilarious and incredibly sweet!
Overall, this book is light, simple, and cozy, with adorable romance. While there aren’t too many spicy scenes, the chemistry is still sizzling. If you’re looking for a delightful palate cleanser, this book is the perfect choice!
This was so cute! It was a refreshing, fun, sweet read that was also surprisingly quite spicy! It was packed with humour, fast-paced, was low on drama and angst, & is an all round feel-good book when you need a palate cleanser or something quick & fun.
Aspen is your girl-next-door type of fmc. She’s super sweet, kind, generous, & responsible. Grey is cocky, cold, aloof, & a little grumpy. Their opposite personalities worked well & they were always much more fun when they were together.
The instant animosity between them was addictive. The tension was so hot & when it finally reached its peak it was delicious🤭 I loved all the banter, sassy remarks, quick wit, & sarcasm that these two threw at one another. It was so entertaining! Bonus points for no third act breakup or unnecessary drama🙏🏼
𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: fake dating, age gap, co stars, celebrity romance, workplace romance
I was hooked from the get go and couldn’t put it down. I absolutely loved the tension in this book; Aspen and Grey had the best relationship. There is age-gap and opposites attract, but it was written so well and was woven in seamlessly. I am also a big fan of fake dating and this was done so well.
This book is the second in an interconnected standalone and is such an amazing series, definitely one I recommend.
Aspen was a funny, sweet, and kind character, and though her family is basically royalty in Hollywood, she never uses that to flex power over anyone. The way she genuinely cared about interacting with everyone around her, working for her, on the set, during the dates, or her fans drives this point home. She's dealing with anxiety over the uncertainty over both her personal and professional life. The insecurities over where her career will go next along with the fears she had for her mom's ongoing battle with cancer.
Grey was initially a bit grumpy, cocky, and closed off and had a difficult time opening up to anyone. After his last relationship with a co-star went sideways, he decided to keep his distance from Aspen right from the start. And though it seems like he has everything he wants with his popularity and being sexiest man alive twice, he also deals with issues of his own when it comes to Hollywood, how people view him, treat him, and the stereotypes set with what he can do.
I like the focus on mental health, how it can be misconstrued when it comes to celebrities who are under so much scrutiny to always be on their best behavior and don't have much room for making any mistakes. Aspen wasn't shy about talking about her struggles with her mental health with Grey. Similarly, Grey had different but equally valid experiences in Hollywood that were so often disregarded because he was a man.
This was a sweet, refreshing, cozy, but also spicy read, where the characters make you feel all warm and happy. I love that there's no third-act breakup. Both Grey and Aspen didn't leave room for any misunderstandings. The way Grey hurried to reach Aspen to convey his true feelings was just adorable and funny.
What starts off as a fake dating agreement in order to do damage control quickly turns into Grey and Aspen developing very real feelings. I loved the way they slowly opened up and always supported each other. The banter between them was hilarious from the start, and I also loved the way they both put each other out of their comfort zones. Both of them were so considerate of each other's feelings, always paying close attention to confirm everything was okay. These two had so much fun planning their "fake dates," with them picking turns with each date.
The spice was really good and didn't take the focus away from the plot or the budding relationship between Grey and Aspen. Moreover, it just added to their banter and fun, which I really enjoyed. Grey definitely had a filthy mouth that I highly appreciated.
The side characters were really fun, especially Julie and Piers. Their relationship with Grey was really sweet and funny. That brownie scene had me laughing so much. Aspen's relationship with both her sisters was different but sweet in their own way, and they were just so supportive and open with each other.
Thank you, Lilah Morris, for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I had the pleasure of reading this book as an ARC read for Ms. Morris.
This book was an absolute delight. It's funny and filled with romantic tension. Aspen and Gray are characters that you easily fall in love with.
This is my first celebrity actor book to read, and I love how both characters didn't let fame go to their head. Aspen especially tries to stay grounded and give back to people. The scene where she buys all that yarn at the craft fair was funny and touching to me. It was touching because I felt like it exemplified her as a supporter of small businesses. It shows that she recognizes not everyone has the fame and money that she has through her family and her own skills.
This was such a sweet romantic HEA ending book. I highly recommend it.

Live, Laugh, Love Blame It on Fame Series! As expected, the second book was as good as the first one! Author Lilah Morris has done it once again!
Initial thoughts, I was really excited for Aspen's story because as a very anxious person, it's really nice to read books with main characters who you could relate to. And as for Grey, I don't know why but he gives off a Leonardo DeCapri vibe (but in a good way) based on the first time I read the blurb.
After reading it, I couldn't help but think that Aspen and Grey were perfect for each other!! They balance each other out! Aspen being the sweet and shy girl, while Grey is the idgaf guy! I also really love how Grey handles or more like avoids to worsen Aspen's anxiety. Grey really is perfect for her.
As for the writing, it's very easy to read and I love love love the short chapters!! PLUS THE BANTER!! OMG! Grey was such a fun character!! He's def my favorite in this book. And the ending was just absolutely perfect for them!!
Another thing that made me enjoy this even more was reading about how Willow and Riley's relationship after the first book ended! 💗
If I were to compare it with the first book, I'd say that both were equally good but I like the this one more!! And this one's def spicier (plus points for that)
Overall, this is such sa fun and good read! I'd recommend it if you're looking for a sweet and easy romcom read.
Also, thank you Author Lilah Morris for granting me another ARC of your book!! Working with you was soo fun! 💗
Lilah Morris, you are just the gift that keeps on giving. Yet again, impeccable work!
Some authors might struggle to follow up such a well rounded debut. Lilah tackled the task with all the wit and savvy of a veteran, and I continue to be amazed at her command of the romance genre. Aspen and Grey are a true delight to read about, and I found myself invested in their journey from the first (tumultuous!) interaction.
Needless to say, the supporting cast is well developed and highly entertaining. Phaedra is every girl’s dream bestie, but the real star of the show is Brock. Lilah - give us a book about Brock’s whirlwind romance with his wife! You have to know it’s what the readers want. Furthermore, I refuse to be teased with Vegas hijinks and then blue balled.
“What is it?” she chokes out. “You two need to date.” “I’m twenty-one, you asshole, and my palate is perfectly developed. But no wonder I seem young to you. You’re how old again? Forty?” “Ha-ha,” I say blankly. “Twenty-nine.” “No shit, really?” “Don’t act so surprised, Jordan. It’s insulting.” “I thought you were older. Not forty, but early thirties for sure.” “I guess the stress of working with you is starting to show.” “You don’t have an old face, it’s more of an old aura.” “Spoken like a true Angeleno.” She furrows her brow. “I’m from New York.” “No way.” “ Yes way. Look it up.” “I think that was your third question in a row, Grey. Be careful, I might start to think you’re actually interested.” “I am interested.” “I’m not growing on you yet, Jordan?” I reply. “Maybe like a fungus.” “How sweet of you, darling.” “Acting is tough too,” my mom answers after the waiter leaves. “But it helps when you have good costars to work with.” “Subtle, honey.” A smile tugs on the corners of my dad’s mouth. Twenty-five years later and they’re still as disgustingly in love as they were the day they were married, if not more so. “Order anything you want, darling, it’s on me,” I tell Aspen loudly enough for the woman to hear “In that case, I’ll have one of everything,” Aspen bites back. “Excuse me? One of everything?” the voice crackles through the intercom. “Oh!” Aspen gasps. “Sorry, no. I was just joking. My boyfriend, he’s being dramatic. Bless him, but he hardly has two cents to rub together. Much less enough for the entire menu.” “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” “I kind of have,” she replies. “Number twenty-three, Hudson Thorne, I used to date him.” “You did?” “Yeah, years ago. We met through mutual friends when I was eighteen and he was nineteen, playing for UCLA at the time. We only dated for four or five months, but I remember thinking we were going to get married one day. I even lost my virginity to him.” “Oh,” I say, suddenly conscious of the blood flowing through my veins. Aspen laughs. “Yeah, it was ridiculous. Looking back. “He’s certainly in LA,” I grumble, looking at the little speck on the field labeled 23. He may be a professional athlete, but I could definitely kick his ass. Aspen turns her head to look at me. “What? Forget I said anything, baby,” she says, playfully emphasizing the last word. “You’re the only one I want now.” I’m fine to stand here for hours staring into her eyes. They’re so tranquil, like two windows into an alpine lake. How have I never noticed that before? Aspen doesn’t just have blue eyes—she has blue eyes, like the kind people write songs about. She doesn’t bother hiding hers. “I was just doing my part to keep your ego in check.” “Lord knows it needs it,” I agrree. “I’ll help you anyway because I’m a gentleman.” That makes me laugh. “Grey Aldridge, a gentleman?” He gives a tiny shrug, still bending over to talk into my ear. “I can be when I want to be. Now turn and walk away from them, with your back to me. I’ll walk a step or two behind you to block their view.” “In other words, you’ll be the one staring at my ass instead of them.” “You saw my dick. It’s only fair.” “Grey!” “You did. Now get going, Jordan, or we’re going to be late.” “Grey,” I whine. “Please.” “Please what, baby?” he coaxes, adding a little more pressure to my clit. “You’re such a good little slut for me, aren’t you? You don’t even need my cock. You’re so greedy, you’ll come for just my fingers, won’t you?” “Go on, Aspen. Be a good little slut and come on my fingers, I want to feel that tight little pussy clench for me.” “Thanks, Daddy.” I figure that’s probably his kryptonite, judging by all the “good girl” dirty talk that spewed from his mouth. “Aspen,” he groans. “What am I going to do with you?” “Well, for starters, you can let me get you off. You can’t seriously walk out of this trailer with a tent in your pants.” “Of course, Aspen, my queen, the most beautiful woman on the planet, goddess of sexuality and desire, a modern-day Venus, I’d be honored if you’d suck me off.” “Good thing I’m a great actress,” I say, moving my head an inch or so closer to his, looking again at his lips, this time just for fun. “Good thing,” he echoes, leaning his head in as well. “Now, be a good fake girlfriend and kiss me.” She rolls her eyes. “Aren’t you going to kiss your fake girlfriend good night?” “Oh,” I respond, completely taken aback. But I only hesitate for a heartbeat. “Fuck yeah.” Then I close the distance between us, wrapping an arm around her waist as I pull her close and kiss her, dipping her in the process. And, goddammit, I can’t wipe the smile from my face until I’m halfway back home. Finally, I manage, “What are you trying to say?” “That I’m in love with you, Aspen. Only you. And I think I have been for a while—longer than I care to admit. And I hid it, ignored it, buried my head in the sand because I thought there was no way you felt the same for me. But then I realized that maybe there is the smallest chance that you do feel the same and was trying to ignore it like I have been. So I’m here to tell you—I need to tell you—that I’m in love with you. This isn’t fake for me, and hasn’t been for a long time. And it’s okay if you don’t feel the same. I don’t want to make things awkward, but I just had to say it. Because if I didn’t, I knew I’d—” I interrupt him by launching myself across the hot tub to him, my lips landing on his as I intertwine by arms behind his neck. Grey kisses me back like I’m the air he needs to breathe, his arms wrapping around the small of my back and pulling me impossibly close to him. His rough stubble perfectly contrasts his smooth lips, mixing rugged with sensual. I straddle him and he groans, slipping one hand down to squeeze my ass. After a few minutes, Grey pulls back slightly. “Just to clarify, this means you feel the same?” “Yes, you idiot. And you could’ve just asked to come over, you know.” A smile tugs at his lips, slightly swollen from kissing. “But this way was so much more fun.” “I just can’t believe you risked your bike for me,” I reply, returning to the couch and curling back into Grey’s side. “It could’ve gotten seriously damaged when it ran into my gate.” “I’d risk anything for you, Jordan.” “I think I’ll do what I want, when I want, darling,” he whispers a “You’re going to let me do all the work, like a good little slut. And if you make any sort of movement to help speed up the process, I’ll stop what I’m doing. Understand?” he asks, grazing my clit with pressure so light it's almost undetectable. “That’s my good little slut,” I hear Grey say as I slowly come back down to reality. “You look so pretty moaning my name as you come for me.” “How do you expect to get what you want without asking nicely?” he asks, his voice low and gravely against my ear. I swallow. “Please. Fuck me.” “Only because you asked so nicely, darling,” he replies, slapping my ass hard enough to tingle slightly, turning me on even more, if that’s even possible. “Do I need a condom?” “You’re too hot to fuck from behind,” he says after a few more seconds, flipping me around onto my back without missing a beat. I make a quick mental note to thank Brock for the ease with which Grey’s throwing me around. “I can’t believe I finally get to fuck you, pretty girl,” he whispers into my ear. “I’ve been thinking about this for months. Fucking that uptight cunt of yours until you’re an absolute mess beneath me. Writhing around and moaning my name like you are now. Such a good girl.” “As far as floor waffles go, these are five stars, babe.” “Only the best for you,” he answers. THIS BOOK WAS SOO CUTE😩🥺🥺🥺❤️ Grey & Aspen were everything!!! I loved it so much!!!!

Celebrity romance, dual pov, co-stars, fair dating, age gap, spicy, a motorcycle chase, respectful man, anxiety and panic attacks
I read a majority of this book in one day. I have been absolutely honored to have arc read for both this authors books, and they are so good! While this author is writing a romance book, she is also making the characters relatable. They are going through panic attacks, trying to resume having a normal life while on medication, and struggling with things happening to those they love.
Oh Grey Aldridge, the idiot you are. I absolutely loved reading Greys point of view. I loved when he had his moment of realization that he loved Willow, I too would stress eat a pan of brownies if I realized I was in love with someone im supposed to be fake dating.
This is just going to be me being picky. Something that I do wish with Aspens story was more on her experience with anxiety medication. As someone who has been on anxiety medication, it isn't the best feeling. For me, I became numb to everything, and while I know she has already gotten her medication and dosage sorted before the start of the story, hearing her talk about it would've been nice.
Thank you to the author for an early read of this book. All thoughts are my own, I do not accept money for reviews.
I absolutely love this!! The leads were fun yet had real depth, making their journey so engaging.
I love how their romance wasn’t rushed, allowing their relationship to develop naturally and authentically. The slow build made every interaction feel meaningful, and the chemistry between them grew in a way that felt genuine rather than forced.
The author has a true talent for crafting stories that feel fresh and light without being oversimplified. I love how she seamlessly weaves in sensitive themes, emphasizing mental health and setting boundaries, all without overwhelming the reader with heavy emotions.
As the second book in a debut series, I applaud the author for making this novel stand out from its predecessor. That’s no small feat, especially within the celebrity romance genre.
This should be made into a movie. A sure perfect rom-com for a chick flicks night 🤍💚
Thank you, Lilah Morris for the ARC. I can’t wait what’s in store for the next book.
Disclaimer: This is an ARC review. This was given to me for free in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one! It was so cute, fun, and had just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. The story kept me entertained, so much so that I had to force myself to go to bed, lol! Aspen and Grey were perfect! Aspen was sweet and down-to-earth, while Grey was somewhat of a grump, lol. Their chemistry was electric, and I couldn’t get enough of their back-and-forth… I live for the banter!! The tension built up so well, and the payoff was totally worth it. I loved that there wasn’t any unnecessary drama just pure vibes!!!The fake dating and age-gap dynamic worked so well here, and it all felt natural. The whole book flowed so smoothly, and the side characters added a lot of fun to the story. If you love opposites attract or celebrity romance, READ THIS! Lilah, I want to read everything you write! Thank you so much for letting me reads your ARC’s.
The second book in this series & once again, I enjoyed myself so much!
I can’t begin to express how OVER THE MOON I was when reading the Pop Culture Podcast! These ladies bring the fire in between the chapters & I’m here for it!
The chemistry between Grey & Aspen is so palpable, I love it! It fuels me, it feeds me, but one way or another, I will forever be a Willow & Riley girly! 🙈🤍✨
I love how the different Jordan family members interact in the story as well. The whole family feeling & closeness really adds to the story & it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Already looking forward to the next installment, so Lilah? HURRY UP PLEASE GIRL, THE WAIT IS KILLING ME! 😂🤍
A super fun, fast-paced read. I sooo vibed with Aspen & Grey. It was great to revisit the characters from Blame It on Fame #1, but getting a deep-dive into Aspen and then adding Grey into the mix was really just what I needed! They were so cute together. The tension in their fake relationship was just right and the spice was suuuper fun! It never felt overindulgent, even in some of its wildest moments. Lilah knows how to write the spice! 😂 Grey was such a good MMC - he was the right kind of bad boy, one that's so easy to fall for. He had me hooked from his first scene really lol
The anxiety rep was really well done in this as well. It was handled with care and felt super realistic. And it was great to see a bit more of Maple's personality in this book too. I wish the Jordan sisters were real!
Some things did feel a bit repetitive between the two POVs and even within the same POV - even some repetition of stuff readers would definitely know/remember, like details of Aspen's family/medical stuff - that just made me compare it to Strike a Pose a bit. While I connected to this couple more, I think I connected with the overall writing and structure of book one more.
Definitely still a huge fan of this world. Celebrity romances are just so fun! Can't wait for BIOF #3!
first 5 star of the year!!!!! This reconciled me with the romance genre, i wanna be in love again after reading this wow!! Grey is one of my favorite male main characters, and Aspen was so funny. I thought their banter was unmatched and I deeply related to Aspen on some levels which made me root for her so much.
PS. Lilah if you’re reading this, this is some of your best writing, im so proud of you <3
I absolutely loved grey and aspen as characters and even more so together!!! I felt so seen in a character like aspen with how her anxiety was portrayed how it feels to be too in my head sometimes. I was just rooting for her the entire time. Grey is also a dream, I wish he were real. 😔
The banter?? Top notch honestly it had me giggling in my room they were so funny. 10/10 would recommend
this one ate, devoured and left absolutely zero crumbs!!
𝐚𝐫𝐜 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 🎬💐🪩🩰🍓
first things first: thank you, thank you, thank you lilah morris for thinking of me and allowing me to read this wonderful book before its publication date, it is the greatest honor and it means the world to me! i also had the privilege of receiving an ARC of the first book in this series, strike a pose, which i adored, so i was super excited to read this one, too!
i have to say that i definitely loved play the part even more than the first book 🥹 i read this one in 24 hours ignoring my responsibilities and work because i simply couldn’t put my kindle down! grey is literally THE perfect man (sorry riley, i have a thing for tall, dark and handsome i hope you understand) and him and aspen were just soooooo freaking adorable!!!
the writing is immaculate, there’s literally zero drama, the humor is impeccable and i just wish it was 200 pages longer 🫶🏻 play the part was and is everything it promised to be, meeting every single one of my expectations and making me kick my legs and giggle with every. single. interaction. i’m also super glad that there’s no miscommunication trope (thank god!!!)
i beg of you, PLEASE read this book (and the first one if you haven’t already) , it’s the cutest, softest, coziest story to ever exist!!! 💘
This book was so cute! This was a ARC I got and I’m so happy I did. I really enjoyed the plot and tropes. I liked reading about two famous main characters because I don’t think I have ever read a book with that storyline so it was really nice to read something new. I really liked Aspen and while I can’t truly relate to her because I’m not famous, but I feel like I would be like her is I was famous. She donates money, and crochets, likes her privacy, and enjoys reading. Grey was also so cute and he was so thoughtful and he actually had me laughing out loud multiple times. Overall I really liked this book and would definitely recommend!!
Aspen Jordan’s career takes a turn when she lands a lead role in a prestigious romance film—opposite Grey Aldridge, a cocky, two-time Sexiest Man Alive. Their fiery clashes threaten the movie, forcing the studio to stage a fake romance. What starts as a PR stunt soon feels real as Aspen sees beyond Grey’s persona, and he discovers her true self. As the lines blur between acting and reality, they must decide if their love is just part of the script—or something more.
This is such an interesting and funny enemies-to-lovers book! Aspen and Grey are entertaining from the very beginning, and I love their dynamic— the teasing, the bickering, and the tension that pulled me into the story. Both have their own struggles, flaws, and hidden vulnerabilities, making them the perfect opposites attract couple. It’s adorable how Grey was smitten from the start—of course, he falls first and he falls harder.
Their whole story feels like a movie plot, which is funny considering the one they’re actually filming. Their fake dates turned out so cute, even though they weren’t thrilled about them at first. As sweet as they were, the slow burn aspect was killing me! The book is easy to read, really well-written, and I love the short chapters- concise yet engaging. The dual pov is the perfect touch, making the story even more enjoyable!
If you love tension-filled romances, fake dating, and forced proximity, this book is a must-read. It weaves together a grumpy x sunshine dynamic, celebrity romance, and a slow-burn love story where opposites attract despite an age gap. While it's connected to the first book in the series, Blame It on the Fame, it can be read as a standalone without any confusion. Everything comes together seamlessly, making it a story I highly recommend!
Now, I’m off to wait for a book about Maple or Heena—I can't wait, and I really hope they both get their own stories in this series!
Thank you to BookSirens, to the author, Lilah Morris, for providing me with this e-copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a super cute and charming read! It's light, easy to get into, and perfect for when you want something fun and feel-good. The characters are lovable, the story flows effortlessly, and it left me with a smile on my face. I really enjoyed it!
I loved Lilah Morris’s debut, Strike a Pose, and I practically begged her to let me beta read for her second novel, Play the Part!!! If I may say, I think I liked PTP even more! 🥰🙈
We got glimpses of Aspen in SAP, but she really got a chance to shine as the FMC in this book. Her storyline and struggles are so relatable, especially to young women in their early 20s. Undergoing a shift in her career as well as tumultuous events in her personal life, Aspen navigated it all with grace!! I loved that despite her extreme anxiety, she really knows who she is. Her mental health issues certainly have influence over her decisions and actions, but ultimately, she does not let it rule her life. I loved her unabashed love of her hobbies and her cat, and her roommate relationship with Phaedra made me laugh (Opposites attract).
Speaking of opposites attract… I couldn’t get enough of Grey! He doesn’t exactly know how to read a room, but he definitely brightens every room he’s in. His sense of humor kept me giggling, and his family is hilarious too. Also… Brock??? I LOVED Brock. I would read spin offs about just Brock. The Grey and Brock scenes had me cracking up. Anyway…I also loved the depth of Grey’s character and the window it lent us into the phenomenon of sexual harassment of famous men. While sexual harassment of famous women is also obviously unacceptable, there is a stigma around male sexual harassment that prevents them from speaking out or standing up for themselves. Being named Sexiest Man Alive twice over does not entitle an audience (or colleagues) to a man’s body.
At first glance, Aspen and Grey are an unlikely couple. But they fit together so naturally, and they add to each other’s lives in a way that shatters any doubt of their love left over from their first impressions. The age gap never felt imposing, never implied an imbalanced power dynamic. The two leads surprised each other in many ways, and as a reader, I was surprised too. I don’t usually love the fake dating trope, as it just feels very overdone (aka I’ve read too many 🤣), but Lilah gave Aspen and Grey’s fake dating a new spin. It felt very new, and I was thrilled about that.
I adored this book!!! Lilah Morris is climbing up my favorite authors list, and I am so excited for the next iterations of the Blame it on Fame series. What a fun series!! I love to read about the rich and famous 🤣🤣 One note about this book was that the supporting cast were all individual and never really came other… I missed Riley’s band and Willow’s model friends lol. Hopefully they will be featured in future books???
Read if you love: 📽 Workplace romance 💍 Fake dating 👩❤️👨 Age gap 🎬 Celebrity romance
I had so much fun reading Play the Part! Lilah Morris absolutely nailed it again, and I think I might love this one just as much as Strike a Pose! From the very first page, I was hooked. And honestly, I couldn’t stop picturing Henry Cavill as Grey Aldridge, which made the entire experience even better! Morris just knows how to write the most charming, swoon-worthy romances that feel light and fun but still pack plenty of emotion.
I already liked Aspen from the first book, but this story made me adore her even more. She’s so layered and realistic, and I loved getting to see more of her personality shine. And Grey? From the moment he appeared, I was sold. He’s confident, charismatic, and the way he balances out Aspen’s energy is just perfect. The tension between them had me grinning like an idiot, and their chemistry? Absolutely off the charts. Every scene they shared felt so effortless and natural, making it impossible not to root for them!
The plot itself is simple and low on unnecessary drama, but that’s what made it work so well. Every moment served a purpose, whether it was developing their relationship or making me fall even more in love with the characters. The fake dating trope was executed so well, giving just the right amount of tension and anticipation without ever feeling forced. I also wasn’t expecting much spice, but let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised. Those moments were so well done, adding to the romance without overpowering the story.
The Hollywood setting was another highlight. The way Morris brought the glitz, glamour, and behind-the-scenes chaos of celebrity life to life made me feel like I was right there alongside Aspen and Grey. Every little detail, from the red carpet events to the media frenzy, added so much richness to the story.
If I had to nitpick, I just wish the falling action had a little more oomph. The resolution felt a bit too quick, and I wouldn’t have minded a few more emotional moments to really wrap things up. But honestly? That’s just me wanting more because I didn’t want the book to end!
Lilah Morris has completely won me over once again with this fun, charming, and completely addictive romance. If you love celebrity romances with amazing chemistry, perfect tension, and a fake dating trope that delivers, Play the Part is a must-read. I already know I’ll be thinking about Grey and Aspen for a long time. Highly recommend!🩷
I was lucky enough to get an early copy, and let me tell you, this book is pure fire.
From the very first page, I was absolutely hooked. The story dives right into Aspen's world, and you immediately feel for her. She's at a turning point, trying to navigate a new chapter in her career, and the pressure is on! Then, enter Grey Aldridge. Oh. My. God. He’s the kind of character that makes you fan yourself. He's gorgeous, successful, and knows it. Literally Mr. Sexiest Man Alive (TWICE), But underneath that charming exterior, there's a hint of something more, something that just begs to be uncovered.
The best thing about this book is the raw, undeniable chemistry between Aspen and Grey. Their initial animosity crackles with an intensity that practically jumps off the page. They bicker, they challenge each other, they get under each other's skin, and with every interaction, the tension ratchets up another notch. Seriously, the anticipation was almost unbearable! I found myself highlighting so many of their exchanges because the wit and the underlying pull were just that good. It was like watching a slow-motion explosion of feelings, and I was absolutely here for it.
The fake dating trope is one of my favorites, and Lilah Morris absolutely nailed it. Watching Aspen and Grey pretend to be in love for the sake of their movie was hilarious and heartwarming all at the same time. But what really got me was seeing how their fake personas slowly started to crumble, revealing the real people underneath. As they let their walls down with each other I felt my heart ache and swell all at once.
I was completely invested in their journey, rooting for them every step of the way. The way their relationship evolved felt so natural and earned. Lilah did a fantastic job of showing how their initial dislike slowly morphed into something much more profound.
Without giving too much away, let me just say that the moments of vulnerability and tenderness between Aspen and Grey had me completely melting. There were scenes that were so beautifully written, so emotionally charged, that I had to pause and just soak it all in.
I cannot recommend it enough! I can't wait for you all to experience this story for yourselves!
𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗦: Celebrity romance, enemies to lovers, age gap, fake dating, opposite attract
Aspen, the female main character, truly takes center stage in this story, and her journey is one that resonated deeply with me. She’s in her twenties, that chaotic and transformative time when life feels like it’s constantly in flux. Aspen is navigating major career shifts, grappling with personal challenges, and handling all the curveballs life seems determined to throw at her. What stood out to me most was how incredibly authentic she felt. She wasn’t this untouchable, perfect heroine—instead, she was raw and real, with all the messy emotions and tough decisions that come with growing up. Yet, despite the chaos, she held onto her passions, like her love for knitting, which added a relatable, comforting layer to her character.
Grey, the male lead, completely exceeded my expectations with his depth. The book tackled serious issues like male sexual harassment in the entertainment industry, shedding light on the stigma men face. It was refreshing to see a romance novel address these topics so thoughtfully. Grey’s story showed that even being named “Sexiest Man Alive” twice doesn’t exempt someone from exploitation, making him feel multidimensional and real.
Aspen and Grey as a couple? Absolute magic. On paper, they’re total opposites, but together, they’re perfection. Their chemistry practically sizzled, and their banter had me grinning like a fool. Lilah took the tired fake-dating trope, gave it a shot of espresso, and made it feel fresh and exciting. Even the age gap, which can sometimes feel awkward in romance, was handled so well it just worked effortlessly.
In the end, I completely fell in love with this book. Lilah Morris has firmly secured her spot on my list of favorite authors, and I’m eagerly counting down the days until the next book in the Blame It on Fame series drops. I’ll be waiting impatiently for the third installment, and honestly, I’m already hoping for a spin-off or two because this world and these characters are too good to leave behind!
Play the part by. Lilah Morris ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 “ I like that where I’m jaded, she’s open minded , where I’m impulsive, she’s thoughtful, and where I’m scattered, she’s focused!”
This is the second book to the blame it on fame series and who knew it would be even better than the first! I read Lilahs first book “Strike a Pose” last august and have been obsessed with this story world since. Not only her books but Lilah herself shines so brightly through her book whether it’s her kind Personality or her adoring humor and I eat it up every time! A little about this book… it’s amazing. The characters alone are worth the read, Aspen with her soft demeanor and easy kindness, while Grey has a wild spirit and care free personality. A thing I’ve enjoyed throughout both books is the constant love and comfort of family. Every time there’s any family issue or worry each person, Jordan or not is there for the other and it’s just so special!! The last book was friendly and sweet, “Play the Part” explores the same ideas while also being extremely different. Grey and Aspen have this constant tension and banter, that I absolutely LOVE! The book follows the two main characters while they’re filming a rom-com, where they have to fake date after being filmed arguing on set. The plot line is actually addicting and so very cute. Another thing I’ve always admired about these books is the way she has the ability to make me forget I’m reading. Countless times I would sit down to read, and hours later I’d come back to reality. I truly loved this book and would recommend to all my witty banter lovers, this one’s for you! 💚🎬 Thank you so much Lilah for this incredible arc! 🙏

"If I can make Aspen happy, even just for a minute here and there, I’ll consider myself a very successful man. I mean, that’s what success boils down to, after all. Brightening the lives of those around you, especially those who mean the most."
First of all, thank you sooo much Lilah Morris for the ARC!!💚 I couldn't put this book down! I was hooked from the very beginning that I even finished it in one day🤭 This is the first book I've read from her, and certainly won't be my last! I had so much fun reading this!!
The tension, the teasing, the BANTER? Absolute perfection. I loved every single second of it! This book also has my favorite trope combination, which is fake dating mixed with dislike to love!🙌 I'll eat it up everytime. I love Grey and Aspen so much. They're really perfect for each other! They just balance each other out. And Grey is just so HOT😮💨 I loveee him! And bonus that he's British, so just imagine the accent🤌
I actually haven't read Strike A Pose yet, but now I have to! That being said, this can still be read as a standalone. So if you haven't read the first book yet either, you can dive into this one without feeling lost.
HIGHLY recommend! If you're looking for a fun, fast-paced romance that will keep you smiling the entire time, this one’s for you!!😍 OUT NOW!

More Quotes: 📽 “if you want to drink, I promise I won’t let anything happen to you. If you fall or something, I’ll fall right beside you, harder even.” 💚 “Of course, Aspen, my queen, the most beautiful woman on the planet, goddess of sexuality and desire, a modern-day Venus, I’d be honored if you’d s*ck me off.” 😏 📽 “Now, be a good fake girlfriend and kiss me.” 💚 “I’d risk anything for you, Jordan.”
After a mental breakdown earlier in the year, Aspen Jordan is equally excited and scared to be cast as the lead in a new romance film by an acclaimed director. And her costar will be none other than current James Bond and 2-time sexiest man alive Grey Aldridge.
Unfortunately, he turns out to be an arsehole.
Grey has been burned before so vows to keep work and private life strictly separate. When Aspen asks if they can go out for coffee to get to know each other, he turns her down quite rudely. She doesn’t take it well.
The production company orders them to fake date, to avoid the film branded a dud before filming has even started.
You can see where this is going, right?
The story may be predictable, but it’s well written. Aspen and Grey, as well as the minor characters, are likeable, interesting and genuine. The writing makes you want to know more, to the point where you actually want to see the film they are filming!
I didn’t care for the spicy scenes though. They were fine as such, but the author uses words and language that to me is too crude, and therefore turns me off. That is a personal opinion, and I know other readers may not object to the word choice, but it made me skip these parts. The scene in the furniture store felt especially uncomfortable and out of character and the book could easily do without it. Spicy scenes should enhance a story, and not feel they are there for the sake of spicing up a book and attract certain readers, in my opinion.
Without them, it would still have been a good book, if not better.
Despite this, I enjoyed the book and would be happy to read others by the same author.
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the author for providing me with the opportunity to read her book in advance before of its official publication date.
My initial impression of this book is that I thoroughly enjoy short chapters. The author has a knack for crafting engaging scenes that are easy to read and follow the narrative’s flow effortlessly. It didn’t take me long to get into the story and connect with the characters, particularly the main characters.
Although I haven’t read the first book in the series, I assure you that my connection with the characters is genuine. Aspen, the female protagonist, possesses a captivating combination of sexiness and cuteness, especially when she’s with the male lead, Grey.
While the plot may follow a familiar trope of fake dating to lovers, I found the small banters between the characters and the life lessons they imparted to be enjoyable.
One aspect I would appreciate more in-depth information about is Grey’s decision to pursue acting. I believe knowing more about his background would enhance my admiration for him, as it would reveal his personality and make him seem even more enjoyable to be with.
Additionally, I commend the author for handling the challenges faced by Aspen’s family with sensitivity and authenticity. I believe she approached the subject matter with the right level of depth and emotional resonance.
Lastly, the spicy scenes in this book are well-written and not overly explicit. They effectively convey the characters’ emotions and intensify the romantic tension without causing discomfort.
