Hockey was her game plan until love changed the rules.
In the heart of Fairbanks, where temperatures drop to -66°F, a hockey star’s perfectly planned life is about to get checked by love. When hockey hotshot Sterling saves local artist Chloe from falling through the ice into the freezing waters of Chena Lake, neither expects the heat that ignites between them.
Sterling’s a star on the ice, but her life outside the rink is crashing. With her hockey scholarship hanging by a thread due to plummeting grades and a ‘‘player’’ reputation that’s become infamous in this small Alaskan town, she’s running out of chances to turn her game around.
Chloe isn’t interested in becoming another score on someone’s board or dating. But as the Northern Lights dance in the night skies of this small college town, these opposites find themselves drawn together in an unexpected second chance at love.
When hidden truths threaten to shatter their growing connection, Sterling must prove she is ready to trade her player status for something real, while Chloe must reveal her age and that the hockey coach is her ex-husband.
Can Sterling trade in her player status to win Chloe’s heart?
Can Chloe open up to love and reveal her hidden truths?

Lots of humour in this book of the series as Disco cougar meets Player. It wasn’t my favourite out of all them mostly because I found Sterling quite hard to like. Her bigheadedness and her ‘I love me who do you love?’ attitude was quite off putting. Also Chloe was often referred to as old yet she was only 29. There was a still a lot to like though. The term puck bunny is fantastic. Sterling grew on me as the book progressed and Chloe was lovely throughout. The description of the setting made it easy to picture and the lights made me yearn to be there with them
A quick start, and I’m not sure I was quite with the mains on their easy banter as quickly as they were. This is a shortish book so I don’t expect great depth of character or background but the writer has done a great job of establishing quickly enough, enough detail to flesh them both out a bit. One main, I went between liking and disliking. I disliked her cocky attitude but I think I was meant to and presumably as she falls for the other, I will fall for her. Well I kind of did but I fell for the whole novel more. Shorter books often leave me feeling short changed due to the book not having time to go in to a lot of detail. I certainly didn’t feel short changed. More a 3.5 so up to a 4
“Chloe will be around for a while, so the team better get on board with me dating her or I’ll show them how rough Canadians play.”
A sweet sapphic hockey romance.
It’s quick and fast paced and although they have their problems, it’s in dramatic and a good palette cleanser.
I did want more, another 50 pages or so, it is a quick read and I could’ve easily have devoured more.
Sterling was your typical young hockey player, but it made a change to see the female as the player. To see a woman that’s okay with sleeping around but not being called out for it. I liked how she matured as well, the story may have been short but through falling for Chloe she matured a lot. I also like the way she was the rescuer in the dynamic, the younger girl with everything in order helping out the older girl who’s a mess.
Chloe is sweet, she seems to love for everybody else but herself. I understand her resistance with not wanting to date another hockey player no matter how much Sterling tries. She does have a little bit of miscommunication, in order to protect herself she omits stuff. I wanted to scream at her for that.
All together a short and sweet, sapphic romance.
🌟🌟🌟🌟
“Right now, she’s a ten out of ten, and there’s no way this ends at only a study sesh.”
This story pulls you in! A female college hot shot hockey player and a female potter/professor/tutor - the player needs a tutor or she’ll lose her eligibility to play; the potter/professor/tutor agrees to help the player with her coursework. What follows gets interesting.
The two are very different personality wise. They each need to find something in their lives. They had no idea it might be each other.
The characters are intriguing, their stories are captivating. The outcome is inspiring!
It might appear to be a major sacrifice - but really it’s true love.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this novella going in. Sterling's cocky inner monologue had me rolling my eyes at the start. The story was full of flirtatious witty, banter, and comedic moments that kept me chuckling. Despite the short length, it felt like a fully developed and complete story. It had passion, a little angst, and a HEA. The conflict felt sincere, and the relationship was sweet. There were great descriptions of beautiful Alaskan scenery. The writing flowed well. I didn't catch any typos, and it was easy to follow along with the dialogue. I enjoyed Scoring Love more than I thought I would. I'll be checking out more in this series.
6.5/10 . Wasn’t really my type of book, even though I enjoy FF, hockey, mid-burn type of books. But Sterling.. lord have mercy. That little bitch really had me chocking myself while reading. What do you mean she lied?! She just didn’t tell you everything because you just met! But when you, without saying nothing, rejected Chloe, it was okay?! I really loved Chloe. She’s a girl everyone deserves in they’re lives🫶🏻
What's a better thing to do with a few hours than relax into a wonderful quick read? Not much that's for sure. Grab these Wilderness Rescue books and sit back warm and cozy while exploring Alaska and places colder than wherever you are. Immerse yourself in the ecstasy and foibles of new love...that turns out great.
Chole is out on the lake for a morning walk when her foot gets stuck in an ice fishing hole an idiot drilled in the path. Struggling to get out she’s rescued by a hockey player out for a morning skate. Thus begins a magnetic relationship between an ambitious hockey star and a pottery artist. Great sapphic romance.
I liked this story and the character development. The way we found out things about Chloe at the same time as Sterling did. It was easy to read and nice to see Sterling change from a cocky jock to a more mature person who sees more things in life as important apart from hockey. I do take offense to the fact that apparently the late twenties is seen as old 😉
