Kane kidnapped Page as well, in order to ensure Reagan is on her best behavior. With little hope that the Parkers will be able to find them, Reagan must face her kidnapper and his crazy mother alone. Despair sets in and then turns to desperation when Kane’s confusing behavior calls to some secret part of her. Ugh!! Why was Volume 1-3 so good, and then you get this?? Ugh!! I hate Kaine so bad! He is cray cray!! I thought this might happen all along. I had a super hard time reading this Volume because I don't understand Reagan at all. I felt like she cheated on Hendrix. I don't understand her emotions at all, or her attachment to a guy that shot her boyfriend and stole her boyfriends sister and stocked her. I really started hating her character by this Volume!
This is an interesting series. It has humour so things don't get too heavy but at the same time they do loose people and there is violence and killing.
The series is a long one and these main characters stories continue for 3 seasons. There is also a spin off series that deals with the sister later.
There is little intimacy. There is touching, hugging and a few kisses but no sex until much later in the last season. The main 2 characters have love interests but due to the nature of the start of the virus and the constant threat there are no intimate scenes until the end of season 3.
Each season ends on a HFN with an enemy thread running through the whole series. Each episode either ends as HFN with a goal set for the next or at times an immediate threat will run across several episodes. At the time I read these the whole series was on Amazon KU so it was possible to read one after the other or complete in a box set. If you start reading and want to get to a HEA you will need to read the entire 3 seasons. There is the immediate zombie threat which is constant but also the series deals with humanities reaction to survival. Often a bigger threat is the desire for power between the surviving groups and these at times use lack of resources and scientific experimentation to control the main threats. Later in the series there is a love triangle situation of sorts for the heroine. It's not exactly a love triangle but there is a dividing force between the main couple due to the interest from another man. There are no intimate details but there is a kissing scene with the other man, but at the time the main couple are not together. The characters are all very different, they have their flaws but they are college age so when they make mistakes and sometimes they are stupid ones I put it down to youth and although they have learnt survival through experience the threat is constant so it's not easy for them to be sensible all the time. There is a good bit of banter between the group and a great deal of humour. There are some serious issues dealt with too and the main human enemy threat is pretty evil.

This was a pure up and down volume. I felt more frustrated than ever before in a few of these episodes, and at the same time it contained my favourite episode of season 2 so far. The plot twists are beyond compare, and we had some great character introspection and truly heart wrenching moments. I appreciated that a few of these episodes were less formulaic, giving us something fresh to read. But on the other hand, I found myself starting to detach from our heroine....though that could be just my personal taste thing. So yeah. Total rollercoaster. I might take a break and come back to this season with fresher eyes.
Ok, here's the thing. I stumbled on this series by accident - happy accident. I mean, I LOVED it - and that's saying something. This one though? Nope. What the hell man? Reagan all of the sudden goes to the dark side?? It's completely out of character - not to mention Kane has got to be one of the creepiest characters yet. Yeah, I get it - redemption. Still. I don't think it was worked in the best way. Thankfully, I can tell you that once you get through this stupidness, the rest of the series goes back to being awesome. You have to deal with some fallout due to stupidness - but it does go back. Soldier on brave readers! Reagan fixes her shit eventually!
I love this series! I dare say it's my most favorite...
I've been reading through other reviews and think I might be crazy, but I really like the Hendrix/ Reagan/ Kane love triangle and find myself wanting Reagan to give into her feelings for Kane. Please tell me someone agrees with me?
The narrative is starting to get a bit repetitive. Can't tell the difference between the female characters when the author switches the first person narrator. I'm struggling to empathise with Reagan's decisions and her relationship with Hendrix is not wholly believable.
You know a book is action packed when you actually have to take notes to be able to remember everything that happened! I haven't taken notes on a book in a long while, but it's gotten to that point with this series!
This middle volume was insane!! *takes deep breath and opens volume 5*
so many emotions. this volume throws you in a spin cycle and just keeps throwing more of the characters dirty laundry at you in a good way.we learn so much more about kade and why he is how he is.the first cracks that began with Reagan and Hendrix way back become gigantic fissures through their hearts and mine I must say. also poor page (won't say more don't want to spoil it). Reagan is left adrift when we finish this volume and I don't know what sort of person she will become after all she went through this volume.but Tyler's pov- wow her and Vaughan smoked up my kindle and I want to see some of Vaughan's POV about what's developing between him and Tyler please Rachel.oh and some Hendrix POV also :)
Probably my favourite so far in the series! I loved every single moment that Kane and Reagan shared in the hunting cabin. I also loved how we gained a lot more insight into Kane's past and what made him the broken man that he is today. I really do believe he has the best intentions for Reagan but just doesn't know the proper way to show it because of his psycho parents. Honestly, I'm not that upset over the breakup between Hendrix and Reagan. I felt like he was being an ass to Reagan and didn't even try to see things from her POV after they rescued her. I'm also super excited to see how Tyler and Vaughan's relationship progresses! I can't wait to start reading Volume 5.

This series is still my 2nd favorite in all the post-apocalyptic genre I have read. Reagan is complicated to say the least and has issues, but who wouldn't in her world. I am hoping she will become better at her (lack of) communication, especially with Hendrix. I am also hoping that all this stuff with Kane will come to a close so we can all move on to improved relations and a possible virus stopping solution and all the drama that will surround that. Still exciting things in the future. I am in for the long haul.
I'm sad that I was disappointed in this one after waiting so long. SPOILER: I understand the desire for love triangles for drama aspects but there is absolutely no comparison between Hendrix and Kane and for there to be any question about it makes me mad. Never mind that Hendrix acts like a damn big baby and dumps her after all she went through then to accuse her of not loving Page enough. I cried with Reagan and I wanted to slap Hendrix silly!!! Tyler and Vaughn episode was kinda boring.
Gah! Would this lady please find a proofreader??? Waist and waste are NOT the same word!!! Despite those glaring flaws, the story is quite entertaining. She has a way of writing that captures real emotions.
while I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and the opportunity to know Kane and Linley better, Paige and other events. I was disappointed with the end of episode 7 and episode 8.
These are such good stories but if I, the grammar lax dislexic, can spot multiplen spelling and grammatical issues someone needs to proof read. It making me crazy.
I absolutely love this series. When the series continued this year I decided to start the whole series over from the beginning. But whoever was responsible for the proof reading/ editing did a crappy job. Words missing or misspelled, sentences in the wrong order. Sometimes I would have to reread something to try and make sense of what was written due to the errors. At times it was very irritating. The mistakes are so obvious that a simple proof read would have easily found them. As great as the story is I still found it annoyingly distracting to the read. Hey Rachel if you ever need a proof reader who's a quick reader I'm your girl. And even with the poor editing I'll still read your stories cause your men are so hot. Thanks for that.
