I fell madly in love with a nightmare.I thought I knew him. Wilder Carson—the man who chased me through high school, who promised me forever and the world. That was before I saw the texts and the photos that unraveled everything I believed. When my friends and I escaped to a remote cabin for some much-needed TLC, I thought I was leaving the chaos behind. I was wrong. The knocks on the door and the masked figures lurking in the shadows are not random. They’re calculated. And somehow, they’re connected to him. Now, I’m not just questioning if I ever knew the man I loved. I’m questioning if I’ll make it out alive because his dark promises weren’t just words. They were warnings.
Author's Note This book is part of the Nightmares of Nevermore series, a collection of standalone dark horror romance stories. While each book is interconnected through shared themes of obsession, betrayal, and survival, they can be read in any order. These stories contain mature themes and content that may be disturbing to some readers. Reader discretion is strongly advised.
I haven't read anything by this author in a while, due to arcs and trying to get through my never ending pile of must reads, so when I saw this pop up and had no other commitments I gave it a go..
This author always pushes the envelope when it comes to her unique storyline’s which tend to go from gritty to dark within a blink of an eye and this book was no different, its books like this which I enjoy and no one gives me that rush like this author, you never know which way things are going to go.
After seeing a few unsavory messages on her boyfriend Wilder's phone concerning texting with other woman, and a few pictures, Autumn dumps his ass.
Then her and her friends and a few male tagalongs decide to get away from it all and head to a quaint secluded little house tucked away from it all, surrounded by woods.
This is where things take a turn for the worse, a lone female keeps knocking on the door, asking where a friend is, masked figures appear out of nowhere, only one person will make it out of that house alive..
Blood and gore walk hand in hand, details are graphic and bloody, and not glossed over, if you have triggers this book may not be for you...
This was okay it just felt like it was rushed. I love Nats books but I wish we had more push back from Autum.. I love that she stood her ground when she thought Wilder was cheating.
But she folded pretty fast at the cabin. And near the end. As for Wilder her was over the top psycho. Which he could've just told her the truth. I feel like she would've still stayed with him.
I honestly don't know how she forgave him when his friend killed her sister. Also if you wanna read a "stragers" horror erotica this is for you.
No om drama/sorta ow drama, no cheating, drama, secondary characters, sexy times, no virgins
3.5. The angst in the first few chapters was sublime. Loved the hero. Perfect mysterious obsessed psychopath. Because this is Natalie Bennett, this becomes erotic horror, heavy on the horror. I was grossed out by what Romeo did to Daniella and to visualize it makes me feel sick to my stomach.
Respect to the author because she wanted to write out The Strangers plot and she did. It was home invasion and the bad guys win. There is no redemption arc or any excuse or reason to explain or dress it up. The hero and hero’s friends are messed up to do the line of work that they do.
However, I would love to just read an angst-y romance by Natalie Bennett without the horror.
This is is a slasher dark romance novella. I really enjoyed it for the "romance" part. The slasher part was ok, but it's not usually my thing, so I'm not surprised. I really wish we would've gotten more than just the epilogue on the aftermath. There's an entire book there on Autumn adjusting to her life with Wilder. Is it an HEA? Depends on your definition. The couple stays together in the end and Wilder is totally devoted to his woman. Is Autumn on board? At least partially... That's enough for me, but your mileage may vary.
This is like those teenage horror films but taken up to an adult level... I found myself wanting to cover my eyes while simultaneously peeking. This is going to live rent free in my head. I'm not sure if that's A good thing or not.
This is obsession at its highest level. Heed the pitch black warnings. I'd suggest an extra therapy appointment, too. Especially, if you find yourself debating on reading the next character to get a story.
Holy damn. This is not a romance. I repeat, this is not a romance. Each novella will highlight a guy from let’s say a cult?! I’m not quite sure what we’re up against but Sins of Autumn is about Wilder Carson and he’s completely unhinged and obsessed with his girlfriend, Autumn.
When Autumn sees text messages on Wild’s phone that appears to be evidence of cheating, she’s done. Pissed, hurt, and angry. Wilder tries to explain it’s not what it looks like but his gaslighting answers don’t deter Autumn. She’s gone. Gone to a remote cabin with her sister and friends to relax. Not much of relaxing happens when masked men break out and start killing everyone off one by one. If you love 90’s-early 2000 slasher movie.. you’ll love this novella. It’s darker. Brutal. Grotesque. A list of triggers.
"You think I'd give you up for anything or anyone? Have you forgotten how obsessed I am with you?"
“The second she knew the truth; she'd have to be mine in every way. She would be locked in my world, unable to turn back and unable to leave.”
"The shadows keep us safe. You don't pull someone into the dark unless you know they'll never leave."
I wouldn’t say it has an HEA. I mean, maybe for Wilder?! It’s a slasher novella! 🔪 🩸 😈
I wanted to like this book more than I do, i just couldn’t get past the fact that he killed all her friends and her sister. Like from a psychological stand point, I love my friends wayyyyyy to much to fathom forgiveness. And taking my sister… he’d have to kill me lmfaoo. Kj would have to go, fades would definitely have been caught. There’s no way I have to lose my sister and you get to keep yours. Also, there wasn’t enough bonding to me. Not much happiness happened with them before he went crazy. So I don’t feel as attached to him. And her sister was fighting in the basement by herself. In my opinion, she didn’t have enough fight. Like she said she can’t run away from him cause she tried and this happened, but like no girlie you didn’t “run” away. LMFAOO you went on vacation, like she was still in the same country I’d hardly call it running away.

This was Natalie B at her finest or should I say darkest lol telling a story that only she can tell and having you fall for the bad guys I love her brand of romance and her attention to detail is always spot on I swear this was sort of like watching a couple of my favorite horror movies but add the romance and the girl living and having a hea with the MMC at the end! You definitely need to check your content warnings and triggers if you have them and if you do just don’t read it I don’t want to hear about anyone clutching their pearls and thinking they need to voice how much they disliked the story that’s what a trigger/content warning is there for so you don’t read something you know you won’t like! Anyways definitely a five star rating from me and definitely going in my reread pile and favorites of 2024!
Sins of Autumn is a spine-chilling, dark, and totally twisted read that had me hooked from start to finish. This violent and bloody tale dives deep into the wicked mind of Natalie, creating a world that’s as horrifying as it is captivating. Wilder Carson is completely unhinged, and his obsessive relationship with Autumn is the driving force behind this psychological horror.
Let me be clear—this is not a love story. I repeat: no love story here. Wilder and his friends are true psychos, and the plot is packed with obsession, betrayal, and survival. It's more of a "happily-ever-after" for Wilder (if you can call it that), but definitely not for the faint of heart. The story's brutality is matched only by its brilliance.
I devoured this novella in one sitting—it was that good. If you love horror/slasher tales, this book is for you. Be sure to read the trigger warnings, though; this isn’t your typical dark romance or thriller. It's a wild, gut-wrenching ride into Natalie’s twisted universe. I’ve been a longtime fan of her dark, daring stories, and this one only cements her talent. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. Wow—just wow! - Wonderful World of Books READ TODAY! https://geni.us/SinsofAutumn
When I first began this book, I felt like I was missing something. I was slightly confused & felt like I had missed some crucial aspects of Autumn & Wilder’s relationship. I did some research & didn’t see anything about this being a spin-off from another series, so I just went with it. I’ve read a couple of Natalie Bennett’s other stories & have always enjoyed them. I figured since it was a novella, some minor details may be missing due to the shorter word count. Mind your triggers before reading this story. Wilder & his group of friends are psychologically crazy. Wilder is possessive and feels no remorse for the things he does to keep Autumn. With that said, I enjoyed their story & will continue to read the rest of the standalone in this series. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a murderous, OTT MMC that holds no remorse for his wrongdoings.
I literally finished this book in one sitting like it was very intriguing. Highly suggest checking those trigger warnings So Autumn ends breaking up with possessive/obsessive boyfriend after she finds some messages on his phone with other women. To take her mind off the heartbreak her friends invite for a weekend in a beautiful house in the middle of nowhere and shit goes left. When I tell you Wilder is so unhinged this man said I have eliminate all your friends so you only have me and my people and guess what that’s exactly what he did. Wilder is possessive, obsessive and psychotic but he loves her, there’s no him without her🫠🫠😮💨
I have read books self described as “what did I just read?” Most of those books were, well, boring and predictable. THIS book however was absolutely a “what did I just read?” It was engaging and exciting. Well written and Wilder… don’t get me started. 🔥
Reading this was like stepping into a 1980's horror movie. I've never read anything like it and can't seem to find anything else like to either 😭
I was disappointed the 2nd book shows at something like 86 pages. I demand more!! And Romeo’s story. Please give Romeo a book. I’m not above begging at this point. 🙏🏻
This book is dark! I loved every page. Natalie knows what she is doing. Autumn and Wilder have broken up and Autumn and her friends decide a getaway in the woods is just what they need. The rest is history. This is a wild gory ride and I’m all here for it. I literally couldn’t put this down. I read it in one sitting. I have been a longtime fan on Natalie’s dark universe and eagerly awaiting for the next fantastic read.
Natalie writes some of the best unhinged, psycho, anti-heros.
This line from Autumn/Mint so hilarious • "Pretty sure you having a dirty dick makes it that null and void, you fucking psycho." And from Wilder • "I'm not sick, I'm devoted. There's a difference."
Autumn • "You're insane, actually fucking insane." Wilder • "That doesn't change the fact that I'm yours, just like you're mine."
Ate this up and it is very very morally fucked up on another level like literally insane until the very end. It started off pretty normal and I wish there was a bit more background for the MCs relationship esp Wilder’s past and his friendship with the guys. I was enjoying it until almost the end with Cherish like why did that part have to be added?! Idk Autumn didn’t fight enough in my opinion and the ending felt incomplete for me I would have rather preferred to see her pov instead of his
OMG! This was one sick and twisted read! I had to keep reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen. Wilder was obsessed with his girl Autumn, but in a psycho way. I was hoping after everything it would explain more what she was going thru. Especially after all the trauma she experienced.
usually i love natalie’s books for their dark romance but this was a little…. too much. like i wouldn’t have minded if he didn’t kill her sister. wtf is up w that. and also why is it like a whole book and then it just ends without them getting a resolution? the only resolution is that she isn’t happy with him but knows she can’t get away. what a waste of two hours!

I had only one problem with this.. we missed out a lot! we jumped right into this story, i wish and needed to have more background story. I needed to have a few chapters at least of them in the past,i needed to have an extended epilogue, ugh. Other than that this was indeed a crazy horror story but like i said above, i needed more of them before this.
After reading the prequel, I was very eager to continue this series. This one started off with some spicy heat turned burning rage. It was a terrific beginning and had me all in! Things quickly became possessive and anxiety-inducing. I was very eager to see just how far Wilder would take things. This one got pitch dark for sure. I really hope there will be more books in this series.
Wilder this man it’s so obsessive and possessive. You gotta love a guy that will do just about anything to be with the woman he loves. Love read this story I hope we get more from the rest of the guys that we come to meet
Well as always Natalie took us for a ride and kept going. Fair warning this is not for faint of heart and not a fluffy love story with a happily ever after (from Autumn's perspective) I want autumn to go crazy.
Loveeeddd ing what doesn’t this author do well? It was medium horror. Good angst and a H that doesn’t sweeten over time. No he gets worse and the h just has no choice. I would love to have read more about what happened afterwards.
autumn and wilder have the perfect relationship until she finds some messages on his phone and ends things with him. what does the psycho do in order to get her back? it doesn't make any sense, but I guess we will find out why the guys are like this in the next books.
Just how I love my Natalie Bennett books. This book was messed up but I knew what I was getting into with this from the start. Now I am rushing to start book 2 because ohh I have MISSED Natalie Bennetts mind!!
I liked how legit psychotic Wilder was but I wish it didn’t go that far. Or I wish at least Autumn turned out to also be a little psycho and enjoyed it lol.
