The book illustrates how if you are a white British male, there are amazing things waiting for you. If you aren't, you will find that book more depressing than inspiring. The book is a great illustration of how systematic racism works. The women in that book are used as "hot" props. The author makes a girl follow him around the world, offers nothing in return and finally breaks up with her. Otherwise, it is a great story, full of adventures etc.
