Trevor “Malice” Mason once had an old lady, and he doesn’t need another one. Taking care of his son and being there for The Brothers of Menace MC are what is important to him. The only kind of female company he needs is the one that can warm his bed at night.
Adrianna Carmine has led a tough life, but she is a survivor. When she allows herself to fall for the saccharine falseness of comfort from her now ex-boyfriend, her only escape is to either die trying, or kill the man that exacts pleasure from hurting her.
When Malice finds Adrianna wounded and alone, protecting her consumes him. After delivering retribution to the one that hurt her he takes her back to River Run, hoping that she can heal. But Malice wants her something fierce and staying away isn’t an option, even if she deserves better.
I enjoyed the slow build of the relationship between Malice and Adrianna. I just wish there had been more focus on their relationship. The author devotes time to laying out another MC member, Kink, and his personal problems regarding a teenage daughter. Malice finds Adrianna in the middle of the night at a rest stop as she is running away from her abusive boyfriend. He gives her a place to stay and protects her until he and his brothers return to their own club. They do not fall into bed immediately and in fact the actual first sex scene is at about the 60% mark. But the author worked it for me with a build up of the relationship and seeing Malice's possessive behavior. There is a decent plot going on in the book. The MC is a 1% club and they deal in prostitution but they take care of the girls and no one is forced into prostitution. There is a fanatical, violent religious group that has targeted the MC. This is the first book in the series and I will be reading the next book. The secondary characters were engaging. No cliffhanger and no cheating.
I usually review just the writing because I don't always like the plot or am in love with the storyline, but I am not the author.
However, I do not get how this book was actually accepted by the publisher AND it is getting good reviews.
The editing is NONEXISTENT. Really, almost every page there is something either not in the correct context, spelled incorrectly, or the words are repeats.
The story is not even close to believable. Yeah, this is fiction, but you are reading about people. You are told that the main male lead is a mean biker/enforcer for this group, but he might as well be playing at that for all the "mean" things he does. Our female lead is such a doormat.
And, then author throws in religious fanatics AND shifters? The madness goes on, if there is one reference to this MC group being all bad, but really "good" underneath, you read it almost every chapter! Oh, and they make their money illegally, but again, they are really doing something good too!
Sorry, this was so not worth the money. This publisher and author need to have a sit down and revamp this series.
It's not bad enough to be a two star but not good enough to fit three. So two and a half stars it is.
This one was definitely not the best from Jenika Snow. It does need some editing. But, that was easily overlooked, as it wasn't to an extent tha it bothered me.
There wasn't very much to the plot line and most of it was predictable. I felt like the plot was a bit stretched out instead of eventful. I also found myself skimming or skipping a lot of scenes, especially the sex scenes. Perhaps I just wasn't feeling the story and the characters.
Adrianna has finally had enough, life's dealt her a shitty hand but enough's enough she's taking her life back, not quite in the manner she'd planned but desperate times call for action. When Malice first sees her she's staggering barefoot down the road beaten and dazed and he feels instantly protective towards her but Adrianna is half his age and has just escaped an abusive relationship, do they really stand a chance? This book had me glued from the first page to the last, I was going to say it's the best of this series so far, to which you'd be thinking it's the first in the series so obviously but I mean the best of Jenika's MC books. I liked both Malice and Adrianna and the story was good, I can't wait to find out what happens next. I will say Lucien intrigues me I can't wait for his book, he must get a book surely... I can't finish this review without including a line which I loved, Malice, Rock and Tuck, three huge scary bikers are discussing pre-school: "Hey, don't laugh. I can remember my preschool years." Rock looked up at the sky "Best f***ing time of my life." He looked at them again. "Back then they had naps and snack and shit." I just loved that.
Malice's story was borderline boring for me. I had a feeling that I've already read the story, even if I haven't... It was a quite classic one to read featuring a quite large age-gap, violence, abuse etc. Just ok for me, not sure if I'll continue with the series.
First book in the spin off series to the Grizzlies MC. Malice is the sergeant at arms for The a Brothers Of Menace. At forty years old he's experienced much in his life. He loves his son Dakota, and his brothers in the club. While visiting another chapter to pick up some women who are under threat from a religious cult, he rescues Adrianna who is wandering in the road bruised bloody and beaten. His possessive instinct roars to life. She's almost half his age and has been through a lot with her ex. Adrianna should really be afraid of Malice he's a giant of a man and really scary, but she brings out his gentle and caring side.
I liked this story very much. There's a definite plot with the crazy cult who are gunning for the brothers, and the women who work for them. I liked the chemistry between Malice and Adrianna, I would have liked more hot scenes with them together. I must admit I'm slightly uncomfortable with how the brothers earn part of their income via the women who work for them. What I'm really waiting for is Lucien's story.
Once again Jenika you have blown me away. Not only was this story fan-fucking-tastic it was gritty, dramatic, sexy, and so very intoxicating. We met Malice and the Brothers in the Grizzly MC's book and knew that under that big, bad, alpha exterior is a man who only wants to protect what is his, and it’s beautiful to catch him in those rare moments of vulnerability. From the first meeting between him and Adrianna you know that this sweet girl is going to turn his world upside down. Adrianna has been dealt a helluva hand in what we call life but after meeting Malice she slowly but surely starts to become the person she's meant to be. When it comes down to it, this story was all heart and erotic as hell, I am so ready for the next one. Which Brother will it be.....
This book is the spin off series to the Grizzlies MC (that I did not read yet) Malice is the sergeant at arms for The a Brothers Of Menace. At the age of forty years old he's experienced a lot in his life. The two greatest things are his son Dakota and his brothers in the club. He was at chapter to rescue some women who are under threat from a cult, he also save Adrianna who is wandering in the road bruised bloody and beaten. His instinct possessiveness is to protect from all harms. She at least half his age but that did not stop him from finding her attractive.
My one star review really has nothing to to with the story line which was ok, a bit workhorse of type no real character development and I agree with many other reviewers that this story should have been about the hero and his girl. Too much time was devoted to another character who has his own book that follows this one and therefore the whole story feels rushed and forced. On average I can read two to three books a day (very quick reader) and as an English teacher I can appreciate good writing. In general I read everything from harlequins to political thrillers but this book is astounding in the bad grammar, incorrect sentence construction, incomplete and frankly confusing paragraphs and worst of all the spelling mistaking hear and here, pliant and plaint. I really don't understand, this is a fairly big publishing house and quiet frankly I think the proof readers and editors were on holiday when this book came in or they just think the level of intelligence of the readership is very low. I almost didn't finish it and I don't know if I will read the next two books as I don't want to re read pages to understand what has been written. In fact it makes Fifty Shades of Grey look like a classic or even a masterpiece.
I enjoyed this book and I like that they aren't overly lengthy with lots of extra crap that you have already gathered!!! I be read the first three books back to back and must say lucien's book is my favourite and I really enjoyed the characters but seriously what's with all the younger woman??? Lol!! A little predictable but still enjoyable
Ugh! I skimmed through a lot of the ending. Insta-love I can forgive. But, the author threw in Kink's story and it was really awkward. Just didn't even need to be there.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I am a huge fan of Jenika Snow, especially of her MC stories. I devoured the Grizzly MC series and couldn’t wait to read the spin off series The Brothers of Menace MC. Malice’s Possession, the first book in the series, turned out to be sweet and charming but wasn’t as exciting as the books in the previous series.
We were first introduced to Malice, the sergeant at arms for The Brothers of Menace MC, in the Grizzly MC series. Malice is your typical romance novel biker; hard edged but with a heart of gold for those whom he loves. That list includes his son Dakota and his biker brothers, so when another chapter of his club needs his help, he is there for them. It’s when he’s visiting that other club that he comes across an obviously injured woman whom he feels an immediate connection to.
Adrianna hasn’t had an easy life, but she has finally reached her limit. After escaping her abusive boyfriend, she is rescued by Malice. She finds herself falling in love with the sexy biker and has no problem going back with him to his home town when Malice asks her to. Malice feels very protective of Adrianna but he’s worried that he’s not good enough for her.
I loved the characters in this book from the leads to the secondary characters. Ms. Snow has created quite the cast of differing personalities that somehow mesh together to create a family. I love when a hardened biker guy finds his softer side because of a woman. I have been cheering for Malice to find love ever since we were first introduced to him. Adrianna is the perfect woman for him and I was so happy for them both.
But as much as I loved the characters, I just didn’t love this book. There are two main reasons that I didn’t find Malice’s Possession as exhilarating as other Ms. Snow books. First of all, there was little surprise for me in the book. Now normally I love the fact that these MC biker series follow a formula. It’s like being wrapped up in my favorite blanket – I am warmed and comforted by knowing how things will play out. But there is always some dramatic twist that separates each story. That twist wasn’t there this time and I really missed it.
The second problem was that for the first time in a Ms. Snow book, I was distracted by the many typographical errors. When I have to go back and reread sentences several times in order to ensure I understand what I’m reading, then I am pulled out of the magic of the story. This has not been the case in the other books that I have read by Ms. Snow but there were just too many mistakes to overlook.
The fact that I didn’t love this book will not keep me away from the series or Ms. Snow’s other works. I will still be reading the Brothers of Menace books because I have grown to care about them throughout the two MC series and want to see them all reach their happily ever after. Not every book can be an author’s best and I am still a fan of Ms. Snow even if I am not a fan of Malice’s Possession.
4.5 Stars, but gave it 5 because I am glad that the author listened to her readers and she dedicated this new series to The Brothers of Menace and I also want to encourage her to write more books In this series!!!! Ok, so I am super excited about The Brothers of Menace, because I've wanted this series since their first apparition in The Grizzly Mc series!!! I've actually wrote in one of my reviews for The Grizzly Mc ( I think it was for book #5 - The Outlaw Stakes his Claim) that I really wish the author would write a series for The Brothers of Menace!! Well, she did and we love her for that!!! Now, for Malice's Possession ! The story is very good, maybe a little slow at the beggining, but then you'll have a good mix between romance, excitement and action !! The hero is not a stranger for the ones who read the last story from the Grizzly Mc series! He was Molly's ex and the father of her child! I am so glad we have him for the first story in the series, cause this smoothes our path and our transition from the grizzlies we love so much. We learn how beautiful the hero is inside and how hot he is, of course! The heroine is a strong one, even if she seems a damsel in distress. I love, love the way their attraction is described, so strong and beautiful. For some, the speed of their falling in love will pass as unreal, but if you consider their hard past you'll understand it!! Read this!!! * I am waiting for the next story, I want Kink's story ASAP, also I want to see Lucien falling and of course all of the other members!!!!!
Fell in Love with Malice and Adrianna, they gave new meaning to love at first sight. The story in itself was a slow build, where the author laid out the foundation on each of the characters. You couldn't help but feel a connection. The MC quality of the story was more than believable and realistic. I like that, it wasn't faked or rushed out for porn even tho the hot scenes were just that steamy slow and hot! Trevor Mason aka Malice, is the kinda man who will do whatever takes to defend his club and the woman he loves.
Another good, charming and intriguing book by Jenika. Adrianna at the start in my opinion was a little weak but probably that's understandable because of the last few months she lived was like hell. And after all through the book she grow up stronger. I liked that she didn't judged Malice or other's brother's in club for theirs chosen life. And Malice was just wonderful. Rough, hardcore alpha biker but so sweet and understanding toward's Adrianna. You just can't help but fall for him. Hard. But The Brothers of Menace have some troube coming towards them. A crazy cult, calling themself The Church of the Good and Only. The idiot things they sprouted some nonsense about the club and woman who working for them. I just got a feeling it's just a start and have though that they just should be all exploded. It's was kinda weird when something really exploded in the end of the book. It was just really bad that my mind read not the right party. Can't wait for next book to find out how club going to take care of idiot's in that cult. And show that no one messing with them or those who are under their protection.
Let me start by saying that I wished I had read the Grizzly MC Series first before reading this...I just felt like I started reading about people that I should have already been introduced to in the previous series...the editing could have used some work...it is not generally a concern to me but I found it rather bothersome...I also noticed that there was not much dialogue between characters...I would have liked more of that... now to the good stuff...I loved Malice...big alpha male with a dirty mouth and a big heart underneath it all...Adrianna was innocent and sweet but stuck in an abusive relationship because she though so little of herself...the book may have had a couple of drawbacks for me but I still gave it 4 stars because I really liked the story overall...I am a sucker for a good MC book...this one wasn't half bad!!!
Trevor "Malice" Mason knew the minute he saw Adrianna Carmine and her battered body that his protective instinct was on full alert. It wasn't just that she was abused, underlining all of her history there was a connection. Malice wanted to bide his time and make Adrianna his old lady, however he couldn't stay away from the innocent beauty. Adrianna though surprises Malice with her own confession she feels the same. With a cult in the mix set on destroying the club, Malice wants to keep his woman protected no matter what.
This was decent but had a very abrupt ending. I liked the overall story but wanted kind of a what happens next in the story. Malice I liked but would have liked to read more about his past. Adrianna I thought was sweet and you do feel the connection between the two characters.
..................................................................................The set-up scenario had me interested and the first climatic situation had me thinking this was definitely going to be a good read…and then it dropped off.
I understand a cliffhanger to get you prepared for the next book in the series, but this relationship didn’t seem finished to me. There is not a “happily ever after” or even a “happy for now” ending, it just dropped off in the middle of a climatic situation.
I kept waiting for the real relationship to get started in this book and before I knew it the book was done. I had a WTH moment where I thought I missed something. There was more detail for other characters than the one I was really interested in. The build up was really good and I was into their story. I liked how Malice was slow going with Adrianna to make sure she wasn't so traumatized by her ex that she couldn't move on. He really was so good for her. They were finally getting there, and it was over. I'm hoping this story continues in the next book because I don't feel like it's complete. I'm looking forward to where they go.
I don't know.. I honestly felt like this book got cut short and there wasn't a lot of chemistry between the two main characters. Basically this book was they just met, he took her in, the went back to his club house and knew each other for about like two weeks and suddenly they are in love and then it just ends there. There wasn't a lot of scenes where it was just the two of them and half of the book I left like was just about the club. I just needed more and it felt like the author got bored while making this book and just decided to end it quickly and published half a book.
OMG! This book is so freaking good. Well written, hot and steamy with some biker drama. After reading Owned by the Outlaw (Stinger and Maggie's story) where we were first introduced to Malice, I was all set to not like him, thinking he came across as a macho and arrogant biker. But dang the man has redeemed himself. Malice is a raw and gritty badass biker but shows a sweet nature when he saves and protects Adrianna, claiming her for his own. Loved Malice and Adrianna's story. Would definitely recommend. Can't wait for more in this series. Another great book by Jenika Snow.
If you want to read about the rough alpha male falling for the shy quiet younger girl, this is the book for you. This is an MC book, so not everything is legal. But all of the guys show their soft gooey centers at some point during the book. Malice is under Adrianna’s spell from the moment she stumbles out of the rain. With patience and care, and some hot steamy moments, he draws her out of her shell and shows her that she is strong. The HEA is a guarantee! I look forward to reading about which MC member finds his one next.
This is My ZON Review..... :-) Another AWESOME READ By Jenika Snow…… Book 1 A Great start to a Fab New series following the MC Club Menice Guys can see lots of guys getting stories here & the excitement is gonna be great..... can see the cult are going to be a problem , let's hope they get that sorted quickly …… Can't wait for Kinks Story ..... So One Click this Book ... You'll love it!!!!! :-)
Since this is a spin off of the Grizzly MC, I couldn't wait to read it. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous series, but then again, the first book usually just introduces you to everyone. We've met Malice and I am happy he is getting his girl. I just didn't connect with Adrianna.
I can't wait to read more and I hope the next book is Kink's.
Just couldn't get into it. Felt that the storyline focused to much on building the series storylines with so many characters and not enough on the H & h. Way too much going on every which way, was rather disconcerting trying to keep track of all the people mentioned and side stories. Ended up skimming quite a bit.
Didn't finish it honestly (59%) the most boring MC book I've ever read. Well, after the tiny bit of action in the beginning that brings the 2 main characters together. Plus jumps to another side characters' pov. I understand trying to intro him because he has his own book in the series, but didn't like it done that way. Just my opinion
it was amazing, totally highly recommend this book and the series. holy moses, kept you on the edge of your seat, and captivated, drawn in. loved the characters, the drama!!! this author is amazing!!!
