I get it, we want to excite believers with a dream and immerse ourselves into God's narrative. But where does God say that we will be Joseph, or Abraham, or Sarah, or Moses? Maybe God wants me to be the Joseph of the New Testament and sacrifice my sexuality out of love for my wife and her special situation. Maybe God wants you to be Elizabeth, barren with a stubborn husband, only to become pregnant late in life. Maybe you are Simeon and you will only get one glimpse of the Savior before you die. And yet, we are called to be faithful. When did the modern and strikingly American prophecy of getting to be number one at everything become synonymous with the Good News? Would this book be realistic to Christians 1000 years ago, is it realistic to Christians in the third world? Do the authors have to self reference all of their success and published titles to support their message?

Spiritually refreshing

The book offers lots of illuminating spiritual insights which are both refreshing and humbling. The authors ' sharing of their own personal spiritual journeys towards achieving their God-given dreams give a whole new perspectives on how Christians ought to approach our purposes on earth.

Live Your Dream

A nice read, one time read for me about following your dream amidst turmoil. I enjoyed the first & the backend of the book. In between was centered around the author & the great things he has accomplished. Very ME oriented.

The Joseph blessing

A very inspiring read. Reminded me to refocus, not on my ability, but on the One who has called me and given me dreams and a specific purpose.

I was very excited to recieve this book which coincided with the start of a 21 day fast I was embarking on. The Joseph Blessing was written by two author's and so the narrative went back and forth between Jordin and Dr Pete. This isn't my favourite style of narration as I find it hard to pay attention to both perspectives equally. But for the most part I was able to get into a rhythm as the book progressed. The prayer on the last pages was the most valuable takeaway for me, as well as the biblical references to Abraham which encouraged a closer more intimate relationship God. I've read other more hard hitting and influential books in the past, But this was definitely a positive faith affirming word for those who are seeking God for direction and wisdom in their life.

This is a motivating book that is based on the OT person of Joseph – the favored son of Jacob. From the telling of his life in the book of Genesis, we know that Joseph had many God-given prophetic dreams. And while those dreams got him into a heap of trouble with his brothers… those dreams, given by God came to fruition whereby nations were saved.

In this book, the authors take a look at the parallels between dreams they have been given by God for their ministries of making disciples throughout the world with the dreams and reality of the life of Joseph. The lessons learned by the authors serve as the basis for the lessons outlined in seven of the chapters.

We first have to learn and know deep in our heart that we are His favorite. Once we learn and abide in that knowledge, we can seek to be used by God to change the world with our own God-given dreams. In our identity of His favorite, He will use that identity to shape our dream. With that in mind, the chapters discuss how following our dream can often lead to persecution. But know that that persecution confirms that you are following God. Sometimes we face the death of our dream. This too is a reminder that we cannot do anything in our own strength and that to have the greatest strength, we have to surrender to Him. And once surrendered to Him, you will find fulfillment and purpose while experiencing the Joseph Blessing.

My favorite chapter was “Don’t birth Ishmael” (chapter 8). I’ve known and worked for a few ministry leaders that gave birth to Ishmael, rather than ”Lay Down Your Isaac” (chapter 9). The lesson I learned in all of these chapters was a blessing for sure.

This book was phenomenal! It shows you that God has a plan for your life and he can show it through various ways in your life. In Jordan Rubin and Pete Sulack's case it can come to us through a dream. There are seven steps to take to bring God's plan for us to fruition. I'm going to give a brief description of each. Reading the book gives you a better understanding, so go out and read it for yourself; do not rely on solely my review or others.

1. Believe that you are his favorite - this is pretty straight forward. Realize that God loves you and that you are favorite. He wants the best for you and doesn't think less of you.

2. Embrace your God-given dream - you may question your dream, but it's best to ask God to guide you.

3. Navigate through the nightmare - even though you embraced your God- given dream be prepared for hurdles and uncertainties. But don't be overwhelmed by it. Same thing happened to Joseph after he was locked in prison because of potiphar's wife's allegation of his rap ( false allegations).

4. Don't birth Ishmael - when this nightmare occurs, try and avoid taking things into your own hand. Let God guide you. He has a plan even when to us it may seem like he doesn't or he isn't going to come through with what he has set forth for us. Don't birth Ishmael is based off Sarah's intentional intervention of God's plan - giving Abraham many descendents and nations. Ishmael was a problem since his birth and by Sarah's intervention this could have ruined things, but in the end God gave them their own son, Isaac.

5. Lay down your Isaac - you will be tested. Abraham was tested after God gave him a son, a son God promised him, and then told him to kill. Abraham was about to do this, but an Angel came up to him as he was about to plunge the knife in his son and told him not to do it because God knows that he fears him. When things get hard, you may think it's time to end the dream, but it will be saved. Be patient.

6. Walk in His Spirit - allow God's spirit to guide you. God will guide you so you need to let him take control and prevent yourself from trying to do things your way.

7. Allow God to be God - God will walk you through the process. Put your trust in him and watch his work fruit into your life.

That's about it. Great book and it shows you that God can and will give you a dream. You just have to take the steps necessary, but don't try and do it all on your own. Let God be the driver while you relax and watch the scenic scenes as he takes you to your destination. Anything is possible! God bless all and may we all be given a dream that helps and brings people closer to Christ.

I just finished The Joseph Blessing by Jordan Rubin and Pete Sulack. Wow - I have been studying Joseph most of 2015 and this book gave me one more glimpse into what an amazing man he was and how God used him to save the nation at the crucial time. It was a book that encouraged, challenged, reminded me of God’s provisions and how He wants to see my dreams fulfilled more than I do because if done correctly, they are really His dreams. It also warned me that the dreams God gives me will not be fulfilled if I stray from His path and His way of doing things.

The book was terrific. I loved how it was broken down - easy to read, short chapters that gave me food for thought all day since I read it a chapter a day along with my devotions. I have already recommended this book to many others and will continue to recommend it because it’s a great book to remind us of the journeys of the heroes of the Bible. A lot of times I read a story in the Bible and see the happily ever after without remembering that there was a trial and pain in the middle. Not to focus on the bad, but to remember that the bad I’m facing was faced by others before me, will be faced by others behind me, and God does get it through to the blessing when we stay on His path.

I was quite impressed by this book in that the authors used Joseph as a model for them to follow their dreams. I was also challenged that seeing the future and reacting to it rather than sitting on the sidelines and waiting for it to come to me is the way to go.

I was given this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was an interesting book. It is a nonfiction book that tells about two men and how God told them to be more like Joseph from the bible. It is well written and interesting. I received a copy of this book from Bookfun.org for a fair and honest opinion.
