In a span of a week, I went from being an agent, to turning Mud, to entering the deadliest game the Iridians have ever created as the weakest player--and to becoming the winner of the Iris Roe.

I not only survived the challenges and the players, but I also drained a man-made Rainbow to get my magic back, thinking everything's going to go back to normal again.

It didn't.

Taland is no longer with me; my grandmother lies to the Council for me; the Council makes me lie to the whole world when they 'allow me to live'--but that's not all.

When my curiosity gets the best of me, I end up stealing from the IDD--something useless, worthless, something nobody would even know it's gone. I am dead wrong.

Turns out, there's a lot more to the history of Iridians than they want us to know about. Secrets unravel around me, and my world is on the brink of ruin--until I find Taland. Until I turn on my own and run away with him, and he opens my eyes to this whole other past that was hidden from me all my life.

But once again, everything changes when he disappears into thin air without a word.

This time, I am completely on my own.

I am really enjoying this series, there's so much going on and I love not knowing what's going to happen next and I am in desperate need of the next book. The only complaint I have, which isn't really a complaint lol, is that it feels like FOREVER for Taland to come back into the story. I know this is supposed to be Rosabels story, but I couldn't help it lol.

I received an advanced reader copy from the author for giving a review voluntarily. We finished the 1st book with Rora winning the Iris Roe. After her grandmother's healers fixed her, it was time to meet the council and prove she could do magic and if not, well it would be her end. Rora is desperately trying to find Talon. She is back at IDD and has to lie about being Mud or she will suffer the consequences. While in the Vault with Cassie, she goes to the restricted area and discovers a bracelet with no ID. One evening she breaks into her grandmother's study to they to find the file about Talon and the school but discovers a book about mages who used anchors of sort to become all powerful. Then she remembered she saw the bracelet from the drawing in thr vault and makes a plan to steal it. When she uses the bracelet it doesn't hurt to use her magic and when she meets a mud girl, the girl is able to produce magic....is it a result of the bracelet? Things are not what they seem. When Rora decides to return the bracelet, Talon is in the Vault...what the heck. Once in a safe house they both tell each other everything and Talon is shocked that David Hill is the one who sent her to the school bc he is part of the Selem group Talon is. Then Talon disappears and Rora is desperate to find him even if it means going to his brothers who hate his guts. Truths are revealed, a tale of deception and double crossing. The only thing that matters to Rora is Talons safety even if it means she is no longer around. OK book 3 now please!!

Rora may have survived and won the Iris Roe, but her life is far from back to normal. Once again, she has no idea where Taland is, and she is forced by her grandmother and the council about her entry into the deadly competition. When she finds a strange artifact in the Vault under IDD headquarters and realizes that by focusing her (absolutely not back to normal) magic through it and not the ring she had always used before, it is much easier to focus her magic. She always realized that there is a lot of history about the Iridians that she was never taught and seems to be a secret kept by those in power. When Taland suddenly appears again, she decides to leave with him. Taland will educate her on a past she has never been told, and then disappear without a trace, again. On her own, with an object others would kill her for, Rora’s first goal is to find Taland.

Wow, just WOW! I loved this book, and I am already looking forward to the next one. Needless to say, this book ended with one heck of a cliffhanger. Colorful magic, exciting action, unexpected and surprising twists, and plenty of steam make this a must not miss read. Fantastic characters that kept me engaged in their story made it hard to put this book down. I highly recommend this very long book to other readers.

So many things changed when Rosabel came out of the game. Taland was missing, her magic was different and she was forced to lie about it. While the council let Rosabel live and keep her title of winner, no one at IDD wants to work with her because she is now an unknown.

This book is filled with a lot of information, like what being Mud really means. But it also raises so many more questions, like is there more to Madeline than meets the eye? Lots of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Love those unexpected surprises.

The chemistry between Taland and Rosabel was hit in the first book, but in this one, it really steamed up the pages. Hot just doesn’t describe it. And Taland is such a charmer. Would love to see more from his POV.

Definitely looking forward to book three. The ending knocked me off my feet (iyknk lol)

“Anchor,” by D. N. Hoxa

I loved this book so much. I adore all of D. N. Hoxa’s books so far, every single one has been amazing, and this one did not disappoint. I can’t seem to get enough of this series, I NEED MORE! The two main characters are absolutely amazing, I love their history, I love their love and hate, I love every single thing about these two. The story took turns that I wasn’t expecting, it gives me dystopian type feels but with the fantasy vibe that I eat up in books. I love how complicated it gets toward the end. I love love love how Aurora has developed and the kind of person she is now. Can’t wait to read more books by Hoxa, 5 out of 5 stars.

This is book 2 in the Chromatic Mages series and when I tell you that I was excited to read it, that's an understatement. 😁 My tween rolled his eyes so hard at my squeal of excitement over this book being available. 🙄 Anyway, my review is as follows lol

I like that it picked up right where book 1 left off and I didn't want to put it down. The beginning with Madeline healing Rosabel and lying to the council about how Rora got into the Iris Roe and lying about what color magic she'd had, made me suspicious. Her grandmother doesn't love or care about her beyond the affect on her image, so why did she do those things? Is there more to Madeline than meets the eye?? 🤔

As stoic and observant as Rora is, she's equally pretty naive and unobservant. Both Cassie and Taland tell her some pretty important things and she forgets them so easily.

I really liked Taylor, she was a sweet, yet tough kid.

Once again, I wanted more of Taland's POV. He intrigues me so much and I could probably read a full length novel of his POV. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is something about how Hoxa weaves a tale then enslaves me. I just can’t put it down once I start. It’s why I dedicate time to savor her stories because of how I get sucked in. Anchor is no different. This story continues where the first leaves off. So if you didn’t read the first book you will definitely be missing out. And by missing out I mean that. Read the first book. It’s awesome. Rosalie and Taland are becoming two of my favorite characters. The heat between them is undeniable. And add in his brothers and Cassie and it’s just a great supporting cast. We learn more about the history of mud that I didn’t see coming. And now the Devil himself is in play. Sooo good. Can’t wait for book 3.

Anchor starts off where Mud leaves off but from Taland's point of view as he's coming to terms with what he learned. (We love that for him.)
Rosabel is struggling through the fallout of winning and all the changes and betrayals that seem to be just stacking up against her.
And when these two reunite again, sparks fly, and some tears are shed, for the happiness, sadness and pure frustration of what is to come still for them. They connect a LOT of the dots that MUD left us questioning, but there are still questions left to be answered.
That cliffhanger is a doozy to fall down. But I'm here through the hurricane ready for the next part of Tallarose

If you think things could not get crazier and weirder, buckle up when you go to read this one. Lies, secrets, drama, intrigue, missing files, the Vault, and two characters that are crazy for each other. Rosa must deal with the fallout of surviving and winning the ultimate game and waking up to the fact that not is all is seems. Then things get even weirder. The build up to the ending was awesome and had me guessing what it might be as she she uncovers things that do not make sense. Lots of surprises, twists and so much more. Loved it and the suspense of waiting for the next thing to happen was great too.

Great read

The story continues! Really enjoyed the read. Love the twists and the “ooooh that’s right? I forgot about that” moments I had, like the devil! 😆 Only problem was Rose and her constant “this has to be a dream” thing. She does come off as very naive. She’s also forgetful but is able to execute lengthy spells from memory? Other than that Talan needs a whooping 😆 how dare he up and leave 😭 I mean I get it but damn. I do enjoy DN Hoaxs writing so it’s not a deal breaker. Seth is pretty funny. Love the brotherly camaraderie. Tho I don’t trust the eldest. I also have a feeling poppy is going to pull something. Can’t wait to the next book!

This was so good!!
It wasn't as good as the first one but it was still amazing!
This book felt like it went a lot more into the lore of the world in the book, which was cool, but it was more of a complex read than the first book, as there was more to focus on, remember and put together.
Still amazing, and can't wait for more!.

This is the second book in the Chromatic Mages series and I’m waiting on pins and needles for the next book. Rora gets some of her answers but it creates more questions. She finds Taland and they share some of their past with each other. He disappears and she goes looking for him. The story is action packed, a little angsty and suspenseful. The cliffhanger made me pause and I’m excited to find out what is going on.

This is a continuation of book 1 and also hangs in a cliffhanger. While I loved book 1, I think this one was a bit slower to build. It was still an interesting read though. 4.5 stars

❤️❤️🤗Such a magnificent sequel!

Taland Tivoux felt in a daze.

While being anchored in the present somewhere, he relived past moments when he held Rosabel in his arms...

He even had the sensation of hearing and feeling her.
A certain nostalgia suddenly overwhelmed him...

********

Once again a great “crush” for this magnificent sequel, well beyond my expectations, extremely rich in emotions and events.

I also loved the plot of this volume 2, rather different from the first book.
The suspense is almost unbearable, the revelations are numerous and the characters are incredible!
The Rosabel/Taland couple is so moving!

I really hope that there will be a sequel because the end of this volume 2 left me in great frustration.
And now what will happen??

I highly recommend this incredible read!
