Rate this book
In the sweltering heat of 2068, The Ghost in the Gears unveils a world where humanity and technology blur into an uneasy symbiosis. At the heart of this gripping tale stands Wren, a brilliant but haunted robotics engineer whose monotonous existence is shattered by a mysterious call from Cyrus Forge—once a legend, now a pariah in the world of artificial intelligence.

Drawn from her grimy garage apartment into the decaying halls of Acheron Forge Robotics, Wren finds herself thrust into a labyrinth of profound technological secrets and ethical dilemmas. As she unravels the truth behind Forge's controversial experiments, she must confront not only the facility's dark past but also the shadows of her own mysterious origins.

With each revelation, the line between creator and creation blurs, challenging Wren to question the very nature of humanity in a world dominated by machines. Will she rise to become the architect of a new technological era or fall victim to the ghosts lurking in Acheron's gears?

The Ghost in the Gears is a pulse-pounding journey through a near-future wasteland where ambition and betrayal intertwine with cutting-edge AI. As the stakes for humanity's future escalate, readers will be captivated by this exploration of identity, ethics, and the price of progress in a world where machines may have already begun to create us.

This book is written in the very near future and frankly had me captivated and slightly terrified of the possibilities of our future with AI. The author really blurred the line between reality and fiction for me. He was able to capture the essence of what it means to be human and often times I found myself connected to the characters and relationships within the story. All the while painting a vivid picture of the experiences with the synthetic beings. The conveyance of details with clarity, and the emotional connections was very well done!
