Ali Singleton loves Christmas but dreads the fuss her mother makes over her relationship status. She just wants to sip her egg nog and chill…
As usual, her twin sister, Ari, is bringing nothing but shenanigans when she conspires for Ali to keep her fiancé’s brother distracted long enough for Ari & Roberto to run off and get married in secret. The twins have switched places before, but this time, the stakes are higher than ever.
While Ali knows the plan is ridiculous, she’s eager to put the business tycoon in his place. But Mateo Campana has a few tricks up his sleeve. His arrogance rubs Ali the wrong way, but it might be the reason she has the best Christmas ever!
Olivia Linden, a native New Yorker, was raised between Queens and San Antonio, TX. Her creative itch began when her elementary school principal posted one of her stories in the halls of her school. She was only eight at the time, but old enough to understand how integral writing would be to her future. From that moment on, reading and writing became her two greatest passions.
Olivia hasn’t stopped writing since she found her literary voice all those years ago. Jaded Hearts, her first published novel, mixes her big personality, with a sexy yet humorous tone. It is her philosophy that laughter is essential to making it through even the toughest situations.
This book is a must-read, for the holiday season. The plot is the ultimate switch-a-roo by twin sisters Aliysha (Ali) and Arianna (Ari).
Ari and Roberto are madly in love, and want to get married. Mateo, Roberto's older brother, and business partner, doesn't want to see that happen because he thinks Ari is wrong for his brother. So Arianna enlist the help of her twin sister Aliysha to masquerade as her, for a few days while she and Roberto go off and get married. Ali will be in the company of Mateo during this time, and the plan is for her to convince him that she's Ari, and show him that she's an amazing person, and that he's wrong about her.
Well, the best laid plans never go off without a hitch, and there are many in this story.
Ali is tasked with maintaining her disguise to Mateo, whose magnetism and charisma has overtaken her, and she finds herself completely mesmerized by him.
What To Do? How will she handle these feelings she's having? Will her cover be blown?
Grab a copy of the book, and immerse yourself in the twists and turns of these two people. Experience the deception, feel the anxiety, the excitement, the passion, the yearning, and ultimately the love.
You will not be disappointed. It's a sizzling slow-burn, but the build up is worth the wait!
Book Review: The cat-and-mouse game b/w Ben and Ali was honestly soothing for my soul. It built so much yearning while also having me giggling because Ali was STRUGGLING to keep up her role… and baby, she failed miserably 😂
I clocked Ben’s little trick pretty early on, but that didn’t take away from the fun at all. Watching him play the game and deliberately get Ali all flustered was half the joy. Sir had her so worked up I wanted somebody to throw water on her ASAP 😭
And now Ari and Roberto lowkey stole the show at the end with their reveal. I didn't expect them to be scheming in the name of love, but honestly? Who better to set up with your rich, handsome new brother-in-law than your own twinsie?
❤️ Final Vibes: Comfy & Swoony filled with giggles
This book had real potential but didn’t quite meet the mark for me. I’m not really a fan of books with a single point of view and I think this would have been better if we got to hear Matteo’s point of view as well.
I also felt like it took too long for them to get together. The whole book there is this cat and mouse game going on that became a little repetitive and exhausting.
The ending was a little unbelievable too. Roberto and Ari’s plan just didn’t ring true. I ended the book with lots of questions. Had Matteo met Arianna before? Did he already know she had a twin? Why did Ari and Matteo elope? Wasn’t there an easier way to play match maker? They were both close to their siblings so it didn’t make sense. Things just didn’t quite add up in this story. Most of the time we spend in Ali’s head which just made the book drag.
I am a big fan of Olivia Linden so I will continue to read her books but this one missed the mark for me.
Imagine you are out of your element, forced to be at an event pretending to be your sister and this FIIIIIINE drink of water makes eye contact with you. Then he looks at you like he can see right through your clothes and LAWD wouldn't life be better if you were nekkid right then and there?!
We all dream of a world where we meet someone and the energy in the room shifts and you're just like, deezang, just hop in my drawls already. But for Ali and Ben, the fiery banter is just as scalding as the way they look at one another.
This book is a masterclass in slow burn.
I love everything Olivia does and this is not an exception!
Against your better judgment you decide to help your twin sister out and trade places so she and her boo can get hitched. However, you were not expecting to be taken on a whirlwind of emotions with an irresistible cat and mouse game, unbeknownst with your sister’s boyfriend brother. This was such a cute, funny, tension building read; Ali KNEW she wanted Ben “Matteo”, she was just adamant on protecting her sister’s identity despite the feelings she was beginning to have for Ben. After all was said and done, Ben applied straight pressure, “I am NOT coming up off of you Ali”.
