*Wedded to the Heartless Highlander is a steamy Scottish Medieval Historical romance novel of 80,000 words (around 400 pages) written by Maddie MacKenna and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
Hunter, Laird MacKinnon is under pressure from his council to wed and sire an heir. When Laird MacFair holds some Highland Games and offers the winner the hand of his daughter Erica in marriage, he decides that will kill two birds with one stone. Hunter needs a mother figure for his niece, Lily. She is the only remaining blood member of his family and he will do anything for her, even a marriage of convenience. But, others are not happy with this arrangement and soon mysterious and dangerous then begin to happen.
Hunter and Erica are strong characters. I enjoy books with strong female characters. The interactions between them keeps the book flowing and a great read. The winner of the Highland Games, Hunter takes his prize Érica home. A black shadow hangs over Hunter but it’s all only rumors. Torn between love of family and tragic loss of family torments them both until the end. I highly recommend this book.
This is the story of a young highland lady that had treated of becoming a school teacher one day to have her fragile father hold a competition for her hand in marriage without saying anything to her until it was time to start the games. The Laird that won the competition was a large gruff man that she couldn’t keep her eyes off of but at the same time he intimidated her. Will they come to terms each other
I wasn't fond of her family but I guess that was the norm in that time. To have highland games to find a husband. When they were married they left to go to his right after the wedding. They left early because he had a young niece at home that needed them. Her name was Lily and she was so happy to meet her new member of the family. Things were going along fine when someone took Lily and everything changed
I was excited to read this since I loved book 1. Unfortunately, these two MCs exhausted me. The hot, cold, hot, cold was just too much. They would take 1 step forward and then go right back to doubting and mistrusting each other. . Also, the child endangerment was a bit too much for me. . This had a lot of potential - loved the start with the competition and both of the MCs back stories. Wish it hadn't been quite so all over the place and they could have trusted each other a bit sooner.
This is a well written highlander story with strong characters and an interesting storyline. The author does a great job developing the story and takes you into their lives with emotions, banter, chemistry and romance and kept me turning the pages with mystery and danger. She moves the story fluidly and delivers a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
Hunter was a laird. He lost his whole family when a sickness was spread. His niece was the only one left. Now he knows he needs to have a wife, someone to help with his niece. So there were games announced that would win the hand of Lady Erica. He went and won, but not to get a wife. He went to help Lily, his niece . He thinks that he does not deserve a wife…please read to see how really great this story is!
Erica gets informed that she will be marrying the winner of a competition, which she doesn’t want to happen. Laird Hunter is a man whom rumors follow. He is the one of the main competitors, much to Erica’s horror. The other is a local widower, James. This book is wonderfully written and draws you in quickly. Characters are likeable and relatable. Absolutely worth the purchase and read!
Once I started this wonderful story, I couldn't stop reading it. My housework could wait. It has some real twists. It took some time for them to figure out that they loved each other. Lily was a sweet girl. You don't want to miss reading this great story by Ms MacKenna.
She is told that she will be married off to the winner of the competition hosted by her father. Hunter wins and takes her with him to look after his niece, but he is also captivated with Erica. He aims to stay away from her, but will he be able to keep his distance to keep Erica safe. Hunter and Erica kept me all caught up in this wonderful story.
Erica goes through a maelstrom of worries and situations. Her strong, stubborn self stood against the odds and then some but pulled her through and giving her everything that she needed. This story is filled with excitement, mystery and mixed emotions but all comes together for a great read!
A marriage due to challenges turned out to be much more than it should be. There were many obstacles before a happy ending. Everyone who likes highlander stories and the emotional turmoil that occurs before solving a difficult problem will love this story.
Hunter comes to Erica's home to a set of Highlands games to win a wife. He wins and takes her home to his castle. He is the guardian of a young girl. There seems to be someone that won't let them live in peace and they finally have to have a full battle to win forever.
Feeling guilty that his entire family died while he was left alive drove hunter to marry for the sake of his niece. He had no idea that he'd fall in love with his wife.
Ok so have u ever read a story and then ask yourself if this could have been written by the same author as previous stories you've read by the same author? So that's all I'm going to say.
