Taboo and deliciously devious!! Violet Reigns writes with the skilled precision of a master surgeon! This was my first journey into the world of “Shelled Nuts”, and I must say I love our authors “loving darkness” as it pertains to erotica. It’s not vicious, not brutal, not gory, but subtle and mischievous. She sneaks up on you so sweetly! Love this anthology!
One of the main takeaways, and I will say it on every single review for the author..her character work is astounding! I felt like I knew these people, which made it so personal. I found myself asking questions: so, the testicles are gone, but homie has an empty sac, how does that make him feel? How would I feel? One guy went to the wrong room and the BDSM dom thought he was a cheater when in reality he was celebrating his anniversary! Dang it! No nuts! I almost cried!

This was a tough book for me to review. It’s an anthology with six stories, six short stories with one core subject matter…. That subject matter for me is not some thing that is of direct interest to me. However the stories were well written logical and didn’t need lots of editing. So they were not difficult to read and held my interest. However I never pictured this particular kink and will have to think about whether to read more of this subject by this author. But to be clear, my reticence is the subject matter, the specific kink, not the writing or the story. The kink the way, if you missed it in the title is, male castration.

OMG! This is what happens when you put a taboo subject in the hands of a very capable writer. So very wrong, but... oh, so very right!
A Simple Cure dives right into the psychology of the castration fantasy. It's a dark little number with some cheeky humour, delivered deadpan. "Sensible shoes"! LMAO.
The Model Husband is quite a twisted tale, you might call it a cautionary tale for men who let their better judgement slip by the wayside for a pretty girl. I love how Chloe is daring and forthright as well as sexy.
An Overactive Imagination is a story I can't describe without spoiling it. Hot, hot, hot! And with a twist.
Happy Anniversary is probably the funniest story of the six, just because Kurt is so hopeless, especially when he's out of his mind horny.
Meeting The Parents is dark and twisted too. This time, a poor virgin lets a pretty face take him completely off guard.
And finally, The Uncontrollable Ache is the darkest story of them all. How well do you know your wife, gentlemen? Could she be holding back something from you?
Classy writing, clever plots and lots of very steamy bits.
