When you open the door of your getaway van and find your boss inside, dressed for his wedding…
I needed to leave town in a hurry to escape the mobsters looking for my dad. How was I supposed to know that the van I stole belonged to the company catering my boss’s wedding? Or that he was inside?
Now we’re stuck in a remote cabin while a cold Sierra Nevada blizzard rages outside. But inside, things are getting hot.
Because to claim his inheritance and save his bar, my boss must marry and have a baby ASAP. And he's decided my punishment for the kidnapping is to become his new wife and mother of his child.
Accidentally Kidnapping the Groom is a short and steamy instalove novella, starring an overprotective dominant bar owner and the woman-in-trouble he’ll stop at nothing to claim and plant a baby inside.
But the mmc has wanted the fmc since she started working at his bar. Then they finally sleep together. MIND YOU HE was planning to marry his friend because his grandma put something on the bar that he had to marry. Even if she ran away, he was STILL THINKING AND GOING THOUGH WITH MARRYING THE OTHER WOMAN!! even if he said they were friends and no romance shall be between them. 😒😒😒 He still fucked the fmc..
Just ok, but didn’t love it. I guess it fit into the series but the kidnap part was so quick. I didn’t really understand how it happened that were both in the exact right place at the same time in order for it to happen? Plus, why was he so hostile about it?
Not very romantic either. They “like” each other and hook up right in the beginning in what feels like a one-night-stand. Then he “needs” to get married so he quickly picks her, which almost feels more like a marriage of convenience than actual “I love you and want to be with you forever”. I’m not sure how this could have been better except maybe showing more of his obsession with her beforehand (he mentions stalking her), BUT he was still planning to marry someone else even after he is together with the FMC, ewe!
Accidentally Kidnapping the Groom is part of the multi-authored Accidental Kidnapping series. It's a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, secret identity, forced-proximity, accidental kidnapping, curvy girl gets her boss romance. April is a 24 year old curvy bartender who has been on the run for some time. Jay is her hunky boss who is about to turn 30. He is an ex-military special forces man who now owns a bar-restaurant. The two have been crushing on each other for some time, but he had tried to avoid her since he was her boss. He also has his own issues as he needs to get married before he turns 30 in order to keep his family bar. He's supposed to have a platonic marriage of convenience to his childhood friend but has told no one but his brother. When April's past comes to find her, she ends up stealing the catering van that Jay is in on his wedding day. She takes him to a neighbor's cabin, and they end up snowed-in. Can they help each other? The chemistry between these two was pure fire, and the ending was so happy. I loved it and can't wait to read Nick's book next! This was my first book by this author, but it was definitely not the last. I loved it!!.

1 star ⚝ "Would you make me your boss, pretty please? Pretty please, let me ease your mind"
| “A bottle of merlot.”
look, this book is... not good.
not offensively bad like the second or third one, but also not as fun or unhinged as the first. it’s just... a book. one of the books of all time. a piece of literature that exists.
i’ll give it half a star (generously) for one thing: the heroine not being a virgin. i know, low bar, but when every other woman in this series has been described as “pure” and “untouched” like we’re in a 2006 CW drama, this felt refreshingly normal. she wasn’t a virgin, she occasionally wanted to take charge, and no one made a big moral fuss about it. good for her. feminism won half a point that day.
but now, the real highlight — and i mean the moment that single-handedly changed my rating scale.
so, context: me and my best friend have a book bingo. nothing revolutionary — just the usual chaotic challenges that make reading feel like a competitive sport. things like: a book with a certain cover color, a title starting with a specific letter, a book released on one of our birthdays, or even one released in our moms’ birth years. we also have a challenge for a book released on ayrton senna’s birthday, because we’re nothing if not patriotic and unhinged about formula one.
but then there was the devil.
if i remember correctly, this particular challenge came from my best friend’s little sister — a gremlin of chaos — and it required us to read a book that mentioned either the word “chardonnay” or “merlot.”
this was our personal hell. we could not find one.
we combed through every romance, every contemporary, every cookbook. we even picked up stanley tucci’s what i ate in a year thinking, surely he’ll mention merlot at least once!
he didn’t. betrayal at its finest.
months passed. we were defeated. i found books that mentioned “gemini,” books with cemetery scenes, even books that were released on my birthday, senna's birthday and her birthday — but no merlot. it became an inside joke. we started to believe that no book on earth contained those cursed words unless it was literally about wine.
and then, it happened.
i was on the train, half-asleep on my commute to work, reading accidentally kidnapping the groom for another bingo prompt (finish a series you started). i wasn’t expecting greatness — just closure. and then, out of nowhere, i read the phrase:
“a bottle of merlot.”
i gasped. people looked. my life changed. the prophecy was fulfilled.
of all the books in the world — this one, about accidentally kidnapping your boss who’s about to get married while running from the russian mob — this was the one to say “merlot.” the unlikeliest savior.
so no, it doesn’t get more stars for that. but it absolutely gets sparkles. five bottles of merlot out of five for the sheer miracle of existing.
From the moment Jay hired April to work at his bar, the chemistry between them was undeniable. Though they've kept things professional, one heated night shatters that restraint and sends them tumbling into each other’s arms. So far, so good for an instalove romance, right? Well, not quite. Here’s where things get messy: Jay is a couple of days away from marrying someone else. Sure, it’s a marriage of convenience to save his bar—thanks to a stipulation in his grandmother’s will—but it still comes with a promise of fidelity. He and Charlotte, his soon-to-be bride, had agreed to keep things strictly above board during their arrangement. Yet, here he was, caught—quite literally—with his pants down. So, what gives? Is breaking a vow okay just because it hasn’t been officially sealed yet? Well, it’s not. To make matters worse, April has no idea about the wedding, and Charlotte has no clue Jay’s already gone rogue. Despite this spectacular slip-up, Jay plans to go through with the wedding anyway. Seriously? Oh, and leaving April sprawled half-dressed on his desk while he goes to clean up isn’t exactly a scene out of a romance novel either; it's more like a bad morning-after story. Meanwhile, April’s past is has caught up with her, forcing her to make a quick escape. When her car won’t start, she hijacks a catering van parked outside the chapel. Imagine her shock when she discovers an unconscious Jay in the back. Why does she tie him up? Your guess is as good as mine. I was half-expecting some spicy Domme action, but no such luck. Instead, we get a groggy Jay who is still pretty much into April. To cut a long story short, April ends up taking Charlotte’s place at the altar (don’t ask), and Jay and his brother somehow handle April’s little problem. All the right ingredients for a juicy romance are here—a fun premise, likable characters (well, minus the whole pseudo-cheating fiasco), but somehow, it just doesn’t come together. In the end, it feels like a cocktail mixed with cheap liquor. A bit disappointing, to say the least. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
April was on the run. She never stayed in one place too long, knowing that the people looking for her could find her at any time. But she liked it here. It had been six months, and it was starting to feel like home. She liked the bar where she worked. And the way her boss looked at her sometimes? It was enough to make her combust. Jay and his brother inherited the bar from their grandmother. But he recently found out that the only way to keep it is to be married by 30, and planning on a child within two years. Otherwise, the bar will be auctioned to the highest bidder. He's only a month from 30 now, so his only hope is a loveless marriage with a good friend who has reasons of her own for agreeing to it. If only his bartender wasn't such a beautiful distraction. On Jay's wedding day, he's hiding out in the back of a catering van outside the venue, still thinking about April and dreading what he has to do. At the same time, April is running from the bar and the piece of her past that had just walked in. She ran down the street and found the catering van. Not knowing Jay was in the back, she took off. But she may have kidnapped the one person who can actually help her. Jay and his brother were in special forces, and now ran a security company for covert missions. He's willing to help, but considering his own situation, he wants something in return. Ooh, this is a hot one! Jay and April are obviously attracted to each other, but as boss and employee, they both feel the other is off limits. And with Jay's impending nuptials, April should be the last thing on his mind, but she's all he can think about. Will he be able to keep her safe when her past comes looking for her? And what will she do when she finds out Jay's supposed to get married to someone else? Ooh, things get steamy! Add in a little danger and intrigue, and I couldn't stop reading!

For a short book (50 pages or so) this book was all over the place. It started out fine but then the writing style seemed to change a bit. Instead of it being more laid back the writer changed to using bigger words to describe the mundane.
The plot was a bit... iffy at best and Jay's emotion switch from one extreme to the next AND he's a liar. He says one thing to April but clearly doesn't mean it - as in he said they didn't have to do anything more than talk and yet he didn't back off from her, didn't give her time to think things through.
Also it didn't make sense that April assumed by taking off in a random van and accidentally kidnapping him that she was endangering him with the Russian Mob. All she really needed to do was leave him at the cabin and take off running.
And let's talk about the plot as well for a moment. Jay needs to get married before he is 30 and have a kid by 32 or he loses the bar? It's absolutely ridiculous, aside from that I'm sure that he was well aware of situation the moment his grandmother passed away and he would've had time to find a suitable wife... anyway that's neither here nor there. There's just too much going on to fit into 50 pages.. It's also just not long enough to feel their connection or to resolve issues like.. I don't know, the Russian Mob! Especially since there was no real ending with that. It was just a let down where Jay and Nick basically just hand over the ledger to their contacts in the FBI or whatever and boom, all solved. Nevermind the guy that actually showed up in the first place and confronted April, he's obviously no threat. And this irrational dislike for April in general from Nick because it's so painful obvious that he has a thing for Charlotte was just sad. He should've been happy for his brother and Charlotte and the end to their fake marriage but whatever...

Had a super hard time reading this one. I saw that it had a low star count and figured the only other reviewer didn't know what they were talking about. The writing is bad, lots of errors and no story line. Before the "accidental" kidnapping these 2 do the deed in his office after work one night. He goes down on her and she gets off in literally 2 sentences. Then they have their relations and complete that event in less than 1/2 a page. This guy is supposed to be super smart and wealthy from his "personal security" business bit is entering a fake paper only marriage with an old friend to save a bar in a tiny no name town. When he's having a hard time on his wedding day to another woman his brother basically tells him to take a walk and get his crap together and being the super smart and savvy guy he is he decides to climb into the back of a catering van. Then the chick steals the van because apparently it's the only available vehicle when she's on the run from the mob. She decides not to take her own car and goes to Jer neighbors cabin instead of leaving town for parts unknown. She notices her boss is knocked unconscious (from her bad driving) in the back so she (who is described as being small) drags his huge muscular body inside her neighbor's cabin and zip ties him to a chair because she thinks he will be mad she accidentally kidnapped him.
To be honest I read about 25%, skimmed thru another 50% before giving up because life is way too short to be tortured into reading the rest of this mess. I'm glad I borrowed this thru KU and didn't spend any cash to read this. I would not recommend this to anybody. Sorry.

April (h) has spent six years running from the Russian mob, changing her name and life every time they get too close. Just when she’s finally settled in the small town of Fir Hollows, her past catches up with her. Desperate, she steals a catering van to make a quick getaway—only to realize too late that she’s accidentally kidnapped her boss. Jay (H) was supposed to get married today in a marriage of convenience to save his family bar, but instead, he wakes up tied to a chair in a remote cabin with April standing over him. She swears she didn’t mean to take him, but now they’re both in danger. As a snowstorm traps them together, April reveals the truth about the deadly secret she’s been hiding. Jay isn’t just her boss—he’s a man with connections, and he’s determined to protect her. April has to decide if she’s finally ready to stop running—and if Jay is worth the risk. Sweet and spicy instalove, workplace romance, exploring love, connection, belonging, family, and side of danger.
There’s something fun about an over-the-top romance. And this qualifies. The pros: really, really hot first sexytime scene. Absolutely. Fun scenes in the bar, including behind-the-scenes view of life as a really capable bartender who has seen it all. I really liked the first portion of the book. The cons: I think the story would have been better without the whole Russian Mob angle. It didn’t really add much to the plot. I know that the kidnapping is in the title, but it’s just silly. MMC/FMC- Jay and April Genre- contemporary romance Heat- open door explicit Series? Y Safety? Y Triggers? Discussion of past violence. Tropes- Breeding Kink, Workplace/Boss Romance, Instalove, Marriage Games, Where There’s A Will, He Ain’t Heavy- He’s My Bratva.

Accidentally Kidnapping the Groom is short and steamy with a brief hit of danger and some radically funny moments too! April is on the run, a threat to her safety and life hovering in the wings. She “accidentally” falls for her boss, Jay—and randomly ends up kidnapping him too. Jay has his own set of crazy complications in his life, and watching these two navigate their circumstances is entertaining. I would have liked to see more development in their backgrounds and characters. I don’t quite understand how a man with Jay’s background, intelligence level, and moral compass finds himself in the situation he is in, or why April behaves the way she does when she discovers her misdeeds.

She has been on the run for a while. Trying to outrun the ghosts chasing her. Her boss makes her feel all kinds of things. And when she accidentally kidnapped him on his own wedding day she might have to come clean. He made an agreement with his friend for an arranged marriage to satisfy the terms of his inheritance. But the spunky new waitress is making him second-guess everything. And when she accidentally kidnaps him, he is Ready to claim her. This is a short story format. You do not expect to get complicated character development, or detailed potlines. You get enough here to know what’s going on and how they find themselves in the predicament. They have steamy chemistry, which makes him propose that she be his replacement bride. This is a cute little story, they definitely have some Insta love feelings. It did feel a little rushed at the end for me, but the epilogues do save it from being unsatisfying.

April/Anna was a bartender. She was living a secret life because she was on the run from the mob. Jay is her boss and he is due to be married. It's a marriage of convenience to a close friend because it's a stipulation that he has to be married before he's 30 and working on kids within 2 years in order to get his inheritance which includes the bar. When April is forced to go on the run again she unknowingly kidnapped her boss when she steals a catering van. I really wish this had been a full length book.

After being on the run from the mob for 6 years, they finally catch up with April. To get away, she steals a catering van. What she doesn't expect is to find her boss in the back, or that he was the groom. Jay was getting ready to enter a marriage of convenience to get his inheritance. Now, April must pay the price of marriage and a baby in exchange for kidnapping. And she's not mad about it.

This is a really cute fast paced steamy read with a great couple who find themselves in trouble together. When April realizes her past has caught up to her she steals a catering truck not realizing her boss was hiding in the back. He was accidently knocked out and when he comes to he's tied to a chair with April as his captor. This is a fast paced spicy steamy hot read. April and Jay are so cute together. Really enjoying this multi author series and this is an excellent story and fun to read.

The book was riddled with spelling errors that made it difficult to fully get into the story. It felt far too short and rushed, leaving very little room for character development or a plot.
I was hoping for a fun and engaging storyline, but instead, I found a lack of direction that left me feeling unsatisfied. I am disappointed because I was initially really interested in the storyline and excited to read this book, but it just didn’t do it for me. I unfortunately would not recommend this book.

This is a sweet and steamy read.

April was on the run from the mafia for six years before she started working for Jay. When the Russian monster threatened her she ran in panic. Unfortunately for Jay the vehicle April stole was a catering truck full of food. Poor Jay got booked in then head and April dragged him into her mess. They worked out a compromise and solved both their problems. He needed a bride to keep his bar and she needed someone to trust and defeat the mob. Loved the epilogue even if it's a pain to download them.
This book is part of a multi author series called Accidentally Kidnapping. Maria Larson is a new author to me. I enjoyed her writing style. I really liked April the FMC. She was strong and brave even being on the run. Jay was a good character too. I liked the whole accidentally Kidnapping scene. Enjoyable read. Can't wait to read Jay's brother's story.

This book just wasn’t for me. I felt that the writing was a bit amateurish and there were a lot of things that just didn’t make sense. The characters would think one thing and then do another. And the ending also made little sense. I don’t really expect a lot from books like this, just a bit of escapism, but even if it is a quick read I still want it to be worth my time and this just wasn’t. I don’t mean to be harsh, but I do need to be honest. I’d recommend skipping this one.
This story is a quick, instalove that has the inkling of danger to it, yet is perfectly safe. It's also a marriage of convenience that ends up being not what you think. There's wills with demanding clauses. There's steamy office scenes, warm fireside chats with sweet lovemaking, and then there's a shotgun wedding. It's a whole mishmash of tropes that somehow ends up working out in the end.

The story has a great concept and I really enjoyed it, but I think there's a bit of room for improvement! I’d love to see more development for the MMC character. While we get some insight into who he is, his actions don’t quite match up with that description. It feels like the FMC is taking the lead a bit more. Overall, it's a lovely story with potential for some growth.

This Book 4 in The Multi-Author, Accidentally Kidnapping Book Series has an intriguing Romance Story, a well-crafted world and intriguing characters. These characters have unique personalities, believable interactions and complicated histories. This story has action, twists, turns, adventure, instant connection, chemistry, and love.
This was a short story with the focus more on the relationship between the two main characters rather than the plot about running from the mob. I love how April and Jay are together although the sort of cheating threw me off a bit.

Very cute story, love the whole plot concept BUT it feels as though I'm missing parts... their "relationship" is on an extreme fast track and at some points it's not really clear how they move from have one conversation to smexy times so quickly.
Overall cute little nugget - it was just the pacing that threw me off
This book just wasn't for me. A bit too cringe worthy, so much happening and being accepted within a few sentences, no real emotional connection or chemistry.
I've read another in this series that was fun and well paced, built on the chemistry and story and it worked. But this one didn't, at least not for me.
One the characters don't have no real connection. I mean they barley interact in the beginning and I don't get any feels of any connection. So this story does need work.
