Get ready for Garner and Olivia's fake relationship, girl next door, mountain man romance!
Welcome to Mustang Mountain, where rough roads lead to redemption. In this rugged mountain town, the Bad Boys of Mustang Mountain live by their own rules. They’re outlaws with code and conviction, protecting their own against anyone who dares to cross them. With troubled pasts and scars that run deep, these men aren't afraid to live life their way. But when fierce, curvy women step into their lives, they find themselves facing a different kind of challenge—one that just might heal the hearts they thought were too far gone.
When Eve London was a girl she wanted to be a trapeze artist. Instead, she grew up to be like most women–a juggler–trying to keep bunches of balls in the air. Now she spends her days writing about the kind of men she likes – sexy, shameless, and just a little bit sarcastic.
A great story about two people who find themselves in a situation that brings them to make up that they are in and relationship. Both are hiding the fact that they truly have feelings for each other, but both are afraid they aren't reciprocated. Amazing story ❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I couldn’t put this book down! August’s Bad Boy – Garner is everything I love about small-town romance: swoony tension, fake marriage tropes done perfectly, and the kind of best-friends-to-lovers story that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go.
Olivia is sunshine and determination, Garner is broody and loyal to his core—and watching their fake relationship blur into something achingly real was absolute perfection. The chemistry leaps off the page, and the emotional depth of their unspoken feelings makes every touch, every look, feel electric.
This book balances tender vulnerability with laugh-out-loud banter and small-town drama, keeping the pages flying. Eve London brings Mustang Mountain to life so vividly that you’ll wish you could move there just to run into these characters at the diner or on the trails.
Garner’s quiet devotion and Olivia’s realization of what’s been right in front of her all along made this one of my favorite reads in the series. If you love fake marriage, protective heroes, and heart-melting slow-burn romance that explodes in all the best ways, this book is a must-read.

August's Bad Boy - Garner is Book 8 of the Bad Boys of Mustang Mountain series. It's a short and steamy, childhood friends to lovers, mutual-pining, fake relationship, curvy girl gets her hunk romance. Garner is a hunky, inked tattoo artist. Olivia is a sweet curvy girl who cuts hair and a has nose for conspiracy theories. She and Garner were next door neighbors growing up and best friends. She moved with him to Mustang Mountain when he got his job at the tattoo parlor. They have both loved each other forever, but thinks that the other doesn’t feel the same. When Olivia wants to investigate at a new resort, she asks Garner to be her fake husband for a married couples retreat. He agrees, but is worried how he will handle it. These two were perfect together. Garner needed a good smack to get his head on straight, but he did, thank goodness. Their chemistry was insane and the ending was so happy after the angst. I loved it.
I loved it!!! Garner and Olivia are true soulmates 🩷 Everytime he called her baby girl I swooned 🫠 They had so many built up emotions after years of pining after each other that it just exploded when they were “faking it” 🥵🔥 It was so hot! They are so cute together and I just loved this story!! Can’t wait for the next one already!! Highly recommend!!.

Garner McCrae and Olivia Vale have been friends for years. They grew up next door to one another in Silver Springs. When he moved to Mustang Mountain to work at Priest’s tattoo shop, she came, too. They even shared a small, cramped apartment for a while until she got a job as a clerk at the town hall. She also has a side job giving haircuts.
The town has had trouble with a developer wanting to buy up properties that aren't for sale. The company has had a problem with understanding that people are serious when they say that they aren't interested.
Olivia is very interested in true crime podcasts, and she's convinced that something is going on between the developer and Ruby and Orville Nelson, who own and operate the Nelson Mercantile in town.
Ruby and Orville are the heart of Mustang Mountain. When Ruby decided the town needed to grow, she started a bachelor of the month scheme and has married off many a bachelor who only thought he didn't want a wife and family. They encourage new businesses to open in town and have even made loans to help new business owners. They are a down-to-earth couple who live a simple life. Not too long ago, Orville needed rescuing. A large helicopter with a logo but no name on it came to his rescue.
Olivia has been unable to learn who owns the Aspen Crest Lodge that uses the same logo as what was on the chopper. According to the information she's been able to find on the resort, it's owned by a company that's owned by another company. So why would the resort rescue Orville? Her conclusion is that it has to be because the resort has a tie to the developer, and if that's true, then the developer, Ruby, and Orville are in cahoots with one another!
She wants to investigate, but she needs Garner's help. She was able to get a reservation at the lodge in Whitefish for a retreat this weekend. Only you have to be married to attend. She made certain there was no one they knew registered for the retreat, and she had gotten the last available space for it. She'd also gotten the last available room—the bridal suite. She just needs a husband!
He'd love to be her husband for real, but she's never been interested in him, except as a friend. She'd love to have him as her husband, but he's never been interested in her type—curvy and inexperienced. He goes for tattooed, skinny girls who wear leather. Oh well, a girl can dream. Hopefully, maybe like Vegas, what happens in Whitefish stays in Whitefish. Or maybe not…

Garner had grown up with Olivia Vale and she was one of the few things that he would drop everything for. They were the best of friends. Garner & Olivia moved to Mustang Mountain so that he could work in Priest’s tattoo shop. Ever since she saw the logo on the helicopter that came and saved Orville, the mayor, Olivia has been worried about Mustang Mountain and Ruby & Orville. Were they working for the town or against? So, Liv came up with a plan and now she talked Garner into it too, to spend the weekend at the resort that was causing trouble for the town to try and get some inside info. They were going in as a married couple. The thing is, although they were the best of friends, dating other people never worked out for them partially because whom they were dating would freak about the bestie. At the resort, they go thru the motions of the ‘guide through connection and discovery’. Boy, did I laugh myself silly at the things they had to go through. The thing is, for Garner and Liv, by doing these things, they began to realize that their feelings for each other were stronger than they thought and things progress and then problems arise because they don’t know how to deal with it. I love how Garner calls her Baby Girl. (So reminds me of Criminal Minds. Yum, lol)
The book is fun, funny, freaky, romantic, steamy, and made me thwack myself a few times in the head in d’uh moments. lol. I really love the end and how Garner handles everything. I miss Ruby really getting in trouble with the guys like she used to by being extremely meddling. All for good ‘cause. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book and a lot of my questions were answered. But, there are always more questions! lol.

This book was awesome…full of intensity, sweetness and a whole lot of white knuckling! I really felt for them both. Call it fear of rejection or call it silly, they both felt the same way, but neither said anything to the other!
Olivia and Garner have been best friends since childhood and they do everything together. Garner really loves Olivia, but what if he tells her and she doesn’t feel the same way and they lose their friendship? Olivia has strong feelings for Garner, but, same thing. Neither wants to be the first to say something so deep, so they say nothing.
Then Olivia talks him into posing as a married couple…groan…Garner isn’t sure he’s going to survive! She’s killing him! Oh but he’s not alone. Olivia is also feeling the feels! So she gets up the courage to ask him to be with her and everything is just lovely. Then the next morning, he pushes her away. Things get really intense at this point…
Garner feels like an idiot. He knows he hurt Olivia and he’s not sure how to fix it…but then he knows. At the music festival in town, in the middle of a set of music, Garner gets on the stage and shows his vulnerability as well as determination, and he lets the words come from his heart. Saying the words I Love You can be hard, but if you push through and put yourself out there, you might be surprised to hear the words come back to you!
This book has it all! The characters and the story will grab you, and you are going to love this book! Another winner for Eve London!

Some lies feel safer than the truth… until they don’t.
Garner (H) has been Olivia’s (h) anchor since childhood, the steady hand who’s always shown up, the man who’s kept his feelings locked away. When Olivia stumbles on a lead about a shady development scheme threatening their hometown, she ropes Garner into a couples-only retreat as her fake husband. It’s supposed to be harmless cover, but sharing a honeymoon suite, touching for the sake of a ruse, and stirring up old memories starts breaking down walls neither expected.
The deeper they get into the mystery, the more the lines between fake and real start to blur. A kiss meant to hide them from prying eyes lingers too long, and the connection they’ve been avoiding refuses to fade. While Olivia tries to keep her focus on uncovering the truth, Garner is holding back something he’s carried for years.
Garner grows from a guarded man afraid of not being enough into someone willing to take emotional risks and show his heart. Olivia moves from quietly holding her feelings inside to speaking her needs and refusing to settle for half-truths. Their relationship transforms from a safe, lifelong friendship into a romance charged with trust, vulnerability, and a commitment neither is willing to lose again.
A steamy fake marriage, mountain man, curvy girl, small town romance, exploring friendship to romance, fear of vulnerability, trust, self-discovery, and reconciliation. It’s about a friendship that grows into something unshakable, risking your heart, finding trust, and learning some loves are worth the leap.
Best Friends Make the Best Lovers - Olivia and Garner have been best friends since they were young, so he always says yes to anything that she asks of him, but her request to engage in a fake a marriage ruse and attend a retreat, shocked him to the core. The agreement was meant to be on a platonic basis, everything changed from the moment they got there. Olivia and Garner’s innocent act of handholding, soon led to a kissing encounter, then to an unexpected revelation about their true feelings for each other during one of the retreat sessions and finally crossing the boundaries of their friendship.
Unfortunately, Garner’s insecurities led him to withdraw from their budding romance revert to the friend zone relationship, which fracture the bond between them. Olivia accepted Garner’s decision even though she was heartbroken, but fate still had a hand to play, as an innocent conversation with one of his tattoo clientele made him realise his true feelings and do everything possible to get her to give them a chance at having a forever.
It was a pleasure to read this amazing story with brilliant characters, lots of passion-filled moments and a little bit of drama, that had me glued to the pages from the beginning and kept me eagerly turning the pages until the end. You will definitely experience a rollercoaster of emotions as you delve into the pages of this mesmerizing tale and be happy to recommend it.

"August’s Bad Boy" is the eighth book in the delightful "Bad Boys of Mustang Mountain" series. It's a heartwarming story about Garner and Olivia, who have been inseparable friends since childhood. When Olivia sets out to uncover the truth about a shady developer threatening their beloved hometown, Garner can’t resist joining her on this adventure. Before they know it, they find themselves in the honeymoon suite, playacting as a married couple—something Garner has secretly dreamed of since he was sixteen!
Although he's terrified of losing Olivia as a friend and doubts that he’s good enough for her, the more they pretend to be married, the more sparks fly. Their connection deepens, especially after a single, electrifying kiss.
The real question is: when they return home, will Garner let his fear push Olivia away, or will he open his heart and see that they’re truly meant for each other? This fake marriage might just turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to them!
This charming instalove story is a wonderful addition to the series. Each book stands on its own with a new couple finding their happily-ever-after each month. Plus, there’s a lovely sense of community as we get to catch up with familiar faces from previous books. Get ready for a fast-paced and feel-good read that will warm your heart!

I liked the story 'August's Bad Boy: Garner'. It was a story about two people who had been friends their entire lives and were afraid to admit their love for each other for fear of harming their friendship. Garner had loved Olivia his whole life. In fact, when he moved to a neighboring town for his job as a tattoo artist, he talked Olivia into moving there with him. When Olivia comes up with one of her crazy schemes for them to pose as a married couple at a resort in order for her to obtain some information on one of her theories Garner agrees to go with her. He hopes that while they are doing that, Olivia will realize that she loves him. As they share a room together at the resort and participate in couples activities, they both realize how good they are together but Garner sabotages his plan when Olivia gives him the perfect opportunity to profess his love and he does not admit to it because he thinks that he is not good enough for her. It is a interesting to see how he tries to rectify the situation and get back in her good graces so that he can tell her he loves her.

Garner from the Bad Boys of Mustang Mountain series is August’s Bad Boy, and wow — this one might be short, but it’s intense. I’ve enjoyed these monthly interconnected novellas for their quick, fun romance hits, but Garner’s story surprised me with how deep it went. Garner and Olivia’s tale is a beautifully executed friends-to-lovers romance with a fake marriage twist. They’ve secretly loved each other for years, but when Olivia decides to investigate Ruby, she convinces Garner to pose as her husband for a couples’ weekend at a resort. Fans of these tropes will probably guess where it’s going, but the how was far more compelling than I expected. Eve London delivered it all — love, angst, and redemption — in under 100 pages. Garner had me questioning him more than once (“What?! Just why?!”), and yet, by the end, I was fully invested in their journey. I didn’t expect this novella to hit me in the feels so hard, but it did. Absolutely recommend for romance lovers who want a quick read that still delivers emotional depth.

Olivia had been best friends with Garner for years in Silver Springs as neighbors growing up. Olivia followed him when he moved to Mustang Mountain to work as a tattoo artist. Olivia believes that someone is working with developers of the resort to bring changes to the small town. They agree to pretend that they're married to discover the small-town plot. She wants to know who might be secretly working with the developers. Olivia used most of her savings for a marriage retreat at the resort; both are single and need to pretend to be married! What package did Olivia buy? Follow their interactions as they share the 'Honeymoon suite' and couples' activities. How will they coordinate their answers? Their history together? What happens when they agree that they both want more than pretending? What about the morning after sex? Do they find any evidence about a connection between someone in Mustang Mountain and the resort? How do they handle when friends think that they eloped? What does the future hold?.

This book was so good I wanted to delay reading it because I just DIDN'T want it be over. Really!!
Garner is a tattoo artist who has been in love with his best friend since he knew what love was about. He spends his free time with Olivia. If he's not with her then he's drawing her. He has never been a man for words, but his sketches speak volumes of his heart. The crazy thing....Olivia is totally in love with Garner as well.
These two are so gone you can't even see through their love fog. They have to pretend to be married, but it gets easy too fast, and scares them both. It finally gives way to the connection you were burning through pages to get through, an its all the fireworks you could want.
There are some minced words, and a panic the day after ands leads to the fears they both didn't want to happen. It was like taking a deep breath once they finally talk and admit their feelings. While trying to investigate a woman in town who only wants the town to grown and succeed, it leads to them finding love admitted.
Its got the grit the Bad Boys of Mustang Mountain is known for, but the heart is all mountain and their residents.
Garner and Olivia are the best of friends who are very aware that their feelings run much deeper than friendship when they pretend to be a married couple in order to investigate a theory of hers. He would do a thing for her and she knows it. Neither Olivia nor Garner know how the other feels and is afraid to find out, for fear of losing their best friend. Sharing a bed and “pretending” to be in love is testing their control to its very limits. Even worse, this weekend at the resort is all about married couples connecting, exposing their thoughts and feelings to each other.
Their story is funny, a bit angsty and emotional with a good dose of hot and sexy added in as well. Olivia’s plan gets messy and more complicated than she ever thought possible. They both make assumptions, get their wires crossed, and feelings get hurt. Can their relationship recover from their fake marriage weekend? Not if they aren’t brave enough to finally reveal their true feelings to each other.
I couldn’t put this one down! Olivia and Garner’s story had everything I love in a small-town romance—best friends trying to fake a marriage, only one bed, and all the delicious tension that comes with pretending you’re not already in love.
What makes this novella shine is the emotional pull. Olivia’s warmth and Garner’s quiet, brooding devotion balance each other perfectly, and when the line between fake and real starts to blur, the sparks are irresistible. Eve London captures both the ache of longing and the joy of finding the love that’s been right in front of you all along.
Short, steamy, and packed with heart, this instalove romance is a perfect pick if you enjoy friends-to-lovers with a protective hero and a heroine who deserves every bit of happiness she finds. Mustang Mountain delivers again—I’m already excited for the next Bad Boy’s story!.

They were best friends, had been since they were kids. Every good memory has her in it. He has been pining for her for years but won't cross the line and risk not having her in his life. When she asks him to go to resort undercover and pretend to be married he can't refuse her even though he knows it is going to make him suffer. He is her best friend and she loves him fiercely. She wishes he would look at her as a woman and not just his best friend. She doesn't think he ever will, until they are alone at the resort and she sees something in his eyes she hasn't noticed before and it makes her want to find out. This is a sweet story. Two people who have truly loved and shown up for each other for years. They built the foundation now they just have to take a chance. Spicy and tender, the best kind of sweet short story.

Love Hiding in Plain Sight Can love and friendship really coexist? Garner and Olivia aren’t so sure. They’ve been best friends for years and—though neither will admit it—in love for just as long. Fear holds them back: fear of ruining the friendship, fear of rejection, fear of what might be lost if they risk too much. Then Olivia asks Garner to pose as her husband to help uncover a small-town conspiracy. Sharing a bed, pretending to be in love… it should be easy, except they aren’t pretending at all. Every touch, every kiss, every stolen look feels far too real, and soon they’re tangled in the very feelings they’ve spent years avoiding. Can they overcome the barriers they built themselves, or will fear steal their chance at happiness? I enjoyed this friends-to-lovers short story and would recommend it to anyone who loves fake-relationship twists and the slow unraveling of long-buried feelings.
Garner McCrae is a tattoo artist. He and Olivia Vale have been best friends forever. They grew up next door to each other. When he moved to Mustang Mountain for a new job, Olivia came with him. She has a crazy theory that Aspen Crest Lodge is owned by the developers trying to take over Mustang Mountain. She thinks that someone in town may be working with the developers. Olivia booked a room for her and Garner for the weekend. The kicker is that it is a couples retreat and they have to pretend to be married.
I loved that Olivia wanted to help find out if anyone from town is working with the developers to destroy Mustang Mountain. They were so cute because neither one wanted to admit that they have stronger feelings than just friendship. I knew it was going to be an interesting weekend and interesting when they got back to Mustang Mountain.
Another good story in the series.

Garner and Olivia have been best friends since high school and have been wanting each other since forever. Olivia has a haunch something is going on with Ruby and Orville Nelson and Mustang Mountain, so she signs them up for a couple's retreat and asks him to pretend to be newly married.
I can't say that best friends forever trope is my fav because they always seem a little too much in denial, but Garner and Olivia had fantastic chemistry and their shared history was really sweet and romantic. I liked the ongoing sub plot in the series of some shady (or not?) dealings in the town. The writer is a fantastic writer and this was a short and easy read. Overall I enjoyed this book and the previous ones in this series and I definitely will continue to read the rest!.

"I remember looking at [Olivia] and thinking that’s what it felt like to be home. That home didn’t have to be a place. It could be a person.”
I really enjoyed this book. It was such a sweet friends-to-lovers fake relationship romance. Good world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Garner and Olivia. I liked how close they were from the start, how comfortable. But Garner wished it was more than friendship- longed for it. And he could deny her nothing. Liv recognized how close they were and knew he could never tell her no. She wished there was more between them, too. But she wasn't his type- or so she thought. They were undercover as a married couple so she could investigate a hunch. But real feelings came through all too quickly. It was very sweet. A fun, quick read. 5 stars.
Garner and Olivia's been best friends since childhood. They were next door neighbors and they have been two peas in a pod ever since. Garner, a talented tattoo artist loved mustang mountain so much he called his best friend Olivia to move. They were always been there for each other. Everyone in town thought they will get together except both didn't realize. Olivia has been obsessed with couple of things that were happening in Mustang mountain and she is determined to solve by booking a couple's retreat. All she needs is a partner to play the husband. When Garner agrees easily to her and they were happily playing newlywed except feeling gets involve and one of them decide to back off. I enjoy reading these short novellas about mustang mountain boys. Garner is not a bad boy but how he react to Olivia was bad but he will redeemed at the end. I was in reading funk after couple of duds and this was refreshing and brought me back to next book.

The author presents reasonable short storylines, engaging characters and plenty of personal moments. Garner is a tattoo artist and Olivia is his best friend from childhood who loves crime podcasts. They share a very strong, romantic, robust relationship that is based on friendship..she asks and he agrees. Always. A fake marriage is readily agreed to in order to provide for her detective traits. Booking the honeymoon suite and several couple discovery sessions brings out a lot of feelings, thoughts, desires on both sides..if only they can actually share them with each other they may discover a lot more than they are aware of.

These two were amazingly oblivious to eachother for being so close. I did enjoy the bond they shared and the openness they had, about everything except their feelings of attraction. Liv's determination to help Mustang Mountain was admirable, and the irony of the couples retreat was appropriate. I do think they both needed to grow up, not just Garner. Attempts were made at communication that were shut down flat and decisions were made without discussion - both out of fear on Liv's part. Just my way of saying finger pointing at Garner was inappropriate, to say the least, they were equally responsible for their catastrophe. You'll have to read the book to get the specifics and see of they managed to set things right.
I voluntarily reviewed a gift copy of this book. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
Olivia thinks there's something shady going on connected to the resort in Mustang Mountain. She enlists her best friend Garner to help her investigate, but they have to pose as newlyweds for the weekend. But things get a little too real between them, and they don't quite know how to handle it. This was really sweet, but a little sad too. They know so much about each other, but learn even more while participating in the couples activities at the retreat. Real moments and stories come through and take them by surprise. But Garner thinks he's not good enough for Olivia, even though he's been in love with her for years. He might look like the bad boy, but he's a softie for her.

What a page turner! Just imagine being best friends with someone forever and moving toward a fake marriage. This is to find out who was behind trouble happening in Mustang Mountain. That is the story of Olivia and Garner. You can tell both feel more than friendship toward each other, but they won’t admit it. Will their feelings toward each other eventually come out? What will happen on their weekend getaway as husband and wife? Just when you think things are looking up for them, something not so good happens. Wait til you find out what that is! In the end, are Olivia and Garner meant to be together?
August’s Bad Boy Garner is a super angsty slow burn that has a supremely satisfying ending! Olivia has just as many hangups and self-deprecations as Garner. For lifelong best friends, they sure are slow on the uptake, and while they see each other so clearly they are both so scared to admit how they really feel. This fake relationship business is hilarious and pushes them into a great position where they finally, finally start to communicate in a different way. I love them for each other, and it’s sweet that the whole town does too!

Olivia is convinced that a prominent community figure is working with land developers to demolish Mustang Mountain. She persuades her best friend, Garner, to pretend they are married so she can investigate the resort where everything seems to revolve around. The only problem is, Garner has been in love with her since they were teenagers, and she feels the same, but they've kept it hidden from each other. I love this story! Garner and Olivia make a fantastic couple with a charmingly spicy romance. An excellent short read with a perfect happy ending.
