The plot thickens, the dice rolls,
The sky opens, the characters grow,
History is told, History is made,
Prophecies are born, Destinies are changed.

I think that sums up the book. I'm not sure what else to describe To scorn a God and why it deserves 5 ✨

Not one of the characters you meet in the beginning of book 1 is the same as at the end of book 2.
And the beauty? Book 3 is raining disasters on us, and I am sat for it.

Eila's journey is commendable, and the support she receives from everyone around her is exactly how and when she needs it, even if it scorns her as well.

Kallen's healing journey is a long one, but a great portrayal of men being subjected to abuse and their journey and representation.

The small acts of feminism in this series.🤌🏻

And.... Gabriele and Tisiphone have a special place in my heart. I am rooting for the true enemies-to-lovers plot between these characters.

I have received an ARC from the author, and I am voluntarily leaving this honest unbiased review.

Once again, Marie Maness has left us with an absolute masterpiece. Make sure you read the first novel, To Summon A God, before reading this one.

After Kallen gets kidnapped, Eila goes into a deep spiral of depression. She uses her power for things she normally wouldn't. Only realizing it when they finally bring Kallen back. The family knows now there's nothing left to do but to kill Cade. The family of God's and Goddesses train and prepare for the upcoming war. While Cade continues to get through the barrier and kidnap his brothers and sisters for their powers. Eila continues to fail capturing him and then Cade finally gets his biggest weapon through the portal. This book leaves you with a big cliffhanger and ends at the what you know is the beginning of a war.

I’m reading this series in preparation for reading the ARC of the 3rd book. I loved the first book and I loved this one.

This book has all the things I loved about the first book, with the romance and the unique twist on mythology. We also got to meet Eila’s birth parents and see Eila become even more badass.

One super specific thing that I so appreciated is how sexual assault was handled. Especially with a male victim. In so many books (and real life), Sexual Assault against a male tends to be treated less serious at best, or like the man should be grateful for it at worst. Or it’s not even acknowledged as sexual assault. This book called it out for what it is, and then went even further by showing the realistic aftermath a victim might face. And he was able to experience that aftermath with compassion and understanding from his partner. It was honestly one of the best depictions I’ve read.

The author is not kidding with the trigger warnings. These books are dark. I really needed to be in the right headspace to read it. But they are so good. They cover so many things. I can’t wait for the this book!

I definitely want to thank the author Marie for providing her books in preparation for her final book to the series, and it has been a rollercoaster of reading! I love the characters and learning about them and their history. This second installment did an amazing job of telling a lot of back story to help understand why the characters are the way they are and how Eila came to be and the reasoning of why her creators had to give her up. I appreciate all that information! I love Liana so much in this book. It was awesome how she got to find her true love again and have the memories restored and keep her happiness, and Gabe finds love!
I also love Eila journey of self-discovery into her past and, of course, her future potential. All of their potentials, really. I love the character growth in this book! I am excited to read the final installment. I hope they get that damn traitor and Tartarus!

Wow! Fantastic second book in this trilogy! Marie did a FANTASTIC freaking job!

In this we follow Eila and Kallen and their new found family navigating how to take down Kallens asshat brother Cade! (God's I hate that guy so much!) As well as getting more details on our main girl Eila and how she came to be! (Marie is an absolute genius how she has weaved mythology into these books! I am EATING it up!)

Will they get him in this one? You'll have to read and find out! There is SO much action and story building in this! It's clever witty and the spice be spicinggggg!

I LOVE this story SO much and I can't wait for the Novella and the third and FINAL (😉) installment!

To Scorn a God continues Eila, Kallen, and the Gods’ stories in an action packed way. Cade is scorned by Eila’s new and more powerful form and is determined to take it out on the whole world. Can the remaining deities work together to prevent his chaotic goals, or is it all too late?

I loved this. This is just as powerful and pulling as book 1 and continues the story perfectly. I loved the balance between the relationship focus of Eila and Kallen (as well as other romances) and the action and danger involved in Cade’s plotting. Couldn’t put this down. Hugely recommend!

A brilliant sequel of book one, with interesting plot and build up, and that right amount of spices in between. From Cade betraying stunt, to Kellan's trauma, to meeting Eila's biological family (among others) - a work that not only tells a story but asks to be felt in every sense - you just want to unalive smack squeze cry hugs kiss the character all together. So emotionally charged and vividly written, it’ll leave you desperate to jump into the story and just hold the characters. This has to be in your TBR list.

Love the actual story, the family/found family, tension, and rises & falls in power…. But, MAN! The incongruent tense changes, typos, & duplicated/incorrect words really began to become an annoyance issue taking me out of the story world. I probably would’ve rated this higher if it weren’t for that & what appears to be a lack of editing or rush to get this sequel to the Final Goddess story out there without taking the time to review and polish.

It took me so long to finish this book ONLY because book 3 isn’t out 💔💔

Marie yet again leaves the story on a cliff hanger and me falling off the edge of my chair as I need to know what happens and if Liana is ok.

Eila has grown so much and is learning when and when not to use her powers, I look forward to seeing her become even more in book 3

Now to wait “patiently” for the next one :(

This picked up from book one and once again, I was up until 5 AM reading it. I laughed, I cried, I threw my kindle a couple of times because of Cade... if you know, you just know. I am so EXCITED to get to book 3 once its released and I'm hoping for some spin offs for our side characters (please give Gabriele one!!)

This was just as good as book one (To Summon a God) with all the spice, excitement, and everything in between. To Scorn A God knows the true meaning of family and teaches the reader that family isn't always blood, but the people you surround yourself with.

Book 2 definitely picked up from book 1. A lot more in depth, action packed, great character development. I loved being able to read Gabe’s POV and Cade’s. Brought a different perspective!

This is the 2nd book in the series and was so much different than the first book. There’s a lot of character background information and point of view switches. So much spice as well. I really like how this differed from the 1st book. You get to see more of the family bonds and personalities. There’s a lot of leading up to certain things and major plot twists that keep you invested in the book.

Cade is an interesting read and as a reader, you start to sympathize with him a little, before remembering how much of an ass he is.
