Chani's Stone and A Prince of Netherus

Rate this book
Presenting the latest edition of Chani’s Stone & A Prince of Netherus.

BOOK WARNING: This is a dark romance, and not the sweet or straightforward kind. Titan, as a siren, is not a good guy or a good partner, in fact, he’s evil, manipulative, and morally corrupt. If dark, twisted characters and relationships aren’t your thing, I recommend skipping this book entirely. Although this book is a subplot in GAMU's life, it stands entirely on its own and can be enjoyed as a standalone read.

Gamu forsakes her crown and her village to follow Titan, her childhood best friend, into the unknown, only to discover the boy she trusted is a stranger cloaked in lies. As dark secrets unravel, Titan's facade crumbles, revealing a manipulator who has used her as a pawn all along. He claims it was love that drove him, that every twisted act was to keep her alive and close, but his motives reek of obsession, not devotion. Bound by a toxic love that deepens with every betrayal, the line between protection and possession blurs. Together, they’re thrust into a world of dark magic, blood rituals, dragons, sirens, and murder, where trust is a weapon, love is a curse, and survival means choosing which version of each other they’re willing to become.

Potentially triggering elements:
Betrayal and Manipulation: Themes of deceit and manipulation, especially by someone trusted.
Forbidden Magic: Use of magic, including dark or sinister elements.
Seduction and Deceit: Themes of seduction and deceit that impact personal relationships.
Violence and Gore: Includes scenes of murder, and graphic depictions of blood.
Sexual Situations: Scenes or references involving sexual activity or themes.

I finally finished reading this book. It pains me to say…it was not hitting😭 I struggle to dnf books so I read it by force. But the flow wasn’t the best, it felt all over the place (too much going on) and it’s too descriptive for my liking, I found myself thinking ‘get to the point’ whilst reading it. However, the concept… I love so can’t be mad at it too much. If you’re into fantasy (sirens 🧜🏾‍♀️ and the sea 🌊)you may enjoy this. I’m just glad I finally finished reading it and supported an indie author but 2025 New Year’s resolution is to learn how to dnf.

Combining the original two parts or books into one Novel was the best decision the author could have made. Combined, the story has the depth and intensity it was always meant to have.

I read this novel because I signed up to be an ARC reader for the now second book, Gamuchirai Receiver (Which I realised can be read on its own even without reading this one).

Chani's Stone and A Prince of Netherus isn’t just a love story—it’s a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute, you'll be head over heels, and the next, you'll be furious with the characters. And trust me, the trigger warnings are there for a reason. It isn't your typical romance. It's dark, complicated, and full of twists that will keep you hooked.

Titan, the main character, is a Siren who struggles with his very nature. He's been taught that humans are beneath him, only there to be manipulated. But then, he falls for Gamu—later known as Gamuchirai in "Gamuchirai Receiver." She’s pure-hearted, and completely in love with Titan, and her discovery of his lies sends them into a tailspin.

Trapped at sea, facing danger from every corner, they're forced to close quarters. It's intense and raw, and you can feel the tension between them with every page. Titan's true heritage comes into play in Netherus, and the stakes get even higher. He never wanted the crown, but now he's forced into a role he never asked for, and everything changes.

Power has always been his true desire—or has it? If you're into stories that challenge love, trust, and betrayal in the most gripping way, then Chani's Stone and Prince of Netherus is definitely a book you need to read.

I would really rate this one at 2.5. The writing style wasn’t for me. It was so poetic, metaphorical, philosophical, etc to the point where it dragged on and made every scene 10x the length it should be. I found myself skimming for relevant information that actually progressed the story. The only part I liked about the writing was how intense it made their connection. Their “obsession” with each other was palatable but every thought didn’t need an in depth emotion analogy.

The best part of the book is when they got trapped on the island with that psycho chiefess because something actually happened.

The cover made me think there would be some spice, but even with 1 love scene, I wouldn’t call it spice. 🌶️-0

4/5😮‍💨 first I want to start with I really enjoyed the writing style of this book. Everything flowed well into a very pointed story. Character wise I did enjoy Gamu, I really like the glimpse of temper I got to see, wish I got more. However the men especially with Titan I hated how overly possessive all the men were with Gamu. Each one of them held this weird sense of entitlement and possessiveness over Gamu, and I was very much disgusted with that. However I was very much in the scenes of the book, only really detached when Titan said some weird shit. Also a really good set up for a second book, so much things I’m excited to get into with the next installment.
